Toolbar placement in 9.x Standard within IE8

I'm having a bit of difficulty with the configuration of a 3rd-party Acrobat plugin (msi installation package) and a custom registry value provided by the vendor that enables the enable the 'Comments and Markup' toolbar, for the Acrobat plugin in IE8, and packaging these registry modifications in a GPO that I can deploy throughout my organization. I can reproduce a desired configuration locally on a workstation or terminal server environment consistently, but when a new domain user logs into enviroment, all of these changes are lost.
My goal is to capture the registry entries consistent with a "good" configuration, and deploy these changes via GPO. Using regshot, it seems that there are over 600+ registry changes HKCU in the Adobe and other various shell folders when I'm able to achieve a 'good' configuraion. I'm at a loss at how to capture these changes in a GPO, or if someone at Adobe knows of a simpler way to approach this.
I realize this seems a bit nebulous, so a description of my workflow may help.
Install Acrobat 9.0 standard. Patch all the way up to 9.5.2
Install 3rd-party vendor .msi plugin
Double click vendor provided .reg file that enables the 'Comments and Markup' toolbar. Without this registry file, 'Comments and Markup' toolbar is not a toolbar that can be normally enabled within .pdf's that are opened via IE8.

Double click vendor provided .reg file to 'freeze' toolbars into where they were set. This works about 90% of the time. If it doesn't, I re-open a .pdf, rearrange the toolbars, and apply the .reg file again. Hopefully it works, if not, keep restarting and trying until it does. If it is successfull, you only have to set it once.
Again though - you can set these changes for an individual user's domain enviroment, but if a new user logs into the same workstation, you have to redo the entire process over gain. I've been battling this for about six months - I'd like to move our organization over to terminal services/VDI, but the way Windows stores registry information, and how dependent we are on this toolbar, we cannot move forward until we solve this.
Also, would this be an issue that Adobe Professional Services may be able to help me with? I certainly wouldn't mind paying to have someone who has experience in this area and is able to solve this issue for us, assist our organization with this.

Let me restate what I had said previously. It's the location of the toolbars and how the toolbars 'hang' within acrobat that's the problem, not the 3rd party plugin. It needs to be set for every user. For example, in the screenshot I provided - I've customized the 'Comments and Markup' toolbar to have black ink on annotations (default is red), enabled the eraser, and deselected a bunch of shapes that are on by default. I then set it to 'hang' on the left hand side of the screen (see the screenshot in my original post). I also disabled 'tasks' and 'page navigation' toolbars, which gives me enough room to fit both the 3rd party plugin/toolbar and the other non-Comments and Markup toolbars into a horizontal pane.
Also, 'Comments and Markup' does not appear by default. The vendor provided a .reg file to ensure the 'Comments and Markup' toolbar is available to select from the toolbar list. Even though it's available to 'enable', the user needs to manually enable it, and then make the customizations listed above for the correct options/hanging protocol.
Is there a way to automate this?

    We are developing a document management application where users can edit documents within the application. Ideally, we would like to display Acrobat within a Window's Form Control, and have the full functionality of Acrobat Standard available. We can accomplish this by using the Window's API to "stuff" the entire Acrobat window, menus and all, inside of the Window's Form, using the SetParent function. However, when we do that, we find that for certain functionality, we encounter errors. For example, the print dialog does not display correctly, and dragging toolbars around causes the application to crash with a memory access error.
    Looking at the Acrobat SDK 9.0, the OpenWindowEx() function would seem the other alternative to display Acrobat Standard within our application. However, this only provides a small subset of the functionality that you get with Acrobat Standard. I've been able to re-add some functionality, like commenting, but not everything, especially options under the Document menu.
    I should add that once we have a Windows Form control that contains the Adobe Standard application, we host it in IE so that it can display within a web application (this feature is built in to .NET/IE).
    Is there any way to make the entire set of Acrobat Standard features available within a Windows application? Or a Web application? Some modification of either of the above methods, or a third alternative?
    All the users of this application have Adobe Acrobat already installed.

    No, there is no way to host the entire Acrobat application outside of Acrobat - only a limited set of functions are available in "external applications". This is by design.

  • Should  Standard Toolbar FIND work on an ALV within a custom container ?

    I have an ALV in a custom container on a screen.
    The FIND and FIND NEXT of the ALV toolbar work fine against the grid.
    Should the FIND and FIND NEXT of the standard toolbar also work against the ALV if they are "activate" in the GUI status?
    If so, what do I call/execute in response to the "FIND" ok-code?
    I've tried calling  the function ALV_POPUP_TO_SEARCH2 and the popup comes up, but it doesn't do anything.
    Please advise at your earliest convenience.

    Absolutely.  Especially as they can paint the picture, and then blame the techies when their fiction is exposed.
    Similarly, we had a situation where the Expense Report WD was failing, and the functional person ensured that everyone knew it was a technical problem and therefore my fault (with SAP as the popular co-conspirator). 
    Sadly the message above the Java stack messages was "No entry in table T706Z  for argument ' '".  Had the functional check their config and all was well.  No one apologised though......
    Last week at a different site the same thing happened (this time with TA20C) but the funky took one look at it and reviewed their config to solve - so they're not ALL the same.

  • Code placement for drop down menu within an animated button

    I have a main menu comprised of 7 buttons; 6 of which are all
    straight forward with an animation. (The animation is that when the
    buttons are rolled over the button extends itself out to the right.
    On the rollout the button returns to its original state.) The 6 all
    function fine.
    The 7th menu button is the same idea but with the edition of
    a two button drop down menu that appears when the main button is
    rolled over. The roll over part is fine. My problem is moving the
    cursor off the main button to get to the sub-menu items without
    having them disappear once the cursor if off the main 7th button.
    Within the time line of the 7th button (all of the buttons
    are movie clip buttons) I put an invisible button, removing the
    sections over both the main button and the sub buttons. I have
    tried the following:
    (I should point out that the labels within the button for the
    animation are an _up, _over and _out states...the buttons animate
    out in the _over label and animate back to the original position in
    the _out label,)
    The code and where I have (unsuccessfully) tried placing it
    are as follows:
    1.) On the invisible button itself (within the main button):
    on (rollOver) {
    gotoAndPlay("_out");
    2.) On the Actions layer (within the main button):
    invisible_btn.onRollOver = function () {
    gotoAndPlay("_out");
    3.) On the Actions layer (on the main timeline...which is
    where the code for the other 6 buttons is and running as should):

    4.) Just a slight variation of #3 (still on the Actions layer
    of the main timeline):

    The result for all four of these options has been the same.
    In rolling over the main button (btnMusic_mc) it does animate out
    as it should, exposing the two sub buttons. But moving the cursor
    off the btnMusic_mc neither allows me to reach the sub buttons nor
    does the btnMusic_mc animate back to its first position (as it
    should). It just snaps back into that position.
    Clearly I am missing something here. Any thoughts would be
    appreciated.

    BTW, it's not a dropdown menu. It's a selection list in a form.

  • Is it possible to adjust the placement of a still image within a clip in iMovie?

    If I place a portrait format image in iMovie and click "Allow black" the image is automatically centred. I would like to range the still image to the left or right to allow for text etc within the frame, but I can't seem to find anything relating to this.

    Here's one way you could do it.
    First, create a project with just the still images you wan to use in your final project.  Basically a slide show of the images you'll being using with their durations adjusted to approximate what they'll be in the final project.
    Now Share that slideshow using Export using QuickTime and the Movie to Quicktime setting.  Import the resulting movie as a new event in iMovie.
    Next, start your final project.  You'll want to lay down a clip of black first.  If you don't have one lying around you can create on by adding a title with a black background but no text in it.
    Now, with Advanced Tools checkin in iMovie>Preference select on of the still images in the event you just created and place it over the black clip and drop it in as picture in picture.  Using the picture in picture adjustment you can move the still around in the frame.

  • Is it possible to place hidden text "behind" or within a jpg image?

    I am using RH 9 to write and edit a user help manual. All the help topics must be searchable from within the Help contents in the application.
    One such topic is Keyboard Shortcuts. The problem is that this topic is a JPG image, so it's not possible to search from it within the Help Contents and Index.
    From my work with MS Word, I know how to place hidden text (transparent) in a textbox behind an image, which would enable a search. Basically, I'd type "Keyboard Shortcut" into the textbox, paste it behind the JPG image, so that when a user types that term in the Search field, they are directed to the location of the JPG.  Can I accomplish this, or the equivalent, in RH9?
    The only other option I can think of is to type the list of shortcuts out, but that's inefficient and time consuming.
    If anyone has any other suggestions for making the JPG (or at least the term "Keyboard Shortcuts") searchable, I'd appreciate it.
    I know MS OneNote allows users to search for text within images.

    Look at the properties for the topic in question. Specifically, the tab labeled General. On that tab is a field where you are able to add Keywords for just such a purpose.

    How can I have volumes I mount in via TrueCrypt show up in "Places" in the Gnome's Toolbar?
    I am indeed mounting the volume to a folder in /media. I've tried placing an entry for the volume (/dev/mapper/truecrypt0 /media/storage [...]) in fstab, but to nothing.
    (I remember that it would show up back in Ubuntu, so I know it's possible somehow.)
    I guess a related question, which would be helpful to know if a potential answerer doesn't knows anything about TrueCrypt in specific, would be: how does Gnome decide what to put in the "Places" menu?

    For the record, for those who care, Gnome 2.22 seems to have fixed this issue.

  • Links in portal toolbar no longer working after navigating within a room

    Hi!
    We have a rather strange problem. Say a user navigates to the collaboration room list ("collaboration" -> "rooms") and enters a room. When he/she then changes the part of the room (e.g. from "Room Discussions" to "Room Documents"), the second row of the top navigation bar gets inoperable.
    Our portal menu looks like this ("=some entry=" means "selected"):
    Intranet
    Help
    Content-Administration
    =Collaboration=
    =Rooms=
    My Tasks
    My Meetings
    After entering a room and changing to any other room page than the one initially shown, the menu jumps to this state:
    =Intranet=
    Help
    Content-Administration
    Collaboration
    =Rooms=
    My Tasks
    My Meetings
    So suddenly the first entry in the top bar is highlighted, not "collaboration" anymore. (I can tell it's always the first entry who gets selected, since not every user's view has "Intranet" as the first entry - and still the first entry gets selected.) From now on, "Rooms", "My Tasks" and "My Meetings" are inoperable. They are still clickable links, but clicking on them causes a javascript error and nothing happens. ("'gNavTree.children[...].children' is null or no object")
    Clicking on "Collaboration" in the top level navigation bar fixes the problem. The page reloads and everything is as it should be. This is reproducible in IE and Firefox. A complete reboot of the portal did not help. This only occurs when browsing within a room. Browsing within other parts of the portal does not have this effect.
    Unfortunately I don't recall which change we made to the portal that caused this. (It definitely worked at some point before.) I do recall, however, that we translated "collaboration" (and only "collaboration") to another term better suited to our needs using the portal content translation feature. However, to rule this out as a cause of the problem I reverted to the original naming and the problem remained. Just thought I'd mention it for what it's worth.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    we have an open call on this issue. SAP replied on the 10th of March:
    "As this DTN issue isn't reproducable on our SP15 system, please upgrade your KM version to PL1, as per NOTE 911395(same as our test system). If for some reason the issue still exists after this upgrade I will further this issue with our Dev colleagues."
    I read the note mentioned (which contains a list of the changes in PL1) and it says nothing about this issue in particular, if I'm not mistaken. Our system is on SP15 (not SP15 PL1), so we'll have to upgrade to PL1 first before we can investigate this any further. I currently don't know when this update is scheduled by our systems engineering department.
    Is your system on PL1 by any chance? If so, then the problem has not been fixed in PL1 - which would be interesting for us to know.

  • Acrobat 9.3 standard and IE8 printing freezes

    I can't believe this is still an issue...its been a known problem since end of last year at least (IE 8 came out in Mar 09?). It freezes my computer such that I have to POWER OFF!!!! I am NOT looking forward to the first time this happens with a user.
    Older version of acrobat same web page on IE8 works ok.
    Has anyone else encountered this and have a workaround for IE8? How do I open or look at issues?
    My users are general....they are most likely to have IE and mostly hopefully doing their autoupdates to ie8. Perhaps they're not as likely to have Acrobat 9 (as opposed to older)...but this is such a bad thing to happen...

    Unfortunately, updating is not an option.  The person cannot update Acrobat because it would violate organizational policy.  He is locked in to Acrobat 9.3.1 for the foreseeable future.  What other options are available?

    In editing an Adobe document the Properties Toolbar does not display even though the Toolbar is checked.     The Toolbar will not display unless the document is exited and all Adobe documents are closed and Adobe is opened again.    Is this a known bug or has anyone else run into this?

    We have definitely ran into this.  Not a clue as to how to fix it, other than close and re-open Acrobat, as you are doing, which creates new issues.

  • Naming standards within the NWDI

    As we're getting ready to dive into a development project with the JDI/NDWI/whatever-it's-called-this-week, I'm working on a set of naming standards.
    What are other folks using for naming standards for SCs, DCs, Tracks, and so forth?  Sap has published some guidelines, but nothing really substantial that could be morphed into a Best Practices document.
    Regarding DC names, SAP seems to be all over the map - sometimes the name of the DC is reflected in the package naming withing the public jar files, sometimes there doesn't seem to be any obvious relationship.
    A thread such as this could be very useful both for me, and anyone else who is just starting to use the Developer Infrastructure, so let's get a bunch of ideas out in the open, and get a discussion going.

    I have noticed that the DC name (without SC name) is apparently the key in SDM, i.e. you cannot deploy two DCs with the same name even if these are in different SCs. This means that reflecting at least part of your package hierarchy in the DC names is essential.

    I need to purchase Adobe Acrobat v. 9 for one of our end users. They are not sure if they
    need Standard, or Professional. They do know they need the "advanced editing" toolbar.
    Is that avail. in Standard, or only in Professional?

    Per the person I spoke to, the "advanced editing" toolbar is avai. with the
    "Standard" edition.
