Transferring images from Photoshop to Imageready (color problem)

Hi,
I've noticed that when I place one of my Photoshop images in Imageready (to create a new web page), the color is different when the image is in Imageready. It seems to lose vivrancy and saturation. The photos are of my artwork, so I really care about the color being correct.
Does anyone know what I could do to help this problem, or if I have a preference wrong or something?
Thanks,
Allan

the short answer:
calibrate/profile your monitor to 2.2 gamma, d65/6500
convert to sRGB before going to ImageReady (or Save for Web)

  • Color change when transferring image from Photoshop to After Effects

    Hi everyone,
I am trying to import a logo from photoshop CS6 to After Effects CS6, however the black color within the image changes to a dark grey when it gets into AE. I noticed on the color picker in PS that it changes to the same grey color that is used as the replacement web safe color. Therefore I'm assuming AE is just converting everything into web safe colors.
Is there something I need to change in AE to allow me to import the image and keep all the original non web safe photoshop colors?
Sorry if this is a very basic question thats been answered before, I couldn't seem to find the answer within these forums.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Spencer

This has nothing to do with web safe. You are making a mess of color management/ color profiles. You have soemthing enabled in PS and since AE by default doesn't use any color managemnt and just assumes plain sRGB, the colors change. There's no easy explanations here, but you have soem reading up to do about color management in general and also specifically how Photoshop corrects for monitor profiles and how to use the Proof Preview to compensate for that or how to establish a workflwo that mimicsa AE's "unmanaged" colorspace.

  • Switching image from Photoshop to ImageReady, CS1

I am making a website of my art, and after I edit it in Photoshop, I then switch to Imageready and add the image to a webpage. However, the quality goes way down every time, and it's frustrating. The color becomes muted, and the artwork becomes grainier. I'm not doing anything like enlarging the image beforehand, either. I can look at two windows, one in Photoshop, and one in ImageReady of the exact same image, and the quality difference is huge.
Could someone help, please, if it's possible to do anything?
    Thank you,
    Allan

because it writes in a 1.8 gamma correction, which some applications honor and some do not, so you have no way to predict how the image will display in various applications.
CS2 (and earlier) Save for Web does the same.
CS3 SFW does not write the unwanted gamma chunk.

  • Problem: importing a transparent image from Photoshop to Premiere.

    Dear Adobe community,
I am trying to import a transparent image from Photoshop to Premiere Pro CC. Whatever file format I choose to export from Photoshop, Premiere Pro CC will not import the file correctly. When I import is, two things occur: 1) the image gets imported, but the white background is still there or 2) the image gets an error "The importer reported a generic error".
Does anyone have an idea how I can get an image with a white background transparent into Premiere Pro CC.
    Specs:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, eind 2013)
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    16GB RAM
    1536MB Intel Iris videocard
    Thanks!

You need to make sure the image has an alpha channel.
Images like jpeg dont have an alpha channel.
Psd or png do and the image has to be RGB.
Make sure the background in PS is also transparant.

  • Printing banner images from photoshop CS3

Hi, I have successfully printed banners 1200mm x 297mm from my Xerox Phaser 7750 and Illustrator (Vector art). When I try to print a photographic image from Photoshop it all prints fine except the last 300mm or so. The image has white bars and properly printed image evenly spaced from top to bottom of the print. I have reduced the resolution and file size but the problem is still there with wider bars the lower the resolution. The original image was 160mb but I have the same issue with a 20mb image. ALso tried placing in Illustrator but get similar problems.
I assume this is a memory issue but I thought lowering the file size drastically would fix it, yet it doesn't. The Printer has a relatively low amount of memory (384mb) but I would like to know if this is the real cause before I dive and buy more memory - big chips are still expensive on this.
Any help would be very welcome.
    Thanks. Ant

Hi, I will try printing from inDesign but I have managed to get an image to print out by changing the quality in the print driver to standard - it was previously on 'Enhanced' or 'Photo'. I had tried from Illustrator and had similar problems (printed OK with Illy created art though) so thought it may be a printer memory issue which does seem to be the case. I assumed that by reducing the file size/resolution it would print but it seemed to be the image quality that uses more computing power than the pixel count of the file. I guess a different RIP may also help as it could use the much higher RAM of the Mac rather than the printers meagre 384mb.
I had originally thought it may be a P/Shop issue as I had problems printing to Epson inkjet some months ago and then Epson and Adobe seemed to blame each other!
    Thanks for the reply.

  • What settings are best to export sharpened images from Photoshop to use in Final Cut?

I need to give a professional photographer the correct dimensions to export her images from Photoshop for me to use in Final Cut. I told her:
1080 x 1920, 300 dpi, and also to Convert Images to Apple RGB (Final Cut doesnt work well with Adobe RGB, I am told). Her images have alot of heavy sharpening on them--she is an artist--and when i import them into Final Cut, many of the lines that should be crisp are zig-zagged, and if I apply motion to them, they "shake."
My problem is specific to images that have been highly sharpened in Photoshop; i have imported lots of professional images before with no problem. I am on deadline and hope someone out there will see this.

You were right about trashing the finalcut plist. As well as a very specific set of directions I now have put together from what you and others have said elsewhere, and this is it, i hope it helps others with their Canon XHA1 and Final Cut Express HD:
Trash the final cut preferences (plist) in your Home - LIbrary.
go into the Canon XHA1 menu, make sure that you're not set to down-convert to DV.
Get out of the menu. Shut the camera off,
plug in the firewire cable to both the camera and computer,
and turn the camera back to VCR mode.
Open up Final Cut, and go to Easy Setup ,
choose HDV- Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60
This worked beautifully but took me nearly four hours to figure out, including researching the web and experimenting in FCE HD

    Assuming Windows...
You can, assuming you select around the pixels you want to copy, and the selected region isn't too large.
There are a variety of ways you can get the copy operation wrong, e.g., by not having the proper layer selected or similar.
And there's a secret setting to enable Photoshop to export its clipboard no matter how large the selected pixel set is.  Note the setting I have bolded below.  Keep in mind that by making this setting you may be subjecting all the software on your computer that registers to receive clipboard data to datasets that are larger than it might expect.  In other words, there could be a downside.  That being said, I haven't had any problems on my Windows 8 system.

  • Exporting text as an image from Photoshop

I am using a non web safe font and so I am exporting the body of text as an image from Photoshop. Canvas size 900 x 600 pix 72 dpi.  However when viewing in the web browser the text looks soft and pixelated.
Does anybody know how I can solve this?   All I want is sharp lookinh text!

    Hi Vikas
I export files from Photoshop as png's at 72 dpi.
Here is our current holding page.  http://www.iheartmylife.co.uk/ All the text on this page has been loaded in as png's from Photoshop along with the image. As you can see none of it is as sharp as it could be.
    Many thanks for your assistance.

  • How to insert cropped images from photoshop without the white background

Basically all I want to do is take a peice of writing from a video and insert it into another video. To do this I've took a screenshot of the font from the video and imported it into photoshop. I've then cropped/cut/took the the peice of writing I want, letter by letter. I want to be able to insert it into another video, but whenever I attempt to do it, I have the default white background of photoshop. Is there anyway to insert an image from photoshop, without taking the background with it, or even insert a layer from photoshop straight into final cut pro? Sorry if this is confusing.

I don't think so. I cropped the letters, put them each an individual file, removed the background, saved them as a TIF then tried to import them onto Final Cut Pro, but a white background still appeared in the TIF file. Basically I just want to make the background transparent I believe.

Ask in the PSE/ PS forums. The simple answer is, though, that unless they are emebedded in the image or exist as sidecar XMP files PS won't use them. It doesn't look inside the PSE catalog files/ database.

... which means you have to use the menu /file/write metadata to files so that the tags and ratings are written in the files or sidecar files themselves.

  • Taking images from Photoshop and taking them to Dreamweaver

Why is it that when i take my images from photoshop and save them for the web, that when i open them in my dreamweaver html file they have lost quality and saturation in the image?

There are 2 ways to do it correctly one is better then the other. The best way to bring an image into
DW is to first create a layer based sliced and the copy & paste it direc
tly into DW. When you do that you will get a Image optimize window, this is a built-in Firework image
optimizer it does a much better job a maintaing quality will compressing image size. The second optioin is to use the save to web feature. Tehy work the same DW/FW does it better. If your image quality still is not what you want play around with your optimization settings without seeein the image I can't recommend the best setting but play around in your 2up/4up window.

Make sure the images are RGB 8-bit and in a format that carries an alpha channel or Photoshop transparency like Photoshop, TIFF, PNG, even PICT.

  • Building a site out of sliced images from photoshop

I've just begun a web design class and i assume that the instructor has us building sites this way cuz pretty much none of us have any idea how to use CSS (pretty much everyone in the class is brand new to web design, myself included).  So i'm pretty much trying to build the entire thing/layout with a 945 pixel wide table (height to be 625 when everythings in place).
It isn't working though, once i start splitting and merging stuff gets really messed up, like the measurements of cells appear to almost randomly change and when i try to change them back it like, wont work.
i seriously dont know why this isnt working, google search has answered this question not at all.  i just dont think i dont know how to use tables, which i need to do in order to complete his assignments.
    plz halp meh T.T

Building a site out of sliced images from Photoshop is a poor way for your instructor to begin your web design/Dreamweaver learning.
Site layouts built this way are fragile and inflexible.
Once you start splitting and merging cells and moving cell borders around, you open a world of debugging and troubleshooting.
Much better to learn some elementary HTML and CSS first then learn Dreamweaver in a weekend. Dreamweaver makes so much more sense when you do.
As it is, you're trying to learn Dreamweaver, HTML (and a little CSS) simultaneously on the fly. Really inefficient way to do it.
Tables in web design are elastic by nature i.e. they collapse to fit snug against the content inside them.
Since you're already on this journey, remove your cell dimensions entirely and see what happens.
