Transfer Gantt Chart View color's automatically to Team Planner View

Hi there.  My project has 7 different resources with various Resource Names ending characters.  I've automatically color coded the bars on my Gantt Chart based on resource allocation by using Flags 1-7, Custom Fields, and the formula IIf(Left([Resource
Names],3)="xxx",Yes,No).  I then change the format of each bar style to the color I desire.
I am looking for a way to automatically transfer the colors I have assigned the tasks in my Gantt Chart to the Team Planner view.  I don't believe there is a simple way to do this but would appreciate any help aside from manually formatting each of
the tasks in Team Planner view.
Thanks for the help!

Alas, there is no way to do what you want with the Team Planner view.  This is because there is no dialog similar to the Bar Styles dialog where you can control the formatting.  Basically, the Team Planner view has definitions for Manually Scheduled
tasks, Auto Scheduled tasks, Actual Work on tasks, External Tasks, and Late Tasks.  Using the corresponding buttons in the Styles section of the Format ribbon with the Team Planner Tools applied, you can control the fill color and the border color for
every bar of one of those types.  But there is no way to add other buttons to the ribbon to control the Gantt-like bars that are shown in the Team Planner view.  So, what you want to do with the Team Planner view is not possible.  Sorry.
Hope this helps.

  • Project 2013 freezes in Team planner view

    Hi,
    While right clicking and changing assignments in a Project file the Team planner freezes and Project must be restarted, this happens all the time and too frequent. The first thing that happens is that the large info box which is shown on right click together
    with the smaller one with percentage etc. dissapears. Then the changes can still be saved but Project can not be shut down in the normal way but must be closed by shutting down the process in the Task manager. Then it is just to open the file and
    continue as the Team planner works normal again until it freezes again. This has been so since the very beginning, but did not happen in the 2010 version. It only happens in the 2013 version which of course is the one we use as the reports in it are so great.
    Any ideas to get rid of this annoying problem?
    Kind regards //Anders

    Hi Ben,
    Thanks for looking into it. Perhaps it is something wrong with the installation or the PC that it runs on, have not thought of that before. Should try to copy the file to another computer and download a trial version to run it on and see if the problem is
    still there. Otherwise Snag it seems like a good idea. The time for project to stop working varies a lot, normally everything from 3- 10 minutes. There is one thing that normally seems to get project to stop working sooner and that is when switching between
    the Team planner and the Gantt view.
    The work sequence is like this:
    -Open the project file
    -Expand all tasks in the Gantt view
    -Switch to Team planner, begin to drag & drop tasks between resources
    -Mark a task in the Team planner view and switch to Gantt view to check how the project where the marked task is located underneath is following the plan.
    -Switch back to Team planner, continue to switch tasks between resources
    -Mark a task in the Team planner view and switch to Gantt view to check how the Project is following the plan, as above.
    After a number of switches between the views project normally just stops working completely. Memory usage normally goes up to 140 MB, not much but still an increase towards the normal. The above sequence is the quickest way of getting Project to stop working.
    Would be interesting to see if you would get any problems repeating the sequence. If that would work for you for 10 minutes there must be something wrong with either the project installation or with the computer.
    Thanks and kind regards  //Anders

  • A dynamic Team Planner View to concurrent users

    Hello, I currently have MS Project Professional 2010. Our business is looking into possibly upgrading our system but we need the team planner view in whatever we choose. We currently have hundreds of projects and thousands of tasks linked to resource pool.
    The team planner view is the easiest and fastest view for the business to identify what each person is doing on a particular day, who is helping them, who is working on their project, who is on vacation, etc. Issues we're having right now include:
    1) Project Professional freezes when multiple users try to access the team planner view at the same time. Even after downloading the hotfix package.
    2) We tried uploading some work to Sharepoint but Sharepoint doesn't like tasks with start-to-start predecessors or lag times which greater than 50% of our tasks have.
    3) The printable team planner view prints out hundreds of blank pages between sets of dates. I'm assuming they are "unassigned tasks" and there is no method of removing them. Resource names don't carry over to the second set of dates.
    Is team planner view available in Project Server or the PWA? We're trying to find a way to get this view to everyone. Allow multiple concurrent users to view it at the same time. And to have their view change simultaneously as I change it without having
    to upload or print a new team planner view every time I change something.
    Thanks for the help.

    Thanks for the reply Andrew. We explored using the Resource Assignment View but it had its own set of issues like:
    1) I can assign up to 40 tasks a week to one person, this creates quite a list for each person as the Resource Assignment View lists the tasks in the column under the person's name. A filtered list of one week still creates a long list, 40-50 pages long,
    for 30-40 resources.
    2) Our resources had a hard time finding who was helping them on certain tasks because of this gigantic list. Again, they are unable to access MS Project without freezing the document so they can't open the task and find out who's helping. Therefore, we
    like the condensed Team Planner view.
    I will explore the SSRS report option but from a little light reading, it appears as though this report doesn't automatically update every time I make a change to the schedule. Therefore, I need to manually create a new report everytime I make
    a change to the schedule?
    Thanks Again,
    Travis

  • Hiding non-working time in Team Planner View

    Hello there.  The tasks in my project are typically between 2-5 hours over a week period.  In Team Planner View, I'm hoping to provide a better representation of free time between tasks by making my bottom tier hours in a 4 hour count.  However,
    decreasing the scale forces the Task names become cut off when the event itself shrinks.
    I was hoping to remove the non-working time (i.e., nights and weekends) from the Team Planner view to enable a better view.  I'm aware that the capabilities of Team Planner View seem to be limited, but is this type of formatting at all possible?
    Thanks for the help,
    Joe

    Joe --
    After I created my response and posted it, I wondered whether you wanted to completely remove the nonworking time periods.  This is not possible.  The best you can do is to remove the shading for nonworking time periods, but you cannot remove them
    entirely in any view.  Hope this helps.

  • Problems in designing Gantt Charts through Web Dynpros

    Dear friends,
    We are having a situation in which we need to display the series of production orders in shop floor in a gantt chart having a specific start & end date and time.
    To implement this scenario, we are using Gantt Chart tool available in Web dynpro. In the gantt chart tool we are passing an XML file edited as per data to display production orders starting and ending at particular date and time.
    Now we are facing following problems to design this case.
    1. We are currently using type repository <TypeRepository href="apps/gantt/cprojects/TypeRepository.xml" version="1.0"> as a base type repository to define our XML file. This type repository we found in one of Gantt chart test examples. We believe if we are able to view this file we can know what types are available and how can we use their elements and attributes to define graph in XML file. Please help us how can we view this type repository.
    2. Currently we are viewing scale on Gantt chart only on date base. Can we view the scale at time base too? If yes, how?
    3. Currently we are manually editing our XML file to add up data that we want to display in our gantt charts. We would like to know what is standard procedure to edit XML file in a program. Additionally if you can tell us the functional modules or class-methods to edit XML file in program, this would be very helpful.
    Your kind help would be highly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Navin Guru

    About where to find file apps/gantt/cprojects/TypeRepository.xml.
    Maybe it's not the best way, but i had access to portal server files (access to /usr/sap directory on server where enterprise portal was installed). And i found it there by jnet search criteria.
    In my case it layed in the following place:
    \usr\sap\<SID>\J01\j2ee\cluster\apps\sap.com\tcwddispwda\servlet_jsp\webdynpro\resources\sap.com\tcwddispwda\root\global\activeComp\

  • Gantt chart- How to change the color of time bars of different versions

    Hi All,
    My Client wants to see all changes in planning schedule. I made different versions of these changes but he also want to see all these changes in gantt chart and in different colors. I tried to change the color in planning board assistant but in this screen (CJ27/ CJ2B). we cannot view all versions together. And if I use CN41, there I cannot change the colors of time bars.
    Secondly, we can change colors of times bars of basic dates, forecast dates and actual dates but there is no provision to change the colors of schedule bars of different project versions. Kindly reply-
    1. How to see all project versions in CJ27 or How to customise bar chart in cn41 or if we change in SPRO, then how to change graphic profile in project info profile
    2. How to change colors of different time bars of different versions.
    3. How to mention these legends (meaning of each color in chart) at footer of gantt chart (in print outs)
    Please Help.
    Thanks & Regards
    Dinesh Chauhan

    Thanks,
    actually I've created new project planning board profile where planning board assistant is customized but unable to use this profile in CN41. we can change PS info profile in CN41 and that;s why I thought that planning board profile may be assigned somewhere in PS info profile so that changes in planning board assistant will be applied in CN41 through PS info profile. Graphic profile is too complex to understand and not sure if it will help to get colored time bars of projct versions in gantt chart. Still not clear.
    Secondly not able to see all versions (snap shots) in gantt chart with different colors of time bars.
    I mean planning board screen can be customized but we cannt see different versions here which are possible in CN41, but we cannt customize the gantt chart (time bars) in CN41. Pls help.
    Thx & Regards

  • Customizing existing gantt chart view in project server 2013

    Hi,
    I want to customize existing gantt chart view in PWA to allow text labelling on task/milestone names,numberic dispaly of percentage complete,scroll to date functionality.
    Please let me know how can this be done?
    Regards,
    Sufiyan

    Hi Shaik Sufiyan,
    If you know a little java scripting skill, you can definitely do this. You can use IE developer tools to grab the appropriate js file which controls the font.
    Task color can be controlled from server settings -> Manage gantt view.

  • Colors in Gantt chart

    First of all, is there a 'general' description of the colors used for tasks in the graphic view in cProjects
    (eg. orange = date constraint, blue = no constraint, red = critical path, red background = ?).
    Secondly, where can they be changed?
    Thank you in advance,
    Pj

    Hi,
    The colors in the Gantt chart can be changed for MPMON functionaliy in cProjects.
    For example, the background color has been set in the classCL_DPR_UI_LOG_GANTT in the method GANTT_PARAMETERS
    in the following line :
    rs_gantt_para-backcolor_type    = 'White'.
    In order to change colors of bars etc., it can be done in the typerepository.xml file.
    The path for the repository file can be found in the same class where the value of the variable rs_gantt_para-typerepository_href is being set.

  • Gantt Chart View not listed in View Selector

    View Selector is missing view of type “Gantt” for List based on list template “171” i.e. “TasksWithTimelineAndHierarchy”
    Missing Gantt View
    Visible in Ribbon
    What we have done to create the Gantt view is as follows
    We are working with remote provisioning pattern to provision the site and required lists
    A Task List is provisioned using CSOM (Managed .Net) via a Provider Hosted App that is hosted as Azure Web Site
    We are creating a view based of type “Gantt”
    Sample ViewXml used for creating the view. Highlighted below is the property we have set for the same
    <View>
    <Title>Tasks_View_GanttChart</Title>
    <DefaultView>false</DefaultView>
    <PersonalView>false</PersonalView>
    <RowLimit>30</RowLimit>
    <Paged>true</Paged>
    <Scope>DefaultValue</Scope>
    <ViewType>Gantt</ViewType>
    </View>
    Standard View Menu (View Selector) does not show Custom Gantt chart (created via CSOM) in the menu list. Refer screenshot mentioned earlier
    Custom Gantt chart view is available in ribbon menu though
    The same custom Gantt chart is visible in the standard menu if we are in “out of the box Gantt chart View” (Below ‘OOTB Gant chart’ is created from front end using the template ‘Gantt chart view’)
    Sample Code used to create the view
    ViewCreationInformation viewInfo = new ViewCreationInformation()
    Title = listViewTemplate.Title,
            ViewFields = viewFields,
    SetAsDefaultView = isDefaultView,
    PersonalView = isPersonalView,
    Query = query.ToString(),
    RowLimit = rowLimit,
    Paged = paged,
    ViewTypeKind = viewType
    View view = list.Views.Add(viewInfo);
    web.Context.ExecuteQuery();
    Any clue on this behavior? We have the same issue with Calendar View Type as well for the Calendar List.

    I found solution:
    You need modify XsltListViewWebPart tool bar option from one value to another, and then back. That solves that bug in SharePoint.
    public static void FixGanttIssue(SPList list, string ViewName)
    SPSite site = list.ParentWeb.Site;
    SPLimitedWebPartManager AllItemsMan = site.RootWeb.GetFile(list.Views[ViewName].Url).GetLimitedWebPartManager(System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.PersonalizationScope.Shared);
    XsltListViewWebPart wp = (XsltListViewWebPart)AllItemsMan.WebParts[0];
    wp.Toolbar = "Summary Toolbar";
    AllItemsMan.SaveChanges(wp);
    wp.Toolbar = "Full Toolbar";
    AllItemsMan.SaveChanges(wp);

  • There is a view named &gantt chart in this project which cannot be overwritten

    Hello,
    I'm using Project Server 2007 SP2. While opening a plan, we are getting the following error
    "There is a view named &gantt chart in this project which cannot be overwritten"
    However, we are not getting the same error for other plan. Is there any changes to be done in the enterprise Global? How to rectify the error? Kindly help.
    Thanks!

    Sandhya987 --
    In addition to Guillaume's excellent answer, you should know that this problem was not caused by the project manager.  The problem was caused solely by the actions of the Project Server administrator.  The Enterprise Global file is reserved for
    ONLY enterprise views, tables, filters, and groups.  For example, there is a default enterprise view named Enterprise Gantt Chart and there is a default enterprise table named Enterprise Entry.  The Project Server administrator should NEVER add local
    views to the Enterprise Global, such as the Gantt Chart, Resource Sheet, etc.
    So, how did the Gantt Chart view end up in the Enterprise Global?  I doubt the Project Server administrator did this intentionally.  Instead, my guess is that he/she applied the regular Gantt Chart view while he/she had the Enterprise Global file
    open for editing.  If the Project Server administrator applies any local view (such as the Gantt Chart view) while he/she has the Enterprise Global file open for editing, Microsoft Project COPIES that view and its default table into the Enterprise Global
    file.  So, if he/she applies the Gantt Chart view while he/she has the Enterprise Global file open, Microsoft Project copies BOTH the Gantt Chart view AND the Entry table into the Enterprise Global file, thus polluting the Enterprise Global file with
    a local view and table.
    To clean up the pollution, keep in mind that your Project Server administrator will need to delete all local view AND all local tables as well.  As the article indicates, as cited by Guillaume, the problem you are facing is a common one, so welcome
    to the club!  :)
    Hope this extra helps.

  • How to create new view without interlinking with gantt chart or resource views

    ok clear
    one another question
       In msp how to create new view without interlinking with gantt chart or resource views

    Hi Shiv PMC--
    I splitted your question above in another thread in order not to have  a huge thread with many topics in it.
    That being said, I'm not sure to understand. A view is just a manner to display MS Project data with columns. A view can have a table with column (left part) associated with a Gantt chart. It can also just contain a table with no Gantt chart (like the task
    table) or a table with a timephased grid (resource and task usage).
    Please give us more information, maybe with a concrete example so we can help you.

  • Sort Resource Names in Gantt Chart view

    Hi,
    In Gantt Chart view I'm displaying resource names to the right of task bars but the order seems to be random by task. Is there any way to re-order or define an order for resource name in the Gantt Chart view.
    The defualt order seems to be the order in which they were assigned.

    Hi Pete,
    To the  best of my knowledge, no.  You can sort and renumber resources but it does not change the order.  You are correct, they show in assignment order.

  • Gantt Chart View for Multiple Projects

    Hello all;
    Is there any way to see a complete Gannt view which refers to multiple project. means I' d like to select more than 2 project at the same time and look those Gantt view in order to realize what is going on for all projects.. ?

    Good one Ahmed
    Thanks
    In my opinion however - if you were managing more than one project than Gantt Chart is not the relevant tool for monitoting - you need a dash board - Gantt chart really is useful for getting details of a project. If you see Gantt chart for more than one project then you will need a wall size screen

  • Gantt chart view

    Hello
    Im new to project coming from a Primavera background, still trying to get used to the features. So this isnt really a problem just annoying really. When i open projects the gantt chart date always shows 2013 so i have to drag it along i thought maybe i could
    reset the date so the status date always shows instead. Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance :)

    Kathhee,
    The view will open as you left it.  As an alternative you can press Scroll to Task (CTRL-SHIFT-F5) and it will display the Gantt chart as per the focused task.

    HELP! I'm new to using MS Project web and I accidently changed a setting that removed my Gantt chart view. How do I recover it?

    Hi,
    Can you be more explicit? Which setting did you change in your Gantt chart (security setting, filter, columns)? Changing a "setting" of a PWA view should not delete the view.
