Satellite C50-A-19T - 'poor' health battery

I have only had my Satellite C50-A-19T for 4 months and today I received a notification saying that my battery is now of 'poor' health. Is there any way of fixing this problem and what may have I done to cause this?
I am still under a 1 year free warranty that came with the laptop.

Hi
Generally speaking the battery is part of the notebook and covered by notebooks standard warranty.
In case the battery is faulty, you could contact the Toshiba authorized service provider in order to fix/replace the faulty part. This should be done free of charge if its warranty covered case.
But before you will contact the ASP in your country, try to calibrate the battery.
To calibrate the battery, you should charge and discharge the battery until its fully empty. This procedure should be repeated two, three times in the row.
If it helps, fine, if not -> get in contact with service agents.
Greetings mate.

  • Satellite C50-A-19T - display very faint

Hi I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-19T running windows 8 and lately the display is almost non-existent.
When I start the machine up, I can just about see the Toshiba Logo and that's about it - even it's hard to see.
    What I have tried:
    1) External Monitor - External display works fine (connected via VGA).
    2) I've tried the Fn/F4 button to chang which display, tried a few settings and still nothing on Laptop Screen
    3) I've obviously checked the brightness, it's almost max.
    4) I've removed battery and power, left laptop off for a while, then tried powering back up with battery still out - nothing different.
    5) I've googled like mad and tried removing battery & power, holding power button down for 60+ seconds, done this 5-10 times in all, still nothing when I power it back on
    6) I've replaced the screen with one from another similar toshiba that I know is working - it acts exactly the same.
Is there anything else I'm missing here?
The laptop is working like a dream when plugged into an external monitor.....and I've removed and reloaded all display drivers, reset CMOS, etc.
I'm baffled now and this is for one of the kids for homeworks, so my ears are getting sore !!
    HELP PLS !!

    > 1) External Monitor - External display works fine (connected via VGA)
This is most important info which you have provided in your message.
In case the external monitor is OK, the GPU/motherboard should be also OK.
From my point of few the display panel (backlight) is faulty.
The display backlight does not seem to work properly.
You said that you have replaced the display well, is it compatible display panel?

  • Satellite C50-A-19T - recovery disks not working

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-19T laptop with OS windows 8.1
Recently my laptop had booting problems so i contacted toshiba support and they told me to get recovery disk from backupmedia.toshiba.eu and i ordered the disk and it arrived today#
When i enter the recovery disk and boot from the disk drive (ODD) it brings the windows logo then after a minute it goes to a blank screen and i waited and after a while it was still a blank screen
I had already went into the BIOS to change the settings to boot from the CD but even after that the same problem persists
    Please help

    Hi
Go to BIOS and disable the option called: secure boot
Now you should be able to boot from the ODD.
By the way: please check if the HDD is listed on the first BIOS page (name, size, etc)
In case the HDD details are not visible, the HDD isnt recognized by BIOS this could be related to HDD malfunction.

  • External subwoofer doesnt work when I connect it to Satellite C50-A-19T

    Hi,
I bought a laptop Satellite C50-A-19T a ew weeks ago and when I connect my speakers Creative Inspire 2.1 doesn't work the subwoofer. It works even with my cellphone. What can I do to solve this problem?
    Thanks and Merry Xmas!

In my opinion this isnt notebook (Toshiba) related problem and therefore you should check the speaker manufacturer support page for more information how to use and connect such speakers.
I recommend you to check the [ Creative Knowledgebase Solutions|http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=4&subCatID=464&prodID=46 1&prodName=Inspire%202.1%202500&subCatName=Inspire &CatName=Speakers&VARSET=prodfaq:PRODFAQ_461,VARSE T=CategoryID:4] portal to get some details how to use such speakers in connection with different devices.
But from my point of view its an Windows 8.1 driver issue.
To use such sound blaster, the Windows 8.1 driver is required as mentioned on this creative support page.

So next time you should visit the speaker manufacturer website to get the solution

  • Touchpad of my Satellite C50-A-19T stopped working

I wasn't sure which category this would go in.. sorry.
I have a Toshiba satellite laptop and the mouse has stopped working.
_It has nothing to do with the function (f5) button that turns the mouse off._
    It stopped working yesterday.
    I can use the keyboard.
My dad noticed that by holding in either the left or right button it will move but it won't on it's own. however when you try to move it up and down it starts to scroll which it could not do before.
Any idea on how to get it working?

    > I have a Toshiba satellite laptop
    Which one?
    > It has nothing to do with the function (f5) button that turns the mouse off.
So you have already tested if the touchpad isnt disabled?
How about the external USB mouse? Does it work properly?
Did you test the touchpad without connected USB mouse?
    > My dad noticed that by holding in either the left or right button it will move but it won't on it's own. however when you try to move it up and down it starts to scroll which it could not do before.
This sounds like an additional touchpad feature (like gesture control etc)

  • Satellite C50-A-19T has been dropped - does warranty covers this fault?

    Hi fellas,
    I need your advice.
I bought my laptop past month and today my girlfriend dropped acetone on it. Fortunatelly it's still working but the cover and some keys are damaged and being so new It's painfull to see it in this way.
Somebody knows if the warrant can cover this damaged or I should contract the insurance?
If any of these possibilties are good, could I pay to the support to replace it cause I tried to find online de supplies but I couldn't find it.
Sorry cos english is not my native language.
    Thanks for your help

    >Somebody knows if the warrant can cover this damaged or I should contract the insurance?
No, warranty does not cover any damages causing by your own fault.
So if possible you will need to contact your insurance

  • Satellite C50-A - Logitech speaker system - quiet subwoofer

    Hi
I have a brand new Toshiba Satellite C50 A -19T. I have a Logitech speaker system that produces a pleasing sound. When I plug it into the new laptop, the subwoofer only produces a very quiet sound, leaving a tinny sound overall. The speakers work perfectly with an alternative laptop.
Is there anything I can do to alter the sound levels or is the soundcard at fault?
    Thanks

If you connected the external speakers to the notebook, you should also check the volume settings and level. Usually you can do this in control panel -> sound -> playback.
As far as I know you can also find additional sound application called DTS Sound & DTS Studio Sound which is preinstalled on the notebook
DTS Studio Sound is a premium audio enhancement suite that utilizes revolutionary audio technology to provide the most impressive and realistic listening experience ever offered for a two speakers playback environment.
To access this utility click on:
Desktop -> Desktop Assist (in task bar) -> Media & Entertainment -> DTS Studio Sound
You can also find the DTS sound (it delivers immersive surround sound complete with deep, rich bass and crystal clear dialog). Click on
Desktop -> Desktop Assist (in task bar) -> Media & Entertainment -> DTS sound
    Check it too.

  • Satellite C50-A-1G7 - battery has stopped charging

My C50 has a battery issue. A few weeks old, it stopped charging. First it started charging (as seen on the windows power icon) slowly until 61% then zipped to 100%. But since then, the computer won't work on battery. The charging light does not come on(, but did so before). For all intends and purposes, it looks as there is no battery present, except that the software (windows and toshiba help stuff) insists there is a fully charged battery present.
Now, it probably is a faulty battery or connector, but to avoid going to the shop needlessly, I would like to verify if there is a bios update available. Since it is a relatively new, maybe not but the toshiba site is not the most clear. Anyway I couldn't find any bios update on the pages for Satellite C50-A-1G7.
Currently my bios is 1.20 with EC version 1.00
    tnx

To be honest I don't think BIOS update can be solution for this. Anyway, you can check which BIOS version is offered on BIOS download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_bios.jsp
Im afraid you must contact nearest Toshiba service. They have special tools and can check hardware functionality.

  • New Satellite C50-A264 Laptop way too slow.

I got this Satellite C50-A254 few weeks ago,i didnt touch it alot.
I only used this laptop 2-3 times but its just terribly slow.
Even if i launched Google Chrome,it constantly stopps responding and i have no idea why because it was too slow from the first place when i booted this laptop which doesnt make sence at all.
I cant run literary anything good. Even opening control panel takes about 5 seconds.
    The specs are:
    OS: Windows 8
    HDD: 500GB
    RAM: 2GB
    CPU: Pentunum
I've only installed uTorrent and Steam, but i dont know why that causes this laptop to be terriblely slow.
I didnt tried to uninstall anything since it was slow from the first time.
I'm sure this was not a re-used PC.

I have the exact same stituation with the Toshiba C50D
Bought it from the South African disributor
Out of the box it was so slow as to be unuseable even for basic email
within 2 days I took it back
They would not accept it back as it has been used (tried once and not again.)
I am now stuck with the WORST EVER COMPUTER, WHICH HAS TOTALLY PUT ME OFF ALL TOSHIBA PRODUCTS.
The computer has lived in the cupboard  in it's box for the past 6 months and not been used.
I have since purchased a DELL in the same price range for my wife.
I have since purchased a much more expensive Acer as a work machine.
    ===============
Out of curiosity in the last day - I intalled a 256 Gig Solid state drive and increased the memory to 8Gig.  Updated to Windows 8.1
ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGE IN THE POOR PERFORMANCE.
SHAME ON YOU TOSHIBA FOR SELLING SUCH COMPLETE RUBBISH AND RIPPING THE PUBLIC OFF.

  • My Satellite C50-A-1DV won't work without mains

    Hello
    I have a new Satellite C50 A 1 DV.
It does not operate unless plugged into the mains.
Does anyone know if that is correct?
    It seems odd.
Also the far left light at the front (AC IN) never lights up.
    Is that OK?
I'd be grateful if anyone could put my mind at rest!
    Thanks
    Jo

    > It does not operate unless plugged into the mains.
    >Does anyone know if that is correct?
No, this isnt correct. If the main battery is fully charged, the notebook should run also without the connected AC adaptor.
In case the battery would not charge properly, get in contact with Toshiba authorized service provider in order to check the battery and if necessary to replace it with another, new one.

  • Special Functions keys not working on Satellite C50 - Windows 8.1

    Hello,
Please could someone help me out.
I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A0393 that I got a few months ago with Windows 8.1 already installed (64 bit). Today I got a message saying I needed to look at the PC Health, a Toshiba blue message concerning the access agreement, and I noticed that there were three upgrades that needed to be done, the only one I can remember being the Toshiba Video Player. I think that another one had to do with the charger light?
    I don't know.
But once I restarted my laptop after the updates I noticed that the special function keys were not working (i.e. the volume, mute, pause and play, etc.). i then went onto the Toshiba Desktop Assist and into system settings and selected the keyboard tab. I then made sure the setting for special function mode was selected.
Now, when that setting is in place, certain keys work but for F3, F5, F6, etc and when I want to use the special functions only the volume up and down work when pressing 'Fn', but special function mode is still selected? Only those two work, not the mute or flightmode or bluetooth, which was working normally before the upgrades.
I have googled but cannot find anything specific to 8.1, or not relating to upgrading to 8.1. I cannot find the flashcard utility and do not want to try something where I do not know what I am doing. How can I get these special function keys working again normally? Sorry for the long message but I wanted to give as much info as possible.
    Many thanks,
    Melanie

    Hi
It sounds strange to me that a Toshiba update (Toshiba Video Player, etc) would affect the function key functionality.
Nevertheless the function key (F1-F10) can be used in combination with or without the FN button. This depends on the special function key mode.
In case you want to use the F1-F12 functions without the pressing FN button, the function key mode should be enabled (should be set to special function mode)
Here the full details how it works:
    https://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD2503B90001R01.htm
Now it these buttons would not work even if the FN button has been pressed, then there is some problem with the software.
First of all I would recommend you to set the BIOS to default because this function key mode can be changed in BIOS too.
After that, check if the key would work. If not, reinstall the
    Toshiba Function Key Utility
    And Toshiba System Driver
You can also check if the essential service has not been disabled.
Start the Task Manager and go to start up items. There you should enable all Toshiba apps and services and then restart.

  • Satellite C50-A-157 - Unable to use touchpad without holding left button

I know very little about my Satellite C50-A-157 . Run on Windows 8. I am main /admin user and all of a sudden I am unable to move the mouse/cursor.. only way it seems to let me, is if I hold the left hand botton (bottom of mouse pad) down at same time, then it moves around.
    But then high-lights everything.
I have tried pressing FN+F5 at same time (nothing happens) even taken battery out of back (again does not solve issue) the MOuse/arrow is just frozen on the page.. this does not happen in my partners profile, (he is another user) the mouse seems to work fine..
I thought it was that the mouse pad, had worn out (as is shiny now) but this does not explain why it only happens under my profile/user, not his?
If anyone can offer any help, much appreciated... I only stumbled across the fact, it lets me use it (if I hold in left button at same time)
Also have tried the 'Sticky keys' shift x5, again this does not do anything or clear this problem.
And have gone into control panel usinw Windows+ X and gone into troubleshooting, again, not solved the problem.

.. this does not happen in my partners profile, (he is another user) the mouse seems to work fine..
Since the touchpad is still working using another user profile, I guess there must be only some software conflict.
Usually you can enable or disable the touchpad pressing F5 (or FN+F5) but you already tried this combination and this did not enable the touchpad…
So from my point of few you should simple uninstall the touchpad driver and after you have downloaded the newest touchpad driver package from Toshiba EU driver page, unzip the package and perform new touchpad driver installation…
After the installation has been finished, restart the notebook…
    Good luck

    Hello;      Just took a brand new Satellite C50-A -02T (PSCF6C-02T002) out of the box and the trackpad does not work.  Windows 8 OS.  Hooked up an external mouse and; Updated the trackpad drivers from the Toshiba site, no luck.Updated windows, no luck.Updated to windows 8.1, no luck.Googled the issue and tried the 'pull battery, press power button, replace battery, press f2...' but it just boots back to windows, does not go into the bios...I bought 2 of these on clearance after christmas and have been using one with no issue since then.  My parents need a new laptop so I pulled this one out and was going to set it up for them but cannot get the bloody track pad to work. Any help out there? Thanks;

Just to add a couple things: CANNOT get into the BIOS after pulling the battery and holding the power button.  It ignores my attempt (have tried 6 times) and can get into the bios any other time I try. When I go into the control panel and click on mouse it tells me 'Unable to connect to the synaptics Pointing Device Driver'  I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice now with no success. It does not show up in the device driver list.About to take the nuclear option and reinstall windows...
