Tool changes to pointer on mouse click

Help! All of a sudden when I use a tool in Photoshop CS4 the brush size or selection tool changes to the arrow on mouse click. I see the brush tip or eraser tip, but when I hold the mouse down it changes to an arrow.

I had this happening too under CS4 with Snow Leopard.
I went to preferences / cursors, and changed the cursors options, then changed them back, and it fixed it.

  • How to change dynamic text on mouse click of an object

    Here is my Project File.
    I'm wanting to change dynamic text when an object is clicked.
    I created 3 dynamic text boxes under "Selected Colors" and gave them instance names of selected_roof_color, selected_trim_color and selected_wall_color.
    When the user clicks a color (ie Arctic White) and then clicks say the roof, I want the "Selected Color" to display "Arctic White" to the right of "Roof:".
    The colorable areas on the building have been given instances of roof, walls and trim.
    I used this tutorial to change in the textbox underneath the colors when you mouse over a color.
    Thank you for your assistance.

    My first button color is Arctic White and it has an instance of arcticwhite.
    The actionscript for the Arctic White Button is:
    on (release) {
        _root.fillColor = 0xf3f5f4;
        _root.brush.gotoAndStop(1);
    The roof button has an instance of selected_roof_color and my dynamic text field where I want "Arctic White" to appear is given an instance of selected_roof_text.
    Using your suggestion, my main Actionscript now has the following
    roof.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,roof);
    function roof(e:MouseEvent):void{
    selected_roof_text.text="roof";
    Looks like I've still got something incorrect as the selected_roof_text isn't changing when I click a color onto the roof.
    Can you explain what the F in "roofF" is?  Is that a typo?

  • Need to loop to certain point on mouse-click

    Hello,
    for work I am trying to create a visual for a simple electric circuit. What I want is that when the circuit opening is clicked, it closes and the light bulb comes on. When it is clicked again, it opens and the light bulb turns off.
    I have it working fine when I try to play it one time through. However, I do not know how to send it back to the beginning and run through the entire timeline again.
    On frame 1 I have this actionscript:
    stop();
    movieClip_1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayFromFrame_3);
    function fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayFromFrame_3(event:MouseEvent):void
    gotoAndPlay(2);
    This plays till frame 11, which has the script:
    movieClip_1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayFromFrame);
    function fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayFromFrame(event:MouseEvent):void
    gotoAndPlay(13);
    stop();
    It then plays till the end (frame 24), where I put in the script:
    movieClip_1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayAtFrame);
    function fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayAtFrame(event:MouseEvent):void
    gotoAndPlay(2);
    Everything works great, even when it is sent back to frame 2. The problem is that when it reaches 11 again, clicking the mouse always sends it back to 2 instead of on to 13.
    I hope this makes sense, I don't really know any better ways to explain it. It's probably a simple fix, but I'm new to actionscript and this has been driving me crazy. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Edit Spry Menu Bar using Mouse Click

    Hello…
    I created a Spry Menu Bar and it's working just fine. But on phones and Tablets the submenu doesn't work because it's a mouseover, is it possible to change it to a mouse click?
    Thanks!

    Yes, but it needs a lot of JS coding to do so.
    A better solution is to use a jQuery or pure CSS menubar or visit http://www.projectseven.com/ for a commercial version

  • Mouse click point is not accurate

    Has anyone ever had an issue with the mouse click coordinates not being accurate? For example, when I click on my canvas with the Rectangular Selection Tool, the point being clicked is actually 10 pixels below where the mouse is pointing! It causes much unnecessary headache...
    Thanks for reading!

    How about giving some relevant information (see link)?
    How To Get Help Quickly!
    If you work on CS4 you could rotate through the Screen Modes (hit F three times) to correct the issue, which occurs when opening or creating a file in Full Screen Mode.

    @Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
    UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
    Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
    You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
    Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
    Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
    Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
    IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
    You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
    Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.
    I didn't have the exact same problem as you, but my dilemma was close enough. Good luck!

  • :system.cursor_block value does not change when mouse click

    Form created with Forms version 6.0.8.8.0. Consists of a control block that has the toolbar buttons, a filter control block that contains item, and a data block. The filter control block and data block are on a tabbed canvas. There are 3 tabs with corresponding filter control block and data block on each.After the data block is queried, code sets the navigation to the control block with the go_item built-in. The user would use a mouse click on the filter control block on one of the tabs to activate an LOV, code is in a generic when-mouse-click trigger that will determine the item focus with the value in the system variable :system.cursor_block. Works for the first tab. Does not work for 2nd or 3rd tab. On-error trigger does not capture any error. Values for :system.cursor_block for tab 1 show that value before mouse click is 'control.detail' and after mouse click is 'filter.a'. For tabs 2 and 3 the value before mouse lick is 'control.detail' and after mouse click is 'control.detail' instead of 'fiter.b' or 'filter.c'. Verified that the 3 filter blocks are identical. Can anyone shed some light on this anomoly? I have been looking for this solution (many different iterations and changes to trap it) for too long.

    :System.Cursor_Block reports the name of a block, NOT a BlockName.ItemName.
    Use :System.Trigger_Item with your mouse click, or :System.Cursor_Item.

  • Changing mouse click text select in term windows

    Minor nit/question -
    When you click on text in the terminal window, it only selects up to a non-word character (i.e. it stops selecting at punctuation, so trying to click on Foo::Bar to select it all, it goes first to Foo (stopped by the ':') and then selects the entire line on the next click.
    Most Linux flavors seem to go by whitespace - first click selects everything that is between whitespace, even if it includes non-alpha characters (thus you get Foo::Bar with one click); then the next click selects the whole line. Having gotten used to that, the Mac behavior is... annoying.
    So - how does one change it? Can it be user-config'd?
    Thanks for any assistance.

    I have actually found out what the issue is. I have called a javascript method onblur of the text element which is present in the suggest region. This onblur method is interfering with the mouse click event of the auto complete suggestions shown. If i remove the onblur method, everything is working fine. I have simulated the issue in the html file present in the compressed folder attached herwith. In that i am actually throwing an alert on blur where as in real scenario i have some other functionalities to be handled on blur.
         For clarity i will explain the real scenario as well. When the user selects a suggestion from the auto complete div, the value will be placed in the text box and on blur of the text box, the dataset will be filtered based on the value in the text box.  Few pointers on this issue:
    The on blur functionality does not interfere when we select a suggestion using down arrow in key board.
    If i use mouse click to select then i have to wait for few milliseconds extra with the mouse clicked on the value before releasing it, so that the selected value is available in the textbox. Within this few milliseconds, the onblur function gets executed and then self.nodeClick is executed thus placing the value in the textbox. But forcing the user to keep the mouse clicked on the value for sometime will not sound good.
         Kindly advise as to how this issue could be handled.

  • Type tool issue: Type in saved document changes font when reopened and clicked on.

    I've recently started getting a  problem with document which I've  saved a type layer to with a particular font. Reopening the document for reuse, I find clicking on the type with the type tool changes it to a different font. I've done a check on this and it was a known issue with CS6 and there is an adobe update to install: Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop 13.0.1 update for Adobe Photoshop CS6 : Trouble is, the install doesn't take and is advising me to seek customer support. Any ideas anyone? Recreating the file and font everytime (which is a work around)  is a pain.

    I suspect a damaged install.
    Let's do an uninstall/reinstall. Be sure your account has admin privileges.
    Uninstall CS6, checkmark "Remove Preferences"
    Use the CS Cleaners to remove anything that might interfere with a reinstall
    Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    Use Disk Utility to repair permissions.
    Reinstall CS6 and immediately apply the update.
    If you need a fresh CS6 installer, you can get it here.

  • Changing mouse click behavior on JTable

    Hi everybody,
    The default behavior of a mouse click on a jTable is selection of the cell.
    I would like to change the behavior so when the user clicks once on the cell, the content can be marked and is ready to change. That would give the user the same feeling as Excel.
    Is there any way that I can do this without writing a new mouse/event handler?
    thanks,

    With a call to getSelectionModel() of JTable, you can get a reference to the ListeSelectionModel.
    This is in fact an instance of DefaultListSelectionModel, which allows you to set a new listener object using addListSelectionListener(ListSelectionListener l).
    All you have to do then is implement a custom ListSelectionListener which handles events as you want.
    Unfortunately there isnt going to be a way of avoiding writing a Listener, but this is how you would go about it.

  • Relate mouse click position to points on graphs

    I am working with labview 7, on windows XP. I am trying to relate between a mouse click on a waveform chart to a point on the chart. All I managed to do so far is relate with a cursor, but the cursor has to be dragged and I want the user just to click on the graph. Is that possible?

    Hello
    Attached is a labview example lv 7.0 about how to map cursor coordinates to graph units.
    Perhaps Chilly Charly can post his vis en 7.0

  • Fullscreen disable page change on mouse-click

    Hey there!
    I created a form that automatically switches to full screen mode.
    If users now click into the form (not directly on a checkbox etc.) the next page pops up. Is it possible to deactivate page change on mouse-click?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    There is an AcroForm script for turning automatic page advancement OFF:
    app.fs.clickAdvances = false;
    I suspect that this can be translated to XFA javascript "as is", but it will be a while before I can check.
    Have a go and maybe someone may have the solution as well.
    I will post back later if I get in working in LC Designer.
    Good luck,

  • Lasso tool problem, using alt key, no click within 5sec causes loss of active window focus

    I have been using Photoshop since ver. 4 and have never seen this happen.  The only difference is now I'm on Windows 7 64bit.  Did not have this problem with XP.  Current version CS3 Extended.
    Problem: While using Lasso tool with the alt key if I do not make a mouse click in 5 seconds Photoshop's active window loses focus for a split second and then the first point of my selection and the last point will connect.  Thus, wasting my time and my attempt at a selection.
    I have task bar buttons to "Never combine".  I see for that split second what appears to be another program button opening but it is so fast that I cannot see if there is a name on the task bar button.  The current Photoshop button moves to the right and back too fast.  This all happens very quickly as the window loses focus.
    I first thought it was some another program but after many searches found nothing I can identify as the cause.
    Right before posting this I had a thought and did a test that concluded in the 5 sec rule. For over a minute I held down the alt key and made a mouse click within the 5 second window of time and there was no loss of window focus.  While still holding down the alt key in this same test but not making a mouse click within 5 seconds the window lost focus and the tool stopped with my selection.
    I have a wireless Logitech M305 mouse that this morning updated the driver to its current version 5.20.51, Control Center version: 6.20.50.
    I have not tested a wired mouse, yet.
    Any help would be appreciated.  Anyone else seen this?  Windows 7 64 bit the culprit?????

    UPDATE
    After I removed Photoshop from Norton 360's Administrative Settings_Silent Mode Settings_User-Specified Programs, I did not have the problem with the lasso tool that I first had with loss of window focus.  I then put Photoshop back in the 360's settings and the lasso tool still worked, BUT...............
    After a couple of days of not using Photoshop and turning computer on and off in that time, I tried Photoshop again and the same problem, it came back.  Loss of focus after 5 seconds of not clicking mouse.  So, once again I open Norton and took Photoshop out of the User-Specified Programs and the problem went away, no loss of focus.
    So, I will see if after a couple of days of turning on and off the computer and NOT putting Photoshop in the Norton's User-Specified Programs setting if the problem stays fixed.
    I don't have to have Photoshop in the Norton's setting I just thought that it would be a good idea so Norton didn't try to do any background processes or whatever while I was working in Photoshop or I was rendering a filter or something.
    Another thought I also have the Full Screen Detection setting ON.  I do use Photoshop in Full Screen mode so maybe when having both the Full Screen mode and User-Specified Programs setting selected it makes something go wacky.
    Hope this helps anyone having the same problem I "did".  Will post back after a few days to let you know if focus problem is gone.
    If it does relieve the problem then I will leave Photoshop off the list in Norton.  No sense in trying to fix something that really doesn't matter, really.
    UPDATE 2
    January 8, 2011, I tried the lasso tool again and it still appears to be working. I did my standard test of holding the alt key and clicking to make selections then not click for 5 seconds or more and I did not lose window focus.  I do not know why the Norton 360 setting triggers the loss of focus but since I turned that setting off I'm not having any problem.
    Will update again if something changes.
    Anyone else out there with the same problem that was solved using this method?

  • Buggy mouse cursor position (Jumps around to random spot on mouse click)

    I've only noticed this annoying quirk in photoshop CS4. This only happens when using the tools in photoshop, and not in any other programs.
    When using the tools in photoshop, every so often, some times more often then others, the tools will jump to a random place on (and many times FARE off) screen on mouse click. As in the tool is no longer where my mouse is, but is registering elsewheer.
    A few examples. Working with the pen tool to line something, click a control point to set it, go to click to set another one and that point is now being dragged around well off my screen even though the mouse pointer is on screen.
    Using the brush tool to color something in and click and the brush is coloring fare above my curser.
    Select something and the selection is jumping here and there each time, go to crop? Click and drag and the grabed part jumps off screen.
    It is random as to when it wants to jump, and where it wants to jump. Some times it happens all the time, others every so often, or times not at all,.
    No settings are ever changed reguarding the mouse, it's just random and ONLY in photoshop with using it's tools. My mouse it's self is not jumping, just where the tool is drawing/putting down whatever is.
    This jumping also seems to be a rather common thing, as I stream my drawing live at times and when it starts doing this I've had many people comment and remark that their copy also does the same thing. Posting a journal entry about it also resaulted in a lot of replies with people facing the same thing.
    Is this a bug in CS4? People have told me to check my mouse settings under the control panel but that shouldn't have anything to do with it when every other program I use does not do this yet photoshop does. Flash don't, dreamweaver don't, illustrator don't. Painter, bryce, max, etc etc none of them do it. Only photoshop and only when I am using a tool. It's effects are still random.

    Hi,
    I have the same problem as well. I don't think it's related to the mouse hardware at all- on mine the mouse curser stays in the same position but Photoshop registeres is elsewhere! If I let go (of holding the mouse button), the mouse is still where I left it. I've had this problem since Photoshop CS4 x64 but the problem still happens on Photoshop CS5 x64 (it was fine at first but after about a month of use now CS5 has started having the same problem).
    I've had the problem for a while (almost a year now) and is really annoying! I dont have any tablets, and I've changed my mouse a few times. I am using a laptop with Windows Ultimate x64. It only happens in photoshop, it's fine in Adobe InDesign.
    Hopefully someone might come up with a solution!
    Thanks to anyone who can help me/us
