Trackpad, magicmouse gestures in FCPX

Hello,
I just bought a trackpad and was quite happy to see how well it works in FCP7 (zoom in timeline or viewer, frame by frame move,...) but was astonished to see that in FCPX only the 'move the timeline' option is available.
You can see in the video enclosed the possibilities available in FCP7
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYS3jDSoQWM
I am currently running Lion and have not checked how was the behaviour  in Snow Leopard
I have same lack of results with magicmouse.
Any ideas?

Can't comment really - but just found this

  • Trackpad zoom gesture  hangs up between "focused points"

In Safari, the trackpad zoom gesture more often than not hangs up between "focused points," that is, you have to repeat the gesture slightly to get it to focus properly.  I assume this is a common defect and I thought I saw a reference to fixing it in the last big OS 10.7 update.  No luck.  Any feedback on this?

  • Use Trackpad for Gestures, Disable Gestures on Mouse?

    HI
I would like to take advantage of the trackpad gestures to improve productivity in Lion. At the moment I dont like using the mouse for gestures because I accidentally gesture sometimes when I dont want to, just by using the mouse. So I have disabled gestures on the mouse, and use hot corners and keys for space and app switching etc.
So I thought I could get a trackpad for gestures with my left hand, and mouse in right.
BUT my question is if I enable gestures for the trackpad then wont the mouse be re-enabled too? So then I'll go back to accidental gesturing when using the mouse. So I only want gestures enabled on the trackpad and not mouse, is this possible?
Alternatively I was thinking without gestures on the mouse there's probably not much point in using a magic mouse, maybe I could invest in a much better mouse without touch surface for gestures, then there wont be a conflict. The magic mouse is not that comfortable.
P.S. I dont want to replace the mouse with the trackpad.
    Thanks!

@inko9nito it works OK for me. Following from my original post, I have disabled touch gestures on the mouse, and use the trackpad for them. Its working quite well for me. I use the mouse for mouse things as normal (right hand) then the trackpad for switching between desktops (left hand), then all the expose stuff like showing all the apps open etc. Its actually a little over the top to use the expensive trackspad just for those few things, but it does help some, as I dont accidentally do expose things on the magic mouse, nor accidentally activate hot corners that I used to use for expose, and its quicker to do as the trackpad is just next to the keyboard. I'd like to think I can expand its use, but can not see the appeal of using it for mouse things instead of a mouse.

  • Gestures and FCPX

    Hi,
I've read that some have problems with their multi-touch gestures.
On my iMac (with OS X Lion) they work very well in every other program, except for FCPX, 10.0.2.
Especially zoom and tripple finger gestures.
    The program is recently installed.
If anyone has a hint, I'd be very happy to hear their oppinion. Maybe it's a knwon FCPX bug, or the preferences file need to be delete (which I read somewhere...).
    Thanks.

Probably same thing as Has anyone had a failed trackpad MacBook pro retina? ? I'm a bit glad I'm not the only one ... :-)

Installed Lion, tried to use gestures but does not work, have macbook with full trackpad without bottoms, went to System Preferences, Trackpads, checked for all features, is there anything else I need to do?

Check some features change others, and if you check someones doesn't work, check it and be sure you no asking do different things with the same gesture, happen to me too so i take the time to check uncheck what i check..

  • Trackpad loosing gestures

Since installing Mountain Lion 2 days ago I have this intermittent situation. When waking the iMac from sleep the majority of magic trackpad gestures are lost. The scrolling arrow function remains but other 2, 3 finger and 4 finger gestures are removed. Also the F3 button on the keyboard remains inactive. I have unpaired, repaired the trackpad and keyboard to no effect. It is a shame it doesnt happen everytime the imac is woken from sleep and a reboot always cures it, but has anyone else experienced this?

oh I feel much better now, thanks very much. It's like I've joined a club!
The other thread was interesting, thanks, but I'm not sure that any of the suggestions are much better than just rebooting or stopping the system from sleeping, which does seem, in my case, to be the trigger to the event.
First time in years Ive ever encountered a problem with an Apple OS update, I trust them to sort it. Thanks for all the help, you're a good man.

  • Help! Trackpad swipe gestures not working - windows 8 pro mc x64

    Hi
I have windows 8 pro mc x64 with bootcamp 5, on my macbook pro 13" mid 2010, everything worked, but my trackpad has no swipe gestures.
No back/forward with 3 fingers on google chrome for exemple.
Is there a WINDOWS REGISTER mod that would enable this feature?
I tried trackpad++ but no good, and also i don't like it, a lot of junk to install.
    Thanks

Trackpad ++ is the only viable option for swiping et. al and is very simple to install.
If you follow the install instructions and read them thoroughly you'll see what I mean.

  • How to activate Magic Trackpad multitouch gestures?

I just upgaded to Lion, and the Magic Trackpad doesn't seem to work properly anymore.
The trackpad preferences don't show the multitouch gestures tab, and I can't even two finger scroll.
I tried to disconnect and reconnect, re-pairing the device in bluetooth, rebooting, but still no luck.
    Any idea?
    EDIT:
I've read that USB Overdrive may be an issue withe the Magic Trackpad on Lion, but I have uninstalled it (properly) before I pugraded, so it shouldn't be the cause of my problem.

My machine is an early 2008 24" iMac with Mountain Lion. I was already using USB Overdrive. I tried using a Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse.
None of the trackpad gestures or tap to click etc, were working.
I tried to fix it and none of the standard approaches worked for me - removing USB Overdrive, including .plist and .kext files, re-setting PRAM and SMC, rediscovering via Blutooth etc.
I finally sorted it by installing Magic Prefs, which worked straight away and gave me good control over how it worked. I was also having no luck with the Magic Mouse gestures and this sorted that as well.

  • Any one has problems with Magic Trackpad´s gestures on mavericks?

all my gestures have fade away with my last upgrade to 10,9,1, Even they appear to be activated but they just doesn´t work.
    any one solved it?

    Hi totito1984,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
My first suggestion is to simply restart your computer which will reset your Magic Trackpad.
If that does not resolve the issue ... try the troubleshooting steps in this article:

  • Trackpad swipe gestures

I'm not sure how to search for this problem, if it even is a legit problem but I'm having issues with my trackpad on my late 2011 Macbook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.1.  This has just started happening recently but my trackpad will constantly swipe back a page instead of scroll down using Chrome.  I've been using the same swipe motions since I purchased this computer but recently it's become much more touchy.  Is this just user issue or is there a something going on with my trackpad?  Thanks!

  • Trackpad gestures freezes after battery runs out

I have noticed very annoying problem with my macbook pro. Everytime when the battery runs out trackpads finger gestures freezes and only one finger using + scrolling with two works but nothing with three or four fingers. Also the mouse acceleration like shuts down. Only way to make the trackpad working again is to reboot the computer.
I have also tried deepsleep widget and the problem doesn't seem to have anything to do with the hibernation but with the battery life ending.
Does anyone have a same problem and any way to fix it without rebooting the computer?

No I mean when the battery really runs out and computer goes to sleep and then the blinking light stops blinking and computer goes to hibernate mode.

  • Trackpad Gestures for Google SketchUp?

    Dear friends,
I'm using a Macbook Pro and the trackpad with gestures and finding it extremely usefull.
Not using the mouse anymore as now my hands are always on the keyboard. And I also found my carpal tunnel issues are disappeared since I started using the trackpad gestures.
So my question is if you know how to setup gestures on the trackpad so I can rotade 3D objects in SketchUp.
Does anyone know anything about SketchUp and Gestures?
Is there any program around to create personalize gestures? I thought it would have been poissible with Snow Laopard but it is not.
    Thanks!!!!

Possible there is noone around that knows something?????? :O

  • Issues with Finder tabs feature + trackpad gestures

    Hello,
Recently installed Yosemite 10.10.1 (clean install + migration of backup data and apps). Like Yosemite design but...
Just after the install, things I am talking about below, were working well but since the very first turn-off and start, things have been going worse and worse, especially with Finder.
1st issue. Opening tabs in Finder (cmd + click on folder from the sidebar) works in a bizarre way:  when I open a folder such as Documents in a tab > OK but.... when I open the folder Utilities (part of the Applications one) from the Finder sidebar, the former open tabs as well as the left sidebar of the Finder vanish and just get a unique Finder window (without the left sidebar) with the Utilities folder. This unexpected and undesired behavior happens in both full screen or regular modes.
2nd issue. When scoping into a folder which consists of multiple sub-folders, the "back-and-forth" navigation to the previous or next folder (similar to previous or next page) does not work with the usual Trackpad gestures (swipe with 2 or 3 fingers) while it was working super well just after the install.
Hope these undesired behaviors of Finder have been already identified as bugs and will be fixed very soon. Should any of you have an idea about that, welcome.
    Thank you!

Self reply. Just found workaround and solution:
1st issue: step 1 > activated "Quit Finder" in Finder menu bar (thanks to Onyx), step 2 > quit Finder, step 3 > restart Finder and... step 4 > all folders open properly in tabs.
However, also noticed that the width of the Finder sidebar seems to be preserved as a preference, only as from a certain width. Below this limit, seems that the manual settings of the sidebar width are lost and next time the folder is open it comes with a shrunk sidebar (Yosemite bug or normal behavior? Cannot recall such a behavior in Mavericks).
2nd issue: back-and-forth navigation in Finder pages (within a same window or tab) works well with trackpad swipe gesture at the condition the Trackpad System Preference "swiping through pages" is set up with option "3 fingers" or "2 or 3 fingers". Option "2 fingers only" does not work in Finder.
    My 2 cents!

  • Trackpad gestures disappears after waking

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, upon waking from sleep, my Trackpad's gestures, (ie. swiping spaces by dragging 3 fingers across trackpad), disappears.  No trackpad gestures work, (ie pinch to zoom, etc.)
After some time, Mountain Lion appears to sleep without reason momentarily, (less than a second) and gestures then return.
Or a restart will restore gestures.

You can start by creating a new user in system preferences>users and groups.
sign into a new user and you are virtually on a clean installation of ML. See if your issue happends in this setting.
You may need to perform a PRAM reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
if that doesn't fix it, and a new user does not show the issue, then it is certainly a third party app conflicting with the OS.
if it still happens in a new user, you may need to reinstall ML from the recovery partition>
To get to the recovery partition restart your computer,  hold CMD+R down when you hear the boot up chime. Open Disk Utility first (verify your boot disk and repair if needed) and then close it and reinstall ML.

  • How can I go back and forward on a webbrowser using trackpad?

    Hello
I upgraded my os with Lion.
in the fore version, I could use three fingers to go back and forware on the webbrowser,
    but now I can't.
I can't find any options in any pages.
I think that was very useful..
How can I do it again?

    Hi Hyok:
Go to System Preferences > Trackpad > More Gestures and make sure you have "Swipe between pages" checked. You can set it for 2 or 3 fingers or 3 fingers only.
The other thing to keep in mind is that, in Lion, the swipe direction will be reversed from Snow Leopard. In other words, to swipe back a page in Safari, you will need to swipe towards the right instead of the left. This mimics the finger movements of the iPad and is more true to what you would do if the page was a physical object and you were moving it out of the way. It could be that you already have this box checked but aren't swiping the right direction to go backwards.
I highly recommend giving this new swiping technique a chance, as I have found it an improvement over the old way. It took me about a week to get used to it. If you try it and really don't like it, you can go to the "Scroll and Zoom" tab in Trackpad preferences and deselect "Scroll direction: Natural".
    Hope this helps.
