Transferring music from OS X iPod to Windows XP

Hi all,
I received an iPod nano, and a MacBook Pro for Christmas. I can't figure out how to transfer my music from the OSX formatted ipod to my computer at work, which is Windows XP.
Everytime I try something it says "You need to format the drive before use".
I don't want to lose all my music so is there anyway I can transfer the music to my work computer?

See if install this 3rd party software on your PC at works helps

  • Transferring music from Mac formatted Ipod to Windows Vista laptop

The hard-drive on my Mac laptop recently gave up on me. Unfortunately I haven't managed to transfer all my music to my time capsule and Apple TV. I've lost about 4,000 - 5,000 songs. I've read various articles and tried a few software applications, unfortunately none have work successfully for me.
I know there are some third party software applications that can sort this out but I was wondering is there any free applications or a manual way I can do it?
Thanks in advance for the advice!

There are several different ways to read HFS+ volumes on a pc. I used to have one but it was for reading .dmg on pc. I did find a program called HFSExplorer that might help you. If you can, I would transfer the music you have to your internal HDD on your Mac using a program like Senuti and then putting it on the iPods HDD using disk mode, then you should be able to read them on the pc usaing the aforementioned program.
    HFSExplorer:

    Senuti:

Senuti has a 30-day/1000 song trial. I'm not sure about the HFSExplorer.
    I hope this helps some!

  • Problem arose when transfered music from desktop to ipod to new laptop

Please can someone help with my itunes library, this all began when i purchased a new lap top and transfered music files onto my ipod from my old computer(which i have done before and had great succsess). Now the problem began when i synced my ipod to new computer when certain files doubled and some did not. This happened with certain copied and original c.d's but not others ???

So what i have now is some duplicate albums and 4442 songs when there should be about 3100, how do i rid myself of these duplicates without doing it manually.
My computer knowledge is somewhat limited so please could i have a response in laymans terms thanx.
Also i can not seem to find my itunes folder which contains 20gb of stuff on my computer only a small portion of it is visible, and another thing as i have lost my old itunes file i suppose i have lost my playlists for good ?

  • Transferring music from itunes to ipod

Trouble transfering music from itunes to my iopd. have updated ipod but still having trouble.

OK so first thing is, is the iPod set for manual or auto updating? If you are using iTunes 7, click on the iPod icon in iTunes and check the settings. For earlier versions go to iTunes preferences and pick the iPod. Typically you have three choices, Auto Updating, Auto Updating of selected playlists only, and finally Manual updating.
And to clear up your confusion, yes, you can always import your own CDs and put that music on your iPod without restriction.

  • Transferring music from walkman to ipod

As my sister has a walkman and I would like to transfer some music into my ipod, but as the file is different, i cannot physically put the music onto itunes..
Could anyone help me how to put music from walkman to ipod ?

How are the Walkman music files different? Not MP3's - are in some closed/proprietary Sony music format?
The only way you can do this is by getting the music from the Walkman into your iTunes library. Certainly Sony has a technical support website for a Walkman, or try a Google search.

  • Transfering music from an old ipod to new computer

I have the guide that was provided on the site on how to transfer music from an older iPod that contains the high capacity drive. My only problem is that I dont have the old computer that is synced to this ipod.
basically I found this old ipod of mine from 4 years ago and it has a bunch of my old music on it. My old computer crashed and will no longer turn on so we got rid of it and bought a new one. My wife and I since then have both bought the new iphones and have created a whole new itunes libary. I figured all of these old songs were lost until last night when i found this ipod with all the music still on it. I want to put it on my new computer but when I plug it in and open itunes it say's it will erase my old songs and replace with my new ones.
Can I transfer this music any way onto my new computer?

Either buy a 3rd-party ipod manager program, start your research here on page 3

Or go back to page 1 of the iLounge article and do it the hard way.

  • Transferring music from cd to ipod mini via winamp

every time i try to put music from cds to my ipod using winamp it doesn't work. my ipod says the file is there, but there's nothing to play. what do i do??? the obvious choice would be get windows 2000 or higher and itunes...but that's not an option for me. any helpful hints?

There are other programs to put songs on your iPod, but only in disk mode. Also, I don't even think iPod updater will run on anything but mac, windows 2000 or XP.
If you're thinking of going with a mac...switch to the mac mini,,,,great starter machine

  • Transferring music from older model ipod to new ipod.

I have a 3rd generation ipodMB245LL on pc and I am not able to upload songs from this ipod into my itunes in an effort to transfer them to my new nano MP690LL. Why wont Itunes allow me to do this especially if I own both the ipods and the itunes?
I am able to downlod songs from itunes to the new ipod. Itunes also recognizes the old ipod but will not let me "drag" songs into the library from the old ipod eventhough the itunes and ipods are registered under the same name.
    Please help.

Syncing music is a one way street with the iPod and that is from iTunes to the iPod and NOT the other way around. The only exception to this rule is with iTunes purchases. You can transfer them back to iTunes by plugging the iPod and choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.
Otherwise, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Transfering music from itunes to ipod touch

I bought my ipod touch about 8 months ago and I used to transfer music without creating an itunes library and every thing worked OK.  I updated my itunes and ipod software about a month ago and I have had nothing but problems.   I now use an itunes library and transfer my music from it to my ipod.   I just recently updated to the latest software and firmware and now I can't move any music from the library to the ipod.  I drag the song from the library to my device and let it go and it flashes a couple of times and that is it, nothing else.  Does anyone know what is going on?  Help!

There is a problem with itunes or maybe ios7. Most user can's transfer their music on any ios devices.
I have unistalled itunes and reinstalled it with no luck. As usual..... apple will wake up and fix this issue.
It sounds weird but every time apple releases new major upgrades there is always a BUG that ****** off users like you and I. But there is always a fix at the corner.

    Hello spk15,
The only suggestion I have to offer is to take a look at this Apple support document if you haven't done so yet.

  • Transferring music from Ipad or Ipod

I installed  a new operating system,Windows 7, on my computer.
Itunes  now sees the computer as a new device and says “The Ipod is synced with another Itunes library.  An Ipod can be synched with only one Itunes library at a time.” Choices offered include “Transfer Purchases,” but not all songs in the library were purchased. Some are from CDs purchased outside Itunes.  Second choice is “Erase and sync” but the new Itunes library is empty.  We want it to recognize that this is the old computer and to download all our music.  Please advise.

Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.

  • Transfering music from either my ipod or from old itunes to new computer

i just got a new MacBook Pro with itunes i would like to get my songs from my old itunes on my other computer to this one but i dont think there is any easy way to do it. if that doesnt work i would like to get my music off my ipod to my new itunes

This doesn't appear to be an option anymore.
I can check songs but there's no transfer button -
Syncing doesn't transfer songs in that direction -
You can add to a playlist but the song still isn't there.

  • Transferring music from my old iPod

    Hello
I have a really old iPod (first generation) and a newer one (the one right before the iPhone) and my Power Mac is setup/integrated with the new one but i have a buncha music on my first one that i wanna import...is it possible? is there anything i can do to authenticate it...they're both my own iPods...the old iPod was setup/integrated with my old iBook which died a few months back...
    thanks
    amir

You can connect as many iPod as you want to one Mac (and its iTunes library). I regularly have three connected at the same time. There is no "authentication" between Mac and iPod. The authorization is between your computer and your iTunes Store account, if you have songs and other media that you purchased from the iTunes Store and you want to play them on your iPod. But the iPods do not need to be authorized with the iTunes Store account; they just need to be sync to a computer that is authorized (to play DRM'ed songs).
To transfer from iPod to Mac, try Senuti
