Transparency disappears when exporting.
Hello there,
I've made a flash image with the gif extention with Adobe Flash CS4 Pro. I have set the WMODE to tranparent and i've set the Transparency at the giv tab to transparent to. But now comes the difficult part. Each time when I export the image the background is still white.
What did I do wrong? and how can I fix it?
Kind regards,
Daniël Dorgelo
Thabk you for your help but it wasn't helpfull beco

But I still appreciate your comment.
Kind regards,

Is it possible to get transparent background when exporting to PDF?
When exporting a document to PDF, Pages turns the background white instead of keeping it transparent. I need it to be transparent. Can anyone tell me what to do to fix this?
When I print a document I use stationary that is in my printer. When I want to send the document by email I need to combine my text with my stationary (on the same page). In CS4 InDesign this is really easy with switching layers on/off, but I don't want to use InDesign for my wordprocessing, but Pages. In Pages I can add a background, but I can't switch it on/off. So now I use AcrobatPro 9 to combine my text document with my stationary, adding it as a watermark or background. This does not work with documents I made in Pages since Pages makes the background of a document WHITE when it exports to pdf. Instead it needs to be TRANSPARENT.
By the way: MS-Word gets it right: it keeps the background transparent when making a pdf. But I don't want to go back to Word, I just want Pages to do it right...
Any suggestions how I can make this work? Thanks!Hi marchaarman
Pages has an odd behavior, it actually puts 2 white backgrounds in the back of its documents.
This confounds Acrobat which inserts watermarks in front of the 1st background but sandwiched under the 2nd.
MsWord does not actually make a transparent background it just makes the 1 white background, or whatever the paper color may be.
If you want your watermark, you will need to add it in Pages, possibly as a master object in a section template that you can eliminate or add as you want.

Tiff transparency disappears when imported into InDesign C6
I have a problem With my tiffs - they lose the transparency when I import them into InDesign.
The original tiff can be imported without problems.
To ajust the size of all of the original photos, I used the Image Processor in Photoshop. This seemed to work fine, the transparency is still shown in Photoshop, but now disappears when I import the tiff into InDesign.
I do hope anyone can help me with this problemWhen saving tiff in PS ensure you tick Save Transparency box:

TOC disappears when exporting to docx
Hi!
I have updated to the latest version of Pages and got a trouble when exporting. I do my school work in Pages and it is mandatory to have a table of contents at the top of each document. On top of that my teachers all use Word so I need to export each document to docx. When I do so my TOC vanishes as if Pages 5 uses a TOC format that isn't supported by Word. The only way I can make it work is to first export it as a Pages '09 document, open it again and export it to a Word document. I get a table of contants that way (but it loses the formatting so it looks like *****, but I guess that is less important) but it's quite annoying to export each file twice.
So... Anyway to fix this or do I have to start using word for my school assignments? I actually believe that is less annoying than exporting twice
Edit: This worked fine in Pages 4.3 and I've done it heaps of times there. It's only a problem in 5, thus I came up with the double exporting solution.
/RobinIf you previously had iWork '09, those apps are still in your Applications folder in a folder named iWork '09. You can continue to use them to get things done.

Data disappears when exporting.
Hi,
I've just discovered a problem with one of my reports that seems to be dropping information from the details when I export it to a file type. I have reports set to run in enterprise on a weekly basis showing outstanding purchase orders. The report runs correctly when I run it directly from Crystal Reports XI r2, but when it is exported to a different file type, some lines of detail are missing. I have exported to a number of different file types, and still the problems occur. I can print the report from Crystal, and all the data is there.
There aren't any formulas suppressing any data anywhere in the report
Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? When you use a report to export, it is best to ensure :
1. all fields on each sectoin are same height ; and
2. all fields witin the same column are aligned.
Otherwise, some data could be missing when export especially Excel because some rows / columns are merged. -
CS5 - Graphic with feathered edge disappears when exported to PDF
I just ran into an odd problem, and unfortunately the book got printed before we saw the problem … ugh!
I set up a chapter header for a book. It was a graphic of wood to which I added a 0p9 feathered edge. In a text box on top of this, I put the chapter name in white type. They were both on the same layer, but the text box was on top.
I didn't notice at the time that when I exported the page to PDF, the graphic disappeared … and since the type was white, the whole chapter header was invisible. If I opened the PDF in Acrobat Pro using Pitstop, I could select a box where it was supposed to be, but couldn't make it show up.
I tried creating another layer and moving the text up to that; no good. The only way I was eventually able to make that darn wood graphic show up on the PDF was if I shut off the feathered edge.
Now I know I've used a feathered edge frequently, and have never run into this problem before. Does anyone have any idea why this time should be any different? There's was no color other than black, only one layer, and nothing was set to non-printing. I used the same export settings I always use. Stumped here … and very unhappy that we missed it and printed the book without the headers (my fault for not catching it, but doesn't make me any happier).

Export setting - set to print to Acrobat 8/9 compatibility (PDF 1.7) with crop marks on
Hoping someone has some insight here. It's too late for the current job, but I'd like to know why it did it so I can avoid the problem in the future.Hi John,
My InDesign files are too big to upload anywhere, but these two screen shots show an example of this problem.
This is how the spread looks in InDesign (link and effect info for right image shown):
... and this is how the exported PDF spread looks (normal "Press Quality" export setting):
As you can see, several, but not all, objects with transparent effects have disappeared. -
Objects in InDesign files disappear when exported to PDF (CS5.5)
I have some text that was created to outlines, filled and has a drop shadow applied. When I export the document to pdf, part of the text (the fill) disappears, and all I get is the drop shadow. I tried changing to a non-spot color, I tried removing all attributes, and nothing seems to work! I also tried copying that artwork to the clipboard and pasting it into an Illustrator file (says it is too big to fit the pasteboard, which I verified sizes - and it should fit. I tried copying the paths and pasting them in Photoshop as a smart object... no luck either. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help!
FYI - in the "Adobe InDesign Component Infirmation" dialogue box I learned all kinds of info - are you looking for something in particular? I learned that the document was created in InDesign version 7.0.4.553 (which is what I think I was using before I updated my InDesign earlier today)
There aren't particular obvious signs, no.
Generally at this point the right way to track this down is to work with a copy of the document, and delete pages or objects in the document until you find the cause of the problem. Then look at it closely, perhaps look at the IDML file, or make it available so we can look at it.
It sounds like you have a workaround, but if you have time, it might worth trying to find the real problem. -
Still images added to iMovie HD disappear when exporting
I have added a few still images to my iMovie HD movie project, using the Media/Photos tabs in iMovie. The images are JPEGs in my iPhoto library. I place the images in the timeline, but when I export the iMovie project to my video camera or to an MPEG file, the images disappear. Any suggestions welcome.
I have added a few still images to my iMovie HD movie project, using the Media/Photos tabs in iMovie.
This is the iMovie '08 forum.
I place the images in the timeline, but when I export the iMovie project to my video camera or to an MPEG file, the images disappear.
While you may get a better response regarding your camera export in the iMovie HD forum, I am intrigued by your loss converting to MPEG. Could you be more specific regarding your work flow for this process? -
Transparency Issue when exporting Image Sequence
Hi,
I'm creating short anims which have transparency and exporting them as png image sequences. I'm finding two issues with the export though:
1) The first frame is always solid black (when it should be totally transparent)
2) The R,G,B channels of each image are multiplied by the transparancy. So for example if I want a shape that's 50% transparent and coloured red the png should be 255,0,0,127 (R,G,B,A). In fact what After Effects is creating is a shape that's 127,0,0,127 (R,G,B,A)
Does anyone know what this issue is and how to solve it?
thanks
PaulYou should not have any problem with PNG as you have no choice but to have the alpha to straight (it's on of the only codecs that doesn't support premultiplied). Do you have the same problem is you select tiff sequences (LZW compression if you don't have much free space).

Original photos disappear when exporting retouched photos from iPhoto
BACKGROUND:
I have a folder of, say, 15 photos.
I open them in iPhoto and retouch them.
I export the photos and IMMEDIATELY am confronted with the message that they can't be exported because the originals cannot be found.
I go to the original folder of 15 photos and it is completely empty.
The missing photos aren't in the Trash, they are no-where. A search finds NOTHING but the ones in iPhoto.
If I try to copy the photos in iPhoto and paste them into the original folder from which they came, they create ALIASes and the picture doesn't show up ... just a JPEG icon.
If I export photos one at a time, the originals don't disappear, but if I try to export even two in the same procedure, all original photos disappear.
Obviously, this is AWFUL because my photos are gone, vanished, nowhere to be found.
What's wrong with my machine?
(I don't even know what version of iPhoto I'm using ... how do I find that information?)TO LARRYHN

IN A NUTSHELL: Whenever exporting anything from iPhoto, the original photos in Finder VANISH. Poof! They're gone. Thus, I disagree with your and Terence Devlin's comment that "iPhoto has no ability to manipulate files stored outside the iPhoto Library." My uninformed guess is that I need to re-install my OS or at least iPhoto.
BACKGROUND: Yes, I held down the Option key when launching iPhoto and chose CREATE LIBRARY from the resulting menu. Ever since doing that, the problem is the same EXCEPT that iPhoto now hangs virtually EVERY TIME I try to export. AFTER deleting the original files, of course
=====
INITIAL STEPS LEADING UP TO THE EXPORT PROCESS:
(1) From my camera, I import photos into a Desktop folder. Let's say, for this example, there are five photos (test1.jpg, test2.jpg, test3.jpg, test4.jpg and test5.jpg).
(2) I open them in PREVIEW, manipulate them (some need to be rotated). I save all changes.
(3) I need to remove some blemishes (hey, I'm not perfect). I select all 5 photos, CONTROL+CLICK and choose OPEN WITH ... iPhoto.
(4) iPhoto opens, and test1.jpg, test2.jpg, test3.jpg, test4.jpg and test5.jpg are in a new UNTITLED EVENT.
(5) As confirmation, I open Finder, navigate to the Desktop folder and confirm that the five original photos are still present.
Now here's where things go awry and I'll outline everything I've done:
NOTE: For all of these examples, I am not going to spend time to EDIT the photos in iPhoto. I am simply leaving the 5 photos I just imported untouched in an UNTITLED EVENT. (If I edit them, the results are the same, so I'm not going to waste my time.)
EXAMPLE ONE: EXPORTING ONE PHOTO AT A TIME
(6) I select test1.jpg (from UNTITLED EVENT) and choose FILE/EXPORT.
(7) The EXPORT PHOTO screen appears, and, without making any changes to the default settings (Kind: Current, Jpeg Quality: Medium, etc.), I select EXPORT.
(8) A screen appears: ALERT - The photo test1.jpg could not be opened because the original cannot be found."
(9) I choose FIND PHOTO and navigate to the original desktop folder containing the original 5 photos. I confirm that test1.jpg is there.
(10) I choose OK.
(11) The EXPORT PHOTOS screen appears reading, "test1.jpg already exists. Do you want to replace it?"
(12) I select REPLACE and a screen appears "Exporting ... 1 of 1" and IMMEDIATELY another screen appears in front of that reading, "ALERT - The photo test1.jpg could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found." (You will recall that just seconds ago, it was definitely there!)
(13) I choose FIND PHOTO ... and iPhoto hangs and must be shut down using FORCE QUIT.
(14) Just for grins & giggles, I check the Desktop folder to be sure test1.jpg is still there ... and it is.
EXAMPLE TWO: EXPORTING ONE PHOTO AT A TIME (and hopefully doing so w/o iPhoto hanging)
(6) In iPhoto, I select test1.jpg (from UNTITLED EVENT) and choose FILE/EXPORT.
I confirm that test1.jpg is present.
(10) I click on OK.
(11) The EXPORT PHOTOS screen appears reading, "test1.jpg already exists. Do you want to replace it?"
(12) I select REPLACE and a screen appears "Exporting ... 1 of 1" and IMMEDIATELY another screen appears in front of that reading, "ALERT - The photo test1.jpg could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found." (You will recall that just seconds ago, it was SO present that iPhoto confirmed I wanted to replace it!)
(13) I choose FIND PHOTO and navigate to the Desktop folder and, sure enough, there is no test1.jpg. One second ago, it was there but as soon as I chose REPLACE from iPhoto, it disappeared. I mean it's gone. It's not in the trash, it's not in the folder. It has vanished. Only test2.jpg through test5.jpg remain.
EXAMPLE THREE: EXPORTING ALL 5 PHOTOS AT ONCE
(I recreate the Desktop folder so it once again contains five photos ... test1.jpg through test5.jpg)
(6) In iPhoto, I select all 5 photos (test1.jpg, test2.jpg, test3.jpg, test4.jpg and test5.jpg ... from UNTITLED EVENT) and choose FILE/EXPORT.
(7) The EXPORT PHOTO screen appears, and, without making any changes to the default settings (Kind: Current, Jpeg Quality: Medium, etc.), I select EXPORT.
NOTE: In this example, iPhoto voluntarily navigated to the original Desktop folder ... it didn't make me search for the photos.
(8) A screen appears: FILES EXIST - test1.jpg and 4 other files already exist at the destination. Do you want to replace them?
(9) I select REPLACE and a screen appears "Exporting ... Exporting Image 1 of 5 and IMMEDIATELY another screen appears in front of that reading, "Alert, The photo test1.jpg could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found."
(10) I select FIND PHOTO and navigate to the Desktop folder and the folder is complete empty. All 5 photos have vanished.
====
QUESTION: Since all of my original photos have disappeared, how can I recreate them? I spent a month through-hiking the JMT this summer and you can imagine what a tragedy it was to find that virtually every one of my photos has disappeared and I have no way of replacing them. I can see them in iPhoto, but I can't bring them OUT of iPhoto and back into a Finder folder.)

AS AN ASIDE ... when I have to FORCE QUIT of iPhoto, I am given the opportunity to REPORT or IGNORE. If I choose REPORT, a screen appears reading that the transmission failed and that I should "try again later." This has been happening for quite some time. I cannot create a connection between my computer and Apple to report any problems.

Address Card photo disappears when exporting in Leopard
Hi guys,
Has anyone else out there experienced this? I can't see anything on the forums.
When I export a vCard, the photo disappears. It doesn't matter which method I use (dragging the card to the desktop or exporting via the pull down menu).
Thoughts anyone?
Cheers from NZ
Scott. You may need to go into the preferences, go to the vCard pref pane, and enable "Export photo".

Bass-sound disappear when exporting to Adobe Flash Video format
I'm making a guitar-tutorial on video, and want to export parts of it to Adobe Flash video by using Adobe Media Encoder. But when I do that, it sounds like the bass-sound of the band disappear. The sound generally becomes low also. Maybe there is a connection. Anyway, with the sound I have now, I can't use the video in flash format :-(
I've tried bitrates of both 128 and 256 kbps, which should be more than plenty.
Help would be appreciated.
Borre Pedersenjtp44 wrote:
Does "Data Rate" = "Bit Rate"
Yes
I selected DVD/CDROM in the "Data Rate" category...?
Umm....I assume you're exporting from FCP using QuickTime conversion,
so you can choose a QuickTime movie, H.264, and choose
Frame Rate: Current
Key Frames: Automatic
Frame Reordering: Checked
Quality: Best
Encoding: Best
Data Rate: Automatic ... which then means you don't need to choose DVD/CDROM.
Give that a try and see how it looks. -
Slideshows Disappear when Exporting HTML
I just upgraded to the most recent version of Muse Version 6.0 Build 751. I have a small intranet site for my company that I built with muse and have had no issues with it for about the past year (I started out using the beta). I usually update the content on it every week or two and it's all static, mostly things like newsletters and internal memos. Since it's an internal site I just export the html to the folder where it is hosted. Today all of the slideshows on the site disappeared after I exported it. I thought it might be a glitch so I exported it again. Same problem. They are just completely gone. So I thought maybe there was an issue with the old slideshows I had created in a previous version not totally jiving with the newest build. So I deleted a slideshow and rebuilt it. Exported the html and it's still gone. If I preview the site in muse or preview it in a browser everything is there. For some reason when I export it all of the slideshows disappear. Below is a screenshot of the site when I preview it in the browser. The next screenshot is what the site looks like after the export. Someone please help me out!!

Pages disappear when exported to swf
Hi all. I've got a document that I'm exporting as an swf to post on an etrading site. The problem is, I've got pages that are not appearing int he swf. For example, pages 1-6 show up fine in the .swf, but page 7 is blank eventhough there are objects on the page, then page 8 shows, page 9 doesn't, etc. I've browsed through the users forum to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas what may be going on? The whole document is 64 pages plus a few intentionally blank for formatting purposes, so I don't really want to have to redesign the whole thing. Any ideas would be great! ks
Yes, the pages that are missing in the swf are visible when the file is exported to a pdf.

Transparent video when exported
I am having a problem with a video I have been curently working on. I have already keyed it using keylight 1.2 and have exported it (lossless with alpha) to Premiere Pro. While previewing the video there is no visible bleed of the colors even when zoomed in. Once the video is exported to mpeg4 my black shirt allows background colors to bleed through at random intervals. I tryed rekeying multipule times with no effect and I do not beleive it was the green screen itself because I followed all greenscreen procedure (light wall, light subject, distance from wall. Do I need to rotoscope the shirt? Am I exporting it wrong? Any help would be much appreciated. If pictures are needed please ask.
