Translating English strings that comes from database from into Hindi
Hi
I am developing an application for a school trust.
The application generates progress reports of the students of the school.
I have to design reports in Hindi language since the school is Hindi medium. How can I translate the English strings that I am taking from database into hindi.
Please help.
Hi,
In my application it may not require to translate the meaning of the string. (ie, "Excellent" to it's hindi equivalent).It will do if I can only
display the string in hindi. (ie, "Shailendra" in hindi). But since there are more than 3000 student names (and will be increasing per year), I can not do this by storing the translation somewhere. Is there any other method to do that. Is the code to display an English string into hindi
or somewhat similar to this available on the net. Please Help.
Thank you.

How to download Data from Database directly into excel
I have a requirement to download very large quantity of data from database into Excel file.
But condition is excel file should have only 65,536 rows in a single spread sheet(that's the limit i suppose),if i have more data points(rows) than it should be stored into different spreadsheet.......this continues so there can be many spread sheets in a single excel file.
Data size can be 1 GB or more.
Also specific naming conventions need to be followed for giving name to excel as well as different spread sheets in it.
Please see if someone could help me out.Thanks for ur reply,

Download byte[]'s from database from pageflow Controller
I cannot seem to download a byte[] array (of a stored excel file in Oracle) using a pageFlow controller. I want to use the controller because the byte[]'s are gathered from a JDBCControl and the controller can of course gain easy access to the JDBCControl.
Of course the desired end result is that the browser will prompt the user to open/save the dowloaded file.
Has anyone been able to do this?Hi Jinchun,
Thank you for your suggestions. Below are my comments:
Upgrade the SSRS to date - I am a developer and the server is owned by an infrastructure team. It is not at all realistic for me to ask them to upgrade the server because of my issues. If it helps though, we are using SSRS 2012.
Run the sub report separately to check whether the issue happens - I have done this and it doesn't make a difference because I'm only retrieving basic parameters from the main report. The subreport queries the binary data from the database itself.
Simply the custom code(e.g. Just show message box) - Unfortunately, I didn't have time to try this one before the business agreed to the other working option which is downloading the files to a shared drive. I know it sounds so lame from a web development
perspective but really I think this is not a bad compromise for using SSRS.
Thanks again for your efforts,

Drawing info from database from url
i have set up a page called invite a
friend...user_profile_invite.cfm...and set it up so the url changes
dependant on the users name....so user_profile_invite.cfm/dan would
be an example
i am now unsure of how i would pull information from a
database based on the url.....
previously my query was
SELECT name_usr
FROM databse_usr
WHERE id_usr=#url.id_usr#
and if the url was user_profile_invite.cfm?url_id=22...i
could drag info for the user with the id=22 accordingly
however, i am unsure of how to adapt my query to cater for
urls such as user_profile_invite.cfm/dan
any help would be appreciated
cheers> WHERE name_usr=#url.name_usr#
And, of course, use a <cfqueryparam>, not just a
literal value there.
I might also obscure the URL parameter a bit, so people don't
simply go
accessing (or at least attempting to access) other people's
user data.

How to put data from database into array
I need to answer hot to put data from database directly into array.
I tried like the code below but the error message said: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0, and it points to this line: numbers [row][0]= rs.getString("ID");
Hope you can help.
ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
int row=0;
String [] [] numbers=new String [row][10];
// output resultset
while ( rs.next() )
numbers [row][0]= rs.getString("ID");
numbers [row][1]= rs.getString("name");
row++;
// close resultset
rs.close();
thanks,DeviThe exception is been thrown simply because you assigned '0' to the 'row' variable, indicating a zero length of the array. In fact you should assign the row count to it.
After all, don't do that. Make use of the Collection framework and map the ResultSet to a Collection of DTO's.
List<User> users = new ArrayList<User>();
while (resultSet.next()) {
User user = new User();
user.setID(resultSet.getString("ID"));
user.setName(resultSet.getString("name"));
users.add(user);

How to check SSO user from database?
Hi:
I've posted this topic in Forms forum:
How to check SSO user from database?
then as I've been told, it's better to post it here, so ...... here is the question:
I'm writing a "before delete trigger" to insert into log table before delete. Is there a way that I know from database the current SSO user when SSO users share one database user?
Just like in Oracle Application Express there is v('APP_USER') to know the current user.
Saad,End users are manipulating data through Oracle Forms(and SSO through portal) and the thing I need is to trace the SSO username from database without modifying forms, I mean purely from database taking into consideration that SSO users are sharing one database user. Is it possible?

Users Immigration from Database to OID
Hi all,
I want to migrate users from Database 10g into Oracle AS 10g Rel2 OID.
Any body have steps or a link to the procedure.
Thanks and Regards,
FahimHi Fahim,
If you want to create OID user accounts based on your database accounts, you may find the following DBMS_LDAP samples useful:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/id_mgmt/plsqlapi/index.html
If I remember correctly, you will have to place your database users in a .ldif file and then import them into OID. The sample code can be modified to do this.

I am trying to use the relatively new Code First from Database with the newest EF (6.x) and on an Oracle database (11g, but I have installed the newest ODTwithODAC). First of all, it works fine as long as the connection string is inside the App.Config file. But when I try to build it dynamically in the C# code (or rather, statically at the moment) it fails. I have it working with a dynamically built connection string when doing Model from Database though, so I'm at a loss right now.
First, I have created a second constructor for the context class that takes a string and does base(connectionString). Then I build the connection string via
OracleConnectionStringBuilder oracleBuilder = new OracleConnectionStringBuilder();
oracleBuilder.DataSource = "TEST.BLA.COM";
oracleBuilder.UserID = "ABC";
oracleBuilder.Password = "abc";
oracleBuilder.PersistSecurityInfo = true;
string connection = oracleBuilder.ToStrin();
Now trying to open an EntityConnection by giving to it this provider-specific connection string (or even the static one from the App.Config) doesn't work; I get "keyword not supported: user id"). Trying it by creating a context and giving this connection string doesn't work either. I'm pretty sure that this is because I didn't specify the provider to use; after all, it should use the Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client provider and not an SQL Server based one.
I then tried to get around this by using an EntityConnectionStringBuilder on top and specifying the provider keyword there, but then I get "keyword not supported: provider" when using it in the context constructor, and "the 'metadata' keyword is always required" when using it with the EntityConnection constructor.
As I said above: I bet it's the provider that I have to specify somehow, but I don't know how. The code that does work is the following:
using (var context = new Model())
context.Database.Connection.Open();
context.Database.Connection.Close();
When I read context.Database.Connection.ConnectionString, it is exactly the provider-specific connection string I created above, but I don't know where to specify the provider again. Do you know of any way to do this? Certainly there must be one.
PS: I have also posted this question on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27979454/ef-code-first-from-database-with-managed-oracle-data-access-dynamic-connection because it is quite urgent and I'd like to use Code First from Database. Otherwise I'd have to go "back" to using Model from Database again, which is not ideal because we have updatable views where the .edmx-file has to be edited after every reload of the model, while with Code First from DB inserting into the view automatically works.I am trying to use the relatively new Code First from Database with the newest EF (6.x) and on an Oracle database (11g, but I have installed the newest ODTwithODAC). Thank you for taking the time to help with this problem. Can I just say however that as someone who has posted a first comment here and quite clearly never used a forum like this before, your comment unfortunately comes across as very excluding. It makes me feel there are a set of unwritten rules that I should know, and that I don't know them shows that the forum is not for me. In short, it's exactly the kind of response that stops people like me using forums like this.
I'm sure it's not intended to be received like this and I am sure that the way you have responded is quite normal in the rules of a forum like this. However, it is not normal for those of us who aren't familiar with forums and who only encounter them when they have a genuine problem. This is why I hope it is helpful to respond in full.
The reason I posted here is as follows. I was directed here by the apple support website. The original comment seemed to be the only one I could find which referred to my issue. As there is no obvious guidance on how to post on a forum like this it seemed perfectly reasonable to try and join in a conversation which might solve more than one problem at once.
Bee's reply however is both helpful and warm. This could in fact be a template for how new members should be welcomed and inducted into the rules of the forum in a friendly and inclusive way. Thank you very much indeed Bee! -

How to get string value from database table using Visual Studio 2005?
Hi,
Im developing plugin in illustrator cs3 using visual studio 2005. I need to get the values eneterd in database. Im able to get the integer values. But while getting string values it is returning empty value.
Im using the below code to get the values from database table
bool Table::Get(char* FieldName,int& FieldValue)
try
_variant_t vtValue;
vtValue = m_Rec->Fields->GetItem(FieldName)->GetValue();
FieldValue=vtValue.intVal;
CATCHERRGET
sprintf(m_ErrStr,"Success");
return 1;
Im using the below code to get the values.
AIErr getProjects()
char buf[5000];
int i;
std::string catName;
::CoInitialize(NULL);
Database db;
Table tbl;
errno_t err;
err = fopen(&file,"c:\\DBResult.txt","w");
fprintf(file, "Before Connection Established\n");
//MessageBox(NULL,CnnStr,"Connection String",0);
if(!db.Open(g->username,g->password,CnnStr))
db.GetErrorErrStr(ErrStr);
fprintf(file,"Error: %s\n",ErrStr);
fprintf(file, "After Connection Established\n");
if(!db.Execute("select ProjectID,ProjectName from projectsample",tbl))
db.GetErrorErrStr(ErrStr);
fprintf(file,"Error: %s\n",ErrStr);
int ProjectID;
int UserID;
int ProjectTitle;
char ProjectName[ProjectNameSize];
if(!tbl.ISEOF())
tbl.MoveFirst();
ProjectArrCnt=0;
for(i=0;i<128;i++)
buf[i]='\0';
int j=0;
while(!tbl.ISEOF())
if(tbl.Get("ProjectID",ProjectID))
fprintf(file,"Project ID: %d ",ProjectID);
ProjectInfo[ProjectArrCnt].ProjectID = ProjectID;
sprintf(buf,"%d",ProjectID);
//MessageBox(NULL, buf,"f ID", 0);
j++;
else
tbl.GetErrorErrStr(ErrStr);
fprintf(file,"Error: %s\n",ErrStr);
break;
//if(tbl.Get("ProjectTitle",ProjectName))
if(tbl.Get("ProjectName",ProjectName))
MessageBox(NULL,"Inside","",0);
fprintf(file,"ProjectTitle: %s\n",ProjectName);
//catName=CategoryName;
ProjectInfo[ProjectArrCnt].ProjectName=ProjectName;
//sprintf(buf,"%s",ProjectName);
MessageBox(NULL,(LPCSTR)ProjectName,"",0);
else
tbl.GetErrorErrStr(ErrStr);
fprintf(file,"Error: %s\n",ErrStr);
break;
ProjectArrCnt++;
//MessageBox(NULL, "While", "WIN API Test",0);
tbl.MoveNext();
//MessageBox(NULL, ProjectInfo[i].ProjectName.c_str(),"f Name", 0);
::CoUninitialize();
//sprintf(buf,"%s",file);
//MessageBox(NULL,buf,"File",0);
fprintf(file, "Connection closed\n");
fclose(file);
for(i=0;i<ProjectArrCnt;i++)
sprintf(buf,"%i",ProjectInfo[i].ProjectID);
//MessageBox(NULL,buf,"Proj ID",0);
//MessageBox(NULL,ProjectInfo[i].ProjectName.c_str(),"Project Name",0);
return 0;
In the above code im geeting project D which is an integer value. But not able to get the project name.
Please some one guide me.As I said in the other thread, this really isn't the place to ask questions about a database API unrelated to the Illustrator SDK. You're far more like to find people familliar with your problem on a forum that is dedicated to answering those kinds of questions instead.

This is a noob question, though I do use SQL Server databases all the time with Entity Framework when I code in C# using Visual Studio 2013. The development environment is found below at [A]. I am trying to make a clone of a SQL Server 2008 R2
database (.mdf) that exists online. I can read, connect and work with this database in Visual Studio 2013, but I wish to make a local copy of the database, as an .MDF file. Somewhere in my notes I have a way of creating a local copy from
an online database when using Visual Studio but I forgot how (it seems, reviewing my notes, that it deals with ADO.NET which is deprecated in Visual Studio 2013 these days, or so it seems). So I'm looking for another way. What I did was create
(or export) a "Data-Tier Application File" from the online SQL Server database, with data, and it seems to have worked in that this Data-Tier Application file exists on my hard drive and seems to have data in it ("SQL Server Replication Snapshot"
is the format it seems). It contains skeleton code to create a database, but when I tried to execute it with SQL Server 2014 Management Studio, I got a bunch of errors.
So my question is:
1) Can I somehow create a .MDF SQL Server Database from an Data-Tier Application file that has data? What tool do I use? I saw this link, http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/2639.how-to-use-data-tier-application-import-and-export-with-a-windows-azure-sql-database.aspx
and it relates to Azure, but is there a tool for C#Visual Studio 2013, standalone?
2) If there's an easy way to create a .mdf SQL Server Database file from an online file, within SQL Server Management Studio? I don't think so, since it would require Administrator permissions on the online server, which I don't have. I have permission
to read, update, delete the online database file, but strangely not to download it (the service I use has a tool for backup, but not for download).
3) same question as 2), but for Visual Studio 2013? I don't think so, since I notice none of the templates even mentions ADO.NET anymore, but instead they go with Entity Framework. Using EF I can of course do anything I want with the online database
(CRUD), but it remains online. Maybe there's a switch to make a local copy? I guess I could write a short program to suck all the data out of the online database and put it into a new, duplicate database having the same tables, that I create on
my localhost, but my question here is if there's an easier way than this, maybe a tool or command I can run from inside Visual Studio?
Any advice on any of the above questions is appreciated.
Thank you,
Paul

What do you mean by too general? It explains on how you can use data tier application to create and deploy databases

If you use the WCF-SQL adapter it is recommend that you set UseAmbientTransaction to true if you are changing data. I think this requires MSDTC to be enabled on the SQL server that you are changing the data on. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd787981.aspx)
I think that Availability groups does not support MSDTC. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms366279.aspx).

Yes, Availability groups doesn't support MSDTC. Please refer to the similar discusison which maybe helpfull:
