Transparent Background EPS @ High Quality

I'm just pulling the little hair I have left out.( i'm on a mac, cs5)  I have a logo I created which is just  text. I need to have the logo have a transparent background.  The problem I'm having. Is I'm hearing different people say  Illustrator doesn't support transparency(  I doubt that).   I do all the normal things, file save as, select .eps  made sure  transparent was check,  fonts embedded. Saved.   I think everything cool..  When i view it in preview  it comes up with white background.   If I import into acrobat, still white background.  Import into photoshop, still white background.   How can I ensure it keeps the Transparent Background?   Or should I be saving as .ai?    One note also when I import it into photoshop, the resolution is only 72 not 300 as the original  file was in Illustrator.  A friend said I should've just created it in photoshop at 300dpi with a transparent background.

...I'm hearing different people say Illustrator doesn't support transparency...
It's the EPS format that does not support transparency.* I'm curious as to what in your workflow makes it necessary to use EPS.
Or should I be saving as .ai?
That would be my recommendation. Always use an application's native file format -- especially to save "master" versions of your work. Within the Creative Suite, you have the ability to export/import among applications using native files -- making possible such features as Smart Objects -- so why not take full advantage of the built-in capabilities?
If I import into acrobat, still white background.
If you want a PDF file that respects transparency, use Save As PDF in Illustrator.
(*EPS provides for an embedded "clipping path" which can be used by supporting applications to knock out background. This, however, is not true transparency. Photoshop, for example, can save out EPS images with clipping paths -- recognized by page layout applications and Illustrator. Going the other way, however, I know of no way for Illustrator to create an EPS clipping path that survives the rasterization that occurs when importing into Photoshop.)

  • CS4: Transparent Background (PSD to ILL)

    I'm trying to turn a logo in Photoshop CS4 into a transparent background .eps file so I can use it in an Illustrator CS4 lay out design. Everything I am trying still includes the white background. Grh!
    I do not want a GIF file. It needs to be a high resolution .eps or .tif file.
    How can I do this?

    Use the native PSD file with a transparent background.

  • Printing high quality certificates in captivate

    Hello!
    I am trying to print a certificate that I created in PhotoShop and inserted into CP7.
    It looks amazing on screen, but prints out horribly.  I have tried fooling around with different file types, jpg, gif, etc.  And I tried increasing the DPI to 600, but nothing seems to be working.
    Is there a way to print high quality, non-pixilated slides from Captivate?  If not, does anyone have a work around for printing certificates that look nice?
    I also wanted the user to simply click the print widget one time and have the document already formatted to landscape & the highest quality - but I'm stumped on if that can be done..and how to do that?

  • How to avoid transparent background converting to white in smart object(psb )when image trace High Fidelity as we have the option of ignore white upto 16 colors trace.

    i have a psd image file in photoshop cc 2014 that has transparent background layer. I wanted it to convert to vector. The best option i saw was to first convert it to smart object in photoshop via Layer->Smart Objects-> Convert to smart Object. then exported it to a psb. Then i opened the file in illustrator and applied the image trace tool but the transparent background got converted to white but i had the option of ignore white upto 16 colors trace. But in case of High Fidelity Conversion, the ignore white option is not available, what should I do now?

    after using  high fidelity image trace  i hit expand, then i went to layers and hit the drop arrow by my thumbnail, which then shows <Group>,hit that drop arrow and it will show a list of all your paths, the very bottom one was my white background, you can click the eye or delete that path and it disappeared for me. i was using a png file with a transparent background, and nothing else worked for me, it always converted with white background, i never saw this mentioned anywhere, and accidentally discovered it, hope it works!!!

  • Why does placed eps file containing a drop shadow lose transparent background?

    When I place an eps file from adobe illustrator cs6, which has a drop shadow, into InDesign the file loses its transparent background and comes in with a solid white background. I'v selected the "Transparent" radial button in Illustrator while saving the file to eps but it doesn't work. Any ideas???

    EPS means Encapsulated PostScript (it's really PostScript code wrapped up in a capsule that allows you to place it into other applications as an image), and the PostScript specification doesn't include transparency. That's why even though you have transparency in the Illustrator image, it's format won't translate that transparency data into usable transparency when you place it into InDesign. Lack of transparency support is one of the main reasons people recommend not using eps in a modern workflow.

  • EPS preview in high quality?

    I am needing to create EPS files that have high quality previews. I can do this in other programs with WMF previews. Is there any way to achieve this in Illustrator CS2 or CS?
    Thanks in advance.

    There is no such thing built-in., though there may be some Explorer extension like similar to QuickView that can provide this facility. Other than that get an image viewer software like IrfanView or XnView and the GhostScript package that goes with them...

  • How can I save file in Photoshop with an transparent background as an eps

    I can save a file with a transparent background as an png and place it in a document and retain the transparent background. But my client requires eps file. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    You could add a clipping path - look in the Paths panel menu.

  • Transparent background in the eps

    Please help, going nuts!
    I am trying to export a logo (Type - outlined) as a white eps - and I can't get the transparent background on it. I've done this many times (exporting eps white and other colors) and never had an issue. For some reason this time it is a problem - I exported that logo as an eps in black and many other colors and had no issues with the transparency. Only when I am trying to export it as a white color logo it does not work - when I place it in the Indesign for instance it's empty or just a white box - as soon as I turn the color to 5% gray  (change the color in Illustrator and export it as an eps) it works. But pngs are working.
    Not sure what have I done suddenly that I can not do it?! Any advice? Thanks

    Hard to visualize exactly what you are seeing. But as long as you have control of the process, place your AI file in ID as an AI file. In other words, if you do not have to use EPS, don't. Just make sure to save the AI file with PDF compatibility. You can also generally just save a copy as a PDF (PDF/X-4 is best) and place the PDF in ID.

  • HT4641 Importing graphics with with transparent backgrounds such as .psd or .eps

    I want to use this for an art project for my sons class. Can I import .psd files with transparent backgrounds as per Word, to retain the clear cut shape/opacity of background. Or can I import .eps illustrator files with transparent backgrounds? Thanks.

    If you need transparency - as I stated - you need to convert the image to GIF. PSD is a layered graphic workspace file specifically for PhotoShop; EPS can be read by more applications, but is still basically a graphic print format. It might serve your customer needs, but wouldn't be the format I would recommend for general distribution. Typically you wouldn't embed EPS in another file, it would be the container for the print ready document (and the concern for transparency would be somewhat moot).
    However, I'm not familiar with the intimate details of your project or customer needs, so take that for what its worth.

  • Creating a high quality website logo in Photoshop or Illustrator

    I'm trying to create a very high quality crips website logo using Photoshop or Illustrator, but everytime I export the design into PNG, the text borders are not as crip compared with Google logo. How do I create a very crips and sharp logo using Adobe software? Please tell me what software, how to export, what the size of the document should be, what resolution, any detailed tricks, designs and pointers would be helpful. I know I can create a logo, but it is blurry and it shows. When I put my logo on a gray background for instance, the text becomes more blurrier. You know the deal.

    hmmm. Where to start?
    The question points to several areas of digital design fundamentals that indicate you need to educate yourself through classes, books, tutorials. The PS Forum can't really get at all the issues you bring up; resolution, vector vs raster, web graphics, transparency and the web. You are asking how to make a logo and that is a really broad request not easily answered.
    A quick search for "Photoshop for Web Design" yields a lot of possibilities. There are a lot of books and a lot of free and not so free online tutorials.

  • How do I get a transparent background behind a graphic?

    I haven't worked in Indesign in two years, and forgot a lot, but I'm getting up to speed for a new job.  While, I'm designing collateral, I need to get clip art and graphics placed in the document, but everything is coming in with the dreaded white box behind it, and I can't find a quick way to delete it or make the background transparent.  I don't work in Photoshop, and I don't have time to work this one out.  I used to send images to my service bureau or the printer to fix this, but now with budget cuts, I have to do this myself.  After all these years, isn't there an easy way to get the image to be transparent in InDesign?
    Thanks so much.

    This really hasn't changed in recent versions of InDesign. There is a very rudimentary way of dropping out backgrounds which only works if you have an image on a white or very light background called Detect Edges. Choose View > High Quality Display. Select the image, then choose Object > Clipping Path > Detect Edges.
    You adjust the Treshold setting and Tolerance setting to try to select the best result. The best result isn't of professional quality. It might work for a quick comp.
    Basically, you need to learn to do it in Photoshop. You need to use Photoshop methods to select the background and delete it to create an image with transparency which you can place in InDesign. Or you need to use the older methods of creating a Clipping Path or an Alpha Channel. Then you can select those options in Object > Clipping Path.

  • Using images with transparent backgrounds

    Hello. I'm trying to design several forms using a large background graphic along with several other overlays (defined by the form user) that contain transparent backgrounds. Unfortunately, everytime I go to change the graphic, the program won't recognize the transparency of the overlay and substitutes white in it's place. So, for example, I have a background image that is rectangular and when my form user selects an overlay that is circular, it inserts the circle with a white background (which is supposed to be transparent). Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks!

    Min required version of flash player for my application is 9..
    I think I figured it out, Here is my solution:
    private function completeHandler(evt:Event):void
       var originalWidth:int=loaderG.content.width;
       var originalHeight:int=loaderG.content.height;
       var scale:Number = 0.5;
       var matrix:Matrix = new Matrix();
       matrix.scale(scale, scale);
       myBitmapDataObj=new BitmapData(originalWidth, originalHeight, true, 0xFFFFFF);
       myBitmapDataObj.draw(loaderG.content, null, null, null, null, true);
       var copyBitmapData:BitmapData= new BitmapData(originalWidth* scale, originalHeight* scale, true, 0x000000);
       copyBitmapData.draw(myBitmapDataObj, matrix, null, null, null, true);
       var myBitmapG:Bitmap=new Bitmap(copyBitmapData,PixelSnapping.AUTO,true);
       addChild(myBitmapG);
    I also try blur filter on my bitmap:
    var blur:BlurFilter = new BlurFilter();
       blur.blurX = 1.4;
       blur.blurY = 1.4;
       blur.quality = BitmapFilterQuality.HIGH;
       myBitmapG.filters = [blur];
    Or is there better solution?

  • How to export animated gif with transparent background and glow effect?

    I've been having issues lately with creating animated gifs in flash. I finally figured out a way to export a gif with a transparent background but I'm now having an issue with it again because I'm using a glow effect. When the gif is exported the glow effect changes into a very poor quality and becomes less of a glow and more like a solid color. I've even exported a png sequence from flash and put it into photoshop then created a gif from there but I'm still having the same issue. Is there anyway I can properly export this in gif form so the quality is the same as when I test it in flash?
    I've provided an image of what my issue looks like and the settings (I've messed around with the settings and this is the best I can come up with) . This is in photoshop but the result is similar in flash. The left one is what it originally looks like and the right is what it will look like after exporting. As you can see as I said before the glow changes into more of a solid color kind of like a border. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

    A GIF is limited to 256 colors while a glow effect likely wants to tie up thousands (let's just say 'lots') of variations of tone.
