Tracking Warranty

Dear all,
I am working for a client in automobile industries. The major concern is on tracking warranties both inbound/outbound for their major 10 components. As i came to know that we can do this by make use of serial no , equipment, material master, notification but i am totally confused on how to do it.
Concept
Through serial management we can assign to all incoming material . But the warranty tracking should be there for an equipment. i am not sure on this so if any one can help me out in the mess.
With Regards
Aswin

1) Define Class ------------------------------------------------------------------ CL01
2) Define Characteristics ----------------------------------------------------- CT04
3) Assign Class to characteristics
4) Assign class to Master Warranty ----------------------------------------- CL20N
5) Create a Service Master record ------------------------------------------- MMS1
6) Create Master Warranty ----------------------------------------------------- BGM1
(Master warranty contains all the parts under warranty management with counters for time & distance.)
7) Create Equipment Master record.----------------------------------------- IE01
in this record assign master warranty no. from BGM1 to equipment.

Rahul,
The reason I asked is because if you use Master Warranties, then the system does not store the end date in any tables and you would need to create a bespoke ABAP program.
Since you populate the start/end dates, then this data is stored in the tables and can be retrieved.
There have been a few posts on this issue (see [here|Table for warranty data of equipment; for one example)

• Lost/stolen iPod - Can you track serial number to current owner/thief?

Recently I have either lost or had my iPod stolen while traveling across country. I had a brand new 30GB - Black iPod that disappeared from Point A to Point B. I took a red-eye, so either could have easily happened given the delays, weather conditions and tight connections experienced on this particular trip.
Is there a way to search for the Serial Number via the internet for recent downloads from iTunes, etc...?
I have replaced my 30GB with an 80GB and Nano, but would love to have it back to give to my wife or son.
Any suggestions on how to recoop or track down?
G5 Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I used to work at an Apple Store and we were asked about this a lot. The other responses are correct, there is no way to track an ipod by Serial Number. The SN isn't recorded when you download items from the itunes store, that goes by your user account.
Now, if the person who has your ipod sets up an itunes user account (and doesn't lie about their information - don't forget you can go to the store and buy an itunes giftcard and it won't require a credit card to make a purchase) and also registers the ipod under their name (and doesn't lie about their information) there MIGHT be a way for Apple to track it down. But, honestly, that involves a lot of work and the assumption that the new user hasn't faked any of their personal information. Do you think they're going to do that for you? Probably not.
Sorry about your loss but all the SN is good for on an ipod is tracking warranty and repair information.

• Material Class 001 - Characteristics not comming at the time of GR

Hello,
I am trying to use material class 001 in material.
I have created Characteristics and assigned to Class (001) and have attached this class to Material.
But when I do Goods Receipt of PO, I do not see any tab with classifications.
I have also tried activating batch (as some say that I have to activate batch to get the characteristics at the time of GR) but this does not help.
Please let me know, how can I get the characteristics to get populated at the time of GR.

Prabjhot,
I have a group of materials "Bicycles". Within this group, there are 5 material numbers, BIKE1, BIKE2, BIKE3, BIKE4, BIKE5. Each one of these is sold as a separate item to the customers.
Now, my customer service group is having a hard time entering orders. They can never remember which one contains which combinations of colors and Derailleurs.
I create a class 001 BICYCLES and assign two characteristics, "COLOR" "DERAILLEUR". Possible color values are "RED", "BLUE", "SILVER". Possible DERAILLEUR values are "10SPEED" and "12SPEED". I then assign the materials to the class, and enter values for each of the 5 material numbers.
Now, when Customer service wants to find out which MATERIAL to enter into their sales orders, they can look up all the MATERIAL numbers that have specific MATERIAL based characteristics: Blue/10 speed; Red/12 speed, etc etc.
Later on, my Quality manager approaches me. For one material BIKE1, which is a Blue/10speed, I have 3 different factories where I build them. The resultant bikes are virtually identical from each factory. However, the manufacturing methods in each factory are different. My Quality manager wants to determine accurately the source of each manufactured bicycle, so that he can track warranty liability and issue recalls if necessary.
I create a BATCH class type 022 and assign 2 characteristics "MAN_PLANT" and "YEAR" I create several batches: "PARIS2010", "ROME2010", "LONDON2010": In the batches I assign the appropriate values: MAN_PLANT "PARIS", in another "ROME", and another "LONDON"; in all three I enter the value for year as "2010", I activate Batch management.
Now when I complete my Production orders, the three plants each receive their production into stock, but now they must enter a batch. The batches they enter upon receipt identify the manufacturing plant and year of manufacture. In my central warehouse, I now have BIKE1 stocked and sold under 3 batches: PARIS, ROME, LONDON. My quality manager is pleased.
I am rewarded with more work.

• Requirement of functional location

Hi friends
Please clarify about the below issue
1. Client is supplying the equipment to customer as a rental , sale.Once the delevrey is over they usually installing the equipment to thier functional location. For this use actually we defined the functional location as customer location(city) name. Now the issue is if the customer is moving to different location is required to create new functional location? If so what we need to do for old functional location?
2. The client usually receiving the serialised material (machine) from supplier and then selling /renting it to customer. However they will not provide the services If they sold the machine to customer. If any repair the client will recive the equipment from customer and sent to supplier (if warrnty) or sent to sub contractor (if non warranty). Both the time they follow the procurement (PO) process. For non warranty repair they raise the billing agianst the customer by sales process. Now tell me is required to create the equipment master ?
Thank you
Thenna

Hello thenna arasu ,
The process is clearly explined in the previous posts . In addition to that
1. For each sales ( Delivery ) create equipment and do the installation at functional location here the Fuctional location is same as your customer premises. so incase you are making Notification you will have all the details and also partner details . If the location is changing and you will know only at time of complaint generaintg you can think of changing the location data through cuszomization before registering the complaint .
2. If youn want to track warranty and need more controll over your services you must create eqipment master .

• Lost 3 iPod classics to "improper removal."

Three 120 GB iPod Classics have failed to respond when I plug them in, with my Mac Pro telling me they had been improperly removed on last usage. I can't repair them with any of the methods suggested and a total restoration attempt on two has failed. I know know how to remove an iPod and after losing the first one take special care not to jostle either the pod of laptop when connected. It's very frustrating to watch 15,000 songs disappear into the ether, even if most have been backed up on another machine. Not to mention expense. The last two failures came after installing Lion, which is a whole other issue. Ideas?

Hi,
Wether its PM /CS modules Please follow as guided below:
1, Maintain Serial No. Profile first to the material and assign the same in u201Cmm02 > sales genrl & plant tab.u201D
2, Miantain proper serial No. ranges and Customer Equipment Group u201CSu201D should be assigned to the serial no.range in u201COEINu201D.
3, In IMG > PM & CS menu configure u201CWarranty setting and also claim Processingu201D
4, Also maintain Warranty start and end dates for the new created equipments in u201CIE08 / IE02u201D
5, also configure Service order types (i.e. PM01/SM01, SM02 etc.) in PM & CS.
6, after configuring all the above use Service processing: useu201D IW51u201D and select notification type i.e.u201Cs1u201D , u201Cs3u201Detc.

• Someone stoled my ipod how can i track it or i still have warranty on it could i get another?

Someone stoled my iPod how can I track it or could I get another I still have warranty

Of course you can get another one. Just purchase one. The warranty does not cover lost/stolen/accidental damage.
- If you previously turned on FindMyiPod and wifi is on and connected to go to iCloud, sign in and go to FindMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will show off-line forever.
- Apple will not help
- Report to police and change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod.

• How do I get Apple to stand behind their warranty and replace my defective computer? The hard drive has been replaced twice, the track pad once, and other hardware issues. Can anyone help me so I can get Apple to replace my defective

My computer has been a lemon. They refuse to properly diagnose, fix, and document my complaints regarding the multiple failures I have had with this computer. Also, I was told that upon my logic board being replaced back in April or May that the topic of replacing the computer altogether with one of equal equipment would be appropriate. Insofar, I have been to the store at least three times in the past month to discuss my issues with the computer that were not resolved when the hard drive was replaced in May. I was also told that the repairs on my system would be good for up to 90 days after the repair work was done and that I could buy AppleCare at the end of the 90 days in lieu of insuring a product that still had defects. I have been on the phone for what feels like hours with Apple trying to work this issue out but they are not wanting to stand behind their product nor are they willing to stand behind their warranty. The warranty expressly states that a computer can be replaced entirely if the defect is considered hardware malfunction and at the representative’s discretion. Every time I brought it in for repair it was due to hardware malfunction; however, they also said once that it was an accessory that I bought that was causing the problem which ended up not being the case after all. This is totally unacceptable. I also asked Mark from AppleCare to let me know what was repaired the second time the computer was put through a diagnostic at the Apple Store. Beachballs, Gears, excessive heat, not being taken seriously at the Apple Store, being insulted by a Mac Genius at the Apple Store, being misinformed by a Mac Genius, dealing with a misinformed Mac Genius. They replaced my iPod touch without much ado. I was also accused by an Apple Genius of being "hyperbolic." He said this in response to my complaint of the computer melting--literally--items on my computer desk. I am either wanting a refund of my money or a replacement of my laptop. Also, I have lost an incredible amount of data on my computer due to the hard drive being replaced x 2. Not acceptable. Also, the Apple store is 1 hour from where I live. I am currently looking for employment and additionally have a legal case pending where I am the plaintiff. I have lost VERY important documents in both matters which has caused an extreme amount of stress. I do not need the added stress of an unreliable and unsafe computer. I also have been waiting for a call back from Kelly (left two voice messages with Kelly) and Mark (wrote an e-mail for which he has not responded to insofar) at Apple but have heard nothing from either one of them regarding the status of my computer. The only thing I received which was automated by the Apple Store was a confirmation that my computer was ready. I have requested documentation of what was done (basically, I am asking for the receipt) before I drive an hour to pick it up. Haven't heard anything. I brought this computer in on July 24, 2011. We are now upon August 2nd. When do I get to know what was even done on my computer? Do they really think that I am going to take back a computer into my possession only to have to bring it back shortly thereafter to address one of the many issues causing it to malfunction in the first place? I have owned 5 computers since 1988. All of them PCs. This is my first Mac. Will it be my last?

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

• Invoice warranty tracking report

Probelm:For confirming warranty of our product, as per Warranty Policy, products are under warranty for 18 Months from Date of dispatch. Each module is traceable using Sr. Number.
THis is a report in PP.
Step1: In EQUI Table in passed sernr(serial number)(this number always belongs to child material number) and getting material number.
step 2)in STPO table, passing IDNRK(material nu of above sernr nu) getting stlnr(bom component) and IDNRK.
Here this material is used in more than one Bom components. here i need to find which BOM component(stlnr) having material matching with sernr(serial number)
hence there is no table with is relationship.
i could not able to find exact component.
actuvally user serial number belongs to module and this module is used to make panel using production order.
sugguest me if there is any possiblity of going to z table.

• How much would it be to replace iPhone 4 with phone warranty?

Ok I just drop my phone trying to run to catch the bus. I had a case but it didn't work....I don't have the apple warranty I have the 1 year warranty I got from sprint...
How much do you think the copay would be? My mom says she doesnt want tofux the phone herself because it voids the warranty and she said something about sensors in the phone and apple can track whether I opened my phone.

Hey !
Sorry for ur broken iphone. The best thing is to go to apple store and talk to them.Tell them this is the very first time it had happened to you. they will replace the phone for free as a one time courtesy. They did mines and my friend phone for free. as far as sprint warranty, i am not really sure what warranty covers. usually they charge you around $200 to replace the iphone but thats for insurance not the warranty. Your mom is right about the sensors. It is kind of hard to replace iphone 4 screen because the digitizer and lcd are attached to each other with glue i guess. I tried replacing one for my friend and ended up messing the iphone. Your best bet is to try apple store if they refuse which I believe they wont than you can go through sprint or buy a screen from ebay and get a certified tech to put it on for u. That will cost you less money but you will void the sprint warranty but to be honest with you. They wont find out if you had replaced the screen or not. Good luck

• Best Buy Geek Squad Warranty is terrible!!!

Not usually a social media poster, but when I searched this topic and found I was not alone, had to vent. As previously mentioned in other posts, it seems that there is a general trend for BB GS warranty service to have a major DISCONNECT between their phone operators/technicians/customer service people and the actual technicians that are sent out to do the repairs, and the subsequent repair of their TV's.
It has been 23 days since I first contacted GS and I have had two home visits from GS and will have 3 different sets of parts ordered by the time they return next weekend!
Some history- I too have bought most of my bigger electronics from BB mainly for lack of serious competition where I live (mainly only Sears). I have bought at least 5 TV's from 32"-55" from them in the last 5 years, and this is the second large TV that has gone out on me within 2.5 years! The first one was a Samsung 47" LED that was 6 mos post warranty and basically the amount that they were going to charge to repair was something crazy! Thus, thinking that it was just the brand, I did my research and settled on a Panasonic Plasma rather than pay for an expensive repair.
Fast forward to 23 days ago. TV fails to turn on, notice power button blinks 8 times. Google search the problem, call GS. This time I did buy the extended warranty, but the tv is still under the manufacturer warranty. Talk to a tech he says no problem, will order parts for you and set up a home repair for after the parts arrive. I get no tracking # from UPS only when it should arrive. Arrival day comes and no parts! Repair is scheduled for the next day! Call GS, (who by the way is NOT 24/7 for repairs, only for tech support) and they say that the parts are delayed so will reschedule the repair appt. Parts arrive 3 days later and next day tech comes and finds out we need different parts! He tells my wife, I'll be back a week from now. No tracking for parts, so figure maybe the tech will bring it with him. Day that the tech said he will be back (a week after his first visit, as per his statement), we get no phone call or visit from the tech. Call GS that night, but of course have to trick the answering system to talk to a LIVE person, a salesperson, that is, and they say I have to call back tomorrow. Talk to them the next day only to find out the parts will arrive the next day and the tech will visit Saturday(yesterday). Tech comes and finds out he needs ANOTHER part! WTH!!! Tells my son, who stayed home to answer the door, that we will be back next week! Call GS and talk to a tech who tells me about the 30 day window or that they will replace the TV. He tells me that he is pretty sure that after the next visit that the tv will work! He also goes on to tell me that if it was him, he would have known what parts to order the FIRST time! He goes on to tell me that there is nothing that he can do since he works from home and that if I have further issues it be best to call corporate HQ and complain! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! In all fairness to the telephone support people, they have all been overly nice and apologetic, but "so sorry" only goes so far. Why can't my local BB GS get on the same page with the techs that troubleshoot over the phone? Best thing to do is never buy from you clowns again! Hope Sears doesn't shut down all their stores here!

Hello beyondpeeved-
I can certainly understand your frustration, no one likes to be without the service of a major electronic product like a TV, but it’s especially annoying when you are faced with delays as well due to parts, etc.
I absolutely apologize for all the delays that you have gone through up to this point and what appears to be a lack of communication on our part regarding the progress of that repair. I’d like to look further into this for you, but I could not find any customer information for you with the email address on your forum profile.
If you could send me a Private Message with your full name, phone number and email address that I might locate a customer profile under, I would appreciate it. If you could also include any work order numbers that you might, that would help as well. You can send me a Private Message by logging into the forum and clicking on the button across from my name on this post.
I look forward to hearing back from you,

Hi
Get in contact with Toshiba service center in your country Australia and they should be able to check if your notebook is covered by warranty:
