Transfer .pages documents to iPad

I'm waiting for the 3G model, but I figure owners of the WiFi only model could help answer my questions...
I know the iPad doesn't have a USB port (why Apple, why?!), but I have some .pages files on my mac and duplicate copies on a USB, and if I could just transfer them to the iPad, I could truly toss the macbook and just use the iPad for all my computing needs (because I only have really basic computing needs that don't include a camera, multitasking, etc...).
So, how would I do that (the transferring of documents), and what is the saving system like on the iPad? Is there like a "Documents" folder where I can store .pages and PDF documents on the iPad?
Thanks for your help.
Oh, and not that I'd need it, but do you think the iPad will ever run Mac OS X in the future? Or they'll release a touchscreen mac w/ no keyboard? Like I said, I wouldn't need it, but if it had a USB port, I would end up getting it, so I'm just wondering.

  • Transfer pages document from iPad to iPhone

I just bought an ipad 2, WiFi only edition. Shortly I will embark on a trip to relatively the middle of nowhere, where I do have Edge (maybe 3G) but no WiFi (and no PC/Mac). I would like to be able to create simple documents in Pages on the iPad, and subsequently transfer that to my iPhone, so I can email this using 2-3G. Would this possible with an accessory, or even bluetooth, with or without a 3rd party app?
    Thanks for any help.

You didn't say what model phone you have, but if you have the availability of the hotspot on your phone, you may want to turn it on for the trip and then drop it when you return home. Other than that, finding a restaurant, coffee shop etc with wifi is the way to get it done. I can't think of a third party app that will do what you want.....

  • Pages 2.0.2 doesn't open Pages documents from ipad

Pages 2.0.2 doesn't open Pages documents from ipad 2. Document succesfully transferred as Pages document to computer, but Pages 2.0,2 wouldn;t open it. Version too old?

Pages 2 is iWork '06, two versions behind what the iOS Pages creates. You need to use Pages '09 which you can purchase from the Mac App Store as a stand-alone application or a retail box of the iWork '09 suite.

  • I need to transfer Pages documents to new computer.

How do I transfer  Pages documents to new computer?

Be more precise: is it is new mac, and want to transfer data? is it another PC running Windows/Linux of someone else or yours?
Note that Pages format is not recognized on other platforms, you must first export it is a rtf or doc or PDF format. If a mac-to-mac transfer, you may copy Pages files just like any other format. You may connect the two macs or mac and pc via wilreless network or via an ethernet cable or, if both macs, via firewire cable, if both have one (not always) or you may use an external drive as an intermediate support for migrating.
If you more precise in offering details about what you need, perhaps we may be more useful. It is also important to know what size? if you have, say, 1 GB of files, a wl connections would suffice, if many GBs, perhaps a wired connection is better, it will be faster. All details are important.

  • Copying Pages documents to ipad mini

Copying Pages documents to an ipad mini ~
An internet search gave a support.apple.com link to "Pages for iOS (iPad).  Step 1. was "Open the document . . . . then tap [spanner/wrench icon].  I did that.  Step 2. is "Tap "Share and Print . . . ".  There is no such option in the menu which appears after Step 1.

If you want to copy the document from your computer to the iPad Mini, while you are in the thumbnail view of Pages on the iPad, tap the + sign to create new document (in the upper left corner) and then select "Copy from iTunes". Choose the document from the resulting window that pops up.
The information that you read is for sending a document from the iPad to your computer. It is old information from an earlier version of Pages anyway. In the latest version of Pages, you tap the Share icon in the upper right corner of the open document and select "Send a Copy".

  • Drag and drop Contact from Address Book to Pages Document on iPad

On OS X MacBook and iMac I can use Drag and drop Contact functionality from Address Book directly on a Pages document. In Pages I have setup Merge fields to merge values from my Contacts. This works great!
I would also like to use this in Pages on my iPad mini. I know Pages on iOS are different from Pages for OS X, but I wonder if there is any possibility for me to open OS X created Pages document with Merge fields on iPad's Pages and replace existing Contacts values with new one from Address Book?
It seems like Pages on iOS even don't recognise Merge fields that I have created on OS X at all.

Are you dragging directly from one application and dropping into the other? What happens if you export to vcf card then import the vcf card with the other application?

  • Cannot open, share or download Pages document from iPad or iCloud

    Hi,
My girlfriend's sister is having some trouble where one specific pages document will not open and we cannot do anything with it (i.e. open, save as PDF, email as word file etc).
In iCloud you get the error "You need a newer version of pages to open this document".
On the iPad, error is "Document can't be opened".
She has pages version 1.7.2 on the iPad which is the latest version in the Apple Store.
I managed to get a pages file (or package) onto my PC to have a look at it and it is in the form of a folder called "name.pages-tef" and inside are the following:
If I open Index.db with notepad I can see her notes but they're surrounded by copious amounts of nonsensical code. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

The following link gets into the real details of the different file formats for Pages documents (there are three versions).  The "-tef" file format is specifically for iOS and is translated to a mac format when using the file on a mac.  One question is how was the file created?  On a mac or on the ipad?
At any rate, around half way through the article is the beginning discussion of the -tef format.  This may explain some of your issues.

  • Import pages document into iPad

OK, how do you now get a pages document off your Mac and onto an iPad? It appears that this function had been removed. Latest iTunes and Pages for both Mac and iPad. Thanks.

You can use File Sharing to import (Add File) files from computer to iPad.

  • IMac Pages document to iPad Pages app

How can I copy a Pages file on the iMac to the Pages app on the new iPad?

You can email the file and then use the Open In option from the mail app. You can use iCloud if you have it set on on the iPad. If you running at least 10.5.8 on your Mac you can use iOS file sharing with iTunes.
Read this for information on file sharing.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4094
if you are using iCloud on the iPad, you can just launch Safari on the Mac, log into iCloud.com, click on the iWorks icon, click on Pages at the top and then drag the file into the browser window. It will then be available in Pages on the iPad.

  • Transfer Pages app from iPad to iPad

    Can this be done?
I currently have an iPad WiFi only ........ with Pages. Will upgrade to WiFi+4g but not without pages? Help?

Not sure what you are trying to do here.
Pages is an app.  You need to download if from the app store if you have an older device.
If you are managing a lot of ipads, you can use an MDM.
Use VPP.  Select an MDM.  Read the Google doc below and nsdjoey write up.

  • Transfer personal documents from ipad kindle to pc

I have to turn in my ipad for service and have several ebooks and documents that I opened directly in my Kindle on the ipad. These are not in the cloud through Amazon and do not appear to be stored anywhere else. I don't believe these would be restored on a new ipad. Is there a way to save them?

Thank you for replying so quickly! Unfortunately, the documents were not purchased or transferred through Amazon, so they cannot be stored in the Amazon cloud.
Actually, I beleive they can. However, you may not be able to upload them directly from the app (I beleive they can be loaded via the website, by email, or using an App on the PC), so that may not be practical. It would make downloading much easier, however.
