"Transform Again" no longer scales...
Hello all,
In Illustrator CC 2014 the ability to use "transform again" (or Ctrl+D) when scaling objects no longer functions as it always has for years. It seems now the only "transform again" does is duplicate an object. It no longer works for scaling, moving or stretching an object (as in, to repeat the last function) - only to duplicate the selected object. I used the shortcut daily and often so I noticed it right away. I've searched Google and the Adobe forums, but I didn't see anyone mention this.
Has this functionality been moved to some other command? I can't seem to find a new setting for it or a way to restore the functionality to the "transform again" command.
Any help is appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Create a rectangle using the "Rectangle" tool > Scale (or Rotate) > Ctrl-D (or Object>Transform>Transform Again) > ---- Object Fails to Scale and "translates" or moves across the art board ---
Create a rounded rectangle using the "Rounded Rectangle Tool" tool > Scale (or Rotate) > Ctrl-D (or Object>Transform>Transform Again) > ---- Object Fails to Scale and "translates" or moves across the art board ---
If you start with any other basic object creation tool beside rectangle or rounded rectangle, "Transform Again" functions as intended (even on newly created rectangles).
Create a polygon (with any number of sides - I chose four) using the "Polygon" tool > Scale (or Rotate) > Ctrl-D (or Object>Transform>Transform Again) > --- SUCCESS --- Object scales toward center of previous transformation, as expected
Create an ellipse using the "Ellipse" tool > Scale (or Rotate) > Ctrl-D (or Object>Transform>Transform Again) > --- SUCCESS --- Object scales toward center of previous transformation, as expected
Create a star using the "Star" tool > Scale (or Rotate) > Ctrl-D (or Object>Transform>Transform Again) > --- SUCCESS --- Object scales toward center of previous transformation, as expected

I've also discovered that if you open a drawing made in a previous version of illustrator, the functionality returns and works correctly on any pre-existing rectangle in that document (in Illustrator CC 2014). Newly created rectangles will fail.

Illustrator CC won't scale with "transform again"
Coming from CS6, this is a feature I used all the time. However when I scale an object in CC and use transform again (Ctrl + D) to repeat the transformation on another object, it ignores the scaling and just repeats the most recent translation ie. it just moves the object rather than resizing it.

Unless it has changed (you may have a look at the Object>Transform first option), it may be time for the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Im using "transform again" after scaling. It scales but center point moves, why?
I have a bunch of stuff i need to enlarge 200%. I selected one and scaled it. I selected the second one and did CTRL+D for "transform again". It works but it moves it to the side, seems like its centerpoint is where the first object is that i scaled. I dont want this! I want it to scale in the center for each one I do. How do I tell it to do this?
...but i have to group everything before transforming...

Why is the rotate point moving when using Transform Again on a triangle?
I am trying to create a pattern that I have created in previous itterations of Illustrator. In CC when I create a triangle (either via Star, Poly, or Pen tool) and then try to rotate it via Transform Each > Transform again, the rotation point moves according to what the bounding box would be if I reset it, rather than staying in one (original) spot relative to the actual bounding box and triangle. I cannot find any settings that would be affecting the rotate point in this way. I am pretty confident that I am using the same procedure now that I did in older versions of Illustrator. Perhaps I am using the wrong procedure.
Naturally, if you are rotating something around its center you should expect that it would end up create a circular pattern. It is more of a square with concave sides. The red is a perfect circle that I grouped to the triangle to demonstrate the rotate points movement. It is located in the exact center according to the align tools.With the rotate tool, option click to set you point of rotation.
You also may want to look into the transform effect, theres is a box with 9 points for your anchor points you can try. You can also add an object filled with none, group this with your object, and transform the group, to get offset results with the transform effect. -
Transform Again Gives Inconsistent Results
When building albums, I place a number of pictures on a page; these pictures are generally the same size. So I bring the first image into a template and then Free Transform (Ctl+T) it to, say 4 X 6." Then I bring in others, do a Transform Again (Shift+Ctl+T). 60-70% of the time I will get 4 X 6" images but in 30-40% of the time, I get some other dimension either bigger of smaller than 4 X 6." I then cancel the errant transform (Ctl+Z) and do a new Free Transform and get a correct 4 X 6." This erratic behavior of Transform Again really slows down my work flow. I'm wondering if it is something that I am doing to a file in Camera Raw (like cropping or straightening) before bringing it into Photoshop that is creating this problem???
Here is my workflow.
1. I open a blank template that is 20 X 30.'
2. I then open 8 images.
3. I drag the first image into the template and then free transform to a
size that I like, say 4 X 6."
4. I then drag a second image into the template and apply free transform
again (ShiftCtlT).
5. I drag 9 more images into the template and one-by-one FT them to 4 X
6." Except, they do not all end up 4 X 6"even though I use the Free
Transfrom again command.
Sometimes the second image is transformed to 4 X 6," other times to some
other size. -
Hey there,
lately I'm using After effects CC 2014. Now I had to make the experience, after optimizing (collapse transformation) the pre comp, the global property transparency is no longer working.
I can make keyframes but the pre comp acts like my easy ease keyframes are hold keyframes. Btw if the collapse transformation button is unchecked it works fine but than i don't have the optimization features. It's a catch 22. Sure, I can go into my pre comp and set the keyframes there, but this is pretty annoying and seriously not the way to work.
So is that a bug in CC 2014?
Help is needed.

GwenLayer styles render in a different order so lots of things can get fouled up with you use them. They are still usable in complex situations, you just have to apply them in the right place in your composite. I've never found a situation where I needed a Layer Style and another effect that I have not been able to work around the limitation.
There are other things that change the render order. After Effects only does one thing at a time. The basic render order is listed right in the timeline view. Here's a sample.
Basic effect with Layer Style turned off:
First Mask 1 is applied to the layer, then Mask 2 is subtracted creating the hole
Then Fast Blur is applied, then Bevil Edges to create the button with the soft edges
Then the Transform controls take over and the anchor point is evaluated, the position reported, then the scale, then the rotation, and finally the opacity
Then the Layer Style is applied.
In my button design I want to apply a stroke to the button so that I looks like this but with the soft base and a stroke on the inside hole:
But, as you can see I had to turn off the Fast Blur to get the stroke to work because the Layer Style Stroke is calculated from the alpha channel, which fast blur has made 76 pixels wide so with Fast Blur on I get this:
The solution to my problem is to pre-compose and add the layer style to the pre-comp, then use an adjustment layer with masks for the fast blur to get what I wanted in the first place:
So here's what AE is doing with the final project.
The background layer is rendered
The pre comp is added to the mix
Inside the pre-comp the layer is rendered
Mask 1 is added to give rounded corners
Mask 2 is subtracted to punch the hole
Layer styles are applied to add the stroke
Back in the main comp the pre-comp is rendered
Bevel Edges is applied to the pre-comp using the alpha chanel
Now the adjustment layer is added to the mix
Mask 1 is added and this limits the area in the underlying layers where effects applied to the adjustment layer will work
Mask 2 is subtracted from the adjustment layer poking a hole in the effects
The fast Blur is added blurring only the bottom edge of the button

Photoshop poor transformation quality (rotation and scale at once)
When smart object, or layer are transformed (rotation and scale) at once, that cause bad result. Unnecessary work around is rotate object first, then convert to another smart object and then scale it.
As far as I know with a SO the work-around should not make a difference (and in a quick test on my station it did not).
Edit: Sorry, I had read inattentively and missed that you converted the SO to a SO again – that does make a difference naturally.
You could change your Perferences > General > Image Interpolation setting. -
Your session is no longer valid. Log on again - no long time
Hi guys, I´m working with a CRM upgrade, and working with the e-commerce solution, when I transfer an item to the cart 2 or 3 seconds later the app gives me an error message like this "Your session is no longer valid. Log on again." I do not have access to NWA because administrative issues and already ask for logs but it will take long time. Were I can search the possible reasons for a close session if I do not have access to logs ? It seems to me, to be a configuration problem with the server, maybe the url .

Call transformation XSLT and long note string in XML

Using call transformation (XSLT scheme) to convert XML file to html the problem is that line breaks in xml are ignored when passing the call tranformation.

Can you try modifying the XSLT stylesheet and add or modify the following attribute.

I've been using Firefox no problem for a long time but suddenly it stopped running today. I click on the icon and nothing happens. I updated to the most recent (just in case) and it still isn't loading up. Out of frustration I opened MSIE to search for this problem and I noticed that Firefox was working again. But, when I closed out of MSIE I couldn't get Firefox to work.
Not sure what you mean then. Is QuickTime still open and playing the video? If so, do you mean you can't even get back to QT to shut it down?
Check the Dock for the QT logo. Click it to bring that app to the foreground. The menu bar then should say QuickTIme Player next to the Apple logo. Close the app and the video will shut down with it. -
Tweaking a script to complete transform and also add scale variables

I am trying pick up bit and pieces on how to script photoshop. For the most part I can do what I need by mixing it with applescript. My current issue is taking a layer, setting the anchor point to set specific location (see below), scale it and complete the task with no user interaction. I found the below script which which will let me pass variables to set the anchor points (sweet). Now I am wondering if anyone can help me figure out how to add two more variable for the scaling. Since I am passing variable I don't need user interaction which this current script seem to want.
Part one: Set Anchor points — Done
Part two: Scale layer — Not sure
Part Three: Turn off user interaction — I am think I just need to change line 15 "DialogModes.ALL" > "DialogModes.NO" Can anyone confirm?
Any help would make my life a lot easier. I have to scale an image 10,000 times and this is the only thing holding me up.

Simply testing that for yourself should hardly take more than a couple of minutes. -
Kernel Panics starting again after long break
About 3 months ago i experienced a lot of random Kernel Panics and after trying all sorts of solutions the only thing that solved it was a total reinstall of my Tiger 10.3 with a zero out data on the Tiger reinstall. I did a copy (using SuperDuper) of my HD onto a external Firewire disk, and then copied that back afterwards.
Now it's starting again. I have Tiger 10.4.4 and have KP's almost every day. The latest looks like this (no periphals at all). Can anyone out there decipher the KP Log?:

- which made me suspecious about the Airport card or
something. But it's kinda random what the log says
and the only repeating line i see is:

You're right, it's probably not the graphics system if the other lines change. But if they always show the IOPCIFamily, it could be a logic board problem or a bad stick of RAM. If you have extra RAM, you could try swapping RAM around and see if that fixes the problem.
And for the Apple
hardware Test - everybody is talking about that but i
never could find that on any CD's i've had from Apple.
It depends on how old your computer is. The Apple Hardware Test for my PowerBook (Oct 2006) is on the "PowerBook G4 Mac OS X 15-inch and 17-inch Install Disc 1". It's referred to on the lower left side of the disc as "AHT 2.5.2", but the directions in the upper right refer to it as Apple Hardware Test: "To use Apple Hardware Test , hold down the option key as the computer starts up."
For my iMac G5, it's on another disc labelled "Additional Software & Apple Hardware Test". In the more distant past, I remember it coming on a completely separate CD, and the CD had a silver label, not the usual gray ones of the OS restore discs that came with the computer. But I'm not sure how long ago that's been.

Bounding and Free Transform Boxes do not scale properly for small objects.
Illustrator CS5 Windows:
When using the bouding box or the free transformation box to scale a small object, Illustrator will add some padding between the box and the object.
This would really be helpful, but the scaling box now scales the object based on the transformation handles.
This would be fine if the transformation corners fit the object, but because of the transformation padding, the resulting height, width, x, and y are way off.
To replicate (CS5 Windows):
1. Go to magnification of 100%
2. Create a box that is 100 pixels wide by 4 pixels high
3. With the object selected, take note of y: coordinate.
4. Select the free transformation tool
5. Drag the bottom middle transformation handle down a good distance.
watch the outlines you'll see the problem.
6. The top edge (y:coordinate) of the new object is now much lower, but the bottom middle handle should never change to the top edge position of an object (unless you invert it)
Is there a setting or something to turn this feature off?

Why does Firefox no longer scale its size correctly with my new Macbook Pro?
hey folks, experiencing a weird issue and I'm not sure how to resolve it.
I've been using Firefox as my default browser for about a year, love it. I had been using a late 2011 Macbook Pro, sometimes just as a laptop, sometimes attached to a 4 year old external monitor. No issues.
A few weeks ago I switched to a new Macbook Pro with the retina display. When I use the laptop with my external monitor, the sizing of the app is all wrong. It's like super zoomed out. Web pages and text like the menus, bookmarks, etc..are so small I can't read them. When I use the laptop just as a laptop, sometimes Firefox looks ok, and sometimes it's showing this rendering problem.
I tried launching Firefox in safe mode without my plethora of add ons, no change in behavior.
I'm running what I think is the latest version of Firefox for the Mac, v 34.0.5. As an example, I could not read the version number, it was too tiny. I could see where it was so copied it and pasted it in here. And, I'm running the latest version of Yosemite, 10.10.1.
I'd love to get Firefox working again, does anyone have any suggestions. Right now I've had to go back to Safari as my default browser, which is ok but I do prefer Firefox.
One additional note: I'm not seeing this behavior with any other app. Everything else looks appropriately sized. The issue is only with Firefox. I appreciate any ideas any of y'all might have, thank you.One more thing: even though Firefox said it was up to date, it appeared the latest version was 35.0. So, I downloaded and installed that, thinking maybe a fresh install would remedy this problem. No joy, still looks the same.

Simple Transformation with very long XML element names
I am trying to write a program to deserialize XML documents using the Simple Transformation technique. There are many optional elements in the XML document, so I need to have conditional statements statements to avoid trying to process elements that are not in the document. The XML document, however, has several Element Names that are greater than 30 characters in length. The Simple Transformation technique seems to require ABAP data dictionary structures that mirror the schema of the XML document. But one cannot create structure component names that are greater than 30 characters in length. We don't have any control over the XML schema as the XML documents come from the US government. The ST fragment below shows the statement that I want to write, but since the ABAP Structure PlasticCardInformationGroup cannot have a component AuthorizationResponseInformation, the ST syntax checker yields an "Illegal Reference ADDITIONALPLASTICCARDINFORMATION" error message.
Does anyone know a way to avoid this error?
