Tricky Situation with Disco columns!!

The problem is something like this..
I have a discoverer crosstab worksheet with a column axis called "Expenditure Category" which lists the expenditures (data point) against a list of employees (row axis). The expenditure categories that are present in the databse are, say, "ABC","DEF","XYZ".
Only ABC and DEF are the ones that need to be displayed under expenditure categories because their costs are in currency (INR). The costs for the expenditure type XYZ are in terms of HOURS and it needs to be displayed as a separate column (some calculation) alongside the employee names.
As of now, if i filter out the rows with expenditure category as "XYZ".. all those rows are lost and I cannot create any sort of calculation on them. On the other hand, if i include all those rows, then I get a column called "XYZ" under expenditure categories heading which I dont want.
Any suggestions ?

So are you saying that you want the XYZ to be an attribute of the Employee (thus in the left side drill) and not a fact (thus not in a cell) ?? And so it does not vary based on the cross-tab column, like the cost data does??
If so, then you want to create a folder that joins the Employee to the hours info calculation (choice of a folder based on database view, SQL folder, complex folder). Then you can use this Employee+Hours folder as your base instead of the standard Employees, and join that to the costs info and do your crosstab as you were.

    Is there a way to create a  Crystal report based on the following situation?
    Run a stored procedure with two date parameters:
    If you run from 9/1/07 to 9/30/07, then the data result would be as follows: (example only) and the report format would follow
    Cust        Sept 07       
    AB100     2000
    If run from 8/01/07 to 9/30/07
    Cust       Aug 07       Sept 07  
    AB100     1000          2000 
    if run from 7/01/07 to 9/30/07
    Cust       July 07      Aug 07       Sept 07

    So Basically, based on the parameters chosen, it could be a report with one, two, three, or even 40 columns, each column representing the month.

    Does this require that the stored procedure has already created the different columns by month first?  Or can the raw data be a three column source

    And checking the format with multiple columns will create the Crystal report like:

  • Tricky Issue with connecting to Lync server from my desktop lync client 2010

    I am facing a tricky situation here,
    Firstly i have 3 modes of connecting my laptop to the internet as follows:
    1)Using Wi-Fi connection.
    2)A physical LAN cable connection
    3)An internet data card (A USB data card).
    Now, i can comfortably use my Lync using 1st and 2nd mode of connectivity. But i am having a real issue using the 3rd mode of connectivity i.e using internet data card, it just doesn't connect to the Lync server at all, even though i can browse internet
    very well.
    Later i got a workaround to solve this, what i did was, i connect to internet first with 1st and 2nd modes i.e wifi or lan cable and then i also connect to internet using 3rd mode i.e data card.
    After this i start my Lync, which  now connects perfectly and then when it is connected and working.
    I disconnect my WiFi or LAN cable this causes Lync to restart, but this time it connect within minutes again using internet of my datacard, isn't this Bizarre ??
    Now Could someone please help me to connect the Lync just  by using my internet datacard?
    Atlast 2 thing which may be of help is :
    1)I can easily connect Outlook to the exchange server using my datacard and retrieve my mails.
    2)When i connect to internet using my internet datacard, I can still see "Not Connected Symbol"  in my network indicator on my Win7 PC, But i can still Brows
    internet.
    This problem may have something to do with networking, not sure. Please Help me to solve this !!!

    Infact it was a Network Issue, found following on technet and solved the issue:
    I found a solution for (my version of) this problem.  My tray icon never showed the red X, but if I clicked on the icon, the popup showed a bigger icon with a red X, and said "Not connected".  As in your case, Internet worked, but I'm unable to setup
    a VPN connection because it insists on using a non-existent modem, obviously because I'm "not connected" (which I am). 
    I monitored the processes running the NlaSvc and Netprofm services (using ProcMon), and noticed that both were denied read/write access to subkeys within the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList hierarchy.  
    The processes were running as NetworkService and LocalService, respectively, so I tried adding full access for these service accounts to the entire subkey
    mentioned above.  Notice that permissions are not automatically inherited in the registry, so you may need to explicitly "replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object".
    Within seconds, Network and Sharing Center tells me I'm connected to my domain.  Yay!
    A reboot was required to fix the tray icon and its popup.
    However, I'm still unable to add my VPN connection.
    I'm interested in hearing from you guys if your registries miss the same permissions?  If so, Windows 7 must have a bug somewhere with misaligned service permissions/rights.

  • IMovie to Premiere: Best workflow for tricky situation?

    Hello, I tried to make a cool title to drag you guys and girls in and possibly find a solution for me. Maybe it is not a super-tricky-situation, but for me it is
    I have just started working with Premiere, and I love it. I am right now working for a client that is very particular with the editing and he has done it in iMovie. He just wants me to do the finishing touches, grade, effects and export.
    I have a complete mirror of the material he uses in iMovie on my own HDD, and i started to read about exporting to FinalCut XML and then importing it into Premiere, however my client does not have that "XML" option. I also took a quick look to see what can be done to export from iMovie but i found no good solutions on his PC.
    Now the trickiest thing to do, which would be really time consuming is to simply ask him to render it in any format he wants, send to me and I'll drag it on top of my timeline with an opacity of around 50 % and then I'll just search for every clip (from my HDD) to try time his in and outs and lay it under his edit.... Just writing about this gives me the chills because it sounds like a very slow process.
    Have anyone of you been put in the same situation and would you guys know any easy way to solve this.
    Worth mentioning is that my client also has Final Cut Pro 7 on his PC, and possibly one can open an iMovie-project in FCP, export as XML or maybe just render it in some kind of lossless codec where i can use the blade tool in Premiere to make my own "edits"
    What would you suggest, any help would be much apprechiated.

  • Table with 300 columns

    While talking with a friend, he was telling me that sometimes he uses tables with 300 columns which will only be accessed once for information extraction. For me this is a bit strange because 300 columns looks like a lot of columns for me...
    Having tables with so many columns is a common practice in Data Warehousing? If yes, can you explain me on which situations this can happen and how often?

    We have tables with cca 150 columns.
    You need to know that we are not talking about relational systems that are normalized. Its common practise when bilding data warehouse. Number of columns in your tables will depend on complexity and size of your warehouse, and number, size and complexity of your source systems.
    Point is that even now, when data warehouse is "finished", we still add/remove columns as warehouse changes as the source systems change.

  • Strange situation with joins!!!

    I am having a weird situation with joins. I have two tables "EMPLOYER" and "ADDR". Table "ADDR" has columns "ADDRESS_ID" and "ADDRESS1".
    Table "EMPLOYER" has two columns, "BUS_ADDRESS_ID" and "MAIL_ADDRESS_ID" which are left outer joined to the "ADDR" table on "ADDRESS_ID". I have also created an alias for "ADDR" to get both addresses.
    The logical table Employer has two LTS, one with "ADDR" and one with "ADDR1". (I do not want to create one LTS with both the tables as left outer joins, that will create other problems)
    When I query EmployerID,EmployerName,ADDR.ADDRESS1,ADDR1.ADDRESS1, I get the correct results, but the query is very slow.
    I looked at the log and there is no second left outer join* at all, but the results are correct!!!. I have attached the log sequence.

    1) Have you used dfferent joins for the 2 versions of the addr table (origianal and alias).
    i.e. one joins on bus_addr_id to employer and
    the other joins to mail_addr_id to employer - *+{color:#ff0000}YES{color}+*
    2) do both have left outer join specified? - *+{color:#ff0000}YES{color}+*
    3) can you run employee, business_addrss query once
    then run employee, mail_addrss query once separately, to see if the individual queries give correct results? - *+{color:#ff0000}YES, I get the correct results{color}+*
    4) also check if the business_addrss and mail addrss in the logical employer table are mapped to different LTSs - *+{color:#ff0000}YES, they are{color}+*

  • Goods receipt - Tricky situation

    Could you please help me find a solution for this tricky situation. We have a contract in a different country (island) and we procure goods locally and ship it to the island and the shipment usually takes about 6 weeks. Also, we buy these goods through a middle man and our terms of payment with them is 14 days. Now, we want to be able to do our goods receipt as soon as the goods leave from here so that we can post invoice and pay our vendor in time and at the same time we want to block the stock in the system until the goods actually reach the island.
    Please could you suggest any movement type that can be used to achieve this.

    Forget about Island and Middle man.
    Your business is your Client and Your business operations are main to committed source for your records.
    As per situation you mentioned - Its understood - that as long as material left to island you don't want to record and pay to supplier.
    In this case and more importantly if this the agreement with middle man - go for consignment stock.
    Whenever you are loading materials to island, make a consumption/to own stock from consignment stock and pay the Supplier. - This your first requirement fulfilled.
    Secondly, there is no need for block stock in your inventory until material reaching Island. Because the consignment stock already consumed and recorded.
    Now for sending this tock to island - follow Sales process to sale stock to your customer.

  • Selection in table with Master Column

    Hi,
    can anybody explain me how selection works in table with MasterColumn (TreeByNestingTableColumn)?
    I've created a table with several columns and the "master" one behaves differently from others.
    First of all, leaf elements of master column are not clickable (i.e. I don't receive notification "onLeadSelect" from the table, when user clicks in the cell of leaf element of the column). With expandable elements I receive loadchildren event and can react on selection.
    I'm using TextView as cell editor, will try LinkToAction, may be it will resolve situation, but it's rather workaround as solution
    Second, getLeadSelection doesn't work anymore for the table - it works with indexes of top level elements only.
    However onLeadSelect action brings me selected row number, which I somehow should map to the tree.
    I.e. when I get "25" as selected element, I recursively traverse context node to find 25th element. Which is rather slow operation as for any selection I have to reiterate whole structure and I hope that visual appearance is similar to context element order.
    May be there is simplier ways to get selected element by its index in "flat" list?
    And one another strange thing: first click on the table sends me onLeadSelect "0", but highlight points to the element user clicked - not necessary first one.
    Context node is "single" selection, initLeadSelect=true,
    selection = 0..1 (with 1..1 setTreeSelection doesn't work - method I want to use to be able to select a node in hierarchy on my own)
    all quite similar to other tables I have, which works well. Just the problems with the table, where Master Column is used.

    U can either
    1) create a tablespace with the same name in destination where you are trying to import.
    2) get the ddl of the table, modify the tablespace name to reflect the existing tablespace name in destination and run the ddl in the destination database, and run your import command with option ignore=y--> which will ignore all the create errors.

    For some reason IE6 seems to be doubling the numbers I assign as my

    trash this whole idea and go with a old fashioned table.

    Its an IE6 float/margin bug. If you add a margin in the same
    direction
    as the float IE6 will double it. Add display: inline; to the
    css styles,
    as below, to counter-act this problem.

    Have a look at program RSDEMO01 (available in the controls examples of the workbench). It demonstrates an OLE connection to Excel.
    To know which excel objects, methods and properties to use it is a good idea to use the excel macro recorder - just do what you want your program to do and then translate the resulting VB code to ABAP OLE.
    For the import of the clipboard data you can use CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>CLIPBOARD_IMPORT. In the result table, iirc, there  is one line for each imported line and within the line the cell values are separated by tab. So there is some work left - it might be a good idea t import the data column by column.
    It has been some time when I did this for a former client of me - so unfortunately I do not have the code any more.

                             I'm facing an issue while printing an ALV report which has around 22 columns .If i reduce the column display in the code . I'm able to print but not with 22 columns.. I have used Line-size = 1023 and line-count = 60 , but still the problem persists .
    I also searched in SDN with similar issue but managed to get only the above solution which is not working .
    Any other ways of doing it , kindly suggest .

    175 characters is the maximum number of characters that can be generated in a line of a spool (next characters are stored on the next line of the spool). When the spool is printed, these line feeds are respected.
    What is possible (I don't know) is that ALV chooses its own format type instead of the format type you have chosen when you run your program in background. To check that, just look at spool attributes (SP01).

  • Problem with checkbox column in matrix

    I have a little problem with checkbox column in matrix.
    Column is binded to the UserData.
    It has ValOn="Y", ValOff="N".
    I use C++. It is wird problem. In matrix I have 10 columns - scrollbar role and if You want see checkbox column, You must role to the right. If this column is on the screen, and I use:
    checkcell->PutChecked(VARIANT_TRUE);
    then the checkbox is cheched, and if the checkbox isn`t on the screen and I use this comment - it nothing happening.
    I tried to use ValOn="Y", PutChecked...
    The problem i solved if the column is on the screen - if the column is first in matrix or second, but if it`s last I have a big problem.
    My column with checkbox is not editable, but I tried to make it editable, check it, and then make it uneditable - the same efect.
    How can I solve it ?

    I am not sure about your problem, but here is an example of how to use checkbox in UI API.
    First, create the matrix with checkbox column in Screen painter, and the output is an xml file, like this. Type as 121 indicates that it is a check box.

    Second, bind the column to table from DB. This is a bug of 2004 Screen Painter, so if you are using 2005 Screen Painter, there is no problem.
    Third, when you open the form, you can check and uncheck the cell.
    BTW, please set the editable of the column to true.

  • Report with multiplying columns  and WITH clause

    I saw sth strange in my report. I assume that it could happens very often.
    I have report with few columns which two of them ar most complicated (many joins subqueries aggreagations on joined values etc.) These two columns (i.e C3,C4) should be multiplied (C3*C4).
    When i do pure report without multiplying only columns C1,C2,C3,C4 everything is ok - duration about 15 sec. but... when I put next column on report which multiply these columns (in Answers C5=C3*C4)
    I wait 3-4 minutes and my database hungs :(. After investigation I saw that in first case to databese goes pure "SELECT" statement it means:
    "Select ... as C1, ... as C2, max(...) as C3, sum(xxx)... C4 from yyy,sss,ttt WHERE aaa"
    but in second case BI uses WITH clause it means:
    WITH SAWITH0 AS
    ( Select ... as C1, ... as C2, max(...) as C3, sum(xxx)... C4 from yyy,sss,ttt WHERE aaa )
    SELECT SAWITH0.C1 as C1,
    SAWITH0.C2 as C2,
         SAWITH0.C3 as C3,
         SAWITH0.C4 as C4,
         SAWITH0.C3*SAWITH0.C4 as C5 FROM SSS
    and this statement is long runninq query and kills my database :(.
    I checked that SQL like this:
    Select ... as C1, ... as C2, max(...) as C3, sum(xxx)... C4, max(...)*sum(xxx)... As C5 from yyy,sss,ttt WHERE aaa" -
    runs few times faster than that above
    I know that I can do this multiply in business model layer but sometimes users can multiply(or other operations) on columns in reports without my knowledge and it kills my db :(. Where is bug? Why SQLs with WITH clause takes so much db time?

    WITH clause or Subquery Factoring allows the set of data to be reused multiple times within the SQL. Oracle will usually materialize the data into a temporary table (you will see it if you take an explain plan of the SQL).
    I would be surprised if it was the actual WITH clause that was causing the performance issue, however you can test this by turning the WITH clause feature off. Go to the Physical model, right mouse click on your Database > Properties > Features Tab, scroll down to WITH_CLAUSE_SUPPORTED and switch it off.
    I'd be interested to know if you do see actual improvement.

  • BO xi 3.1 u2013 schedule a template for multiple reports with different column

    Hi,
    I need to migrate the existing reports from SQL Server Reporting Services to BO, and the column order in the report is very important to the clients since clients have existing code to ingest these reports into their database. Now I want to schedule a single template with different parameters for all reports in BO, or create a single template with lot of parameters for all reports. My question is how I might use one template to create multiple reports with different column orders in the reports?
    For example, client A has the following column order in their report: firstName, LastName, DateBirth, SSN. Client B has the following column order in their report: SSN, DateBirth, LastName, FirstName. Can I use one template to create these multiple reports?

    The only approach I can think of is to create a template report which uses variables
    For each column you would need to variable
    v_columnAName and v_columnAValue
    v_columnAName would have a if statement in it
    =if([client]="clientA" or [client]="clientC";NameOf([firstName]);if([client]="clientB";NameOf([SSN]);NameOf([lastName]));
    v_columnA would have a if statement in it
    =if([client]="clientA" or [client]="clientC";[firstName];if([client]="clientB";[SSN],[lastName]));
    This would only work when you had a small set of clients.
    This might be more managable if it was done in the universe
