Touchpad of my Satellite C50-A-19T stopped working

I wasn't sure which category this would go in.. sorry.
I have a Toshiba satellite laptop and the mouse has stopped working.
_It has nothing to do with the function (f5) button that turns the mouse off._
It stopped working yesterday.
I can use the keyboard.
My dad noticed that by holding in either the left or right button it will move but it won't on it's own. however when you try to move it up and down it starts to scroll which it could not do before.
Any idea on how to get it working?

> I have a Toshiba satellite laptop
Which one?
> It has nothing to do with the function (f5) button that turns the mouse off.
So you have already tested if the touchpad isnt disabled?
How about the external USB mouse? Does it work properly?
Did you test the touchpad without connected USB mouse?
> My dad noticed that by holding in either the left or right button it will move but it won't on it's own. however when you try to move it up and down it starts to scroll which it could not do before.
This sounds like an additional touchpad feature (like gesture control etc)

  • Satellite C50-A-19T - recovery disks not working

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-19T laptop with OS windows 8.1
Recently my laptop had booting problems so i contacted toshiba support and they told me to get recovery disk from backupmedia.toshiba.eu and i ordered the disk and it arrived today#
When i enter the recovery disk and boot from the disk drive (ODD) it brings the windows logo then after a minute it goes to a blank screen and i waited and after a while it was still a blank screen
I had already went into the BIOS to change the settings to boot from the CD but even after that the same problem persists
    Please help

    Hi
Go to BIOS and disable the option called: secure boot
Now you should be able to boot from the ODD.
By the way: please check if the HDD is listed on the first BIOS page (name, size, etc)
In case the HDD details are not visible, the HDD isnt recognized by BIOS this could be related to HDD malfunction.

  • External subwoofer doesnt work when I connect it to Satellite C50-A-19T

    Hi,
I bought a laptop Satellite C50-A-19T a ew weeks ago and when I connect my speakers Creative Inspire 2.1 doesn't work the subwoofer. It works even with my cellphone. What can I do to solve this problem?
    Thanks and Merry Xmas!

In my opinion this isnt notebook (Toshiba) related problem and therefore you should check the speaker manufacturer support page for more information how to use and connect such speakers.
I recommend you to check the [ Creative Knowledgebase Solutions|http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=4&subCatID=464&prodID=46 1&prodName=Inspire%202.1%202500&subCatName=Inspire &CatName=Speakers&VARSET=prodfaq:PRODFAQ_461,VARSE T=CategoryID:4] portal to get some details how to use such speakers in connection with different devices.
But from my point of view its an Windows 8.1 driver issue.
To use such sound blaster, the Windows 8.1 driver is required as mentioned on this creative support page.

  • Satellite C50-A-19T - display very faint

Hi I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-19T running windows 8 and lately the display is almost non-existent.
When I start the machine up, I can just about see the Toshiba Logo and that's about it - even it's hard to see.
    What I have tried:
    1) External Monitor - External display works fine (connected via VGA).
    2) I've tried the Fn/F4 button to chang which display, tried a few settings and still nothing on Laptop Screen
    3) I've obviously checked the brightness, it's almost max.
    4) I've removed battery and power, left laptop off for a while, then tried powering back up with battery still out - nothing different.
    5) I've googled like mad and tried removing battery & power, holding power button down for 60+ seconds, done this 5-10 times in all, still nothing when I power it back on
    6) I've replaced the screen with one from another similar toshiba that I know is working - it acts exactly the same.
Is there anything else I'm missing here?
The laptop is working like a dream when plugged into an external monitor.....and I've removed and reloaded all display drivers, reset CMOS, etc.
I'm baffled now and this is for one of the kids for homeworks, so my ears are getting sore !!
    HELP PLS !!

    > 1) External Monitor - External display works fine (connected via VGA)
This is most important info which you have provided in your message.
In case the external monitor is OK, the GPU/motherboard should be also OK.
From my point of few the display panel (backlight) is faulty.
The display backlight does not seem to work properly.
You said that you have replaced the display well, is it compatible display panel?

  • Satellite C50-A-19T - 'poor' health battery

I have only had my Satellite C50-A-19T for 4 months and today I received a notification saying that my battery is now of 'poor' health. Is there any way of fixing this problem and what may have I done to cause this?
I am still under a 1 year free warranty that came with the laptop.

    Hi
Generally speaking the battery is part of the notebook and covered by notebooks standard warranty.
In case the battery is faulty, you could contact the Toshiba authorized service provider in order to fix/replace the faulty part. This should be done free of charge if its warranty covered case.
But before you will contact the ASP in your country, try to calibrate the battery.
To calibrate the battery, you should charge and discharge the battery until its fully empty. This procedure should be repeated two, three times in the row.
If it helps, fine, if not -> get in contact with service agents.
    Greetings mate.

  • Satellite A60 - sound has stopped working

Satellite A60 - sound has stopped working. Downloaded new sound driver from toshiba web site - clicked on sound update icon and it worked, but disappeared every time I restarted.
Clicked on installshield icon, and install starts, but then has an error message saying 0x80040303, unknown error, setup terminates - this happens every time.
Tried to download other updates, but it says I didn't register my laptop, which I'm sure I did, and won't let me do it again because it's more than 6 months old.
    Help!!

    Hello
Try to roll back the operating system to an earlier time when everything works fine. On this way it is not easy to say why this happen. Try also to remove sound card from device manager and restart the unit.
All drivers for your unit you can find on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

  • Satellite A105 Shift Keys stop working after BIOS update

I have a stack of laptop boards from the A105 series (Intel chipset) that I received with bad BIOS's. Two worked, and I updated the BIOS's on them to fix CPU compatibility issues. After that, the shift keys stopped working, and pressing Shift-A causes the power light to dim. Reverting to ANY previous version BIOS, whether through the Windows program, CD, or Crisis Recovery floppy (magic key is "F", not "B", "Esc", or "U"), does not fix the keyboard problem.
To make things more confusing, I did notice that the one single BIOS that seems to actually correct the problem is version 1.50, which I haven't seen available for any Tecra A7 or Satellite A100/A105, except a couple A100's, but the BIOS file is much too small and can't be loaded.
Does anyone have any idea why these Intel-based boards are doing this? Or does anyone know where I can get a usable version 1.50 BIOS?
For the sake of this post, please consider my skill level to be high. (In other words, I would be thankful for people trying to help with "Replace the keyboard", but I have about a dozen keyboards, all of which I have tried, and all of which work on other laptops. Additionally, if you have just a theoretical solution, I'm definitely open to hearing it. Also, if a Toshiba tech would like to reply, I would very much appreciate it!)

Hi, thank you for your help.
Some motherboards were not in chassis when I got them. Is there a place the PSAAxx model number would be written on the boards?
Four PSAA8U (Two A105-S4334 and Two A105-S4014) - Intel Chipset, fingerprint reader. Tried BIOS Versions 1.40, 1.70, 2.00, 5.10, 5.60, 5.90, and 6.00. Shift keys do not work on either one.
    Two PSAA2U (A105-S2091 and A105-S2031) - ATi Chipset. BIOS versions 1.50, 1.80, and 2.30. Keyboard works.
Another PSAA8U (A105-S4184) - Intel Chipset, no fingerprint reader. BIOS version 6.00. Keyboard works.
I noticed that so far all of the models with fingerprint readers have the problem. All of the ATi Chipset boards are working fine, but they have significant processor limits. I am in the middle of updating the BIOS in another Intel one using a Crisis Rescue Disc, so after that finishes I will try disconnecting the fingerprint reader to see if it has an effect.
I don't think the keyboard controller is faulty, because these boards all failed on the same day. I have tried updating the BIOS using WinPhlash, Phlash16 in DOS, the install CD, and a Crisis Recovery Disk. I set the defaults in the BIOS almost every time, and I also have tried holding the power button for 60 seconds with the power cord unplugged and the battery removed (as some people have suggested.)
The shift keys don't work in DOS, Linux, Windows, or even in the BIOS. I test it in the BIOS by using Tab to cycle through the fields in time of day, then Shift-Tab to cycle backwards. This works with a USB keyboard, and it also works on the ATi chipset models and the Intel chipset models that are still working.
Thank you for your reply. (-:

  • Satellite A - LAN card stopped working

I purchased my A series in April 08 and a few weeks ago the LAN card stopped working. It just won't connect and can't get emails and doesn't connect to any web pages.
Currently have the computer working off wireless but does anyone know how to fix the LAN Card problem.

    Hi!
Which Satellite notebook do you have exactly?
Does the notebook recognize a LAN cable if you plug in it? Is the LAN connection enabled in Windows?
Try to update the LAN driver and the BIOS. Both you can find on the Toshiba website:

  • Toshiba Satellite C50 Startup Repair not working

Right, first off I am not very technologically savvy so apologies if I sound like I've no idea what I'm talking about because, really I don't.
My Toshiba Satellite C50 froze last night and I had no other option but to hold the power button down to turn it off. When it switched back on again it froze at the start screen as Windows was opening.  Alas, I had no other option but to press the power button down again, this time taking me to the Startup repair screen.  Now I've ran this about 10 times and it keeps running forever, not solving any repair issues at all.  Every time I try to start Windows normally it freezes at the same Windows is loading screen.
Also I cannot find the recovery disk that came with the laptop and have tried F8 but every option seems to take me to the Startup repair screen again which isn't solving anything.
    Please help!

There won't be a physical disc, no manufacturer's provide those nowadays. You can access the hard drive's recovery partition, which provides similar functionality, by holding the zero key while booting up, form there you can restore to the out of the box state. That will wipe all data on the drive, but if the hardware is still functional that should resolve the issue.

I have a Satellite A130/135 laptop that completely stopped working. During use it turned off and became completely unresponsive. Even the lights that show that the laptop is charging/plugged in wont light.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
Im clueless about what i can do about this so all help is appreciated.

    Hi
I think its really not easy to say what the problem could be
    I can only suggest
According to your message nothing appears on the screen not even if you would try to boot from the recovery disk or other bootable disks. Is it right?
    You could try one procedure;
    - Remove the battery and disconnect the AC adaptor from the notebook
    - Wait several minutes (~30min)
    - try to boot up the machine
Check it out but if you will be not successful then an hardware malfunction might be the reason for your issue and you should ask the local ASP for the help!

  • Satellite C650 sound has stopped working

I've had my laptop for about 6months and have had no problems with the sound until now.
I have recently done a windows update and a few hours after my sound has stopped working completely.
I have updated the driver (Conexant Cx20671 smart audio hd) after that failed i un-installed and reinstalled the driver off the toshiba downloads, after restarting again no sound.
When i have media player on, the sound mixer recognizes there is something playing but there is no sound coming out the speakers
    _*please can someone help!!!*_

Ok, this means that the sound driver is OK.
Please go to the control panel -> sound -> Playback tab
Here you have to check if the speakers are set as default device.
Furthermore mark the speakers and click on settings button.
There you can also check the volume level.

  • Re: Satellite C660 - Sound has stopped working

I've done some online research, and it seems that its not an uncommon problem for the sound card to stop working. I've tried a couple of things, and just uninstalled the old driver and installed the new one. Still nothing.
Any tips please? I'm not a techie, and just want to hear things again!

    > Under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" there is only one item, "Realtek High Definition Audio"
This means that the Realtek HD sound driver is installed properly.
    > How do I restore factory settings?
I guess you have created a Recovery Disk in the past. Did you? Such recovery disk would reinstall the system including the driver and Toshiba tools and would set the notebook back to factory settings.
You can also try the HDD recovery (press F8 -> Repair my Computer > Toshiba recovery)
This procedure would not touch the D partition but would format only C system partition.
    > Isn't that a bit radical, and won't it re-set ALL my personalisations?
Yes, indeed, its radical because it would set the notebook back to factory settings but in case its software problem, the recovery should help you to resolve this issue.
    Otherwise its hardware problem.

  • Satellite L650 - Speakers suddenly stop working

Suddenly my laptop speakers stop working. Volume was 60 % not too loud.
All drivers are ok and updated and laptop purchased 1 month ago new

    Hi buddy,
Can you notice the same behaviour if you connect external speakers or headphones? Maybe its just a wrong sound setting and with external devices you can test this.
Have also a look on Windows sound settings. You can change the balance between right and left speaker.
If its really a hardware malfunction you can contact an authorized service provider. The guys will repair your notebook under warranty (free).
