Trouble importing data from Oracle 7.0.16.6.2 to Oracle 9i in SQL developer
I am trying to backup my data on another Oracle Server. The version of Oracle I use for my active server is 7.0.16.6.2 and I want to back up to the main 9i server. First of all, can I do this? I can't connect directly to this old version of Oracle, so I've ran an export... but I can't seem to import it to the other server. I have been using SQL developer and when I try to run the file I get an error saying invalid identifier. I already have the schema set up on the new server and really only care about updating the rows. Thank you in advance for any advice.
First of all a tip: for moving between databases, use EXP/IMP. The guys on the Database - Export/Import/SQL Loader & External Tables forum can help you further if needed.
Regarding your failed attempt: how did you export, and how did you try to import in sqldev? At what statement exactly do you get the error?

What is the easiest way to export all tables data from Oracle to MS SQL Server?
Hello MS,
I would like to export all tables from Oracle 11.2 to MS SQL Server 2012 R1.
Using the tool "Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant v6.0 for Oracle" did not work for me because there are too many warnings and errors regarding the schema creation (MS cannot know it because they are not the schema designer). My idea is
to leave/skip the schema creation to the application designer/supplier and instead concentrate on the Oracle data export and MS SQL data import.
What is the easiest way to export all tables data from Oracle to MS SQL Server quickly?
Is it:
- the „MS SQL Import and Export Data“ Tool
- the “MS SQL Integration Services” Tool
- not Oracle dump *.dmp format because it is a propritery binary format
- flat file *.csv (delimited format)
Thanks!Hi lingodingo,
If you want to directly export all tables from Oracle database to SQL Server, I suggest you use SQL Server Import and Export Wizard. Because you just need to follow the wizard with GUI, this is the easiest way.
If you want to make some modification for the tables‘ data before loading to SQL Server, I suggest you use SQL Server Integration Services package. For more details, please refer to the following similar thread:

Migrating data from Oracle 9i to SQL Server 2005
I am new to both. I need to first migrate data from oracle to sql server. After this I need to create a daily nightly batch process to insert new records from oracle to sql server into that table.
As my knowledge in SQL server is zero. Can somebody help me how I can accomplish this.
Somebody told me that I can use sql server import/export to do initial data dump into sql server and after that I can create a link in in oracle to do new iserts for new records. does any one have some example on this. I will really apprecite this if someone can give me step by step example. ThanksI have been to SQL Server training, but my SQL server databases are off the shelf system, so I don't have to muck with them. Anyway, Sql Server is just MS Access on steroids, so some of the same concepts apply. You need to create an external table links to oracle. The following tidbits I found by googling might help you.

Guide me for exporting and importing data from oracle 10g to oracle 9i
I have been trying export and import options in oracle but m not very clear about the procedure..
Also when i am logging in as Scott/tiger i am facing an error
ORA 1542 - tablespace 'USER' is offline and cannot allocate space in it.how to resolve itHello,
I see two questions.
ORA 1542 - tablespace 'USER' is offline and cannot allocate space in it.how to resolve it About the error ORA-01542 you have to bring the Tablespace USERS online:
http://www.error-code.org.uk/view.asp?e=ORACLE-ORA-01542
If you cannot bring it online you may have to Recover it first.
I have been trying export and import options in oracle but m not very clear about the procedure..About the Export in 10g and Import in 9i (9.2 or 9.0.1 ?), you have to export with the Export utility of the Target Database (the lowest Database version here: 9.0.1 or 9.2) then, you have to Import to the Target Database using its Import utility (in 9.0.1 or 9.2).
The following Note of MOS may guide you:
Compatibility Matrix for Export And Import Between Different Oracle Versions [Video] [ID 132904.1]
NB: You cannot use here the DATAPUMP.
Hope this help.

How to get data from Oracle using Native SQL in SAP.. Problem with date
Hi Masters.
I'm trying to get data from an Oracle DB. I was able to connect to Oracle using tcode DBCO. The connetion works fine
I wrote this code and it works fine without the statement of where date > '01-09-2010'
But i need that statement on the select. I read a lot about this issue, but no answer.
My code is (this code is in SAP ECC 6.0)
DATA: BEGIN OF datos OCCURS 0,
id_numeric(10),
component_name(40),
comuna(10),
record_id(10),
status,
sampled_date(10),
END OF datos.
DATA: c TYPE cursor.
EXEC SQL.
connect to 'LIM' as 'MYDB'
ENDEXEC.
EXEC SQL.
SET CONNECTION 'MYDB'
ENDEXEC.
EXEC SQL PERFORMING loop_output.
SELECT ID_NUMERIC, COMPONENT_NAME, COMUNA, RECORD_ID, STATUS, SAMPLED_DATE
into :datos from lims.SAMP_TEST_RESULT
where date > '01-09-2010'
ENDEXEC.
EXEC SQL.
disconnect 'MYDB'
ENDEXEC.
How can i get the data from that date?? If i delete the where statemet, the program works well, it takes 30 mins and show all the data, I just need the data from that date.
Any help
RegardsPlease refer the example in this link which deals with Oracle date format.
You can finnd a command DECODE which is used for date formats. If you have a look at whole theory then you will get an idea.

Transfer data from Oracle 7 to SQL server 2005
Hello guys,
I am new in Oracle and I need some help from you:
I have an Oracle database 7 and I need to transfer some tables into MS SQL Server 2005.
Is there any ORACLE utility (compatible with ver 7) to help me in this task?
If not, what is the way to trasfer data from a Oracle database 7 to SQL Server 2005?
Thank in advanceSQL Server can access Oracle database via the Linked Database feature however I do not know if you could find a Oracle 7 database compatiable Oracle client to use with a SQL Server 2005 database. i would not even try to configure this.
What I suggest is you use SQLPlus to spool out delimited data into flat files, copy/FTP etc ... those flat files to your SQL Server box, and use BCP to load the data into SQL Server.
There have been numberous posts of generating delimited flat files from Oracle data posted here on the forum but here is one method that will work on version 7:

Generating hourly report from oracle database using sql developer .Help
I am working on SQL Developer 1.5.1, i need to prepare hourly record of the activity on the database, for that i have a sql query that gives me the report as per selected columns on hourly basis.I need to prepare 24 reports a day.
Each time i have to go to the query , change the date as per hours like form 22:06:2011 10:00:00 to 22:06:2011 11:00:00 and get the report and export it in excel.
I want to automate the script so that whenever i run the script , it just asks me the date and runs the script 24 times and fetch me the hourly report of whole day.
the query syntax is something like this
Select
from
where
And.......................
And...................
And......................
And req date between to-date( 22:06:2011 10:00:00) And to-date(22:06:2011 11:00:00)
Order by 7,1,2,3,4,5
Is there any possibility that i can automate the script to automatically change the hour itself and generate a report in excel 24 times?please share if you have any idea on this.
Looking forward for a response. This gives you data for the whole day and the first column tells you which hour data it is,
SELECT 'HOUR' || TO_CHAR ( req_date, 'HH24') AS hour_num,
col1,
col2,
col3
FROM table_name
WHERE TRUNC (req_date) = TO_DATE ( '22/06/2011', 'DD/MM/YYYY')G. -

Insert Data from Oracle to MS-SQL and back from MS-SQL to Oracle !
Dear Gurus,
Good day,
I have Oracle db 10.1.0.2 on Sun Solaris 9 and want it to communicate online with an MS-SQL server DB on a windows machine.
Oracle states that i can use the TG4MSQL ( Transparent Gateway for MS-SQL ).
The issue here that this TG4MSQL needs to be installed on a db on WINDOWS then make a DB link from this db to MS-SQL as well as to the original oracle db because TG4MSQL is not available on UNIX ( only in 11g ) !
Is there any way to do this 2-way insert from/to MS-QL & Oracle without creating a new dummy DB for TG4MSQL?
Is there any other ways or methods?
Please advise,
Appreciate your help.
Cheers,
FirasI think you must have mis-read or mis-understood about the Transparent Gateway. I've not worked with the one for MSSQL but have for DB2.
The OTG installs on the server with the 'foreign' (non-Oracle) database. It simply acts as a client to that database, presenting an Oracle interface on the other side - somewhat analogous to ODBC presenting a common interface for connections to various db or db-like products.
As such, it only makes sense that the OTG for MSSQL would only be available for Windows ... Windows is the only platform that MSSQL runs on.
When I was using the OTG for DB2, we simply installed the OTG on the Z/OS system (IBM mainframe) hosting the DB2, then defined a dblink in the Oracle database (that one was running on Windows) to point to it. As far as the Oracle db was concerned, it had no reason to know that the link was pointing to a non-Oracle db. -

Edited by: DBS on Feb 9, 2012 10:21 PMHi,
I found the problem. It was because of the connection string. The format was different for oracle tables.
PFB the format
*cnss.open"Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle.1;Data Source= servername:port/SID;Database= DB;User Id=aaaa;Password=aaaa;"*
And thanks *SH* for quick response.
So closing the thread......

Extracting data from Oracle GL and importing to FDM using ERPI adapter
Hi,
I am also trying to use ERPI adapter to directly extract data from Oracle GL. I am not finding sufficient information on this. It would be great if anyone can help me in this.
I have one more doubt: Can we call the stored procedures in the FDM custom scripts, If so can I get the syntax of the script...I really don't have idea on this FDM part. I was working till now with the Flatfile input, But my client wants to make this change in the existing system. Accessing/Extracting data from Oracle GL. Experts who knows it can pls guide me.
I am using FDM 11.1.2 and ERPI associated with 11.1.2.
Thanks in Advance.
[email protected]Hi,
Is it possible to execute the stored procedures in FDM. Currently we are extracting data from oracle GL using SQl procedures (constaller tool is user to create the inteface) and storing the required data in the intermediate table in oracle GL, From which we are extracting data into a flat file and then loading it to FDM.
So my question: is it possible to invoke the stored procedure from FDM scripts, If so can you pls let me know how to do that...
Thanks In Advance,

Import data from sql server /vice versa
My Database serevr version is 10.1.0.3.0.
Sql Server 2000.
Is it possible to import data from sql server to oracle database?
Also other way around.
I mean import data from Oracle to sql server.
Regards,
DHi,
You can use Heterogeneous Service to do this. This component is free but poor of resources. Simple things you can do with this, complex I really don't know.
Also, to import from sqlserver to oracle you can use Oracle Warehouse Builder, an Oracle ETL tool. But, OWB do not work in other way, oracle to sqlserver.
And why do want to use sqlserver, if you have oracle?
