Toggle value fetch from database

Hi Room!
I am trying to achieve this task seriously and i have spent almost a week trying to hack it but thought may be the room might be able to help, i want to be able to change the value fetched from the database and displayed in a table cell say <td><%= rBean.getCategory()%></td> to image. For example if the value=NNYY, i would like to replace all N with red image else if the Character is Y then replace with green image.
Can anyone help?

I found out why. I put ## to escape #

  • Showing Chinese characters being fetched from database.

    Hi,
    I have an application (using JSP and Servlets) that needs to show the data fetched from an nVarchar field from an Oracle database. When the data being read includes chinese characters, they are shown as "?". The encoding shown on the client browser is "ISO-8859-1", which clearly needs to be UTF-8.
    Can anybody guide me as to the settings required on the server to change the encoding and ensure that the pages are sent out properly.
    Regards,
    Manish.

    First, check to make sure that the strings sent to the browser are correctly encoded. Do so by manually switching the browser's encoding to the correct value. If you see the correct string, then set the charset to UTF-8. Some thing like this:
    Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8

  • Which method does the actual bulk fetch from database in ADF?

    Hi,
    I'm looking to instrument my ADF code to see where bottlenecks are. Does anyone know which method does the bulk fetch from the database so that I can override it?
    Thanks
    Kevin

    Hi,
    I think you need to be more specific. ADF is a meta
    data binding layer that delegates data queries to the
    business service
    FrankSorry - to be specific I probably mean BC4J - when a query runs in a view object.

  • How to gather option values from database in jsp

    jsp experts
    my problem is that i have to populate the optional values that user has to selecet his choice .
    we could have done it by :
    <optional value="item1">item1
    <optional value="item2">item2
    </select>
    but in our database if new category of item is enlisted then what ??? ,thats why we go for populating the values from fetching from database by simple class & populate values in the optional values.
    can any one help about it

    Hi Avina,
    You need to invoke a method from your jsp file which interacts with the database. If you are following the MVC pattern which segregates the View and Contoller part, invoke the controller jsp from your View using the include tag.
    Say this is the View.jsp
    // all your initial page include statements --
    <%
    // all your java code (if necessary)
    %>
    <jsp:include page="Controller.jsp" >
    <jsp:param name="command" value="getOptionList"/>
    </jsp:include>
    <!-- all your html tags -->
    // If you are following my technique, there should be a Controller.jsp which interacts with your database thru some class which you instantiate in this jsp, which invokes some method (that is why i have passed a parameter, so that if u want to make a check you can do so - u may or may not pass the parameters - based on ur requirements).
    Code in Controller.jsp:
    <%
    // MyClass is the class which does the querying into the database.
    // obj.getOptions() is a method in that class which returns a Vector
    // containing all the options from your database.
    // Please ensure that you import the package in this jsp file, so as
    // to get the MyClass.class in this jsp.
    String getWhat = request.getParameter("command");
    if ( getWhat != null && getWhat.equalsIgnoreCase("command") ) {
    MyClass obj = new MyClass();
    java.util.Vector optionsAvailable = obj.getOptions();
    session.setAttribute("Options", optionsAvailable);
    %>
    -------------- End of Controller.jsp related work ---------------
    // Returning back to the code in the View.jsp:
    Once the including is over, the control will return to the next line of code in View.jsp. Just retrieve the data from the session:
    Continued - View.jsp
    <select name="itemsInDB">
    <option value="Select"> Select </option>
    <%
    /* Now you have a vector containing all the options from
    your database. */
    java.util.Vector vecOptions = (java.util.Vector)
    session.getAttribute("Options");
    for (int i=0; i<vecOptions.size(); i++) {
    %>
    <option value="<%=vecOptions.elementAt(i)%>"><%=vecOptions.elementAt(i)%></option>
    <%
    %>
    </select>
    Well thats all thats required. Your problem is solved. You will get a list of all the options in your database. Happy Coding

  • How can we use C# to read dynamic parameter's value list from .rpt?

    I'm using Cystal Report 2008. We know starting from CR XI we can create dynamic parameters, the list of items of this kind of parameter are fetching from database. So in general the SQLs to get the list of values for dynamic parameters are stored in the .rpt.
    In Crystal Report Designer, if I preview a report with dynamic parameters, it will first query the database and then show the input dialog with list of values from database for user to choose. My question is can we implement the same thing by our C# code? I'm planning to use C# code to read this dynamic parameter's value list from .rpt and render them on the web page. Then pass back the user selected values to the .rpt to run the report after user make the choice. I didn't find any APIs can do this. Is it possible?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi,
    Can you explain a bit in detail, I have similar scenario. I am using the following code but not getting the Column name for dynamic parameter list.
    foreach (ParameterFieldDefinition prm
                              in reportDocument.DataDefinition.ParameterFields)
                    try
                        string vParameterFieldName;
                        *vParameterFieldName = prm.ParameterFieldName.ToString();*

  • How to display data in SelectOneChoice from database?

    Hi,
    I want to display data in SelectOneChoice component after fetching from database in a bean using Application module implementation class. I have two fields in my bean id and name. I want to display name in choice and in backend i want to play with the id of corresponding selected choice i.e displayed in SelectOneChoice. I am not able to bind the datacontrol with the SelectOneChoice component. I have data in my bean i.e list of id and name fetched from database.

    In my app module i have create a method which retruns UserBean in array List .
    I dropped that data control on my page as Select One Choice and bind the same.
    When i run that page I am able to see user bean object in drop down but when i try to see any specific var error occurs
    Code-
    <af:selectOneChoice value="#{bindings.return.inputValue}"
    label="#{bindings.return.label}"
    required="#{bindings.return.hints.mandatory}"
    shortDesc="#{bindings.return.hints.tooltip}"

    <f:selectItems value="#{bindings.return.items}"
    binding="#{backingBeanScope.backing_test12.si1}"
    id="si1"/>
    </af:selectOneChoice>
    This code works fine and drop down shows userbean .
    But when i change the code it fetch username form bean exception occurs
    Changed Code-
    <f:selectItems value="#{bindings.return.items.*Username*}"
    binding="#{backingBeanScope.backing_test12.si1}"

  • Display Images from Database

    Hi all,
    I require to display images stored in database along with textual description of it on a JSP.
    The image file should not be stored intermediately on file system (i.e w/o using img HTML tag)
    It is a typical shopping cart appln. where images are fetched from database and the associated description is displayed along side.
    Please note that it is the case of Mixed content types(text and binary data).
    Thanks and Regards

    Like "Breakfast" said, you can do this with a servlet that retrieves your images from a database....
    if you create a servlet to do this, you would have a generic servlet which retrieves a picture from a database based upon a key which could be a picture name or number.
    Lets say the file is out there in the database as a BLOB or Binary Image... you could have this kind of code in the doPost(HttpRequest req, HttpResponse res) or doService(HttpRequest req, HttpResponse res) method.
    The table holding the image has at least two columns one called IMAGE which holds the binary image and the other called FILENAME. If the connection to the DB is already open, you do something like this.
    String fileToGet = (String)req.getParameter("FILENAME");
    rs = conn.createStatement().executeQuery("select from IMAGE_TABLE where FILENAME='" + fileToGet + "'");
    if(rs.next())
    InputStream in = rs.getBinaryStream("IMAGE");
    res.setContentType("image/jpg"); // or whatever type of file it is.
    ServletOutputStream sout = res.getOutputStream();
    int c;
    while((c = in.read()) != -1)
    sout.write(c);
    in.close();
    sout.close();
    This should write your image to the response output of the servlet.
    Now, where you want your image, you put.
    <img src="/servlet/ImageServlet?FILENAME="thefileIwant">
    This should do what you want... Use your favorite pipe copy method to get the input stream to the output stream. If you are worried about overhead and scaling like "breakfast" said (it CAN be a problem in high access sites), then you can add an image caching scheme and get really complex.... But this is a rough idea on what to do.
    Hope this helps.

  • Fetch records from Database based on Input value

    Hi Experts,
    In my mobile application, I have designed one input field with F4 help or input assist. I need to fetch records from database based on that input and need to display records in table.
    My question is:
    How to fetch the records from database/back end based on the input value and display them as table format as we are doing in SAP ABAP?
    Here, I need to fetch the records based on input value available in the UI screen and pass that value to gateway, fetch the records from database and need to bind with table in SAPUI5.
    Kindly share the whole process flow with sample code for this requirement. Hope I have explained the requirement in detail.
    Thanks In Advance..
    Regards,
    Arindam Samanta.

    Hi,
    Try something like this.
    In this, I am passing From date, To date, RelGrp, RelStr, Uname as input. Then I am storing those values in variables and passing this data in Odata request.
    OData.read({ requestUri: "http://xxxx:8000/sap/opu/odata/sap/Z188_PO_SRV/pos?$filter=Docdate le datetime'"
                    + todateformat+"T00:00:00' and Docdate ge datetime'"
                    + fromdateformat+"T00:00:00' and RelGrp eq '"
                    + relcode +"'and RelStr eq '"
                    + relstg +"'and Uname eq '"
                    + username+ "' "},
      function (data) {
    console.log(data);
    When we are giving correct inputs it will goes to Success function and get the data from back end.
    In console we can see the data.
    Hope this will helps to you.
    Thanks&Regards

    i think normally u will get data from databsae as objects.they are like java beans having getter and setter methods.so you create a collection of those objects like collect all the objects coming from database into an arraylist or....
    suppose you want to populate the dropdown box with say "username" from database object s, your code will look like that
    <html:select property="name">
    <html:options collection="databaseList" property="username" />
    </html:select>
    "databaseList" is collection(say.. ArrayList) of objects you are getting from database.this dropdown will contain all the "usernames" you are getting from database.

Maybe you are looking for
