Toshiba Computer Hardrive Corruption?

Hey ya'll out there,
It's a me Heiseinberg! So let me start of by  telling you about by laptop. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C650, Windows 7 Home Premium. It is about 2 years old and is work related. It had adobe products as well as Microsoft Office nothing too huge. Recently, I had updated my battery to an 8 cell and everything seemed to be working fine. Last night, I had downloaded a mod for a game my brother plays (gta). About 2 hours after this download is when things went wrong. I was working on a word document and had not installed anything major when I realized that the computer was running really slowly. I tried opening my security but it was really really slow at this point.Suddenly the computer froze and randomly shutdown. After this I have tried turning it on and I get two options Start Windows Normally or to Launch Startup Repair. If I do Start Windows Normally it goes to the Starting Windows screen and remains stuck there. If I go to Launch Start up Repair it says loading Windows Files which then takes me to a Black Screen with a mouse and gets stuck there. It does not move at all. I am in need of files in that hard drive. According to my ok~ish technological knowledge I am pretty sure that the hardrive is corrupt. What are  the next steps? It would be great if I could restore it, unfortunately I do not have any backups. The computer does not start in Safe-Mode  or has no last-good known configuration options. What are the next steps as I really need the files in that PC. Please respond as soon as possible,
Heiseinberg

My iPhone 5c has a broken screen and won't let me swipe. I got a new iPhone 5c, but want my stuff to back up onto it. I haven't backed up my old one in over a year because there's not enough storage. How would I back up on iCloud to a Dell or Toshiba computer?

    Hi Linda Loo Loo,
If you have backed up previously to iTunes on a specific computer, even if it has been a while, you may be able to still backup even if you are unable enter the passcode on your iPhone due to a damaged screen. You may find the following article helpful:
If you have previously synced your device with iTunes, you may be able to reset the passcode by restoring the device:
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
If the device is still disabled, or if iTunes does not automatically sync your device, sync the device with iTunes.
When the backup and sync is complete, restore your device.
When iOS Setup Assistant asks to set up your device, choose "Restore from iTunes backup".
Select your device in iTunes and choose the most recent backup of your device.

  • I have an old ipod (5th gen) and I downloaded itunes to my toshiba computer. It says my ipod was formatted by mcintosh and must be restored before i can use on windows. is there a way to transfer my music? ty

I have an old ipod (5th gen) and I downloaded itunes to my toshiba computer. It says my ipod was formatted by mcintosh and must be restored before i can use on windows. is there a way to transfer my music? ty

Not without installing additional software on your computer.  The problem is that your Windows PC cannot read the Mac's disk format.  If the iPod was previously used on a Mac, its storage uses the Mac's disk format.  The Restore process reformats the iPod's disk for use with Windows, but this erases its current content.
There are third-party products that allow Windows to read the Mac's disk format.  For example
    http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive
However, even if your computer is able to read the Mac's disk format, iTunes cannot be used to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  But there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
So, you may be able to do it by first making the iPod's disk readable on a Windows PC, and then using a method (that is not iTunes) to transfer its song files to your computer's drive.  After the song files are on your computer, you can add them to the iTunes library.

  • "An Office 2003 installation on your computer is corrupted and setup cannot continue" error on Office 2010 Pro install

I am currently trying to install Office 2010 Pro Plus onto my machine that has Access 97 and Access 2003, Visio 2003, Excel 2003, PowerPoint 2003, and Word 2003 installed. I need to keep the previous versions of Office installed as they are used for development
work. When I try installing Office 2010 I've stopped with the following error message: "An Office installation on your computer is corrupted and setup cannot continue. Remove or repair the Office 2003 product and re-run setup." I can't remove and
repair doesn't seem to do anything. Most posts suggest removing previous office versions or deleting/altering the MS Office registry keys (which would damage the previous versions of Office). Is there a solution to install Office 2010 independently of any
    other version of Office installed?

I figured out a method to finally install Office 2010 bypassing the error stated in the title, by manually removing all the keys that included the term "Office 2003" from the Windows registry.
I share my fix with more details and pictures step by step here :
    Link
Please note that you need to be very careful when manually editing the Windows registry as it may cause problems to your operating system and even cause a massive failure requiring you to re-format your disk.
Feel free to use my fix at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for any damage caused or data loss.

  • Who Else Bought a Toshiba Computer and Found it to be a Piece of Junk

I would love to hear from anyone out there who purchased a Toshiba computer and found it did not work properly the first time it was turned on. I am curious to see if Toshiba's customer service and repair departments gave you the same run around they give me and refused to admit the unit was a lemon.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7222. I love it. To say yours did not work properly the first time it was turned on is pretty lame. Really doesn't give us much to comment on. I will comment however. Some people need to keep the box that their computer came it so they can ship it back because thet really don't need a computer. If you would like some help, there are some well qualified people here on the forum that would like to help you. If you just want to complain, there's not much we can do for you here

  • OpsMgr EventId 26007 on Domain Controllers "The EventLog service reported that the Security event log on computer ' ' is corrupt."

    Hi,
We are receiving several eventids '26007' from the OpsMgr log on our Domain Controllers, also eventids '26008' with similar description are logged
The EventLog service reported that the Security event log on computer '<Domain Controller Computer>' is corrupt. The Windows Event Log Provider will attempt to recover by re-opening log.
I'll appreciate any suggestion in order to solve this issue.
    Regards.

I guess this issue is caused by event ID 4661 is corrupted in security event log.
Please check if you have many 4661 events in security event log and XML view cannot be viewed.
Running the below command on DC will disable the auditing of the SAM Object access. This should stop the Event ID 4661 from being logged which should stop the Alert regarding corrupt Event log:
    auditpol /set /subcategory:"SAM" /success:disable /failure:disable

  • My 1TB Toshiba External Hardrive no longer works on my MacBook Air

I got a 1TB Toshiba External Hardrive and had no problems with it and added some pictures and everything to it however no it no longer works, or even shows up in the devices when i plug it in. I Saw that some others had the same problem and can't even find where they suggested to go to try and change it to read and right.

Not that I can tell. Suspiciously, we did run a salvo of updates from Software Update and the problems started immediately after, but none of those appeared to be directly related to Airport functionality (firmware or otherwise). Just to be sure, I took the "safe" steps of repairing permissions, re-downloading the last combo update & re-applying it. I also searched for any firmware updates related to Airport. What's odd to me is that the firmware reported on her machine is different than that on mine. They're both Late 2006 Macbook models, so that strikes me as odd (but maybe it isn't). I wasn't able to find any updates that her Macbook was lacking, however.
My (working) firmware is: [type] AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x87), [version] 1.4.8.0
Her (not-working) firmware is: [type] AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x87), [version] 1.4.4
Based on the card type, it doesn't appear that they're different chipsets, so I'm not at all clear on why the firmware versions differ. Was there a firmware update for Leopard that wasn't available/needed for Tiger?
Also, I know for sure that there were no firmware updates performed during the last set of updates ... that's a more involved process, if I recall, not handled through the standard updater, I think.
    Thanks for the response!

I am trying to download Itunes to my new Toshiba computer and it keeps saying Apple Application Support suspended and won't let me "undo" so I say no and it doesn't install....any options or a?

I suspect that you are saying that you can't download/install the latest version of iTunes.
All I can say is try removing and reinstalling the Apple software using the following:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
If you have further problems with installing Itunes I suggest you post in the iTunes forum since you have an iTunes problem, not an iPod problem.  Also report the wording of any error messages. What they say is importent on resolving them.

  • Posting adding playlists on my nano to new computer hardrive -- old one cra

I spent a lot of time developing playlists I enjoyed and saved them on my Nano. My computer hardrive crashed. I was able to get my tunes from another authorized computer, but I don't know how to get playlists from Nano to new hardrive. When I open my Ipod on device list (when docked) Ipod playlists show up as musical note icons, not as playlist icons.

I think some of the 3rd party programs discussed in these threads will bring back in playlists, counts, and other information lost from the iTunes database. But I don't have any first hand knowledge since I have never had to resort to this sort of thing (I do full backups on external hard drives). Good luck!

  • My computer became corrupted, and I reinstalled windows, only to find my iphone will no longer sync with the same computer. How do I sync my phone and tones to the same computer without losing everything?

This is my first time using this forum, and I apologize if my post isn't "normal" or if my question is too long. My old acer computer had become corrupted and I had to reinstall my copy of windows. When I tried to sync a new ringtone to my iphone, which was only ever synced to this same computer, I was prompted to delete everything I had so I could install one ringtone. That does not sound ideal, and I refuse to delete everything I've put on my phone and my data to sync to itunes. There has to be another way to show my phone that this is the same computer. So I do not have to go through the hassle of doing everything again. I could not find an answer in the forums, and hope you can help me. This is pretty close to being a deal breaker for me. I'm beyond frustrated with this policy.
I don't believe it matters, but I'm running the latest version of itunes, as of today, and I have an iPhone 4 CDMA iOS 7.4.

Thanks, Lawrence. I figured that was what I was going to have to do in the end. I have a few games with quite a few hours invested, and I worry that I'll lose the progress I have as they do not save to the cloud. I may have to bite the bullet, and just take the plunge to resolve this. I just want a way to easily transfer my "Home Computer" for my iPhone. My laptop is years old and in need of being replaced, and it's about time to upgrade my phone. These life events piling up are making me consider switching to a friendlier OS. I'm not using this as a threat. I just hope some apple high up will read this, and realize that we need alternatives. Life happens.
Thank you both Paul and Lawrence. I clicked "This helped me" not knowing it would remove the option to choose "This fixed my problem" too. For anyone else reading this thread. Using the guide provided has done both. It has helped me and given me a fix to my current problem. Lawrence has also provided me with the last bit of information I feel is missing from wjosten's guide. That syncing will completely erase all of your data and reinstall it in one fell swoop. It's a great fix. Even if it isn't the exact one I wanted. Thank you again!

  • Corrupt files on computer or corrupt ipod?

My first ipod 30 gb would not work because of corrupt files after 1 week. I could not fix it. My second ipod never worked. I uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. Always the corrupt ipod message. I returned it after viewing all the messages on this board. Could it be my computer is the problem, not the ipod? I would really like to use an ipod but have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?
    Dell Dimension 8200   Windows XP

    Always the corrupt ipod message.
what was the precise text of the message? (there's a few different possible ones i can think of.)

  • Satellite L - VAP on Toshiba website is corrupted

Toshiba laid out on the site archive *vap-20091027105222.zip*, which contains the *corrupted* file!
    HERE is the link.
It is packed with file *TC20043100A.exe* (if there is an error decompressing checksum CRC). Windows 7 also can not run TC20043100A.exe so I can not install *Value Added Package*
Lay, please file a *corrected* !

    Thank you for your answer!
yes! *I'm sure!* Please read carefully!
I checked for similar files for *other* models of laptops - with them all in order!
