Toad error

Hi all
I'm trying to connect to database through toad getting an error
i.e
ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor
if any one knows please let me know.

ORA-12154 ALWAYS only occurs on SQL Client & no SQL*Net packets ever leave client system
ORA-12154 [B]NEVER[/B] involves the listener, the database itself or anything on the DB Server.
ORA-12154 occurs when client requests a connection to some DB server system using some connection string.
TNS-03505 is thrown by tnsping & is same error as ORA-12154 thrown by sqlplus or others.
The lookup operation fails because the name provided can [B]NOT[/B] be resolved to any remote DB.
The analogous operation would be when you wanted to call somebody, but could not find their name in any phonebook.
The most frequent cause for the ORA-12154 error is when the connection alias can not be found in tnsnames.ora.
The lookup operation of the alias can be impacted by the contents of the sqlnet.ora file; specifically DOMAIN entry.

TOAD ERROR : OCI version 10.2.0.1.0 is not supported

Hi all,
Previously i have oracle 9i in my system, now i installed oracle 10.2.., after this when i am trying to retrieve data from tables im getting this error "OCI version 10.2.0.1.0 is not supported". Please help me how can i solve this problem.

You need deinstall the old version of toad and install version higher than V 8.5 which will fix the issue. Because the default home is read by Toad sometimes reinstallation will fix the issue.

Toad Error Could not locate oci dll

TOAD error : Missing close tag in element Container.

Hi ,
when i try to open TOAD 8.6.1.0 fo oracle data base login ,
It gives the error " Missing close tag in element Container", further i am not able to login and i have to forcefully kill the TOAD session , Please help me in this regard.

Toad Error after installed Oracle Work Flow Builder

I have using Toad 9.6.1 version. I installed newliy Oracle Work Flow Bulider 10g. After installed when i trying to open Toad it is giving Access Vioalation Error.

Is toad throwing error at startup or when you fire any query? and what is complete error message...

Hello All,
Help needed to fix this error.
We are getting the below error from Toad after fresh install on Windows 7 64 Bit.
Toad for Oracle Base
Version: 10.6.1.3
Cannot load OCI DLL: C:\Oracle\instantclient_11_1\oci.dll
We are using the Oracle Instant Client (instantclient-basic-nt-11.2.0.2.0).
We are able to connect to the database from the command line successfully, but when we tried to launch the Toad and connect it we are getting the above error.
How do we fix this issue?

Connecting to vmware database using TOAD on windows7(client machine) issue?

10gR2 installed on OEL4.2(VMWARE) on windows7 HOST. Please let me know how to connect to database installed oel4.2(vmware) on windows7 using the TOAD. as i downloaded the oracle10g client about 35MB and unzipped. it got all class files and then moved this to C:\ folder on windows machine and set the environment variables to the include the path of oracle client and also created the tnsnames.ora in instantclient folder.
i can able to ping to vmware machine from windows and viceversa and listener and tnsnames are running at the database side. When i am trying to connect to database using TOAD or pl/sql developer its giving error.
pl/sql developer error:

Oracledir:
TOAD Error:

in the instantclient folder i have OCI.dll but still giving the error

(S41) Expecting:..... Error

Hello everybody
I've got a very strange problem here. Goal of my application is to generate stored procedures based on my own custom metadata that will retrieve data from an xml file into a regulare db table.
So I've got a procedure that generates this and this works allright when I just display the ddl statement it's perfect. however when I try to do execute immediate v_sql_statement the created stored procedure is invalid. It has following error:
(S41) Expecting: , . ; @ AS CONNECT CROSS FULL GROUP HAVING identifier INNER INTERSECT JOIN LEFT MINUS NATURAL ORDER PARTITION RETURN RETURNING RIGHT SAMPLE START SUBPARTITION UNION VERSIONS WHERE.
Even stranger is that when I recompile the procedure in toad without making any changes at all to the code the error disappears.
Now I was thinking this maybe was a toad error so I tried to do the same in sqlplus, with the same result. It actually says "succes with compilation errors".
When I just copy paste the generated statement in procedure editor everything is generated correctly, without any error so I don't have any syntax error.
Here's the generated ddl statement (this is executed with the executed immediate command in my package).

Toad.. Out Of Memory

I tried to export large amount of data (1.5 GB) to a text file from Toad 9.0. The Toad errors out "Out of memory".Oracle version 10g
Please Suggest me a solution.

Although this isn't a Toad forum, I'll take pity on you: I'm not sure if this option exists in 9.0 or not, but on the Save As screen, if there's an option called "Display all results in grid" untick that.

Hi Justen,
I just run rebuild the index with TOAD. So just I copied toad error output so I haven't written it and also in my computer there is a space. I think when I paste the output here, space gone out.
Anyway, I found workaround solution. First I am taking the script from toad then drop and recreate the index. But this takes very long time, only one index takes 1 hour for recreation. so I have so many index like this and If I calculate all indexes takes 3 days for recreation again.
any other solution is there?

Are all the privileges you need granted directly to the package owner, and not just to some role?
How I can check it?Query the data dictionary view all_tab_privs.
In the case of EXECUTE privileges, the table_name column will contain the package (or function, or procedure) name.
Please give me example command to grant.

Error while executing procedure in TOAD which contains parameter and dblink

Hi all,
I am getting error while executing the following code in TOAD and APEX.
It contains parameter( start_date and end_date) and dblink(@TO_FUT).
When I hardcode the parameter values, It works fine.
When I dont give hardcoded values in the procedure, the error comes.
When I comment the lines whereever parameter comes, still the error comes.
I am not sure whether it is parameter issue or dblink issue or some other issue
Is anybody having any clue about this error?

To your original question...
Is the link name supposed to be variable?
What do you mean by 'hard coding' the values, do you mean in the procedure itself so you'd actually PROC_ENR_ACC();?
What happens when you run this?DECLARE
start_date DATE;
end_date DATE;
BEGIN
start_date := '01-JAN-2009';
end_date := '01-FEB-2009';
PROC_ENR_ACC(start_date, end_date);
END;
I need to know exactly how to recreate your error...
