  • How to find business process diagrams of SAP reference model

    hello guys,
I am reading book 'SAP R/3 Business Blueprint: Understanding Enterprise Supply Chain Management' recently. In this book, the author shows many EPC process diagrams of SAP reference model, but how could I find the process diagrams in SAP system.
I google this 'SAP Reference model', and find transaction: SB09 Business Navigator-Process view. But I can not find this transaction in IDES4.7or ECC6 IDES.
    Thanks.

  • Coal trading - business processes

    Hi experts,
My client is into coal trading, in that they are using forward contract with LC.. please send your suggestions and documents in order to map this into SAP.
    Regards,
    Balu R.V

    Hi Balu
Forward contract means they are agreeing the price which they have to pay in future for the present exchange rate to the vendor.
You can Map this by using contract with valididty here you have to use Price  as per agreed to the vendor with future date.
And maintain source list with this contract when creating PO system should pick valid contract with valid Price here you have to take care system should proposes the Contract price in PO or during GR.
And i hope this is duty free import then all values like Basic, Insurance, Frieght, shipment will go to Material cost. I am not sure you can  take costing for the raw material with Moving average price asn V without production activity or BOM pl check this with FI consultant as they have to  maintain costing BOM for this purpose in order to take costing.
Now coming to LC which is not supported in SAP you have to build function module for reporting purposes only and not for any transcatioon data The most you can do is advances payment with Z condition type and statistical  in Pricing procedure which should not added to the gross and for the same condition in PO  you can assign Banker as vendor and pay  as per advance payment terms to the banker and release the LC then do the Goods then post vendor invoice using MIRO.

  • Use of BPMN diagrams on different levels (Business Process Architect 11gR1)

I have an issue regarding the representation of different levels of diagrams in BPA... I have been using following types of diagrams from the highest level to the lowest:
    - Structuring model,
    - Value-added chain diagram,
    - Business process diagram (BPMN),
    - Business process diagram (BPMN),
    - Function allocation diagram (this is generated automatically).
Those levels are linked with use of "Assignment" function on individual elements and that enables the user to drill-down to the last level (except between Structuring model and Value-added chain diagram - I can't find a way to link those two).
As you might have noticed from the list of diagrams above, I have used two BPMN diagrams to represent two successive levels. Is this OK? On the first of those two diagram types, I represented activities with "Function" elements (I also used Start, Intermediate, End events and Rule elements).
I linked every "Function" element to a more detailed BPMN diagram on the next level. That one includes "Human task", "Automated activity" elements (and also Start, Intermediate, End events, Rule elements and also others) and is eventually meant to be transformed into BPEL.
That is how I understood the "Oracle_BPA_Suite_QuickStart_Sample_Guide.pdf" and samples included in Architect 11gR1. Is that the right way to do it? Does anybody have a better suggestion on how to represent the whole chain of diagrams?
How can "Assignees" be represented in the BPMN diagram, where I used "Function" elements? Is it possible to link "Structuring model" elements to Value-added chain diagrams?
I hope this describes my dilemma well enough and doesn't frighten you all away... I thank you all for your feedback in advance.

It is possible to assign Structural Elements to any Model Type in BPA. If you are not able to make this assignment it is not active in your Method Filter. You can log in with the Entire Method filter to check this out. You can also modify the filter you are using to include this ability.
The hierarchy you are using is fine and is a commonly used one. Some people use the EPC model, which is specifc to BPA and not a standard, at the level below the value-chain but many use BPMN as you have. If your intent is to use the first BPMN as a pure business process model then you may consider creating a separate custom Model Type, based on the BPMN model, with a scaled down set of allowable objects. This is also done through customizing the filter. If you do this you can also rename the model types in the filter if you wish to have different names at each level.
Note of caution, modifying a method filter can have impacts and should generally be done by someone with a working knowledge of the meta model. If you chosse to change a filter supplied with the tool, copy it and rename it, then update the copy. Always retain the original filter provided with the tool. If you are doing something as simple as adding the ability to use the assignment between Structural Elements and Value-Added Chain models, that would be no big deal. If you get into reusing object and model types that has more impact on the functionality of the tool.

  • Difference between Business Process and Workflow

    Hi all,
What is the difference between Business Process and Workflow? i have googled it and I don't really understand that complicated definition? Is there any examples to illustrate the difference between the both?

    Hi,
I will try to put here , my perspective of this. If somebody knows better, they can update further on this.
Business process is purely on the perspective of the users. It may or maynot have anything to do with the system. When a draw a business flow diagram, we dont take care of how each and every process is handled in the system. The best illustration is an example of authorisation.
Let me say that I create a Purchase requisition. Once it is released a PO will be created by procurement managerD
This is a business process. However if we look at the system perspective, it can be like this.
    1. Create a PR.
    2. Check the value of the PR
    3. If value <$100,an email needs to be send to person A, if it is $100 to 300$, an email should be send to person B and if >$300, an email should be send to B and C.
4.Once it is released, an email shoudl be send to D for creating a PO on this PR.
Here not only the process, but also how the work is delegated across  various entities of the process is mentioned.
There are softwards like VISIO which actually take care of the business process in the perspective of the entities involved in the process. A workflow is a moredetailed version of business process with the roles of entities clearly defined and hence configured well in the system.
The concept is workflow is mostly used in the processes of authorisations, business activity monitoring(BAM), etc.
Hope I make it little clear to you.
You can reward if my response is of some help to you

  • Pictorial view of business process of Procure to pay cycle.

    Hi
Can some one give a detailed diagram explaning the AFS  business process of procure to pay cycle
    Thanks and regards
    Sunil

    Hi,
Based on the stock availability in store room, the store manager will create a request for purchasing the material which is recorded in SAP by means of a Purchase requisition.
Now the procurement department will look into this PR, check whether this has to be processed f urther or rejected. If it has to be purchased, it releases teh PR and creates a Purchase order (PO) for a specific vendor. This PO will be send to the correct vendor.
Vendor now manufactures/procures teh material and send it to the store room. Once the material is received in the store room, a Goods receipt(GR) document will be created  in SAP. This will increase teh inventory fo the material and the value of teh material in the store room based on teh GR value.
The vendor also sends an invoice for the material he has delivered, to the procurement department. This is received by the dept by means of Invoice Receipt(IR). Later the procurement dept, will pay fo rthe invoice.
This is the basic cycle. There are lot of functionalities within this cycle like selecting the correct vendor for creating POs, updatin gthe correct prices in the PO, checking the PO and GR values, checking PO and IR values, sending PO to vendor by email etc. and so on.

  • Business Process Management Tool Evaluation ARIS or Systems Architect?

    Hi Group
I have joined this community yesterday, so I am pretty much new here.
I work as a Business Process Analyst for a semi govt company. I have been tasked for evaluating a tool for business process management.
    Current scenario is as under:
    1) We are using Microsoft visio as a mapping software
    2) BPMN standards for process modelling
    3) The design phase of our new ERP software will be starting soon.
    4) My company has got vision to become BPM company over the years, we are at very early stage of it.
    The questions I have are,
    1)  Is it worth getting ARIS or System Architect at this stage only for modelling. If now what are the justifications?
    2) Based on your experience what are the steps involved in evaluating such tools
    3) How hard is it to import those visio drawings into ARIS or System Architect
    Your response is much appreciated
    Thanks
    Hemal

    Hi,
My view (I work as an Enterprise Architect for a very large Resources Company).
Visio is a drawing tool. It produces nice diagrams and drawings which have no real connection with the process objects, or system objects they represent. typically an organisation ends up with 1,000's of these e diagrams which end up all having to be maintained (and usually are not) so quickly end up being largely out of date and useless.
Tools like ARIS and other BPM tools, are purpose built Modelling tools. The Process Models built, and each and every object they are composed of are stored in a single, searchable and reportable object oriented database. Each object (if the tool is implemented correctly) has exactly 1 original keyed by a Globally unique Identifier. Other occurrences or copies of that object can be created that are used in multiple places, in multiple processes. Hence maintenance should be easier. If a change is required to the object, change it in one place only, and its automatically also updated in all the other object copies or occurrences. try that with Visio.
Further, if the models are created using the required and correct notation (for example BPMN or BPEL, then they may be exported into or integrated into application or execution layers that support these notations. Usually this is a part automatic, and part manual process. Hence the BPM models are living representations (not 100% but at least some %) of the running code or processes in your systems.
Eventually the nirvana will be when this model to execution paradigm is 100% automated, for 100% of business processes, across any platform or system architecture required. A good dream eh!
The proviso is that all this is designed, built and governed correctly. Like most things, the idea can be good, but the execution bad.
There are several examples of BPM Modelling tools that are available as free downloads. Savvion, Tibco and Intallio are 3 that come to mind that do this. Perhaps try one or more?
ARIS has the advantage that it is more integrated with SAP than any of the others.
The other think that has influenced us toward ARIS is that SAP now use it internally (so I am told) to define and govern the services that end up in their products. the Process is called PIC (Process Integration Content).
There is a separate thread on it Do SAP Plan to Productise the PIC Internal Process for Customers & ISV's?.
    Hope this helps.

  • High-level business process scenario

Hi all, I have a business process scenario for which CRM and ECC has to be used. The scenario is like this:
There are 2 subsidiaries of a company - A and B, which are into trading of materials.
Between A and customer there is sales agreement. Between B and vendor there is purchase agreement.
Whenever customer requires materials, it will send request to A. So, A creates a sales order. B in turn sends a request to vendor for which a purchase order is created. The vendor ships the goods directly to customer. The vendor bills B for the purchase order. B adds some margin and then it goes for inter-company settlement with A. A bills the customer for the materials. In this entire process, both A and B earns profit through margins.
It has to be noted that CRM has to be used as contact point with customer.
Now I have the following questions:
    1. How would the high-level business design be like?
    2. How would be the document flow?
    3. How can inter-company settlement and billing be done?
All constructive comments and feedback will be rewarded.

    Hello Animesh,
Can you please let me know the solution you found for the intercompany business process. I have the similar kind process which needs to be configured in CRM7.
    Thanks a lot

    Hi Animesh,
The thumb rule to CRM process designing is stick to customer process...
Thus u jst hav to stick to process design of company A and its interaction with Customer.
We are not concerned with how the material will be purchansed, but we are concerned with how we will be delivering it to end customer.
Thus, once customer place an order to company A, our process would suggest a sales order for the customer with one of the partner function "Vendor" as B with the required material. Now later process in R/3 would convert this sales order with customer as soldtoparty to purchase order with vendor as B and one of the secondary partner soldto party as our original customer.
And billing would happen the way it is... ie. based on sales order.. thus u will have some inflow.. again u will be raising a purchase requisition to company B thus that would be your outflow..
That was a really good scenario to think about.

  • Shall i draw transition to detail process in the master process diagram

i have a master detail workflow. both process in one workflow item type.
    Master process diagram
    [start] --> [activity_A] --> [detailprocesss] ---> [wait] ----> [end]
    Detail process diagram
    [start] --> [notification_B] --> [continue] ----> [end]
in the master process, from [activity_A] i am starting the detail process using wf_engine API and set the parent relation before calling start api.
My question is, shall i draw the transition from [activity_A] to [detailprocess] in the master process diagram?
much of ur help is appreciated,

If you have drawn the transition from Activity A to the subprocess to the Wait, then this is what the process will do - run Activity A, then run the subprocess, then wait.
If you draw the transition from Activity A to Wait, then the process will run Activity A and then wait.
    As per my last post:
Consider what will happen if you put a link in your diagram. Activity A will start new processes as detail flows. When it is complete, it will then transition to the detailprocess activity, and run that again, and then move on to the Wait activity. If that is what you want to happen (which it may be - I don't know enough about your business process to be able to guess whether this is what you want to do or not), then you need to include the link. If you just want processes created by Activity A and then to wait, you need to transition from Activity A to the Wait.
Try it and see whether the results you get are what you expected, and if not then try it the different way. Again - I don't know enough about your business process to be able to guess what you want to happen.

  • Regarding Trading Business

    Dear All,
How can a trading business scenario be mapped in SAP.
    Regards
    Atul Keshav

Trading contracts are documents in the SAP System that integrate multiple legal contracts between customers and vendors. With the trading contract, both sales and purchase orders can be maintained using a single transaction.
Usually in a trading company, one person or department carries out both buying and selling procedures. The simultaneous sales and purchasing data entry screen is necessary to avoid redundant data entries and reduce missed operations.
With one trading contract document, the system creates follow-on sales side document and purchase side document after releasing. In the contract document header, you can maintain sales side data that is copied to each item line. Then you maintain purchasing data in each item line. You can create multiple purchase orders to fulfill one sales order if necessary. Trading contracts are, therefore, sales-order-driven documents. Trading contract can be used as one-sided contract such as purchase side only contract and sales side only contract. Using position management function, you can manage the material position and subsequent process of one-side contract item.
The Trading Contract component enables you to implement various different business transactions for integrating sales documents and purchase documents. You can, for example, create the following type of the trading contract:
    Domestic trading contract
    Import trading contract
    Export trading contract
    Off-shore trading contract (third-country deal)
    Integration
The vendor and customer master, material master, conditions, sales transactions, and purchasing transactions must be in use if you want to use the Trading Contract component.
    Features
The Trading Contract component is a center of trading business. It incorporates sales orders, purchase orders, and vendor billing documents for trading expenses. Users can monitor the processing status of all subsequent transactions associated with the trading contract via extended document flow.
It also provides accurate profit simulation report, including all the costs and revenue elements, when you enter data in the trading contract
After the deals are completed and all the data is transferred to Accounting, you can use the trading contract number to check the actual profit.
The Trading Contract component provides support for the following:
    Multiple units of measure
    Multiple currencies
    Trade pricing
    Partner functions
    Portfolio assignment
    Open order/Delivery control
    Incompleteness check
    Status control and release check
