Transform XML into Oracle

Can anyone tell me how to transform data from XML file into Oracle DB without using any tool. I have not done it before.

Not quite understand your question. But if you have an XML file and would like to store it into Oracle DB, you need to first create the DB Schema for accepting the data and using XSU to save it.
If you would like to store it in single piece, just use CLOB. If you have Oracle9i, XMLType is also a good choice.

Now I want to transfer the XML into a complex type in Java, for instance
ArrayList<MyKunde> retKundenliste = new ArrayList<MyKunde>();
The type MyKunde is defined with all needed attributes and the corresponding getter/setter methods. My object getting the XML response from the WS is kundenliste of type javax.xml.soap.SOAPElement (defined by the WS proxy) . What method do I have to use to get all elements from the XML structure transformed into an array of MyKunde?
I can imagine that this task is a standard but as I said I'm new in Java programming.

I'm not sure but the Wizard should have created accessors for the char_list Adobe in the generated AbcXyzObj.java class. Check this class for the attributes and their getters and setters.

I am having some difficulty parsing an XML file into oracle 11g database.
Currently using Oracle 11g Express Edition (XE)

I try to insret XML data into Oracle, and I looked on forum for tips. I found (I think) the way to do it, but I have an error :
Here is what I did : I created a table of XMLType (OK) :

Then I insert data directly (OK):

Now, I want to import directly from a XML file. I try this :

it fails with ORA-06553: PLS-306: numéro ou types d'arguments erronés dans appel à 'XMLTYPE' (xml_dir is setup)

Thanks for you answer. Oracle version is 9.2.0.4.0.
Thanks also for the BFILENAME information. My problem remains that if I try to read by entering directly the filename, I have the PLS307 error.
I will check the XMLDB FAQ, but I have seen several documentation, and process is always the same, as I do...except for the error.
I will also try in 10g, to see if it works better.

Loading Large XML into Oracle Database

Hi,
I am fairly new to XML DB. I have been successful in registering a schema to a table in the Database. Now, I have to load the appropriate XML into that table. I am using the Simple Bulk Loader program found on this oracle site, however, when I load my XML file I get the following error: ORA-21700: object does not exist or is marked for delete.
So, I figured maybe simple bulk loader cannot handle large files? So I reduced my XML file and loaded it with the program and it worked. However, does anyone know how I can load large files into my registered schema table.

Did you specify genTables true or false when registering the XML Schema ?
Does you XML schema contain a recursive definition
Is it possible that after reducing the size of the document you no longer have nodes that contain recursive structures...

Transforming XML into Internal Table

Is there a feature to load XML into Oracle 9 ?

Hello,
I receive some XML files containing error messages from an external vendor, so i want to load these files into my database, yet i never worked with xml for import, so i dont really know if oracle has a build in feature like sqlldr, that i could make use of.
I run Solaris 5.8, so i could surely build a shellscript to do the job, as files are consistent. Just i wanted to use oracles tool, if there is any :)

Import/insert data from XML into Oracle database tables?

Hi. (I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 and Oracle 10g)
I have been able to export the data from one of my database tables by using a View Object and .writeXML.
Now, I want to take an xml file that is formatted in the same way as what is spit out by the writeXML and put that info in my database table. I followed online examples and have tried using .readXML like so:

vo.readXML(element, -1);
I know it is sort of working, because at first I got an error message that one of the required attributes was missing. So, I added that attribute to my xml file and ran my code. No errors. But, I checked my database, and the new records were not added.
Is there something I have done wrong? Or is there perhaps something I left out? I also noticed there were several versions of readXML like readFromXML. Which one should I use and how?

Transforming XML into nested Internal Table via Call Transformation XSLT

Hi guys!
I am relatively new to this XML transformation to Abap Internal table. Hence I got help some help from this thread ABAP Development as well as referencing Txn SSTDEMO1 and SSTDEMO2
But I tried to attempt on my prog it failed. Heres my sample XML, XSLT & as well as Internal Table.
The good news is I am able to read in a BID item under bidlist BUT with no fields filled in the table.... Pls help....

Error trying to insert xml into Oracle table

Hi -
I am trying to (a)read a row from emp table and output the results in xml format
and (b) insert this row to another emp_new table (same structure as emp).
When I run it here is what I get:

The row enclosing tag is given by setRowTag("Emp").
What's wrong here? Any ideas?

My Database version : 11.2.0.2.0
I have an XML file which needs to be loaded into the Database Tables. How ever i do not want to use the XMLTYPE as given below

Because this way the XML file needs to reside on the DB server.
I am looking into other option of loading the XML file into a CLOB column of a table and reading it from that column.
I did a couple of tests and feel that this way also the XML file has to reside on the Database Server itself. I am not sure if this is correct or if there is any problem with our TEST instance.
++Can anyone let me know if i need to have the XML file on the DB server instead of the Application server to load into a CLOB column of table ??++

1) Are you asking me to create a folder on Database directory which points to a folder on the Apps server ?I suggest creating an Oracle directory object (a database object) pointing to a real location (folder) on Application server.
we DONOT want a hand shake between the DB Server and the APPS server.I don't see where the problem is.
I'm not familiar with Apps R12 but there's no doubt the two servers are already communicating, at least App server should be able to access the DB for the whole thing to run.
As I said :
One way or another, the data has to make its way to the database, there's no workaround to that.How do you imagine the data will end up in a database table if it doesn't come to the DB server?
There's no magical method out there, both servers have to communicate at some point.
About client-server approaches (client being here the App server), you can read about accessing the XML DB repository in the XML DB Developer's Guide : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e23094/toc.htm
Other option : SQL*Loader can load a CLOB, or an XMLType column too

Problem Transforming XML to JSF tags

I have a fealing there is something I don't know here,
I am transforming XML into a JSP that include tags from taglib http://java.sun.com/jsf/html (prefix="h")
This is an section from my stylesheet

<xsl:attribute name="value">#{abyss.myCustomer.forename}</xsl:attribute>

</xsl:template>
which transforms my XML to exactly what I expect if a was writting it directly as a jsp
<h:inputText value="#{abyss.myCustomer.forename}"></h:inputText>
but it still looks like this after it is rendered in the browser, and not like
<input type="text" name="dataCapture:j_id_id199" value="Customer Name" />
which is how it looks if I cut and paste the result of the transformation into a jsp, and run that by itself
Does anyone have any idea was the <h:inputText does not evaluate the tag in the browser after the transformation ?

I used Altnova XMLSpy and StyleVision to generate the XML and XSLT files, and I know the stylesheet correctly displays a table containing the contents of the XML file.
So why doesn't the JSP import teh XSLT and XML and initiate the transformation?

Sorted it, just put the jsp into an existing web app and linked to it from the controller servlet.
