Trade-in Next plan without getting new phone

Once i reach the payoff to upgrade and i am eligible to upgrade my Next plan phone, can i trade the phone in without getting a new Next plan and just bring my own?

Hello @Zer0320
The pay to upgrade with Next is only if you actually plan to upgrade to a new device.
In your case, you would actually pay off the installment plan and then trade in your device via the AT&T Buyback program.
You can also bring your phone to an AT&T store for instant in-store appraisal and applicable credit.
Thank you,
Charise

  • Want to get new phones

i wanted to see if we could possibly get the rest of our payment waived so my fiancé and I can get new I phone 6s! I want to upgrade for more GB and a larger phone! I've been on time with my payments every month and I've also had to deal with being over charged very many times! Could you please take my help into consideration and make an AT&T customer happy for once!

If you are on the NEXT program, you can upgrade once you pay up to your trade in installment, depending on the NEXT plan you signed up for.
With AT&T Next, the regular price of your smartphone is divided into low monthly installment payments that are conveniently added to your bill.
    Options:
AT&T Next 24: Divided into 30 installments; trade in and upgrade after 24 installments.
AT&T Next 18: Divided into 24 installments; trade in and upgrade after 18 installments.
AT&T Next 12: Divided into 20 installments; trade in and upgrade after 12 installments.
AT&T Next 12 with Down Payment: 30% of device cost down, divided into 28 installments; trade in and upgrade after 12 installments

  • Warning: remove all all plastic as soon as you get new phone

I just took delivery of a new iPhone 4 today that was ordered online through AT&T. After deactivating my 3G and activating the new phone, and copying my 3G data to the new phone, I removed the front and back plastic protective film on the new phone only to find a nice set of scratches in the front glass next to the ear speaker.
Now I get to go through the hassle of dealing with AT&T for an exchange and getting my 3G re-activated until the replacement arrives.
Don't make the same mistake as me. Check your phone for this great quality control first.

Now I'm very confused. I called Apple first, and when I told them I did the purchase through AT&T, they told me to call AT&T.
Reading comprehension skills needs some work.
Copied from my first post in this thread.
+AT&T does not handle iPhone exchanges under Apple's warranty.+
+*You can return the iPhone for payment credit with AT&T - which can be done with AT&T only if your iPhone was purchased from AT&T and order another, or you can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store of there is one nearby for an exchange under warranty.*+
What you are doing is NOT an exchange under warranty. You are returning your iPhone for payment credit. When returning an iPhone for payment credit, the iPhone and all package contents must be returned to the store where the iPhone was purchased. You are issued a credit for accounting purposes and if you want to purchase another iPhone, you need make another purchase.
Apple handles all iPhone exchanges under Apple's warranty which is also the party that determines if an iPhone is exchanged under warranty, which doesn't require a credit being issued for the original purchase when the original purchase is returned followed by purchasing another iPhone. The iPhone and only the iPhone is exchanged for another with the iPhone only - not all package contents since only the iPhone needs to be exchanged.

  • Only solution to get new phone?

worst thing the phone does is i wake up and am late because my alarm didn't go off. the reason being that the phone turned off even though charged or it got put into safe mode. also won't let me type at times!, random screen shots, freezes, just turns off, kicks me out of apps. i've tried hard reset, cleaning the cache, pulling the battery, replacement battery. been thru several certified pre-owned of the same model. still need to try pulling the battery for 5 minutes.  anyone think there is an alternative to not getting a new phone?  thanks.

        Hi singingfiend!
An assortment of issues like this deserve an assortment of resolutions. And I'm here to provide the ingredients toward getting your Fascinate up and running again without these described problems.
Right off the bat, I'm terribly sorry to learn about all of this. Your phone should increase productivity, not debilitate it. So, let's work on this together. Now, you've cited doing a lot of troubleshooting (which is greatly appreciated) but I'd like to take a different route here. Have you ever manually launched your device into safe mode (without it doing so itself of course)? I think it's best if we give that a shot and see how it reacts http://vz.to/uaN4PO . That will help us better isolate the issue down to the apps if that is indeed the case. If it works properly, we'd want to look at a hard reset only without loading your apps back on directly after http://vz.to/tC9oiG . In other words, I know you've tried some of this before but we just want to make sure it's done in an order that your device doesn't become impacted again. Additionally, are you still within the one year manufacturer's warranty or do you have insurance? I know you've been through several replacements and not looking for a new phone but it's important we exhaust all options to get you a working phone immediately.

  • Does a new contract mean you should get new phone? NEW MEANS NEW,RIGHT?

I signed a 2 year contract and got what I was told was a brand new Blackberry Tour. Problem is when I sent in the rebate, they said the rebate was already given for that particular device.
Long story short, the phone had so many problems it was not usable 4 of 7 days a week. Had 5 replacements in 6 months and still had to buy a prepaid phone to make calls.
After having made a federal case out it, they sent a new phone, different model because the Tours were defective per RIM. However, they snuck in a total contract restart and added 9 months to my contract.
Seems to me this is just wrong. Trying to get this sorted out has cost me at least 15 solid working days and still they wont revert the contract to original start date.
I decided I can't waste anymore time fighting with Verizon to correct their problem and have heard the best ways to resolve issues like this is and FCC complaint and filing in small claims court for the fees they want to charge to end contract early (according to their start date, not mine) it would be so nice to get some reimbursement for money lost not only in time spent haggling over the issue but actual business lost because I didn't have a working phone.
I was a private contractor and can show on paper every time I missed out on a job because the phone didn't turn on or couldn't make calls. I was getting $55-85 an hour too. This ought to be an interesting one now that I'm ill and unable to work anymore. I have a lot of time to spend filing complaints.

Verizon sells certified like new devices for those who wish to get a cheaper, but still functional phone. It sounds like you purchased one of the highly discounted certified like new models.

  • Planning to get New 27" Does Boot camp work with the 1T and 3T Fusions Drives

I am planning to get a NEW 27" IMAC [if they ever come out] and use Parallels Desktop® 8 or Bootcamp for Gamming.
    Going with:
    27" 3.4GHz quad-core Intel core I7 with 8MB L3 cache
    8GB Ram - Upgrade to 32GB 1600MHz DDR3 from Crucial or OWC
    3TB 7200rpm Fusion Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX Graphic processor with 2GB of GDDR5 memory
    AppleCare Protection Plan
    Samsung SE-506AB Slim Portable Blu-ray Writer =+$89.
I work with Photoshop, some Video and Play World of Warcraft.
Planning to do Gaming on the PC Side with using Bootcamp or Parallels Desktop® 8.
As you see I was planning to get the 3TB 7200rpm Fusion Drive.
But I don't know if it would work with Bootcamp.
Not sure if a separate Volume need to be made for the PC side?
If a 768 SSD would work?
Or do I have to go with Regular hard drive?

    Hello,
Kind of funny, the 3 TB isn;tsupported for BootCamp!?
    Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to configure Fusion Drive?
When ordered with a Fusion Drive, your iMac or Mac mini is pre-configured.
Can external USB, FireWire, or Thunderbolt hard drives be added to Fusion Drive?
An external drive cannot be used as part of a Fusion Drive volume. Fusion Drive is designed to work with an internal hard disk drive and internal flash storage.
Can I add a partition to the hard disk with Fusion Drive?
Using Disk Utility, you can add one partition to the hard disk on Fusion Drive. Once you add the partition, the "plus" symbol in Disk Utility to add additional partitions will be grayed out. You cannot partition the Flash storage.
If I create a hard disk partition is it part of Fusion Drive?
The additional partition is not part of Fusion Drive. The new partition is a separate volume that is physically located on the hard disk drive.
Can I add a Windows partition?
You can create one additional partition on the hard disk with Fusion Drive. You can create either a Mac OS X partition or a Windows partition.
If creating a Windows partition, use Boot Camp Assistant to create it, not Disk Utility. From the Go menu, choose Utilities. Then, double-click Boot Camp Assistant and follow the onscreen instructions. For more information on Boot Camp see the Boot Camp support page.
Note: Boot Camp Assistant is not supported at this time on 3TB hard drive configurations.

  • Family Plan Upgrade to New Phones/Activation

    Hi,
My mom is the primary line for our family plan. We have 3 other lines besides hers in the plan. All the phonelines are eligible for upgrades right now, but my mom's line has an extra $50 dollars off upgrade discount.
My question is, if my mom's line is upgraded to a certain phone, does that certain phone have to be activated using her phone number, or could I activate her phone and use it with my phone number?
Reason being is, she doesn't want a fancy phone but her line has nicer phones to upgrade to since she has the $50 discount. I was wondering if she could upgrade to that phone, but then if I could activate it using my phone number (so in effect the phone would actually be mine without my phone number having to change)?
    Thanks,
    MM
Oh I was also wondering, when it says "Data Pack required" for a phone that I want to upgrade to, do I have to get a data pack in order to upgrade to the phone or get one after upgrading to the phone? Can I just upgrade to the phone without using data or getting a data pack?

My question is, if my mom's line is upgraded to a certain phone, does that certain phone have to be activated using her phone number, or could I activate her phone and use it with my phone number?  Yes, you can do this.  If you order in-store or over the phone, just explain what you want to do to the rep and they will take care of it.  If you order online, have your Mom click on the "transfer upgrade" button next to her line and that will start the process.

Note that any phone that is eligible to upgrade can purchase any of the phones that Verizon currently offers at the 1 or 2 year contract price.  The only difference in what is available to your Mom's line is the $50 credit ON TOP of the reduced contract price.
    Thanks,

You must have a data package active on the line that the phone is active on at all times.  When you activate the phone on any line, you will be automatically prompted to select an appropriate data package,

  • IMessage on iPad is coming from email not number after getting new phone

Since getting a new iPhone my iPad is not showing a phone number I can send a iMessage from only an email, how can I sync it back up to my phone or add in a phone number

It may be possible if you have an iPhone with an iPhone number and then are able to add that in your iPad.
    But I don't see how.
For the rest of us without an iPhone, it doesn't appear to be possible to put a regular phone number in our iPads.
It will not let me add a phone number of any kind.
iOS 7, new iPad Mini and iPad 3rd generation. Not possible.
Do you have any screen shots from your iPad with a phone number in it ?
    That would help.

  • Able to get new phone for Christmas present if not Account Owner?

Okay so I have a gifted from the trade-in program and I want to buy my dad the phone he has been wanting for Christmas. He is eligible for an upgrade, but he is the only account owner. So I am wondering if I will be able to purchase him the phone he wants for Christmas and not yet put it on our plan and than after Christmas he can go into the store and activate it himself and so on. But before I waste gas going to the store, I just want to know if I am able to do that?

Even if i don't put it on the account yet... and i just buy it and he does whatever he has to do with it.

  • HT4623 cannot get new phone to activate

    cannot get phone to activate

It's because the activation servers are being slammed due to the release of iOS7.
The only things you can do are keep trying, or wait it out.

  • Saving visual voicemail messages when getting new phone?

No laughing but I have an iPhone 3GS running OS 6.1.3 that I desperately need to replace. However, there are old (visual) voicemails on the phone from my Dad who has passed away. Is there anyway to save these messages possibly transfering them to a new iPhone 5?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109

  • HT6154 hi, my iPhone 5 doesn't respond with touch screen. I went to Apple store they offer me new one, however I don't want to get new phone because my phone works with headphones and Suri. The problem it that my phone has passcode.

I just want to find out if I buy any keyboard dock would I be able to unlooked my phone since the screen doesnt respond?

Why do you not want a fully functional device?  That seems really silly.

  • Not pleased "next plan"

I was just at the att at Ross park mall in pgh pa and had very poor expierece. I had a customer service rep sell me a new phone and the " next plan" after getting the phone and case out for me he then checked to see if I was even able to do the " next" plan. (He had explained that this was to keep their customers happy and being able to get new phones without paying an arm and a leg ) well after I was excited to get the phone without spending a fortune he then told me I could not do this service and would have to buy the phone outright. He told me that bc of my contract it was past the cut off date for this service.
When exactly was the cut off( and why is there a cut off date if this is to keep customers happy?!) and why would you not
have the reps check this before selling this service to customers? If he would have informed me of this at the get go I would have still purchased the phone out right but after the rep telling me one thing then going back and telling me something different after I left.
This was my first negative expierece at this store and I will not go back to it.

The rep at AT&T Corperate Store do not know what he is talking about. But if you started a 2 year contract with AT&T on or before January 14, 2014, ( last year ) you can switch to Next Program and get new phone. Remember, doing Next Program is buying new phone at full price, but payments spread out in monthly installments, and NOT about getting new service contract. You can check to see if you can do Next by dialing *NEW# on your cell phone, you will get free text message letting you know.
