In the SAP GUI we have Transactions that use transaction variants. For example we have ZBUP1A that is based upon BUP1. It uses a transaction variant to default certain important fields like "Grouping" "BP Type" etc. so BP are created correctly.
We are in the process of CRM 2007 upgrade from CRM 5.0 and plan to use CRM WebClient UI for all user transactions.
1. Can we put to use the same Transaction variants for the CRM WebClient UI without using the Transaction Launcher to call the GUI transactions (as SAP does-not recommend the use of SAP GUI Transactions except for
administrative related functions)? If so is it just configuration?
2. If we cannot use the Transaction variants for the CRM WebClient UI, is there a way to pass parameters to the standard transactions by making modifications to the logical links provided in the Navigation Bar? If so, please elaborate.

Approve/Post Journal works in 32-bit, but not the web Client?

We have HFM 4.01 sp2 and sometimes when a user tries to approve/post a journal in the HFM Web Client they receive a security error (even though they have the post role and ALL access to the Entity), then they login to the 32-bit client and they can approve/post the same journal? Why?

The user in question has all the security he needs. . . post journal role, ALL access to the scenario, entity, etc. or it wouldn't work in the 32-bit (windows) client either. I want to know why he received an error in the Web Client, but NOT the windows client?

Compiled Views not showing up in the Web Client

Hi everyone,
I'm new to Siebel Tools. I did a simple exercise of adding an existing view to an existing screen in Siebel Public Sector. I locked the project and added the view to the screen. I did a full compile afterwards (compiled all the objects).
I ran Siebel Web Client using the SRF file that was generated (from the compilation process) and I connected to our Server database. I went to user preferences to activate the view with my login user but I could not find the view anywhere.
The same thing happened when I created a new view and added it to an existing screen. I compiled and launched the web client. I went the Administration - Application > View to associate the view with a new responsibility but the view doesn't appear in view picklist.
To test my sanity. I copied the SRF file to another machine into the Siebel Tools/Objects/ENU folder and ran Siebel Tools. To my dismay, I couldn't see the views that I just created. I thought I compiled the views (in fact I compiled everything!). Turns out that everything I just created doesn't seem to make it to the SRF file.
Am I missing a step somewhere here? Any expert help would be valuable!

Hi,
The new view what you have created wont appear in the View Pick Applet. That doesnt means the view is not available in the compiled SRF. You can just copy the view name and create a new record in the View applet and paste the view name. The View name will get stored in the Administration - Views.
Then add the responsibility of the user you wish to appear the view for the users. Then drilldown on the added responsibility and do a "Clear Cache" there. Log out and login again to verify the view in the appropriate screen.

Systems are not available in the NWDS but in the Web-client

I'm at presnt using the VC 7.11 in the web client. For enlarging the default components by a couple of own one I'm trying to use VC in the NWDS. Now I'm facing the problem that the default systems (Busniess Objects, Portal Content, Portlet Applications, Services Registry, Visual Composer Model, Web Dynpro Application, Web Dynpro Component) are shown in the "Search" panel but not those which I have created e.g. our ERP system.
I have no clou what I'm doing wrong.

Ok, it seems I was finally able to answer my questions by my own. For a System in the NWDS you have to create the system once again under Window > Preferences > Destination Configurations > R/3 Configuration ([https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-102007?treeid=DOC-99669|https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-102007?treeid=DOC-99669])

What can be resolve the web client in visual studio

WebClient class is available for Silverlight (wp8/8.1) apps only. You might have created Windows Phone 8.1 Runtime app in which HttpClient class is there.

Siebel Charts gets generated but does not display in the Web client

Siebel Chart is getting generated in NetChart4.6\Server\root\projects\Siebel.chart folder. However does not display on the Web client
There is either no error displayed on the front end...
Also note that Charts is installed on Windows environment and Siebel Server is installed on Linux Server

Does this happens in dedicated client as well?
We would need to have traffic captured when you are actually executing actions. The tools like fiddler etc will help here to track the traffic.
I would suggest you open SR with MOS since it will need some analysis on network trace like fiddler. You can refer this thread in SR as well, so that once issue gets resolved thread will get updated with solution which will benefit others.

Integrated Planning: Planning Functions in the Web - Issues with Binding

We are on SPS 11 and are having some difficulties getting our Planning Functions to execute corerctly in the web templates.
I have created a simple planning function that performs a distribution.
The Planning Function works as expected using the plannning wizard and ristricts the data based on the Filter that I have created on the Aggregation Level as well as the Planning Function Selections.
I have created a query and web template that contains the same restriction as the filter in my aggregation level. The Agg Level filter / planning function and Query Filter all contain the Hierarchy Node Variable ZN_CC1 for the standard Cost Center Hierarchy.
I have created the following 4 Planning Buttons to test the execution of the Planning Function in the Web:
1. Planning Function Simple. Binding ref to the DP_1 (Query), Variable = Hierarchy Variable ZN_CC1, Planning Function ZDistrib1.
2. Planning Function Simple. Binding ref to the DP_1 (Query), Variable = Variable Input String Default ZN_CC1, Planning Function ZDistrib1.
3. Planning Function Simple. Binding ref to the DP_1 (Query), Variable = Hierarchy Variable ZN_CC1, Planning Function ZDistrib1. Display variable property selected.
4. Planning Function Simple. Binding ref to the DP_1 (Query), Cost Center Characteristic Data Provider Selection Default, Planning Function ZDistrib1.
When the query is executed and a node representing a group in the hierarchy is selected the query is executed and is input ready for the selected group. This is a subset of the hierarchy.
When the above planning fucntions are executed the following results display.
1. The planning function is executed however it is not restricted to the selection based on the hierarhcy variable node selected by the user. The planning function is executed for the entrire hierarchy. It is not restricted by the cost center hierarchy node variable value.
2. The planning function is executed however it is not restricted to the selection based on the hierarhcy variable node selected by the user. The planning function is executed for the entrire hierarchy. It is not restricted by the cost center hierarchy node variable value.
3. The variable popup displays and a hierarchy node is selected. HOWEVER,
If I goto to the filter web item and edit the cost center filter by selecting and adding all available cost centers to the filter. (This list of cost centers is restricted to the cost centers subordinate to the hierarhcy node selected in the variable)
When the above the planning functions are executed the function is now restricted to the cost centers added to the filter as explained above.
If anyone has had a similar issue with Planning Functions executing for data outside of the Dataprovider Selections I would be interested to know how you managed to get the planning function to retrict to the DP Selections that include hierarchy node variables.
If anyone from SAP can comment before I raise this as an OSS issue it would be much appreciated.

Enable the "calling WebIDL constructors as functions" on the web

Hi,
I am developing a web application using php and python. After updating the Firefox to the latest version 30.0, some functions on my app do not work anymore. I checked the change logs of Firefox and found out this change: "Disallow calling WebIDL constructors as functions on the web" caused the issue on my tool.
So how can I fix this on the browser side since I cannot change the codes immediately right now?
Also a suggestion: Please reverse this change on the next update of this browser since this will affect my users or else I have to greatly change the codes.

The main reason we are looking at Dev2000 on the web is to
implement downloads over our international intranet.
Does anybody know how this can be done using Webforms?
Any use of the text_io package writes to the server's disk.
Is there any equivalant to the text_io package in Webforms.

How to configure Goto context menu function on the web?

We are running a web template on IE browser. After the report run successfully, left click on any key figure column, we can see Goto context menu, from here, we can go to detailed report (e.g. from the current Cube level to more detailed ODS level). However we find this jump from cube level to ODS level (Goto context manu) works on our QA system other than DEV system.
These stuff were configured by SAP consultants who left our company one year ago, if anyone knows how to make the Goto context menu works by drilling down from cube level to ODS level, please let us know and we are really appreciated!

We figured out the problem, it is because we click Goto then select "Display Documents" which yields a 400 error, then go back to click Goto, pick up the target link we want and it yield the error. After we hit F5 to reload the URL link, then directly select Goto our target, then it works fine!
But one more question, under Goto context menu, we find four menu context items:
1. Display Documents
2. Documents for Navigation Status
3. Our application target1
4. Our application target2
Select option 1 yields an error like mentioned above.
Select option 2 pops up a new window with Key Figure selection box and a button called "Additional Functions", but seems go nowhere.
Option 3 is setup in our system by using RSBBS like you suggested.
Option 4 is not in RSBBS.
Then our questions are for option 1, 2, and 4. What are the functionalities of option 1 and 2, are these two standard web functionalities of BW web reports? and these two options always show up on the web no matter whether they work or not, right? We are confused with option 4, it's not listed in RSBBS, then how come it show up?

Performance Monitoring and the Web Client

I am a project manager managing a large infrastructure upgrade with a migration of existing VMs.
I want to understand how my current VM are performing and the tool I have is the vSphere Web Client 5.1.
I want to get more trending data on disk I/O and Network use.....I cannot get this data with this tool.
I do not have access to the host to run the command line tools. What can I do? I also do not want to buy VCOPs either.

Hi Guruva,
As explained in previous posts, there is no readymade web client available in MDM 5.5.
If you use MDME4J_Ver5.5.15.00, then you should build your own application using the MDME4J.jar file. This jar file consists of library classes and methods which can be used for connecting, retrieving and updating records etc to/from MDM repository. It is a java programmer's responsibility to use this jar file and build a custom web Client.
If you use MDM COM, it is a VB programmer's job to explore this COM API and build a custom web Client.
You can use any of the above APIs to build your web client based on your skillset.

Perfect Preview in Muse, non-functional on the web

I needed to have a video play automatically on a homepage, and found only an HTML5 command could accomplish this.
So, the snippet:

When replacing the "source.mp4" with the URL of the video, hosted on the given site, a box of the correct dimensions shows up in Muse, and useing Muse Preview, the clip plays fine. Perfect.
Next, when using Muse to post the site on the web, it does without error... sort of...
On the web, the page with the snippet is dead. Checking the existence of the file with an FTP utility, all is as it should be. Yet the video is claimed NOT to be present according to the browser. This means that Muse has changed the HTML snippet in its own special way to deny its use on the web.
At ALL times the correct URL was used to the video. No local file was used.
Next, I place a generic page up with a JPG and all was well.
THEN, I went back into Muse, and find that AFTER the upload to the site, the program itself has changed permissions and disallows the snippet to even be applied to a page, UNABLE to read the online content.
Perplexed, I uploaded a fresh copy of the video to one of my own sites, and checked for the file to play. It does in the browser. Valid URL. Substituting a known good URL for the video into the snippet of HTML in MUSE... Muse ITSELF cannot find the known good video file on my own site. It has been inoculated against this.
So, Muse, perhaps in deference to the Web axiom that autoplay videos should not be on a page (even ones under 2MB and 10 seconds in length, after allowing up to 1080p versions of a video early in the day (checked that too)) changed EVERYTHING about how the program works AFTER uploading a site.

Especially on GoDaddy that is almost always a caching issue with your browser. Try clearing your browser cache and close thebrowser and restart it. There isn't anything in Muse that causes this issue.

Error 43 when accessing LabVIEW 2009 write/read file functions through the web server functionality

Is there any way around to avoid Error 43, "Operation cancelled by user" when using Web server?
I am using the example VI:s RemotePanelMethods-Server.vi and RemotePanelMethods-Client.vi to acces the MainGUI.vi from my workstation to a lab computer. * LabVIEW 2009 is installed in both machines.
* MainGUI.vi is wired to the VI access list in the Server VI but it also contains a hierarchy below that isn't, is this a problem?
* Several functions in MainGUI calls file read and write operations
The problem ocurrs when file read/write operations with no preselected path are selected through the Client. The traditional popup window requesting the file to read or write is never seen in the Client, but only the Error 43.
