Trigger popup when iOS app is suspended?

I have an app that is suspended on an iPad home button being pressed so it doesn't exit completely.
I would like the app to be able to trigger a popup on the iPad every few hours if some action is pending. Is that possible? I know how to trigger PUSH notifications from a server if connected but what I am after is if the app goes into suspend mode (Home button has been hit) and some action hasn't occured yet then the user gets a daily reminder that they need to do something. This is if the iPad has no connection to the outside world so needs to be triggered from the suspended app rather than using the PUSH notification from a server?
Any ideas on how to achieve this would be greatly recieved,

I know with shared objects if you install an app, save some data then install a newer version via flash all data is erased if you however update the app through the app store the data is saved, for your situation this is not possible since its an internal app. You can save the data externally to a server this way every time the app launches it could check for the correct data but of course this is much more troublesome and time consuming.

I'm saving files in AMF format in the application storage directory (app-storage:/). This works great, but the fles get deleted when the application is updated.
I'm dsitributing the app internally in the company via our intranet (ad-hoc). The users do not delete the app, they simply redownload the new version.

How to create a Notification in the Action center when the app is in the suspended state...?

I want to send a notification to the action center of Windows phone 8.1, when I get a callback from the lower layer code which I have registered for(I have implemented). I am able to do it when my app is in the foreground. How can I achieve the same when
the app is in the background.(ie. in the suspended state)

Yes Franklin, your understanding is correct. But I cannot use Push Notification, as it require a cloud server to send the raw notification.
Is there any other method, which can be used to trigger the app (ie... the background service registered) to send a toast message, when app is in background. Trigger should be initiated by a lower layer service running as different process. I am looking
for something similar to "Broadcast Receiver" in Android...

The Background Task is the only way to make things work in the background in Windows phone, it have some triggers we can use, such as

SOLUTION! (NO NEED TO RESET YOUR IPHONE SETTING!)
I have the same issue for the last two weeks. But i have already managed to solve the issue all by myself. When i go to Settings > Cellular > below the tab "use cellular data for:", i turned off some apps which i didnt want to use with cellular data. As soon as i go back to Settings, and then i went back to Cellular, the apps which i had switched off earlier, automatically turned back on.
Here's the solution:
Either you're using wifi or cellular data, first of all you're gonna hafto turn on the cellular data use for App Store. Once you have turned it on, go to App Store application. Update ALL the apps which have new updates available. If it asks you to log in your App Store, just do so. If there's something wrong with your debit or credit card information, it will ask you to update to a different card. Just do what it asks. Put in a new credit or debit card info and fill in the forms provided. The card you're using must be usable and has usable balance in it. Let's say atleast $10 to $20. As soon as it confirms your card successfully, the app updates will start automatically. Continue to update all the apps. After all updates are finished, go back to Settings > Cellular. Try to switch on or off some apps for data use and recheck.
Try it yourself! Have a nice day and don't put a blame on Apple for this.

What does it mean "Will Install" when I tried to install/sync an iOS app in iTunes and how long is the wait until the app is installed/Sync on my iOS device

I am testing an iOS app developed by my team. When I tried to update the new version, I kept receiving the "Will Install" status. What do I have to do to get it installed as soon as I sync the device? If I have to wait for whatever reasons, how long do I have to wait for the status to change. I am using iTunes 11.0.1 (12). I found that I had "restrictions" turned on under general settings. Turned them off, rebooted the iPad and it was able to install apps from iTunes.

Invalid Credentials when trying to login to iPrint iOS App

I've recently setup a fresh install of the iPrint Appliance 1.1 and installed all security patches.
Original setup was iPrint appliance was SSL but syncing to our edirectory server was not, and I was unable to login with the iOS app. This was in Evaluation mode so I am unsure if the password being encrypted over SSL from the appliance then trying to match on the eDir server not on ssl caused that issue.
However I then installed our license, and configured LDAP sync to be over SSL, but I am still gettin the same "Invalid Credentials" message. That being said, our current license only entitles us to the appliance and iprint desktop, not iPrint Mobile whereas when in evaluation mode you have access to iPrint Mobile.
My question here is, should I be expecting it to say "Invalid Credentials" even though I do not have any iPrint Mobile licenses, or should there be a different message or result?

When updating or purchasing an iOS app a dialog will appear stating this app and over ten others cannot be downloaded and then disappear and allow me to continue. How can I get this dialog to cease?

A dialog will continue to appear on both my iPhone 4 and iPad (1st Gen) when downloading an update or purchasing a new app from the iOS app store. The dialog stats that "Example app and 11 others could not be downloaded" and then once I tap "Ok" it will allow me to continue updating or purchasing all applications including the example app listed. My iTunes Store (Apple ID) account is fine and I've tried resetting and restarting but not restoring. I'd like to resolve the issue without a restore if possible. I'd like to get the dialog to cease. As I mentioned it is not tied to one device but my account when updating or purchasing applications.

If you'll check the reviews for the recent (October 3) update, you'll see that this is a widely reported bug in the latest version of the app. As far as I can tell, there's nothing to do but contact the developers and let them know what's going on (since they may never see the Apple reviews).

Explain multitask & double-home tap. My apps arent suspended when I switch

I'm using a 3GS with iOS4.
Why are Apple and other techies claiming multitask works on 3GS with iOS4?
Unless I'm missing something, I say these claims FALSE, or the multitasking only works if the app is designed to use the new multitask ability of iOS4. But according to APple and this new OS4, WHAT EXACTLY IS MULTITASKING?
On my 3GS running iOS4, when I double tap home, the app is suspended, allowing me to look at other apps in a list. If I switch to another app "B" and then return to app "A", app "A" RESTARTS. So it was not in a "suspend" state.
This is NO DIFFERNT from pressing home to exit the app and going to another, and then returning. Some apps already save state when I press home ONCE so when I return to them after exiting, they resume from where I left off. But not ALL apps.
So what does this new iOS4 multi-task feature suppose to allow you to do on a 3GS?

Maybe because it does? iOS4 has new programming API's to enable multitasking. Apps that want to offer multitasking need to be updated by their developers.
It doesn't magically happen, in the same way that older Windows applications don't magically make use of brand new Windows 7 features without being updated.

I just bought an iPhone 5 on the 21st of March. I ate through 850 MB's in 12 days. I read up on the issue of data consumption looking for tips to conserve data. I did not know there was a problem.
This morning I found out that I was leaking data very little, but daily it accumulates. I am in Barcelona, Spain. I do not have a contract, I am on a prepaid Yoigo carrier.
I happened upon an article/blog by Robert Parks at snnyc.com "problems persist in ios 6.1.2.".
Although his situation did not relate to me, I tried a few tests on my own to see if I could stop the data leak without turning off my celular data and possibly push notifications, I think I found a solution that might help someone:
In ios 6.1.3 goto Settings/Mail, Contacts,Calenders and scroll down to Calendars and turn off " New Invitation Alerts" and also turn off "Shared Calendar Alerts".
My Cellular Network Data seems to be behaving. I only see a change in MB used when I open an ap that uses data.

Standard troubleshooting steps are reset, restore, restore as new. Have you tried the reset? Hold down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go

Language Bar appears when launching apps on RD Client on iOS devices

When using the RD Client app on iOS devices to launch programs from a Remote Resource Feed we always get a language bar appearing on the screen. The language bar doesn't appear when using RemoteApp from a PC or if I login into the server directly, only when
using the iOS app.
The language bar also shows the default language as English US which is not the default. In Language screen in Control Panel we only have English UK listed. The Welcome screen and New user setting is also all set to English UK, the only place I can see English
US is in the Override Windows display language drop down menu in the Advanced Settings.
I am assuming the language bar is showing because it some how thinks English US is the default but not sure how to remove this. The language on the iOS devices are also English UK.
I have tried re-creating profiles and also actually adding the English US keyboard then removing it but neither worked.
The RemoteApp server is Windows 2012 R2.
Any help/ideas appreciated, thanks.

Please try following script to control and hide the language bar.
You can also control the language bar by using a logon script to set the ShowStatus value. Here is a sample script to disable the language bar:

Skype Credit & Contacts not Appearing in iOS App, when they are on Desktop.

Hi, I am having the same issue that many people have raised, but there appear to be not suggestions as to what shoudl be done. I have an MS Accoount which is used to sign into Skype. Destop is signed in and shows credit. iOS shows credit £0.00. Desktop has about 20 contacts. iOS has 1. I have uninstalled & re-installed the iOS app. I think it may possibly relate to the Skype Account vs. Microsoft Account, but this is unlikley. When I try and try and reset the Skype Account Password to the same as the Microsoft Account Password it won't let me so I presume these are in fact the same thing. Anyway Skype/Microsoft will no longer allow me to change passwords since I've exceeded the number allowed within 24 hours. Any advice will be greatfully recieved. Peter PS. Now Skype App (OSX Desktop), with Micrsoft Account, will not let me sign in, but I am able to use the Account (to update this Message). OK. At last. There were two accounts, a Microsoft Account and a Sype Account. They were completely seperate, and thus the problem. At some point I must have used the same password for both. Hoever can I make a few suggestions.... 1) If you copy & past the code for password re-set be careful not to get leading/training spaces because these appear to be significant. 2) The message when you enter an incorrect Password is the Skype is not recognising the User Name AND the Password. Surely it's the combination that is incorrect? 3) Please do not use Skype to market Microsoft Accounts. Case Closed.

IOS worse performance when other apps in background OS

I have seen this asked before. I notice my application is not quite as smooth when other apps are alive in the background of iOS.
I am guessing it's simply running low on ram and there is nothing i can do about it? I am rendering in GPU
if i close some or all, it runs fine.

I think the problem is this: when doing parallel DML, Oracle uses direct path reads to read the data. To make sure the data being read is consistent though it needs to checkpoint blocks it is going to read. CR enqueue seems to be used to synchronize CKPT with PX slaves reading the data. It's going like this: PX slave requests CKPT to checkpoint a range of blocks it's about to read (and possibly enqueues on CR in order to be able to do so,) CKPT in turn orders DBWR to write all dirty blocks in the requested range, waits for this write to complete and signals PX slave that the blocks are consistent and can be read. Repeat as necessary. Now, with really large buffer cache and good portion of it dirty due to recent DML on source tables, busy CPUs and relatively slow writes this checkpointing might build up into a major performance inhibitor when these recently touched tables are being read in direct path mode: you have 8 cores and 8 parallel slaves, so CKPT, DBWR and pretty much all other background processes are competing with them for CPU time and I/O bandwidth (they all have the same priority, so your PX slaves can easily evict CKPT or DBWR from CPU only to immediately go back to sleep on an enqueue held by a process it just preempted.)
Things to try here:
1. do a checkpoint before running the insert and see if this makes any difference;
2. lower the degree of parallelism to 5-6;
3. If you have more than one DBWR configured - configure db_writer_processes back to 1.
