Is there a tool that you can use to query data inside a data domain? Like SQLDeveloper for Endeca?

This is a very valid request. We'll have something shortly after 3.1 is released that probably will fit your needs. We have a component for 2.3, 2.4 and 3.0 already but aren't investing in making it "production ready" since there's a new release coming so soon.
Essentially the component we built lets you run EQL, see the results (limited to top 10) as well as how long the request takes. There's also the ability to issue additional commands (like "clear the cache") that can help with performance testing while writing your queries.
Also, keep in mind that we may decide to "retire" it if something like this is included in the product in a future release.

Approach 1 - Business Partner Opening Balance:
1. Go to Business Partners -> Business Partner Master Data -> find the Business Partner
2. Click on the orange link arrow next to the field 'Account Balance' in the header region of the window.
3. Untick the boxes next to 'Posting date from', 'Display' and 'Display Unreconciled Trans. Only'.
4. Click on the button 'Refresh'.
5. Find 'OB' in the column 'Origin', this is the opening balance journal entry.
Approach 2 - Business Partner Opening Balance:
1. Go to Business Partners -> Business Partner Master Data.
2. Click on the orange link arrow next to the field 'Account Balance' in the header region of the window.
3. Untick the boxes next to 'Posting date from', 'Display' and 'Display Unreconciled Trans. Only'.
4. Click on the button 'Refresh'.
5. Double click on the column header 'Posting Date' to find the earliest transaction on the business partner account. This transaction could be opening balance, verify this with the company accountant.
Approach 3 - G/L Account Opening Balance:
1. Go to Financials -> Chart of Accounts -> click on the account name once.
2. Click on the orange link arrow next to the field 'Balance'.
3. Untick the boxes next to 'Posting date from', 'Display' and 'Display Unreconciled Trans. Only'.
4. Click on the button 'Refresh'.
5. Find 'OB' in the column 'Origin', this is the opening balance journal entry.
Approach 4 - Business Partner and/or G/L Account Opening Balance:
1. If using SAP Business One 2005 SP01 or earlier, go to Reports -> Query Generator -> click on 'Execute'.
2. If using SAP Business One 2007 or later, go to Tools -> Queries -> Query Generator -> click on 'Execute'.
3. Ignore the red system message in the bottom of the screen.
4. Click on the pencil icon in the top left of the window, the field with 'SELECT *' will change colour to white, then yellow when activated by clicking in the field.
5. Copy the query below:
SELECT T0.[TransId], T0.[Debit], T0.[Credit] , T0.[CreatedBy], T0.[TransType] FROM [dbo].[JDT1] T0 WHERE T0.[TransType] = '-2' and T0.[ShortName] = '[%1]'
6. Click on 'Save' and give the query an appropriate name and select the appropriate category.
7. Click on 'Execute'.
8. Click on 'Existing Values'.
9. Select the G/L account or the Business Partner name from the list and click on 'OK'.
10. The system message 'Records retrieved by this query #' (# = number of records) will pop up. Click on 'OK'.

You probably deleted some members from outline that are used by report
I would recommend you to open you report/grid via rep.client and try to find which elements are abcent

End-of-file in communication channel while querying the data

We are using ColdFusion(Windows) to access an Oracle - 8.1.7
database. I have context indexes setup on the data for search
purposes.
If I use a package to query the database and return some values,
when many people use the call to the package I get the following
error:
End-of-file in commnuication channel
And many other users lose connection to the database. The
database, however does not go down.
The same logic works well on the development database where
traffic is less.
If we replace the stored proc call by the individual sql
statements there are no problems. Due to complexity of the
program, I would like to use stored procs instead of sql
statements in the ColdFusion code.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Query picking data for the running request

Hi Guyz,
Am working on BW 3.5,
We run a query on a Multicube on daily basis, the scenario here is when we ran a query during one of the infocube load which was not activated and not ready for reporting (Request for reporting available symbol is missing), even then the query picked data for the request which was still running.

I am newly learning the SAP DMS System.
Suppose if i want to custom query the SAP System the current options that I will use is
1) Query the System throug the Search Page
2) Use ABAP Program and develop the report that is needed and then run the report whenever it is needed.
But i would like to know if there is any other way to take the custom report without going to the development team?

unfortunately I didn't understand your requirement in your description and the relation to DMS.
In the standard there is transaction CV04N, which is the document search transaction, where you can search for document data, classification data, object links, texts.
If you ask for a custom report here, please specify what functionality this report should have in detail.

According to your description, it seems that the output needn’t include the row when EmpID=2. Because the DateTime for it in Table1 doesn’t included between FromDate column and ToDate column. After testing the issue in my environment, we can refer to the
query like below to achieve your requirement:

So I guess your DB might be an SQL Server.
to_date for oracle is equivalent as Convert in SQL Server

How do you query the journal drilldown data using SQL

Hi All,
Appreciate if anybody can assist me into querying the database via SQL query so the journal data includes sub ledger detail.
I found that I cannot link the GL journal batch id (etc.) with the existing sub ledger (AR and AP). Is there any way to perform this query, if not, how can the drill down works?
I needed the guidence since there are certain info that is not available in the journal (rct number, PO no, check no etc). I need to ensure that the data I have is tally with GL journals.
Reasons: doing some recon download to be feeded to a third party system.

Hi there are mappings for the reference fields from AP and AR, so you can buid up the links there. Just look at the reference fields of gl_je_lines and try to identify which is valuable for you.

WebI:Creating a minus query from data providers not using the same universe

Hi there. A client of ours wishes to use Combined Query on multiple universes in the same WebI report. So far, I have heard it is not feasible in WebI. I know it is possible in DeskI. Even the sub-query option is limited to just one universe in WebI. So, I am stuck.
Is there a workaround to creating a minus query from data providers not using the same universe in WebI?

what are the Datasources ? Usually when you create a Sub Query you can choose a seperate Universe.
Maybe if you only see one Universe you only have the rights for this Universe ?!.

Hello,
Current we are using oracle forms 10g R2.
In my database in a table in a particular column for some rows i have value as *#*. In the forms at run time i want to query those rows by entering *#* in that column in enter-query mode.
If i give *# like '#'* in field in enter-query mode it’s querying the records. But i want to make it in such a way to query only giving value as # in that field.
Please suggest any way to overcome this forms default behavior.

Querying SAP Data using native i tools

Can a standard IBM tool like Query/400, SQL, etc. access SAP data? Is the data actually stored in DB2 or in some other form? If it is, what library would you look for?

in theory yes, but not with call ...
You could use STARTRFC or start RFCs on a differerent approach. You could use the not reliable SAPEVT and so on. I would say, for such kind of things, you need a bit consulting in order to discuss the different options and then to make a useful decision for your company.

1)Olap Universe :Please go through by below link for how to create mdx universe.by this way create one connection and select cube or query and by default designer will replicate cube/query in the universe.

2) Create Data federator project on top of Cube and then design universe.

I have already said webi report pull data at run time.there is no need or no way to load data in the universe or webi.
Design a universe and create webi or deski report on top of universe.
