Transparent tray icon wont work in gnome

hi,
im trying to create application with simple tray icon. i dont want to use all space, some parts need to be transparent. well, on windows i have no problems, icon displayed just as it should be, 16x16 with transparent parts.
however, on linux (Ubuntu, Gnome) it wont work so nice. icon area seems so to be bigger, couse my icon appears in upper left corner and the remaining area is grey. as it is with transparent part of the image. any ideas?

Please perform hard reset by pulling your battery while your BlackBerry is ON and reinsert again in a few seconds. If still persists, upgrade or reinstall your BBM http://blackberry.com/bbm

Need Help... "system preferences" under Apple icon wont work.

please help. i am a new mac user. i have an iMac. when i try and select the system preferences under the apple icon, it wont work. like the its missing or been deleted. i have searched for it, and cant find it anywhere.
what do i have to do to get it back. reinstall something?

Open the Macintosh HD folder from your desktop, and in that, open "Applications".
Is there an entry there "System Preferences" or "System Preferences.app"?

I just got the new Ipad. When I try to send a message to my friends Iphone the blue send icon wont work. Anybody have any advice on how to make this work.

The blue icon is there, its just isnt bolded and doesnt do anything when i press it. Please help!

First, try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

Changing icons wont work...

Hi, I have a problem! Whenever I try to change the icon of an external drive, it shows the generic file type instead of the icon. For example, if I try to change the icon with a .png file, it shows the preview icon with JPEG under it! I followed all of apples instructions to change the icon, with copy and paste from preview and the get info etc...

You have to OPEN the image you want to use with the program Preview, then click in the main Preview window to make sure it is active, do Command-A or go to the Edit menu and Select All from there. Then do either Command-C or Copy from the Edit menu in Preview to copy the image. Switch back to the Finder (you now have the image you want on the Clipboard--which you verify from the Finder Edit menu with "Show Clipboard"). Now your image is available to paste into the GetInfo window for the item you want to have the custom graphic.

There is a Claws Mail tray icon theme available on gnome-look.org:

These are the instructions the author gives to install the theme:
Claws Mail Tango trayicon theme
Claws-Mail version = 3.3.0
copy icons claws-mail-3.3-0/src/pixmaps, recompile and install.
So what am I supposed to do (especially since the newest Claws Mail version is 3.4.0...)?

I would recommend using ABS. just makepkg -o first so the sources get DL'd and unpacked. copy your icons and makepkg -e so the sources are not extracted again and therefore your new icons overwitten.

Pidgin icon not transparent in gnome panel.
Is this gnome-panel related, or Pidgin related?
Some other icons like Skype are transparent, but others are not
(VLC player tray icon is not transparent, for instance)

For those who wish to get this working before pidgin 2.7, you can build the current 2.6 from ABS with patches and it seems to be working. See jarryson's later posts in http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=731130 . Other apps are still in need of their own fixes. It occurs with many themes, but not with some..

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

How do I get firefox 3.5 back? Firefox 4 can't find yahoo.mail URL. Using your suggestions has caused me to loose my system tray icons and printers from my computer altogether and my system restore will no longer work either.

Firefox 4.0 cannot find the Yahoo mail URL. Working with the Verizon tech we were able to get Internet Explorer to finaly find the yahoo mail web site. But not luck with Firefox 4.0 .

Try to put your headphones several times in and out from your connection, might be the switch is stuck. Normally it should work again while trying to plug the headphones in and out!

I understand that Firefox is no longer working on your Windows Tablet. The development of Metro did stop and has been discontinued. However what version were you on before this started to happen?

Dock icons not working, wont say whether an app is being used or not

I just bought my imac yesterday, not even 24 hours old, maybe 17, already im having problems with it. When i turn on my mac and start up an app it works great and what not, but then after i try to open another it, the app will bounce and keep bouncing and not stop, the light never shows up. So after that happens, the icons on the dock wont work properly, the apps work, but the icons on the dock dont.
Thanks in advance, dont take this the wrong way, i love macs, its just disappointing i buy it and in 40 mins my dock starts messing up.

It does sound like your dock isn't working properly, but I'm not sure what to tell you. Have you done all the software updates yet? OS 10.5.1 is out. You might check with software update and then go to the Apple site Downloads and bring everything up to date. Remember to repair permissions before and after downloading software. Maybe this might fix your problem with the dock. If not, please post back.

My ipod mini is showing Three of the icons and wont work.

My ipod mini is showing Three of the icons and wont work. Its showing the uncharged icon when plugged into my computer but when i plug it in to the wall, the apple comes and then swithes to the sad ipod icon. Before it goes back to the apple it shows the icon for the battery with an exclamation piont for like 1/2 a second. It repeats. The ipod has been telling me attempting to copy failed. could not be read from or written to for like 6 months but i just press sync again and it works. today it did that but then another box came up that said could not be read from or written to file or directory has been corrupted. then i restored it and it wouldnt let me press only sync checked items. so i had to drag songs to the ipod to get them on it and i was listening to it and a song stoped at six seconds and i ptressed skip and it didnt change for like 20 min so i reset it and now its doing this. does it need serviced? is it worth it or should i get a new one?

The first thing is to check for corrpt files. So go to my computer and open the iPod drive and post a screen cap of the files. Do a couple of different ones...like one of the main drive page and then one of iPod_Control and one of the iPod_Control Music folder.
Here is what my "dirty" drive looked like:
The circled files (with the exception of # 12) are the ones that I ended up deleting.

In order to show some of the files, you have to go to the top of the page, press "tools", "folder options", "view" and then "show hidden files and folders".
When you go to the music folder and delete excess files, you don't need to worry about loosing your music because it's all safe on iTunes.

Client 4.91 Scheduler tray icon doesn't work

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Client 4.91 SP2 and SP3 several times,
but still can't get the Scheduler to work. The tray icon shows up OK, but
if you double-click or right-click and tell it to "display schedule", it
does NOTHING.
Has anyone else seen this annoyance? Thanks in advance.

Does start -> run -> wmsched cause anything to happen?
