Transaction propagation between OC4J to non-OC4J J2EE container

I have a OC4J instance 10.1.3.1 containing a stateless session EJB 2.1. This bean call another session EJB in Websphere EJB container. The call goes through but the transaction is not distributed, meaning I cannot roll the transaction back from the OC4J container.
I have tried all kinds of context factories but it doesen't work. I use a XA datasource to an Oracle DB from the Websphere container.
Does anyone know how to propagate transactions from an OC4J container to another J2EE container:
Thanks
regards
A Bastell

You can specify the JNDI properties in your JSP/Java Client to lookup the EJB if it's in a different EJB container than the one provided by the JSP container.

    Hi Badri,
    ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory is for clients which got deployed inside OC4J container..
    For looking up EJB from a stand alone java client please use RMIInitialContextFactory..So please change ur code....
    Also please check ur server.xml
    Since you have specified your ejb domain as "sampledemo"
    you have to use that domian only for look up..But it seems that you are looking up for "Demo" domain instead of "sampledemo" domain...So change your code to reflect that..
    Code snippet for the same is :
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put("java.naming.provider.url", "ormi://localhost/sampledemo");
    env.put("java.naming.factory.initial", "om.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "guest");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "welcome");
    Context ic = new InitialContext (env);
    Hope this helps

  • Override EJB 3 transaction interceptor in OC4J 10.1.3 possible?

    Hi
    I'm using OC4J 10.1.3 with EJB 3 container managed transactions. I need to override the default transaction interceptor to add some additionnal logic that needs to be aware that a transaction will be commited, and I don't see any other way to do this since normal interceptors are not aware that a transaction is about to be commited when the method exits. Is there a way to do that?
    TIA
    Eric

    Anybody? Since I'm using Bean Managed Transactions, should the transaction context be propagated through each call? When I do the same kind of test with Container Managed Transactions I can see that the transaction propagation is working... I thought it is supposed to work in both cases, the only difference being that with BMT the bean itself is managing the transaction...
    Please, any help would be greatly appreciated...

  • Difference between OC4J Standalone & IIS for BI Presentation services

    Hi experts,
    i had this question in my mind for last couple of weeks and did not get good answer by self study.
    my understanding with IIS & OC4J server is,
    1.if BI Presentation services is setup to IIS Webserver, It is also using OC4J as application server, because IIS is just an HTTP Server where the presentation services also need an Application server which is OC4J for OBIEE. Is this true.
    2.if the IIS Server is only HTTP Server, what is OC4J and standlone OC4J for OBIEE.
    i think the difference between IIS and OC4J is ( true or false)
    1. oc4j or oc4j Standalone is application server( contains OC4J Instance(J2EE) and HTTP Server)
    2. oc4j itself has a an HTTP server which is used if we dont plan to deploy IIS Webserver.
    3. IIS server is only HTTP which can be used in Production environments and will still use OC4j as application server.
    MY question is how to configure IIS server and configuration files and oc4j if we plan to deploy a environment like this.
    i followed OBIEE installtion documents and did not get a clear picture.
    there is something called PLUG-IN's (iis plugin and j2ee plugin ) which is used if we deploying on IIS and OAS(WEBLOGIC)
    this is is my understanding and Please Correct me if i am wrong
    thanks

  • JAX-RPC vs OC4J J2Ee web service

    Hi,
    Currently we use Oracle10G 10.0.3 developer preview edition. we deployed same web service on both JAX-RPC platfrom and OC4J J2EE web service platfrom (RPC encoding style). We found that old platform seems to perform better than JAx-RPC platfrom with regard to serialization and de-serialzation. We also did the test on Doc/literal style in JAX-RPC platfrom and its performance is not as good as the one deployed on old platform. We understand JAX-RPC is new implementation and Oracle10.0.3 is under developer preview edition and so it may not be optimized. We have following questions
    1. Is this a known issue in JAX-RPC platform?
    2. Is there anyway to optimize JAX-RPC web service? Like using different XMl parser (instead of Oracle XML parser)
    3. When is the final release of 10.0.3 expected?
    4. Will Oracle be supporting old web service platfrom (OC4J J2EE web service platform)? If so how long?
    Thanks and regards

  • OC4J j2ee data-source.xml

    Hi Friends,
    I am very confused with lots of ORACLE_HOME in EBS :(
    Where do I find the PATH directory where the data-source.xml is located for

    If you are integrating BAM to EBS via BPEL Sensors, you create the connection in the Enterprise Manager tool or modify oc4j-ra.xml on the SOA Suite:

    The main difference is the version of OC4J. They do not often match. If the extended OC4J is a later version than the one packaged in JDeveloper, then applications developed in JDeveloper are not guaranteed to work in extended OC4J. It is always recommended
    to develop and test against the OC4J in JDeveloper.
    If you are using JDeveloper 10.1.2 make sure to use the right admin.jar (always point the path to the one in OC4J install ) in your OC4J connection.
    In future release Oracle is trying to address such problems by allowing user to configure JDeveloper against a particular version of OC4J.

  • Join between Oracle and non-Oracle Database

    We are working at a project with the follow architecture:
    - 5 Databases (3 Oracle, 1 Sybase and 1 DB2);
    - Session Bean like Session Facade Pattern;
    - Entity Bean (BMP);
    - OC4J (Oracle Container for J2EE);
    The case is that we cannot make join between tables of different bases, for example, join with one table of Oracle and one other of DB2, therefore the customer does not possess tool midleware for this.
    The idea that appeared was: we make a query in table XXX of Oracle and return a HashTable with its respective VOs and Keys (PKs from the first query that will serve of base for the second query), later we have access the DB2 that one second collection would return, to inside make join of the application.
    The problem is that with this solution, we will have fall in the performance. And we do not know if it is the best form.
    Do you have any idea???
    Thanks,
    Eric Sander

    Hi,
    If you have different databases then the join has to be done in the VM (either by the appserver or by you).
    If you want to do it yourself, I would try the following:
    -write one DAO per business object (at least one per database)
    -this DAO contains the specifics of its database
    -return a hashtable of keys and VOs from one DAO (as you say you do?)
    -in the other DAO, add a method "joinWith ( Hashtable foreignKeys )" that will return the join's result
    -implement the method along these lines:
    1. retrieve the candidate rows from the second DAO's tables (1 query execution)
    2. put the keys in a new Hashtable, say "candidateKeys" (meaning 1 iteration over all results)
    3. iterate over all elements of foreignKeys (1 iteration)
    4. for each element, check if a key exists in "candidateKeys" (1 hash lookup, very fast)
    5. add any such row to the result
    This is called a hash join (Oracle does it internally if you do a join).
    It is the fastest algorithm to do joins.
    Best,
    Guy

  • Transaction propagation and integration

    I am currently performing a product assesment for integration platforms (EAI/ESB).
    The environment is somewhat this: there will be a J2EE architecture that envolves many types of components. In addition, there will be a integration product installed.
    If a UserTransaction is started from a Session Bean and this session bean performs two types of functions. Functionalities that reside entirely inside the J2EE container and functionalitites that reside within the selected EAI/ESB product.
    Is the transaction context propagated to the EAI/ESB product through some interface in a way, that would make the EAI/ESB functionalities a solid part of the transaction?
    Thank you for all your help!

    You will need to pick a product that supports distributed transactions. This works for example with most JMS implementations and datasources.
    (see http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2001/05/23/j2ee.html?page=3 for an explanation on the subject)

    From the advanced architecture document I found this "slide"....
    Transactions
    • Global End-to-End JTA/XA Transactions
    • BPEL <-> ESB <-> BPEL
    • JCA <-> ESB <-> WSIF
    • ESB Inherits Inbound Global Transactions
    • “Async” Routing Rules ends scope of current transaction
    • New ESB initiated transactions grouped by ESB System
    • Transaction Exception Handling and Rollback
    • Errors on existing inbound transactions rolled back to initiator
    • Errors on ESB initiated transactions can be resubmitted
    • End-to-end message flow terminates on first failed service
    regardless of transaction state or owner
    I guess "inherits inbound global transactions" means, that ESB processes/functions can be made a part of an existing transaction. If this is true, than this solves my problem :)

    What is the programming(ABAP) difference between Unicode and non Unicode?
    Edited by: NIV on Apr 12, 2010 1:29 PM

    Hi
    The difference between programming in Unicode or not Unicode is that you should consider some adjustments to make on the Program "Z" to comply with the judgments Unicode Standard.
    In the past, developments in SAP using multiple systems to encode the characters of different alphabets. For example: ASCII, EBCDI, or double-byte code pages.
    These coding systems mostly use 1 byte per character, which can encode up to 256 characters. However, other alphabets such as Japanese or Chinese use a larger number of characters in their alphabets. That's why the system using double-byte code page, which uses 2 bytes per character.
    In order to unify the different alphabets, it was decided to implement a single coding system that uses 2 bytes per character regardless of what language is concerned. That system is called Unicode.
    Unicode is also the official way to implement ISO/IEC 10646 and is supported in many operating systems and all modern browsers.
    The way of verifying whether a program was adjusted or not, is through the execution of the UCCHECK transaction. Additionally, you can check by controlling syntax (making sure that this asset verification check Unicode).
    The main decisions to adjust / replace are (examples):
    ASSIGN H-SY-INDEX TEXT TO ASSIGN <F1> by
    H-SY-INDEX TEXT (*) TO <F1>.

  • Open dataset in UTF8. Problems between Unicode and non Unicode

    Hello,
    I am currently testing the file transfer between unicode an non unicode systems.
    I transfered some japanese KNA1 data from non unicode system (Mandt,Name1, Name2,City) to a file with this option:
    set local language pi_langu.
      open dataset pe_file in text mode encoding utf-8 for output with byte-order mark.
    Now I want to read the file from a unicode system. The code looks like this:
    open dataset file in text mode encoding utf-8 for input skipping byte-order mark.
    The characters look fine but they are shifted. name1 is correct but now parts of the city characters are in name2....
    If I open the file in a non unicode system with the same coding the data is ok again!
    Is there a problem with spaces between unicode an non-unicode?!

    Hello again,
    after implementing and testing this method, we saw that the conversion is always taken place in the unicode system.
    For examble: we have a char(35) field in mdmp with several japanese signs..as soon as we transfer the data into the file and have a look at it the binary data the field is only 28 chars long. several spaces are missing...now if we open the file in our unicode system using the mentioned class the size is gaining to 35 characters
    on the other hand if we export data from unicode system using this method the size is shrinking from 35 chars to 28 so the mdmp system can interprete the data.
    as soon as all systems are on unicode this method is obselete/wrong because we don't want to cut off/add the spaces..it's not needed anymore..
    the better way would be to create a "real" UTF-8 file in our MDMP system. The question is, is there a method to add somehow the missing spaces in the mdmp system?
    so it works something like thtat:
          OPEN DATASET p_file FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING UTF-8 WITH BYTE-ORDER MARK.
    "MDMP (with ECC 6.0 by the way)
    if charsize = 1.
    *add missing spaces to the structure
    *transfer strucutre to file
    *UNICODE
    else.
    *just transfer struc to file -> no conversion needed anymore
    endif.
    I thought mybe somehow this could work with the class CL_ABAP_CONV_OUT_CE. But until now I had no luck...
    Normally I would think that if I'am creating a UTF-8 file this work is done automatically on the transfer command
