Tomcat running high utilization on OES11 SP2

I have Groupwise 2014 with webaccess and calendar publishing host installed on the same OES 11 SP2 in virtual environment. Tomcat is slowly eating up available CPUs until the system becomes unstable. Rcnovell-tomcat6 restart will temporarily clear the problem. The problem is described in TID 7010072 however, the document specifically says that the fix is not for OES11. Does anyone know how to address this on OES11?

Firstly I'm not aware of an equivalent TID specific to OES11 so I'll ask
my Novell contacts.
OES11 uses novell-tomcat6 rather than tomcat6 as used with SLES11 with
configuration file at /etc/opt/novell/tomcat6/conf/novell-tomcat6.conf
so in the meantime perhaps make the same change as noted in TID 7010072
for SLES11 to the OES11 file.
Note there is more than one line (re)defining CATALINA_OPTS so I'd be
tempted to add the following line below the last CATALINA_OPTS line:
CATALINA_OPTS="$CATALINA_OPTS -Xthr:minimizeUserCPU -Xms800m -Xmx900m"
Restart the OES11 tomcat process via "rcnovell-tomcat6 restart".

We are experiencing the same issue on our OES GroupWise 2014 server. Restarting novell-tomcat6 fixes temporarily, but always returns. Anyone find anything further with this? Just downloaded (1/12/15) and installed latest available hotpatches for GW2014 and SLES/OES, but did not resolve issue.

Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

OES11 SP2 - Linux File System and NSS Pools & Volumes

Planning to install our first OES11 SP2 server into an existing tree - the
idea is to run this new OES11 server virtualized on VMware ESXi 5.5
The existing tree has two physical NW6.5SP8 servers running eDirectory
Version 8.7.3.10b (NDS Version 10554.64). One of the existing Netware
servers is used for DHCP/DNS, File Sharing from three NSS volumes and
Groupwise 7.0.4 whilst the second server is used for FTP services and
eDirectory redundancy. Ultimately the plan is to have two virtualized OES11
SP2 server with one for file sharing and the other for making the move from
GW7 to GW2012. And we're planning to stick with NSS for file sharing on the
new OES11 SP2 server.
I've come across a couple of posts for earlier versions of OES which
recommended not to put the Linux Native OS File System and NSS storage
pools/volumes on the same hard drive. Apparently the advice was a result of
needing to allow EVMS to manage the drive which could be problemmatic.
I've read the OES11 documentation which says that "The Enterprise Volume
Management System (EVMS) has been deprecated in SLES 11, and is also
deprecated in OES 11. Novell Linux Volume Manager (NLVM) replaces EVMS for
managing NetWare partitions under Novell Storage Services (NSS) pools."
So I'm wondering if there is still a compelling requirement to keep the
Linux Native File System and NSS pools/volumes on separate hard drives or
can they both now safely co-exist on the same drive without causing
headaches or gotchas for the future?

Many thanks for the further reply.
So we can just use the VMWare setup to "split" the one physical drive into
two virtual drives (one for the OS and the second for the pools).
And I've seen posts in other forums about the need for a decent battery
backed cache module for the P410i controller so I'll make sure we get one
(probably 512Mb module + battery).
Can I ask what is the advantage of configuring each VM's virtual disk to run
on it's own virtual SCSI adapter (by setting disk1 to scsi 0:0, disk2 to
scsi 1:0, and so on)?

OS : windows server 2008 R2 standard (64 bit)
intel xeon
RAM : 4 GB
installed product:
DB : Oracle 11g R2
APEX : APEX 4.1
listener : OHS
on resource monitor
Used Physical Memory running high all time (80 %).
is it normal?

My suspicion is that Oracle is grabbing as much memory as it can on startup and it's simply holding on to it. Memory usage is generally not going to go down from some baseline once an application has been started. It's not like the CPU utilization, which can fluctuate quite a bit for any one application. Memory usage will likely increase if you run some memory intensive operations, but doubtful that you will ever see it go down much.

OES11 SP2: Ganglia did stop updating

On one of my OES11 SP2 servers novell-ganglia does not update the RRD
databases any more. The web interface does run fine, but only old data
is available. gmond and gemetad are both up and running. A restart of
these services did not fix the issue.
The configuration is identical to that of other servers where the tool
is just running fine. So I'm a bit lost on where to look for the error.

Has anyone confirmed that this is the issue by simply renaming the first folder that unzips with a non-8.3 name? The rest seem to conform upon quick inspection? I jut completed my install by manually installing each of the different updated agents using the GUI, etc. The automatic update failed with the python error. Certainly would be nerve racking for someone less experienced. Something that I know we all want to avoid so that GroupWise is easier for new administrators to adopt.

My Profile - Fico 8 - High Utilization

I have decided to post my profile and will update as changes are made. I have what I would call a very stable profile. My oldest card, depending on which bureau, ranges from 28.8 to 35.2 years. My average age ranges from 15.8 to 17.9 years. My two newest cards just turned 8 years on July 1st. The only inquiry I have will be 2 years old on July 26th for a phone service. On 2/25/15, I started to be more aware of account balances and did not let a single one increase since then. In the past, I have had balances go up or down but never increased my total utilization. I have one $30 paid medical collection from Oct 2012 and one 30 day late payment which will be 5 yrs on Aug 1st. EX and EQ have both of these shown and TU has neither. My accounts are as follows: 2/25/15 6/9 cards w/balances 44% utilizationBoA 95% utilChase Freedom 62%Chase Slate 37%USAA 93%Universal 24%Kohls $50.00 Scores: EQ 724 TU 734 EX 728 2/26/15Paid USAA down to 93% Scores: EQ 731 TU 734 EX 731 From 2/26/15 to 5/26/15 there were no score changes. During that time I paid the $50 balance on Kohls so had 5/9 cards reporting and brought USAA down to 89%. I have paid USAA down to 78% and will be running a 3B on CCT as soon as it reports, which should be in the next few days. I have also paid BoA down to 79% and will run a 3B when that reports, which should be around the 26th. I also have a heloc at 32% and a mortage at 78%. No installment loans. I will have to check my total and individual utilization to see where it's at on all of the cards. Hope this all makes sense. Will update as changes occur. I am not looking for any advice as I have a solid plan on paying off my cards and many of these are at 0%or low rates. Only one is a higher rate and I will get back to paying that at an accelerated rate now that the two high utilization cards are below 80%.

You may want to pay off low balance cards to get the # of cards reporting a blance down to three from five. The % of cards reporting can be a significant factor on scoring. The primary factor keeping your score down appears to be aggregate utilization percentage. A couple thresholds I have wondered about are 35% and 20%. You are approaching the 35% mark. Utilization on individual cards - at least up to 80% - has not been shown to impact Fico 8 score. It would be interesting to try and isolate impact on score associated with each of the following if your pay down schedule allows:1) Any step change in score as aggregate utilization drops2) Any step change in score associated with reducing % or # of cards reporting a balance

Upgrading OES 11SP1 to OES11 SP2 problems

Trying to upgrade a OES11-SP1 Server OES11-SP2
but run into problems at Final stage of eDirectory Upgrade
Server is looking for OLD Master replica - which no longer exists
History
Some month ago due to server crashes I added a Server (this time as a Virtual Server)
Copied Data includin GW system
Ran NDSREPAIR to make this the Master Replica (old server now disregarded)
deleted OLD CA and recreated CA on the new server
reconfigured GW etc
(single Server - no external replicas - this server)
Everything running fine for some months
Now needed to upgrade to OES11 SP2 and at final stage ie. when upgrading edirectory its looking for OLD IP
only option is ABORT - so my upgraded did not finish
I'm doing this as a Physical Media upgrade as per OES Manual
I went back to my BACKUP of the VM
I made sure /etc/sysconfig/edir_oes11_sp1 file had the correct IP
I went into YaST > OES Configuration and made sure there is NO mention of OLD IP in any of them LDAP, eDirectory, CIFS etc
are there any other config files I need to check??
Any pointers much appreciated.

not sure if this is too late to help - we ran into something similar a
while back. The wrong ip address it was looking for was in a file
/etc/sysconfig/novell/edir2_oes11
after changing the ip address in that file we were able to complete the
ugprade

JNI and Tomcat running on Linux

Hi all!
I have a small problem with calling a native library from my Tomcat running on a linux.
The code is simple enough
System.loadLibrary(myLibrary);I know that when libmyLibrary.so isn't in the java.library.path I get an error at this line. When it is in the path it goes past this line with out problems but on the next line
myFunction(); that is a function within myLibrary i get something like
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: myFunction()The thing is. This exact code when either executed in a standalone java application or from a Tomcat running on windows works with out problem. Tomcat on linux doesn't.
myLibrary uses other libraries on a different path and my guess is that tomcat for some reason won't allow access to those. The security manager however doesn't give me any errors, nor does tomcat itself other than the UnsatisfiedLinkError.
Anyone running Tomcat on linux and using native libraries or perhaps just knows alot about this?

Are you sure you are not running into a class loader issue? Does this occur the very first LoadLibrary call or after the first successfull call?
It could be that your JNI or bridge has already been loaded by another class loader in the tomcat class loader hierarchy and this would result in the UnsatisfiedLinkError.

Mac OSX 10.6.8 Garage Band '11. This error happens occasionally : I am forced to power-off-on. Pop-up states that error info will be sent to apple. I never hear back from apple. Second prob: Fan sometimes comes on, runs high speed, then slowly stops.

First thing to do is a SMC Reset, you can find instructions at:

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!!!!
Then try Repairing Disk Permissions, do this at least 2x. You will find this in Disk Utility which is located in Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility.
Finally you may need to uninstall Garage Band and reinstall. You may have to use Pacifist to do this, you can find it at:

Fan running high, Windows Vista

I - finally - have Windows Vista Ultimate running properly on my MacBook Pro. But I notice that after I use it for about 10 minutes the fan starts to run high/fast.

Install InputRemapper. That will insure that the fans run at a minimum 1000 rpm to keep things cool and heat doesn't build up.
Install SpeedFan to monitor the thermal sensor temps - unfortunately it doesn't automatically control fans as it should.
Otherwise, seems like something is causing system to run hot, and for me, it always took hours before I saw that before I started using InputRemapper.

There are a couple of interesting things in the debug output you included, firstly there are some unsupported rates by the clients, in other words do you have some 802.11b clients trying to connect? Because I think you may have unsupported the 'b' rates on the controller. So either - ensure you have no 'b' clients or start supporting 'b' rates again (1, 2, 5.5, 11)
Secondly there some rogue AP containment going on, this can cause either your AP to have a high CPU, f there are multiple rogue APs being contained, or it may be that your own clients are being de-authenticated by another wireless network in the area - in other words, your network is under attack.

Updatinng N95-1 Running NSU compatible with XP sp2

Please Help. I run NSU comptatible with XP sp2. I started to update the phone. NSU downloaded the 116.2 MB software and started to update the phone. It says etsimated time 15 mins but I ve been waiting more than 30mins. What should I do? THe current firmware version of the phone is 12.0.013
and the new version that nsu detected is 21.0.016.

You should hope, that the phone didn´t crash while flashing the firmware, because in that case you might have to take it to a Nokia Care Center.
I´d wait another 15min and close all other applications and see if it goes on.
After that i would unplug it, close NSU, restart NSU, plug in the phone when asked for it and pray it is recognized...

How do I cope with the Adobe Media Encoder running high cpu consuming.
This always happens when I do a render using Adobe Media Encoder CS6.
I was annoyed because I was 100% cpu.
is there a solution?
