Transparent label on top of label with image

I want to place a transparent label over another label with an image, the only way I have found to do this is using a null layout. any Ideas on how to do this using Layout managers??

I am not sure what's happening with IE9 (no live site) but I had real problems viewing your code in Live View - until I removed the HTML comment marked below. Basically your site was viewable in Design View but as soon a I hit Live view, it disappeared - much like IE9. See if removing the comment solves your issue.

Make a label with not transparent background

Hi,
When generating a label control, the default background color is transparent, but once add a color for it, it will show a raised box. How to make a label with background color and has the flat format?

Once you have the color picker, select the desired color, then hit the space-bar to only select the outline color and then select the transparent color in the upper right.
Hitting the space-bar toggles between the different combinations of elements to be colored, just play around and you'll get the desired effect.

Transparent label

one of our products has a transparent label, i'm redesigning part of it and i just want to make sure i do this right:
i want parts of it to remain clear (everything outside of the design) and parts of it to print white (parts of our logo)
do i just specify parts to remain white and leave nothing where i want it to print white? or do i need to do anything else to prevent the white part of the artboard from printing white?

There’s a lot more we need to know. How are these labels printed? On a label machine or dedicated label printer? On a laser or inkjet printer? At a professional print shop?
Unless you are using spot colours (more later), anything white in your design is effectively transparent when printed. This is because most colour printing does not use white ink. White is the colour of the paper, and anything that’s white is just a part of the page where nothing is printed. If you are printing on something transparent, then you won’t get white where you make something white, you’ll just get nothing.
But even where you want an image that’s not white, say a logo, to appear, it won’t be opaque. Process ink and toner is transparent. That’s how the colours mix to give you a wide spectrum. Want a blue logo? Mix various values of cyan and magenta. If the inks were opaque, you’d only get either cyan or magenta. Because they are transparent, you get blue, but if you print on a transparent medium you can still see through the blue, which is not what you want.
Assuming you are preparing files for a professional flexo print shop to make labels for you, you will need to make an opaque white spot colour. First, make sure your Document Color Mode (File menu) is CMYK. In the Swatches panel, click on the Make New Swatch icon (small page). Double-click on the new swatch, give it CMYK values of all zeros (although any value will work) and select Spot Color for Color Type. Name the swatch anything you like.
Now you might think it makes sense to put this opaque white on the bottom layer of your illustration, but you’d be wrong. You want it on the top layer and you want to use the Attributes panel to give it an Overprint Fill. Turn on Overprint Preview in the View menu and lock the layer with the opaque white fill so you can work on the layers underneath.
There are tricks to allow you to work with the opaque white on the bottom layer, but they require a lot more understanding of how Illustrator, transparency, and layers work. Based on your question you are not ready for this yet.

Labeling all images in a stack; when all images are stacked

A long time ago, when I was using Photoshop Elelments I found a plug-in that made it possible to work with stacks as a unit.
If I labeled the top image in the stack that lable was applied to all the images in the stack; then I could sort the the image on top and all the images in the stack would stay together, or if I deleted an image in the stack all the images in the stack were deleted. Without it I have open each stack I lable and apply the lable, so when I sort the stacked images they stay together.
I don't remember where I found that plug-in and I'm sure it would work in Photoshop. Anyone else use it and know where I can find it?

I do not use Lightroom when you wrote "Stack" in Photoshop that refers to the layer stack. The link you posted seems to be more about paring files. I do not know much about lightroom except it organizes your images using logical databases. Lightroom calls this its Library system. I know the book libraries have book stacks so it would surprise me that Lightroom had some type of stacks. You started by stating when you used PSE you used something to manage stacks. I thought now the you are using PS you needed something for it. This thread most likely belongs in the Lightroom forum.

I can't apply labels to images in version 2.1.1

Last November 3rd I updated IBooks Author to version 2.1.1 (459). Since that day I can't apply labels to images. I can edit labels for the existing images, but there isn't any label list when I import a new one. If I create a new widget, labels are applied and can be edited.
I've tested this issue with new documents and existing ones with the same result. I also tried to restore a version 2.1 from my previous TimeMachine backups, but no succes.
I've being working well since I installed Maveriks, until this version 2.1.1 update. It is a bug? I've read complains about the same failure in the comments of the App Store from Spain. Can I downgrade iBooks author?
I am finishing a techical book with hundreds of images, so, you know what I am feeling.

Might be a bug - best to contact Apple directly so they can take a look, I think...

Drag and Drop Labels with line interconnected

Dear all,
As before, I use java.awt.dnd objects and java.awt.datatransfer objects to help me to drag and drop some labels with right-click my mouse.
Now I would like to left-click my mouse to draw a line between the two labels by pressing the left-click on label 1 and drag and drop to label 2. Then I would like to see a now line created betwwen label 1 and 2. I have an idea to addMouseListener and addMouseMotionListener on the labels to get the position of the labels and draw a line with the position. But I found that both right-click and left-click can trigger this event. Can I give some restriction on that so only left-click can trigger this event.
Also I cannot do it successfully as I found that after I rewrite the paintComponent method, the older image cannot be cleared and make the screen become verbose. Do I missing something on rewrite the paintComponent method? Also do you have any other suggestion on the task of drawing a line between the 2 labels?

Displaying "Required Label with Help" icon dynamically

Hi,
I have an item say 'Dept Name', P1_DEPT_NAME
This field is mandatory in case of CREATE and optional in case of UPDATE.
- so in case of CREATE, I need to put the ICON (Required Label with Help) along with the Label 'Dept Name'
- in case of UPDATE, I don't need the ICON (Required Label with Help) along with the Label 'Dept Name' as it is an optional field.
How can I change the label dynamically.
the path of the icon is shown below but don't know where to put this as per my requirement.

Apex 3.0 Q: "Optional Label with Help" default when creating new form?

When I create a new application, usually one of the first things I do is set the default item label to "Optional", so I don't have the annoying popup help link.
Now, when you create a new Form region, based on a table, for all the items the label is set to "Optional label with help". Am I right in hoping this is something that was overlooked when developing Apex, and that it will be fixed in version 3.0, so that it sets the items to the default label as set in the Shared Components?
And is there a way to change the labels for a lot of items at the same time, other than changing the theme templates?

AFAIK, label help in default manner is based on column coments of a table.
Later there is now way to easy reedit these values but manually...

Problem with image transparency in Director

We want to use some Photoshop images with some transparency and gradients
(ie foreground color to transparent background) in a project where the image
will be placed over various other background images (the background images
will show through the transparenct areas).
When we import the file (in p/shop format - selected as 32 bit),and it's
placed onto the stage the "transparent" areas of the image are not fully transparent
- there is a slight 'lightening' of the pixels in the transparent areas (this doesn't show
up when the image is viewed in Photoshop)
Can anyone explain what is happening here?

You are sleeping the thread used to perform the repaint.
Calling repaint only marks a component as needing painting, and AWT will paint it later. If you continue to loop in the mainthread then you will not see the changes.
You have to move your loop to another thread.

How to link label with an input field in data table?

I am curious if there is a nice way to link a label to input field in a data table directly in JSP? Data filling the table are dynamically bounded.
Sample, simplified code below. Values of "label" property are unique in the collection binded to dataTable.

Change the popup window size in the "optional label with help" template?

G'Day Apex/javascript gurus,
I am using Apex 4.0 where I coded an HTML table for help text in one item. Now, when an user click for help in this item then the HTML table is bigger than the size of the pop up window so the client has to re size it a bit to see it fully. To fix this, I tried to create a new "optional level with help" template where I can control the size of the pop up window and make it bigger to fit my HTML table so the client does not have to resize but I could not find any parameter in the original template:

Hello Carlos,
You can overload the APEX javascript with your own, on the page you want it to happen. You can do that in the Page Definition - Function and Global Variable Declaration.
Copy the below code into there and change the width and height of the popup.
