Trigger chain if 2 processes are raised
Hello experts,
There are 3 process chains (A, B, C) and C should run only if A and B are finished.
I have used the AND collector before but AFAIK this works only for processes within a chain (as opposed to 3 independent chains).
What I would like to do now is:
- create two events in SM62 (A_DONE, B_DONE)
- add an ABAP at the end A and B that triggers the events
- add an ABAP at the beginning of C that checks if both events are raised
Is this the best way to do it?
I have already found BP_EVENT_RAISE to raise an event... how can I check in ABAP if an event has been raise? Does anyone have a simple code snippet for this (raise and detect) by chance?
Thanks!
Gerrit
Dear Gerrit,
This logic is good!!!

Process chain stops - previous processes are green
Hi All,
We have a process chain that loads our master data each night. It chain is mostly made up of infopackages (mostly full loads) and the change run for those objects. We recently upgraded from 3.5 to BI7, SP16.
Since the upgrade, this chain, and a few others just seem to stop. They will start, and successfully complete some of the processes in the chain (all green), but then will not move on to the next process. The next process will not be yellow, it just won't start. The overall status of the chain is yellow.
I am 100 percent sure there are no other chains running during this time frame. This chain has been running for over 4 years in production, and we have never encountered this issue.
Last night, I removed the chain from the schedule, and then rescheduled. I'm not sure if that is going to prevent us from having this issue. I have also set the priority to high.
Should this prevent us from encountering this issue again? I have searched OSS and found some related notes, but we are on a higher support pack than what is in the notes, so they are already applied.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
CharlaThe first thing that I'd recommend is to look at the Start Process Variants for the Process/Local Chains that are not starting. Specifically, I would check to see if the scheduling in those Start Process Variants are set to Direct Scheduling with Immediate Start or set to Start Using Meta Chain or API. It is possible that the conversion from BW 3.x to BW 7.x change the parameters of the scheduling withing the Start Process Variants, even though they were not physically changed and transported.
My recollection is, when we upgraded Support Package Stacks, we had some Local Chains just change on their own where the Immediate Start checkbox mysteriously become unchecked. -
Hi Experts,
We are running APO DP process chain with parallel processing in our company, we are experiencing some issues regarding run time of process chain, need your help on below points;
- What are the ways we can optimize process chain run time.
- Special points we need to take care of in case of parallel processing profiles used in process chain.
- Any specific sequence to be followed for different processes in process chain - if there is some best practice followed.
- Any notes suggesting ways to improve system performance for APO version 7 with different enhancement packs 1 and 2.
Any help will be really appreciated.
RegardsHI Neelesh,
There are many ways to optimize performance of the process chains (background jobs) in APO system.
Firstly I would recommend you to identify the pain areas (steps) which are completing with more runtimes. Then each one of the step has got different approaches to decrease the runtime.
Like you may end up with steps like infopackage executions, DTPs, DP mass processing jobs etc which might be running with more runtimes. So now target each one of them differently and find out the ways to optimize. At the same time the approach you follow should be technically possible with basis perspective (system load and utilization) as well.
And coming to parallel processing, you can use parallel processing for different for different jobs. You can further r explore on the same using parallel processing. Like loading an infocube, mass processing, infopackage execution, DTP, TSCOPY etc.

How to determine which processes are using a module?
I want to find out which processes are using a kernel module.
However this info is shown neither with ``lsmod'' nor in
/sys/modules/<mod_name>/.
It's needed to reload certain modules which are acting buggy,
in a bash script. Right now I just keep a list of processes which
use the module and try to kill'em all, not exactly a beautiful
solution.
To work around it I compiled a kernel with
``CONFIG_MODULE_FORCE_UNLOAD=y'', however actually
trying to unload anything with this results in an unstable system.
Suggestions? After successfully syncing the configuration database I ran the configuration compliance job once more, however with the same (misleading) results. Cross-checking the configuration reveals that none of the devices marked as compliant are actually having the "ip helper-address" configured.
Maybe it is something wrong with the input data I specified for the compliance template (ref step 1-6 in my first post)?
Or maybe the Compliance Jobs arent the best ways to determine whether or not my devices are having the "ip helper-address" configuration defined? -

There is a CRM job which executes LSMW and I am facing a strange problem during the IDOC posting the error "Pre Settings for IDoc inbound processing are missing error". Can anyone please tell me how to correct this error?
Thanks in advance.

BPEL Processes are not showing in BPEL Console after OPMN restart
Hi All,
BPEL Processes are not showing in BPEL Console after OPMN restart. It was showing earlier before restart.
Can some one help on this?
ThanksVikky,
Are you using 10g?
If BPELConsole is up but you don't see any process, you can go to the log files and see what is the problem.
It might relates to permissions, or DB issues etc....

PR's are raised for components(PM2 Secondary Packing) are not in BOM
Dear Gurus
It was found that PR's are raised for components(PM2 Secondary Packing) are not in BOM
after MRP run. In MRP4 view of the material (Material type ZVER Primary Packaging material) i found that :
<u>SLoc MRP indicator# </u>
Reorder point 0 & Replenishment qty 0
Can u pls explain how to solve this problem??
Ragesh pkHi Ragesh,
Do u mean to say after the MRP run for header material, PR is created for Components which are defined in Header material BOM, if so
1.Please check Dep requirements created along with PR for components, this ill give pegged requirement (Source header Material).
or
use where used list to find out header material list inwhich , the component has included as BOM item.(CS15)
or
The component may be a followup material for another component.
Please try and come back

Hi, We are running domino application in windows server 2008r2 standard virtual machine, we are facing High RAM utilization issue, but there is no such process are running. Machine is running in ESXI host, most of the time it shows high RAM utilization.
We upgraded the ram from 6 to 8 GB, but still facing the issue,
Where as other VMs working fine.
Need a help to find out the issue.Hi Sathish sampath,
You can use Resource monitor and Task Manager->Performance to monitor the RAM memory utilization, I also recommend you to download the
RAMMap to get more detailed memory information.
For more detailed information to troubleshoot this issue, please also refer to this thread:

Java related processes are not comingup
Hi,
We have copied our current kernel into a new library and had switched to new kernel library. There after, the processes, DISPATCHER, SERVER0, SDM AND JCONTROL are not coming up. Remaining all processes are normal. Afterwards, we had revert back to the same old kernel and even then there is no change in the situation. What could I do to make the Java processes up?
We are on V5R4.
Thanks
KiranHello Kiran,
sorry for the inconvenience but note 904977 didn't told you all the things. I updated the note by today but it is not yet translated. If you apply the latest R3OPT file as described in note 904977 and you have an Java instance running as add-in, then you have to run following command after APYR3KRN:
APYJ2EELIB SID()
BTW, the file R3OPT is not a real patch (unless you can find the file in the patch download area). It leads always into a completely new kernel library. You may not apply this file to an existing kernel library. After the APYJ2EELIb, the ABAP and Java instances are using the same kernel library. If you do not prefer this you can create also a 2nd library from the R3OPT file for the Java instance. But both parts have to fit together.
Best regards,
René Lang

How to see what processes are using my memory?
I recently added more RAM to my system and I always keep Activity Monitor running with the memory usage icon on the Dock to see how much Lion and my programs use.
I noticed that even several CS5 programs running at the same time won't use that much, the program I've seen uses the most is Aperture, using anywhere from 500MB on start to 2.5GB while viewing--not editing--photos.
My questions is, when my system is running normally it uses from a quarter to half the total memory available but just now it's using more than three quarters and it's running not even half programs I use everyday. I quickly added up the memory being used and it's just missing out A LOT. I'm adding a screenshot of Activity Monitor for you to see.
I now that restarting the system (or by using the purge command in Terminal) will free up memory but this really puzzles me and I'd really like to know what's happening--BTW, even though several GB are missing, the computer is nowhere nears slow, at least.
Where are all the other processes using the rest of the memory?
I'm using OS X 10.7.3 Server with 16GB of RAM on an iMac.
Thanks for all your help,
Gustavo. You will never be able to get those numbers to add up. This topic has come up before. Examples:
Memory used by unknown processes
Where is my memory?
And others. You cannot use the numbers in that display to add up. Even doing top in terminal produces conflicting numbers. Many process are dynamic and may be missed in these displays.
FWIW, here's an apple article on the Activity Monitor memory display:
Using Activity Monitor to read System Memory and determine how much RAM is being used
Editorial: In my opinion I do not recommend always running Activity Monitor (or top). The constant poling and display does have some affect on performance and cpu utilization. That's why it always usually appears near the top of the process list when sorted by percent cpu unless really outweighed by something much bigger. -
Failed meta chain maintenance in Process chain in SAP BI
Hi all,
I have a Process chain having the meta chain of master data population. When successful , proceeds with the further steps in process chain. It has been scheduled in midnight.
After monitoring the PC , found the error in the master meta chain , so i repeat the step.
Here , after success of meta chain all steps gets running down the line till the end step in PC.
I do not want to re-run the steps below meta chain after repeat step.
Any Ideas to ignore the re-run ??Hi,
If your Process is still running(Yellow color status) then right click it and go to Schduled Jobs. On this you will go to Job Overview there you can press STOP.
Else go to the SM37, there you can go and select your process using your process ID and STOP it.
And if you want to kill the complete process chain then go for Remove from Schedule.
Different Ways to stop process chain
1)SM37 -->Kill Job
2)SM50/sm66- ->Kill process
3)RSPC>Job Log>Make the process RED forecefully.
4)RSPC>Process chain> main Menu"Remove from Scheduling" OR
5)se37-->RSPC_API_CHAIN_INTERRUPT
give RFC BW system name(technical) and process chain name(technical)
Steps 1 -3 stops the chain running in process
Steps 4-5 stops the chain AFTER the current job which is running is completed as sucessful or Failure by nature.
Hope this helps you. -
BPEL Processes are Hanging.......
Hi,
I am using BPEL 10.1.2.0.2 version. The logic am implementing in BPEL process is a frontend application will invoke BPEL process.BPEL will take some inputs from frontend and invokes a procedure in database using DbAdapter.BPEL will pull the output of the procedure and will pass the same to Frontend.
The logic being implemented in procedures is select and update depends on the requirement.
We completed our development and moved to UAT and everything is running fine. From past one week we are facing a problem that BPEL processes are hanging when they are invoked both from BPEL console and Frontend. The process neither displaying any output nor throwing any exception.
After bouncing the BPEL servers everything is coming to normal.I didn't found any error log in both domain.log and OraBPEL~OC4j_BPEL~default_island.log files.
Our BPEL Environment has 2 BPEL Mid Tiers connected via a loadbalancer
whether it could be related to cache size or datasource connections ????
Please suggest what could be the problem...........
Thanks
ChandraCheck the timeouts on the firewalls. Also look at Dead Connection Detection (DCD) on the database server. You will need to turn on your DCD to keep your JDBC connections alive.
