Too many trace files generated by program ORACLE.EXE (J001) in "bdump"
Hi,
Please help!
the following trace file messages have been created in my "bdump" folder about every 6 minutes, so it generates about 200 files per hours. Can someone tell me how to solve the error or stop the trace files be generated. Thanks.

No version number and not enough information in what you posted to help you.
Did this just start?
If so what actions preceded it?
Or is this a new install?
Have you tried bouncing the instance?
If it were my system I would have already searched the knowledgebase at metalink and opened an SR if I couldn't find a solution. Did you?

Too many trace files apparently created on behalf of Health Monitor
Every ~10 minutes I see two pairs of trc+trm files that appear to be nothing more than a nuisance. A nuisance because if you don't get rid of them, then commands such as "ls -lt | head" take too long to complete. Even after setting disablehealth_check=true, the files still keep coming. The only thing I can find is a correspondence between the rows in v$hm_run and these trace files.
The RDBMS appears to be working fine and there's nothing in the alert log that would explain their existence. Having said that, I'll go ahead and admit that I don't these are false negatives but it sure looks like they are.
Below is a sample of the two trace files in the 4 files that get created every 10 minutes. Thanks.

When I list hm rows (from x$dbkrun I presume), it shows this detail (which repeats many, many times)

NUM_INCIDENTS 0
ERR_NUMBER 0

The corresponding data from v$hm_run (and the view definition itself) show that status = 5 means 'COMPLETED'. The interesting thing is that RUN_MODE.RUN_MODE is 'REACTIVE'. This seems to say that it's not a proactive thing. But if something is reacting, then why is it showing no error (i.e., ERR_NUMBER = 0)? -
Thanks for taking my question!
I just installed 11g and I have a ton of .trc and .trm files. A trc file and trm file is created for just about everything - even Rman backups. I prefer these jobs to show in the alert log not independent trc files.
Has anyone experienced this issue with 11g? Is there a way to stop the trace files from taking over:)
Thanks, KahtieThere's no way to stop,but to maintain ADR (Automatic Diagnostic Repository) :

Too many archive file generated
Hi there,
I'm doing a load test that insert 12 meg data into a test table. Nobody is on the database except me. My online redo log size 200 meg. Why did the database did two log switches when on 12 meg data inserted to the database? My database version is 10.2.0.2.
thanksA typical redo record has a minimum size of around 200 bytes. Before you worry about the data it contains, remember it has to hold details about the block being changed and the undo block being used to hold the undo for that change and various pointers and other bits of structural information. You then have two redo records per row inserted - one for the table change and one for the index changed. 2 * 200 * 1000000 gives you about 400Mb, which fits your observation of two log file switches with 200Mb log files.

Getting java.io.IOException: Too many open files+ClassNotFoundException
Dear All
We have a web application deployed on Rational Application Developer 6.0 (Operating System is Windows 2000 professional) our users are randomly getting java.io.IOException: Too many open files+ClassNotFoundException when they click on some servlet or jsp link, but they are getting this error randomly for example when they click some link they may get these exceptions but refreshing page or clicking once again on same link executes servlet successfully.If anyone could help on this topic we will be grateful
ThanksI think this these two exceptions are occuring in differrent environment
java.io.IOException is occuring under heavy load to web server its stack trace is as follows:

this error always occurs in reference to logindetails class this clas is used to make a session check on different roles in our project for e.g., user having end user role should not be able to log in as a user having admin role
we have included a sessioncheck.jsp in our every jsp page in this jsp we have simply used logindetails class as useBean and called its getresource() method
above stacktrace is from our live application server
while testing same project on our local system we are not getting too many open files exception but we are getting following ClassNotFoundException

Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key
Hi OAF Gurus,
Currently we are implementing R12 Upgrade , for this we have deployed all the custom OAF Application related files on to the the respective JAVA_TOP folder.
We have a custom municipal postal application which tracks the Postal Details.
The page runs perfectly fine without any error in 11i instance, but the same is erroring out In R12.
In R12 it shows an error as Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[112010 2014-10-01]
here 112010 is nothing but the postal code id and 2014-10-01 is the Effective Start Date
We have a custom table as xxad_postal_codes_f (Date Track table)which contains the postal_code_id and effective_start_date (primary key is combination of postal_code_id and effective_start_date ).
The Table already contains a row for postal_code_id = 112010 and Effective_Start_date = Sysdate.
Now we want to update the entry for the same postal code with the Id being same as 112010 and Effective_Start_date as 2014-10-01 through custom PostCodeChangePG
at the time of save we are getting an error as Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[112010 2014-10-01]
The table doesn't contain any of the data mentioned ([112010 2014-10-01]) at the time of insertion, hence there should not be any duplication of primary key but still we are getting the error.
Please let us know how can we handle this..?
Below is the code which is getting called on Click of Save button of PostCodeChangePG
if (pageContext.getParameter("Apply") != null)
PCodeCoWorkerBase coWorker = getCoWorker(pageContext, webBean);
coWorker.processApply();
Code in PCodeCoWorkerBase
public void processApply()
String postalCodeId = UIHelper.getRequiredParameter(pageContext, "postalCodeId");
Date startDate = UIHelper.getRequiredDateParameter(pageContext , "EffectiveStartDate");
Serializable[] postalCodeData = (Serializable[]) applicationModule.invokeMethod( "insertPostalCodeMajorChange", params, paramTypes );
finalizeTransactionAndRedirect( postalCodeData );
Code in Application Module
public Serializable[] insertPostalCodeMajorChange ( String postalCodeId, Date date )
PCodeAmWorker amWorker = new PCodeAmWorker(this);
return amWorker.insertMajorChange( postalCodeId, DateHelper.convertClientToServerDate( getOADBTransaction(), date )
Code in PCodeAmWorker
public Serializable[] insertMajorChange ( String postalCodeId, Date date )
// Get the view objects we need from the application module
OAViewObject viewObject = (OAViewObject) applicationModule.getPCodesVO();
PCodesVORowImpl currentRow = (PCodesVORowImpl) viewObject.getCurrentRow();
currentRow.validate();
currentRow.setEffectiveStartDate(date);
currentRow.setComment1(currentRow.getNewComment());
// Create a new row based on the current row
PCodesVORowImpl newRow = (PCodesVORowImpl) viewObject.createAndInitRow(currentRow); //This is failing out and gives the error
// Get the new effective start date as entered by the user
Date effectiveStartDate = currentRow.getEffectiveStartDate();
// Calculate the previous period's effective end date
Date previousEffectiveEndDate = DateHelper.addDays(effectiveStartDate, -1);
// Refresh the current row (the one changed by the UI) with the data it had at the beginning of the transaction
currentRow.refresh(Row.REFRESH_UNDO_CHANGES);
// The current row will now represent data for the the previous period set the effective end date for the previous period
currentRow.setEffectiveEndDate(previousEffectiveEndDate);
// Insert the newly created row that now represents the new period
viewObject.insertRow(newRow);
applicationModule.apply();
return generateResult(newRow);
PCodesVO() is based on PostalCodeEO
below is the code from PostalCodeEOImpl
public void create(AttributeList attributeList)
// NOTE: This call will set attribute values if the entity object is created with a call to vo.createAndInitRow(..)
super.create(attributeList);
if (getPostalCodeId() == null)
setPostalCodeId(getOADBTransaction().getSequenceValue("XXAD_POSTAL_CODES_S"));
if (getEffectiveStartDate() == null)
setEffectiveStartDate(getOADBTransaction().getCurrentDBDate());
After diagnosing the issue we found that the error is on the code of AMworker file while creating a new row PCodesVORowImpl newRow = (PCodesVORowImpl) viewObject.createAndInitRow(currentRow);
we tried so many things such as clearing entity cache, VO cache, validating for duplicate primary key but still not able to resolved this.
Please advice how to insert a new row on the PCodesVORowImpl without any exception.
Thanks,
PallaviHi ,
One question here , if you are udating a existing record then why you are trying to create a new row
PCodesVORowImpl newRow = (PCodesVORowImpl) viewObject.createAndInitRow(currentRow);
Thanks

Since, the database was not running, I tried to startup the database, I then came across the following which is my problem (Why so many files are open? Linux OS error says too many files open. See below,

Can anybody has run into such problem and guide me to a solution, please?
ThanksHi,
yes, this DB was functioning o.k. this configuration script was part of RMAN daily backup.
Last night the backup failed. So, when I opened "Failed job" in the EM, I saw this type of messages.
That was the starting point. Gradually, I tried to narrow down on to the actual problem and found the findings as I have posted.
One way of sovling problem, I thought that, all these processes I would kill and then try to open the database, it might startup. However, that wouldnot lead me in ensuring this won't occur again.
That's why I am trying to understand why it should open, so many processes (why spawn so many .flb files?) Any thoughts you have around this?
I will try to restart the OS as the last resort.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

WLS 10.3.5 on RHEL 5.4, SocketException: Too many open files
Hi
I'm running Weblogic server 10.3.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Tikanga), with Java jdk1.6.0_27.
My order handling application, when receiving client orders, needs to make outbound SOAP calls to fulfill the order. During a performance test, we got following errors:
####<Feb 10, 2012 2:28:41 PM ICT> <Critical> <Server> <KKMOMAPP2> <KKMOMPE2> <DynamicListenThread[Default]> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <> <1328858921806> <BEA-002616> <Failed to listen on channel "Default" on 172.24.106.81:4095, failure count: 1, failing for 0 seconds, java.net.SocketException: Too many open files>
I monitored the java process of this application, when the "Too many open files" error happened, it had 1388 open file descriptors, among which 655 were sockets.
I also monitored the total open file descriptors of the weblogic user account, the count was around 6300 during this error.
These numbers are far smaller than the file limits configured on OS:
- Under weblogic account, ulimit -n shows 65536
- /proc/sys/fs/file-max shows 772591
- Following lines are already in /etc/security/limits.conf
weblogic soft nofile 65536
weblogic hard nofile 65536
weblogic soft nproc 16384
weblogic hard nproc 16384
I did another test using a simple java program to open large number of sockets under weblogic account. It has no problem to open 15,000 sockets. It seems the file descriptor limit is indeed quite high, but for some reasons, the Weblogic process fails even when it has merely 1388 open files. Are there other Linux or Weblogic parameters I should tune? Or anything else I missed?
Thank you very much
NingHi All,
Any help on this issue ?
Thank you,

Java.util.zip.ZipException: Too many open files on Linux
Hi,
We have web application running on Caucho's resin server on jdk 1.5.0_11 and Red hat Linux. We are noticing that java process is running out of file handles within 24-30 hours. We have file limit of 5000 which it consumes in 24 hours throwing 'java.util.zip.ZipException: Too many open files'.
I have made sure all sorts of file handles are closed from application point of view. Here is the snapshot of lsof (list of file handles) from java process. The following list keeps growing until it runs out of limit. Do you have tips/suggestions on how to mitigate this problem (considering we dont want to increase ulimit for this process)? Also, can you make out any thing more from the description of file handles like, are they unclosed POP3 connections or URL connection to external sites?

Intermittent too many open files error and Invalid TLV error
Post Author: jam2008
CA Forum: General
I'm writing this up in the hopes of saving someone else a couple of days of hair-pulling...
Environment: Crystal Reports XI Enterprise / also runtime via Accpac ERP 5.4
Invalid TLV error in Accpac
"too many open files" error in event.log file
Situation:
Invalid TLV error occurs seemingly randomly on report created in CR Professional 11. Several days of troubleshooting finally lead to the following diagnosis:
This error occurs in a report that contains MORE THAN 1 bitmap image.
The error only shows up after 20 or more reports have been generated sequentially, WITHOUT CLOSING the application that is calling the report. In our case the Invoice Report dialog within Accpac. This same error occurred in a custom 3rd party VB.NET app that also called the report through an Accpac API.after getting this message you need to do 2 things:
1. delete the current workspace because it contains some bad data in one the config files - failure to delete the workspace will result the error message to appear even if trying to upload a single file.
2. add to DTR files in groups - no more than 500 in a single add. -
Actually, the stuff works in interpreted mode.
It's only when having the server partition compiled that this happen.

Hi,
running a server partition that reads a configuration file,
and apparently doen't close it after, I have that exception:
SYSTEM ERROR: System Error: Too many open files, opening '....'with mode
'r'
Class: qqos_FileResourceException
1) Is there such a limit, or does this rely only on the OS one ?
2) How is this error not trapped, as I only got itinteractively, whereas
my server log does a exception trap/segmentation fault,
thanlks

As described in the Technote 10981 some Forte programs (Nodemanager and
router) handle correct the high-file descriptor-use problem. It is possible
that Forte interpreter do it correct too.

Too many open files in system cause database goes down
Hello experts I am very worry because of the following problems. I really hope you can help me.
some server features
OS: Suse Linux Enterprise 10
RAM: 32 GB
CPU: intel QUAD-CORE
DB: There is 3 instances RAC databases (version 11.1.0.7) in the same host.
Problem: The database instances begin to report Error message: Linux-x86_64 Error: 23: Too many open files in system
and here you are other error messages:
ORA-27505: IPC error destroying a port
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:close failed with status: 9
ORA-27301: OS failure message: Bad file descriptor
ORA-27302: failure occurred at: skgxpdelpt1
ORA-01115: IO error reading block from file 105 (block # 18845)
ORA-01110: data file 105: '+DATOS/dac/datafile/auditoria.519.738586803'
ORA-15081: failed to submit an I/O operation to a disk
At the same time I search into the /var/log/messages as root user and I the error notice me the same problem:
Feb 7 11:03:58 bls3-1-1 syslog-ng[3346]: Cannot open file /var/log/mail.err for
writing (Too many open files in system)
Feb 7 11:04:56 bls3-1-1 kernel: VFS: file-max limit 131072 reached

I think I get clear about the cause, maybe I need to increase the fs.file-max kernel parameter but I do not know how to set a good value. Here you are my sysctl.conf file and the limits.conf file:
sysctl.conf
kernel.shmall = 2097152
kernel.shmmax = 17179869184
kernel.shmmni = 4096

fs.file-max = 6553600
net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 1024 65000
net.core.rmem_default = 4194304

10053 - no trace file generated
Hi,
no 10053 trace file is generated in the diag directory.
sql_trace = true
trace_enabled = true
i set
ALTER SESSION SET TRACEFILE_IDENTIFIER = 'TEST';
ALTER SESSION SET EVENTS='10053 trace name context forever, level 1';
but there is no trace file generated.
Something seems to be missing.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Best Regards
user11368124thanks for your messages.
@Dom Brooks
the Oracle release is 11.2 running on Ubuntu.
Added flushing pool. That statement was missing.
But unfortunately the 10053 trace file is still not generated.
i am running the following query mentioned in the article "Examining the Oracle Database 10053 Trace Event Dump File" of Steve Callan:
alter system set TRACE_ENABLED = true;
alter system set SQL_TRACE = true;
alter session set statistics_level=all;
--alter session set max_dump_file_size = unlimited;
--oradebug setmypid
--oradebug unlimit
--oradebug event 10053 trace name context forever, level 1
ALTER SESSION SET TRACEFILE_IDENTIFIER = 'TEST';
alter session set events '10046 trace name context forever, level 12';
alter session set events '10053 trace name context forever, level 1';
-- plan_table exists
select * from plan_table
-- flushing pool
alter system flush shared_pool;
explain plan for
SELECT ch.channel_class,
c.cust_city,
t.calendar_quarter_desc,
SUM(s.amount_sold) sales_amount
FROM sh.sales s,
sh.times t,
sh.customers c,
sh.channels ch
WHERE s.time_id = t.time_id
AND s.cust_id = c.cust_id
AND s.channel_id = ch.channel_id
AND c.cust_state_province = 'CA'
AND ch.channel_desc in ('Internet','Catalog')
AND t.calendar_quarter_desc IN ('1999-01','1999-02')
GROUP BY ch.channel_class, c.cust_city, t.calendar_quarter_desc
ORDER by 1,2,3,4;

WL10 Compiler executable.exec error "too many open files" deploying ear
When I try to deploy an ear containing a web module and some ejb modules, I obtain this error:

Do you have any idea of what is happening?
Below the environment specifications:
JVM Version: jrockit_150_11
JVM Heap: 512
Web Logic: 10.0.1.0
Server: Hewlett Packard DL585 G2
OS: Linux / 2.6.5-7.287.3.PTF.345489.1-smp
Thank you, bye,
MarcoHello Marco.
When you try to deploy an EAR weblogic server at the time of deployment unjar's it and compiles the files and so on. Every Operating system has a limit on how many number of files can be opened by a process. If your EAR is big then the number of files which WLS will unjar will also be large hence you hit the limit. By splitting your ear into 2, you are splitting wls task into smaller parts, which means the number of files it unjars at a time is less.
The following note tells what needs to be done to avert this issue.
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/doc.1111/e14772/weblogic_server_issues.htm#CHDGFFHD
