Trace dumping is performing ID= .....
We have been troubleshooting a RAC environment that has been performing core dumps. These have all occured after installing new RAM. We have been getting the core dumps on both nodes (2 node environment). Right now we are working on node1 by removing half of the RAM, all is fine, add two more sticks...etc. At times the cdump will result in Oracle being shutdown but usually Oracle stays up and the server stays up. This morning I do a srvctl status database -d <name> and it says both nodes are up and running. Just to double-check I take a look at the alert log for node 1 and see this:
Trace dumping is performing ID = cdmp<sysdate>
There are no other entries since we brought the instance up on that node, just that statement that Trace dumping is performing. It looks like we hit the bad stick of RAM but the cdmp<sysdate> folder has a number of files in it. Any tips on what I can look for to help narrow this problem down?

A lof of "Trace dumping is performing" in RAC instances
Hi,
I have Oracle 9i RAC (9.2.0.5) with 2 nodes. Suddenly, there is a lot of "Trace dumping is performing" generated in background dump directory of both nodes.
I could not find any ORA- error that caused these trace dump. Does anyone have any idea?

I'm not very experinced with oracle 10g, but on 9i I've never seen this before:

to me it looks only informational, but i was wondering if anyone been experiencing similar behavior before, and if there are a way to avoid this? or is this an error i should take action on.
any ideas would be very much appricated!This is a known bug # 4596065 with RMAN when controlfile autobackup is on and flash recovery area is enabled. Workaround is to ignore the trce files.

Can any one tell me the Diff b/w Run time Analyizer(se30),Sql Trace (st05) and Performance Analyzie(al21) ?
Hi
these all are doing t he same thing that is checking the program for better performance
Tools for Performance Analysis
Run time analysis transaction SE30
SQL Trace transaction ST05
Extended Program Check (SLIN)
Code Inspector ( SCI)
Run time analysis transaction SE30 :This transaction gives all the analysis of an ABAP program with respect to the database and the non-database processing.
SQL Trace transaction ST05: The trace list has many lines that are not related to the SELECT statement in the ABAP program. This is because the execution of any ABAP program requires additional administrative SQL calls. To restrict the list output, use the filter introducing the trace list.
The trace list contains different SQL statements simultaneously related to the one SELECT statement in the ABAP program. This is because the R/3 Database Interface - a sophisticated component of the R/3 Application Server - maps every Open SQL statement to one or a series of physical database calls and brings it to execution. This mapping, crucial to R/3s performance, depends on the particular call and database system. For example, the SELECT-ENDSELECT loop on a particular database table of the ABAP program would be mapped to a sequence PREPARE-OPEN-FETCH of physical calls in an Oracle environment.
The WHERE clause in the trace list's SQL statement is different from the WHERE clause in the ABAP statement. This is because in an R/3 system, a client is a self-contained unit with separate master records and its own set of table data (in commercial, organizational, and technical terms). With ABAP, every Open SQL statement automatically executes within the correct client environment. For this reason, a condition with the actual client code is added to every WHERE clause if a client field is a component of the searched table.
To see a statement's execution plan, just position the cursor on the PREPARE statement and choose Explain SQL. A detailed explanation of the execution plan depends on the database system in use.
Extended Program Check
This can be called in through transaction SE38 or through transaction SLIN. This indicates possible problems that may cause performance problems.
Code Inspector (SCI)
You can call the Code Inspector from the ABAP Editor (SE38), the Function Builder (SE37), the Class Builder (SE24), or as a separate transaction (SCI).
The Code Inspector indicates possible problems. However, note that, especially with performance issues: There is no rule without exception. If a program passes an inspection, it does not necessarily mean that this program will have no performance problems.

How to use forms trace file for performance tuning
I am trying to use forms trace file in order to find cause of forms application performance problem.
I have read the document B14032-03 where is described how to turn on tracing and how to convert binary trace file to xml or html format. However these xml/html files are useless because they only contain series of forms events, without possibility for grouping or sorting. Actually, they are like to database raw trace file. I need some tool, like tkprof for database trace, that will process xml/html file and generate some more useful format.
Further, I have tried to load forms trace file into relational database tables in order to use SQL for performance problem investigation. I have followed procedure described in document A92175-01, but without success.
Is there any way to process xml/html file with grouping, orderering or summing event duration or way to load either binary, xml or html trace file into structured data in database.Al-Salamu Alikum user630033
It's not : elegant at all to thank people 4 No help,it's not their problem that u don't search enough, or u don't have access to db.
We should always say thank ,or 'Jazak Allah Khiern' on both cases even they could or couldn't help u.
Finally,i expect ' an appologize or even a thankful word ' and the kindness i am sure u had to publish the solution u found in order to share it with people who had same problem or at least to give them the info to get the appreciation or the thanksful word u deserve.
Rem.Never give a bad feedback to people who tried to help u.

Monitor/trace per transaction performance stats
Is it possible to trace stats like cpu time and num of IOs for each committed transaction and log them one row per transaction? Thanks, Stan
Yes it is possible through statspack which give you all other performance related information. But it is also very resource consuming job. so be carefull while using it.

Tuxedo8 core dumps when performing a tpcall in Solaris
Hi all,
I'm installing a Tuxedo application on a Solaris OS:
SunOS 5.8 Generic_108528-13 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-280R
Tuxedo 8.0 compiled under 32bits libraries.
This application also runs correctly under a RedHat Linux 7.1 (kernel 2.4.9-31)
and on a Digital (OSF1 V4.0 878 alpha)
When running the application on Solaris, we always get a core dump when the service
performs a tpcall. Debugging the Tuxedo server we can see the core dump is produced
when the service gets de response from the tpcall, i.e: when the service called
performs the tpreturn.
Any clues will be appreciated, thanks!
Yol.Oh, thanks very much, what a stupid mistake! sorry :(
We knew about the cast, but after looking for the problem in many ways we didn't
realize FLDLEN was a short!
Thank you all for your quick help!

Scott Orshan <[email protected]> wrote:
FLDLEN nLongitud is a short. Casting its pointer to a long * does not
change the
fact that the return value will overwrite other memory. On Linux, the
alignment or
arrangement of the stack was different, so it didn't core dump. You need
to pass
the address of a real long for the return length.

Yes, that's what we thought at first sight, nevertheless remember itruns ok in
other OS.
Anyway here I give you 2 samples of code we've tried.
Any of this cases fail creating a core dump.
Case 1:
Src1 calls Src2:
Src1:
void SRC1(TPSVCINFO * BufferFml)
FLDLEN nLongitud;
FBFR *pBuffer;
pBuffer = (FBFR *) BufferFml->data;
if (tpcall("SRC2", (char *) pBuffer, 0, (char **) &pBuffer, (long*) &nLongitud,
0) == -1)
userlog("Error!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!");
tpreturn(TPSUCCESS, 0, (char *) pBuffer, 0L, 0);
Src2
void SRC2(TPSVCINFO * BufferFml)
FLDLEN nLongitud;
FBFR *pBuffer;
pBuffer = (FBFR *) BufferFml->data;
tpreturn(TPSUCCESS, 0, (char *) pBuffer, 0L, 0);
Case 2:
Src1 calls Src2:
Src1:
The same as in case 1
Src2:
void SRC2(TPSVCINFO * BufferFml)
tpreturn(TPSUCCESS, 0, NULL, 0L, 0);
Thanks anyway for your attention ;-)

Yol,
My initial guess is that your code is not keeping track of the tpalloced
buffers correctly - in particular, the one that the reply is received
into.
If you post some code, maybe someone will see the error. Alternatively,
have you got purift or some other bounds checking software that might
help you track the problem?

Peter.

11g Native Web Services Core Dump ( qmuwsPrintPackWSDL() )
I know that native PL/SQL web services are newer functionality, but I have not been able to find any information on the following issue on MetaLink or here on the forums. When creating 11g native web services when attempting to retrieve the WSDL documents from the server the document is only partially served (estimated at about 2/3rds) or not at all (blank document returned).

Dump of memory from 0xFFFFFFFF7FFF0360 to 0xFFFFFFFF7FFF0760 -
Hello all,
I am working on windows 64 bit (local system, testing)
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.6.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options
my database was working just fine, I was copying export dump(exp/imp) from 'A' hard disk(external) to 'B', as it was urgent I gave a table for import(imp) from 'A' hard disk which had the original dump.
import of table stopped with ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
i thought it might be because I gave import when copy was going on, later on when copy was over I gave the same table for import, this time also I got same error.
when I tried to login as user "test" is gives me ORA 01033 error.

To add more I was studying/practicing "Auditing in Oracle", yesterday System table space was getting full hence, exported "IDL_UB1$" and truncated it.
Please let me know if I need to provide any more information, also help me out to solve this issue.Yes I have the backup of truncated table with me(I am practicing "auditing" in my local system hence exported the table and truncated the table as system table space was getting full.)
also i checked the trace file c:\app\administrator\diag\rdbms\prod\prod\incident\incdir_94924\prod_mmon_7848_i94924.trc, but not sure what to check..i mean it gives the same
"ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [hshget1()+199] [ACCESS_VIOLATION] [ADDR:0x18] [PC:0x8C4341F] [UNABLE_TO_READ] []" error at the start
not sure how to read this trace file,i mean how to find error part, kindly let me know on this. -
