Tree control w/ custom objects...

I have a Tree control in which i put custom objects. It works
well, but now i want to start adding custom icons, or removing the
icons altogether, for it's nodes. How do i do this? Do i need to
add some property to my custom object nodes? I appreciate any
info!

try this (pseudocode, not tested)
//this is a 1 px transparent png
[Embed ('images/icons/nullIcon.png')]
private var nullIcon:Class;
[Embed ('images/icons/yourIcon.png')]
private var yourIcon:Class;
private function setIcon(data:Object):Class {
if (data.something) {
return yourIcon;
return nullIcon;

  • Access control for Custom Objects

    Hi,
    I am working with two custom objects: Custom Object 1 and Custom Object 5. There is a team on Custom Object 1.
    The user has access to both and has create access for Custom Object 5.
    The user is not the owner of a record in Custom Object 1, but is on the team for the record with full access.
    When in the related section for the custom object 5 you click on edit I get the following error: "You have read-only access to this record. Click Cancel button or Back link to continue. Access Denied.(SBL-DAT-00284)"
    When you click on the link to the related record and then on edit it works fine, the user can edit and save the changed record.
    I do not understand why this does not work in the related section.
    Thanks for your reply!

    Hi Errol,
    to build your own application authorization scheme around the security model supplied by Apex for administration of the Apex environment would be a bad idea.
    This was never intended for authorization scheme management in custom built Apex applications, it was solely intended to control access in the Apex environment overall. The API for it is not published, and making changes to it, such as adding more roles, would run the risk of breaking the overall Apex security model. It would not be supported by Oracle and Oracle would not guarantee the upwards compatibility of any changes you make in future versions of Apex.
    In short, you should follow Tyson's advice and build your own structure. As he indicated, there are plenty of examples around and provided your requirements are not too complicated, it will be relatively simple.

    folder2                     -- level 1
    if i select level3 and click on ADD button .....i get a facility to add new node
    at level 3 and and same thing can happen at level1 and level2 ............ if i select
    and folder at level3 and click on delete button ....it should delete that folder...
    if you do not have such program ........then guide me how to achieve this target via object oriented because i have to split the screen also and have to show some alve display in that.
    just guide me how to add and delete node at a particular level in tree structure....

  • Items in Tree control move around when data is submitted using custom ItemRenderer

    I'm working on a Tree control with an XMLListCollection as
    its dataProvider.
    The dataProvider has information looking like this :
    quote:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
    <INFO>
    <FIELD label="STR_USER_NAME"
    type="text"
    value=""
    >
    </FIELD>
    <FIELD label="STR_USER_EMAIL"
    type="text"
    value=""
    >
    </FIELD>
    <FIELD label="STR_OPTIONAL"
    type="branch"
    value="0"
    >
    <FIELD label="STR_USER_ADDRESS"
    type="text"
    value=""
    >
    </FIELD>
    <FIELD label="STR_USER_POSTAL_CODE"
    type="text"
    value=""
    >
    </FIELD>
    </FIELD>
    </INFO>
    So in the Tree control I'd like the information to show up
    with a label and
    an
    editable textbox for each item :
    [Label] [textbox]
    To do this I made a tree like this :
    quote:
    <mx:Tree id="userTree"
    editable="true"
    rendererIsEditor="true"
    editorDataField="curVal"
    itemRenderer="{new ClassFactory(ItemRendererUser)}"
    itemEditEnd="e_ProcessData(event);"
    dataDescriptor="{new DataDescriptorUsers()}"
    showRoot="false"
    verticalScrollPolicy="{ScrollPolicy.AUTO}"
    />
    where the e_ProcessData() function looks like this (I used
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/201/html/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm?href=c
    elleditor_073_16.html#202105 as a guide) :
    quote:
    public function e_ProcessData(event:ListEvent):void
    event.preventDefault();
    userTree.editedItemRenderer.data.@value =
    ItemRendererUsers(event.currentTarget.itemEditorInstance).curVal;
    userTree.destroyItemEditor();
    userTree.dataProvider.notifyItemUpdate(userTree.editedItemRenderer);
    } // END OF e_ProcessData()
    I attached the rest of the files because they're a little
    bit longer.
    When I run the program, the data shows up fine when it is
    initialized the
    very
    first time, and I made a test button that just dumps the
    contents of the
    dataProvider in a trace statement to verify that the data has
    been set
    properly.
    The problem I've run into is whenever the textfield is
    edited, the item
    that
    I've selected jumps around the list.
    For example, if I edit the item "STR_USER_NAME" after I
    finish the edit, it
    will move from the very first position in the Tree to the
    bottom of the
    Tree.
    I traced the contents of the dataProvider and the
    dataProvider structure
    stays
    the same, with the "STR_USER_NAME" at the top, but if I look
    at the flex app
    in
    the web browser, its position is at the bottom of the Tree.
    This happens for every other item I try to edit... I read in
    the
    documentation
    that the ItemRenderers are recycled, so it means I should be
    checking to
    make
    sure the initial states are covered, but I'm not sure how
    this affects my
    application.
    Can anyone help me out with this ? Its very confusing - I've
    tried making
    an
    ItemRenderer using pure actionscript, mxml and the
    combination you see in
    this
    example and I always end up with the same behaviour - So I
    must be missing
    something critical...
    // ItemRendererUsers.mxml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="
    http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
    verticalScrollPolicy="{ScrollPolicy.OFF}"
    horizontalScrollPolicy="{ScrollPolicy.OFF}"
    creationComplete="initItemRendererUsers();"
    >
    From my FAQ:
    Q: I've created a custom itemRenderer component to use in a
    List
    based component (Datagrid, TileList, HorizontalList, etc.).
    When my List
    first displays, everything looks fine, but when I scroll it
    or change the
    dataProvider, some of the itemRenderers show values or
    formatting that
    aren't right. How do I fix this?
    A: List-based components don't draw a renderer for every item
    in the
    dataProvider. Instead, they create enough to display what is
    on screen now,
    plus one or two more waiting in the wings. This means they
    recycle the
    renderers rather than creating new ones when you change
    dataProvider or
    scroll up and down. When you use a creationComplete event to
    set up the
    itemRenderer, that event doesn't happen again when the
    renderer is used for
    a different set of data. The solution to this is to override
    the set data
    protected function that most components have.

    Your set data needs to set a flag that gets picked up in
    commitProperties()
    and does your thing that you were doing before in
    creationComplete. You
    should see examples of this in the links I posted. Instead of
    this:
    _data.@value = inputText.text;
    you should look at implementing IDropInListItemRenderer,
    which will allow
    you to dynamically determine which field to look at, instead
    of hardcoding
    it. You also might wind up overwriting the stored value with
    a null value
    when the List passes the stored value in. I'd encourage you
    to really go
    through those links I posted and make sure you understand
    what they're
    saying. The itemRenderer life cycle is one of the hardest
    things to
    understand, but once you understand it, it makes many things
    in Flex much
    easier. It's worth investing the time.

  • Custom Run Time Menu (.rtm) for a tree control doesn't appear in LV executable

    Hello,
    I am using a custom run time menu (.rtm) for a tree control in LV.  When I right click on the control the run time menu appears in the LV development environment.  However the run-time menu does not appear when run the executable installed by the installer I created.  I tried including the .rtm file with the installer, but it did not fix the problem.
    Please let me know if any ideas.
    Thanks,
    Russell

    This is a known issue and has been reported to our R&D engineers for further investigation (CAR# 3T2E57V2). The workaround is to embed the run-time menu in the control instead of the separate .rtm file. To do this, make a minor change in the shortcut menu (for instance, add a dummy item then delete it), so that the shortcut menu editor will ask you to save the new menu. When it prompts you, choose to save it with the control instead of to file.

  • Event Bubbling Custom Object not inheriting from control

    One of the new things flash flex and xaml have are ways which
    the event easily bubbles up to a parent that knows how to handle
    the event. Similar to exceptions travel up until someone catches
    it.
    My goal is to use the frameworks event system on custom
    objects. My custom objects are:
    ApplicationConfiguration
    through composition contains:
    SecurityCollection which contains many or no SecurityElements
    and
    FileSystemCollection.cs which contains many or no
    FileSystemElement objects
    ect ect basically defining the following xml file with custom
    objects.
    [code]
    <ApplicationConfiguration>
    <communication>
    <hardwareinterface type="Ethernet">
    <ethernet localipaddress="192.168.1.2" localport="5555"
    remoteipaddress="192.168.1.1" remoteport="5555" />
    <serial baudrate="115200" port="COM1" />
    </hardwareinterface>
    <timing type="InternalClock" />
    </communication>
    <filesystem>
    <add id="location.scriptfiles" value="c:\\" />
    <add id="location.logfiles" value="c:\\" />
    <add id="location.configurationfiles" value="c:\\" />
    </filesystem>
    <security>
    <add id="name1" value="secret1" />
    <add id="name2" value="secret2" />
    </security>
    <logging EnableLogging="true"
    LogApplicationExceptions="true" LogInvalidMessages="true"
    CreateTranscript="true" />
    </ApplicationConfiguration>
    [/code]
    basically these custom objects abstract the xml details of
    accessing attributes, writing content out of the higher application
    layers.
    These custom objects hold the application configuration which
    contains the users options. The gui application uses these
    parameters across various windows forms, modal dialog boxes ect.
    The gui has a modal dialog that allows the user to modify these
    parameters during runtime.
    basically i manage: load, store, new, edit, delete of these
    configuration files using my custom objects.
    Where would event propagation help in custom objects like
    described above?
    ConfigurationSingleton.getInstance().ApplicationConfiguration.CommunicationElement.Hardwar eInterfaceElement.EthernetElement.RemoteIPAddress
    =
    System.Net.IPAddress.Parse(this.textBoxRemoteEthernetIpAddress.Text);
    The EthernetElement should propagate a changed event up to
    the parent ApplicationConfiguration which would persist this to the
    registry, db, file or whatever backend.
    currently this logic is maintained else where. I serialize
    the root node which compositely serializing the nested nodes and i
    check of the serialization is different from that in the backend
    … This tells me if the dom was modified. It works but i would
    like an event driven system.
    how should i implement bubbling using custom objects?
    3 implementation ideas:
    1) A simple way is to implement a singleton event manager:
    EventManager.RegisterRoutedEvent
    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms742806.aspx
    I like this idea but how can you tell which object is nested
    in who… this way the event can be stopped and discontinue
    propagation?
    2) If i use binders as discussed in Apress’s book:
    Event-Based
    Programming Taking Events to the Limit
    basically a binder connects the events between seperate
    objects together… although it would work for my app, I would
    like a more generalized approach so i can reuse the event system on
    future project.
    3) how does flash flex handle this..
    objectproxy.as?
    http://www.gamejd.com/resource/apollo_alpha1_docs/apiReference/combined/mx/utils/ObjectPro xy.html#getComplexProperty()
    >Provides a place for subclasses to override how a complex
    property that needs to be either proxied or daisy chained for event
    bubbling is managed.
    how does these systems all work....? Reflection ?
    this way i can simulate this on my own custom classes.
    Thanks!

    I have a strong sensation that the OSMF project is quite dead.
    no new submits since 2010, the contact form on the offical OSMF
    project website http://www.opensourcemediaframework.com/
    returns a PHP error.
    and many unanswered questions about OSMF in this forum.
    i think it would be wise to not use OSMF if possible, although
    I'm also stuck with it since we are utilizing HDS/PHDS
    protocols which are utilized in the framework.
    otherwise its quite a head-ache.
    I'm unable to get to a video element coming from a proxied element
    that is being produced via an HDS connection.
    and haven't found any solution that works.

  • Expand Tree Control

    I now have a Tree Control populated from an ArrayCollection
    and using the defaultDataDescriptor.
    At this point in the program the data exists only in the
    myTree.dataProvider and the root node is at myTree.dataProvider[0]
    or myTree.dataProvider.source[0] and I can see from the variables
    window that the correct data is located here.
    What do I have to put for 'item' in
    myTree.expandChildrenOf(??item??, true). Everything I can think of
    returns:
    "Cannot access a property or method of a null object
    reference."
    Does anyone have any idea how to make this work.
    Doug

    The error occurs in the Flex file Tree.as at line 1383.
    I can now see that the null object is not item -
    dataProvider[0], this contains the correct data. The problem is
    that iterator is null and therefore iterator.view is a null
    reference.
    Is there any way to solve this problem?
    My ArrayCollection is built in pretty much the same way as
    shown in:
    Flex 2 Developer's Guide > Building User Interfaces for
    Flex Applications > Using Data Providers and Collections
    > Using hierarchical data providers > Data descriptors and
    hierarchical data provider structure > Creating a custom data
    descriptor
    But I have used the defaultDataDescriptor and my arrays are
    not built from literals.

  • How can I display and change built-in symbols of a tree control programmatically?

    I want to set the built-in symbols of a tree control during runtime.
    I only found an example to assign custom pictures but not how to select one of the 40 built-in symbol.
    Many Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    The ActiveItem.SymbolIndex will allow you to select the symbol for the active item. You can use the ListBox Symbol Ring Constant (Dialog and User Interface palette) to select a symbol (or you can just enter the number directly if you know what it is).

  • How can I save the all the values of a tree control ?

    I have a problem, in run time, I adds new items on a tree control, but i don´t know how I can save the values of the child text of each item in a file.
    Thanks.

    I'm no expert on the tree control, but I made a small example to save all items to a textfile, including item tag, item string, and indent level. One drawback of this method is that it fully expands the tree regardless how the user left it. To go the other direction, you'd have to write a routine to go through the text file and programmatically build the tree.
    To master the tree control, I think you have to resort to creating a control reference for it and using the Invoke Node to do some operations. For another approach to traversing and operating on a tree, check out the "Traversing Tree Controls and Setting Custom Symbols" (search the NI Developer Zone site).
    Best of luck,

  • Tree-control for data input?

    Hi,
    I need to program an input screen for values that have hierarchical dependencies (e.g. sums). I feel, the most adequate user-interface would be a tree control, because of the data dependencies and also because the users asked for a possibility to collapse/expand parts of the data during input.
    I had a look at CL_GUI_COLUMN_TREE, but I'm not sure, if it can be used for data input. Has anyone done something like this before or can anybody direct me to some additional sample coding? (the sample coding in the reuse library didn't do it...)
    Thanks for your help, greetings, Kathrin!

    Hello Kathrin,
    Since you say that the user's input is hierarchical in nature, it is nice to have a tree-control for input. But, the choice of using a custom-control-version of the tree is a cause for some concern. I cannot recollect any of the SAP screens where the input can be given through such a tree framework (please do let me know if you have come across one). The problem with such a tree would be in the areas of even-handling. Filling the tree with appropriate data at the right times would be another challenge.
    However, there's one alternative that I would like to direct your attention to. You must have observed another kind of tree, when you select an application component from the APPLICATION HIERARCHY, which is just like a list. Also, the <i>Transport Organizer (SE09)</i>, <i>Menu Painter (SE41)</i> etc., have this kind of a tree. You can use this if you (or rather your users) are very particular on having a tree display. For more information, you can see the Function Group <b>SEUT</b>, which has the required function modules to accomplish the same. The Function Group is well documented, and you might have to work a little on the function modules themselves.
    Please do let me know if this is a suitable option to meet your requirement. All the best,
    Regards,

  • Add multiple elements to a tree control at once

    I am using a Tree Control to display customer and certificate information. However, adding 500 customer names or certificate numbers to the tree control one at a time takes for ever (well, 30000 ms). Is there any way to add multiple elements to a tree all at once, or is the only solution to use a listbox with 'forward' and 'back' buttons ?
    thanks,
    michael

    Hi Michael
    I don’t believe there is a way to supply a list of child items to a parent item, they have to be added incrementally. One way that you could speed this process up is to design your code such that only when you expand an item does it add the child items.
    If you want an even higher update rate have a look at using the ActiveX TreeView control, you will find an example called Family Tree.vi in the LV examples.
    I'll do up some code that makes using both of the controls more efficient if enough people want it.

  • Custom Objects in JNDI Not Being Replicated in Cluster

    I know this is going to end up being something really simple, but I can't find
    any docs or other posts on it.
    I have a simple two node weblogic 7.0 cluster. In a startup class that is deployed
    to the cluster I check for and create a subcontext. This subcontext will just
    hold custom objects when a node comes up. When a node does come up, one of the
    web applications binds a non-RMI custom object to the subcontext created via the
    startup class.
    Once both nodes in the cluster are up I can see via the weblogic console's "View
    JNDI tree" feature that the custom object bound on node 1 is only visible in the
    JNDI tree of node 1. Similarly the object bound on node 2 is only visible in
    the JNDI tree of node 2.
    Is the JNDI tree that is visible via the console the JNDI specific to the node
    and not the clusterwide JNDI tree? Do I have to do something special to get access
    to the cluster wide JNDI tree (for instance when creating an InitialContext)?
    Is there a way to view the cluster wide JNDI tree?
    Thanks for any information.

    Hi Matt,
    how did you compile t3 stubs,there are -clusterable or something like this
    option shat should make replicatable-aware stubs.

  • Re-create Tree control drag and drop move

    Hello,
    Ive got a tree control where dragEnabled=true and I have
    custom handlers for dragEnter, dragOver, and dragDrop so that I can
    drag/drop from datagrid's to the tree and it works fine.
    The issue is now the built in tree functionality for moving
    nodes around within the tree is gone. When I set dropEnabled=true
    it breaks the ability to drop from the datagrid to the tree.
    How can i keep the ability to move tree nodes within the tree
    and also be able to drag and drop from a datagrid onto the tree?
    Thanks for any help!

    While doing more testing I found the solution.. seriously...
    dont know how I should have known this one...
    on Tree dragOver handler:
    if( from.id == 'data_grid' ) event.preventDefault();
