Trouble importing QT Files in DVD SP

I have a 5 minute clip that I want to export as a Quicktime movie. I am then going to bring it in DVD SP. it is 1440 x 1080i HDV
I selected my Timeline
I went File ---- Export ----- Quicktime Movie.
I kept Current settings, Audio and Video and Chapter Markers/ It is also self contained movie.
I exported it and tried to import it into DVD SP.
It will not. It keeps telling me "Incompatable Format."
Why?
When I bring in a 720 x 480 video, it imports fine.
Thanks in advanc

The HD encoder in DSP ( which hasn't been updated in like 6+ years) wants to see 1280x720 or 1920x1080 in a QT format friendly to 2005.
The only problem being HD-DVD is a dead format so the only option would be SD. The DSP encoder to my knowledge wasn't designed to down-convert HD to SD. Compressor would be the best option available for said task.
If you want to keep your final movie HD you would have to look outside of DSP via Blu-Ray.
Compressor & Toast have some very simple options for BR but be aware your chapter markers may not carry over and BR from Compressor can start to lose quality when you compress for show over 40 minutes in Compressor.

  • Trouble importing LOA files

    Hello,
I've got 300+ laptops that require 2 new AC profiles added and an old profile removed. I've followed the AC profile deployment guide which is relatively straight forward, but when I try to silently import the LOA file using the qctray /importsilently command, nothing happens. The profiles do not appear in AC. However, I can import the LOA file manually using the profile import menu option but the imported profiles do not retain the encryption key. I've tried AC 4.41 and AC 4.52
I called Lenovo support but the rep didn't know where to route my call so someone is supposed to call me back.
Anyone seen this? Is a log file somewhere that can help?

MOV is a wrapper... what is inside the wrapper?

  • Trouble Importing MOV files in adobe premiere pro cs3

    Hi,
I just bought a Canon 60D camera and I am using adobe premiere pro cs3 for the first time.
I tried to import MOV file footages made by my Canon 60D, but it says that my files are not supported.
I don't know what to do!
    Can someone help me?
    Thank you.

    Hi All,
Let me tell you how I solved the XDV9 codec trouble on my Windows 7 system. The solution is rather stunning because I am using completely free software. First download the Shark007 codec pack for your system here: http://shark007.net/forum/Thread-Setup-and-usage . Please be aware that the codec pack installer comes with a toolbar install option so make sure you de-select this option during the installation process. After installation check the MOV tab on the "Settings Application" program. Make sure "use LAV's splitter" is selected for MOV Playback.
Now comes the crazy part... To convert the XDV9 MOV video clips just download Windows Essentials Movie Maker for Windows 7. At this moment more info about this program can be found here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/movie-maker-get-started . Again, make sure to set the right settings during installation otherwise you will be installing a lot of possible unwanted crap like Windows Live Mail, Windows Skydrive etc.
Movie Maker has quite good settings for converting (High Definition or custom settings are supported). Select your clip, or select multiple clips to create an unedited full length clip of all your clips, and then select "create movie". I used the "use recomended settings for this project" settings as it matches the source file resolution and frame rates etc. It is quite some work to convert clips like this but its the only free solution I could find so far.
    Good luck!

  • How can I import .mov file into dvd studio pro?

    Hi,
I have a .mov file and want to but a dvd with menu and chapters. But when I try to import the .mov file into dvd studio pro it says Incompatible format. How can I import my .mov file in to dvd studio pro?

    Two ways…
Transcode into a codec like Pro Res, import into DVDSP and let it do the encoding.
    Or better yet:
Import into Compressor, choose a DVD preset and let Compressor encode. It will make two files, separate video and audio files. Import those into DVDSP.
    Good luck.

  • Importing .ts files into DVD Studio Pro

    Hi,
I've downloaded a MPEG2 file which has a file extension of .ts
DVD Studio Pro and Compressor don't seem to like this file extension. Can anyone tell me the best way to get it into DVD SP please?
I tried importing it into MPEG Streamclip, but there doesn't seem to be a MPEG2 export option there.
    Any help much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Simon

It could be a muxed MPEG file, in which case, you'd need to use MPEG Streamclip to convert to and elementary MPEG-2 (.m2v) video file and an AC3 or AIF audio file. Import the resulting two files into DVD SP.

  • Importing IMovie File into DVD Studio Pro 4

I used to be able to import the index file from an IMovie project into DVD Studio Pro quite happily.
Today the application freezes on the import progress window, with no files appearing in the asset window.
I have to force quit the application to get out of it.
Can anyone advise how to resolve this issue ?
    Power Mac G5 - Dual 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

If you haven't changed anything on your system, then it would appear that you have one of two things.
Most likely, your preference files have be come corrupt, or second, your Application or application resource file for DVD SP have become damaged.
Try first to toss your DVD SP preferences, if this doesn't do it, then you should uninstall DVD SP and then reinstall with all of the updates before trying again.
If you have tried creating a new project from scratch and the problem persists, then read on.
If that doesn't do it, then there's a very slight possiblility, that there may be an issue with the QucikTime files of the OS, and keep in mind, (this is a very remote possibility) you may have to wipe the drive and reinstall the OS and apps. from the original disks, but only after everything else fails, (THIS IS A DRASTIC LAST DITCH EFFORT.)

  • Trouble importing swf files

I would like to embed a .swf file into my catalyst project, but everytime I import a file catalyst crashes if I try to modify or reposition the file. I have tried runing the project just to see if the swf is visable, but get a message saying that there is an error in the code. I am not great at coding anything. I know a bit about HTML and CSS, and am completely stuck with this one.
I have gone to the code screen and this is the error that shows up:
    java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOrBoundsException: -14473
    Resource = Main.mxml
    Path = photohome_Vfx/src
    Location = Unknown
    Type = Flex Problem
I have tried importing several different files, but always get the same results. The files are all photo galleries that were generated using Slideshow Pro and Flash CS3. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hey there,
I use SSP in Catalyst projects. I may not have the answer you're after. But I might be able to offer clues to the solution by showing you what I have that's enabled me to use SSP + Catalyst successfully. I've installed the most up-to-date SSP version. My images are hosted by director. I don't host them on my server.
I open Flash and choose Action Script 3. Then I do all the other stuff you know about. I hit publish and save the .flv, .html, and .swf files on my server. I save them in a directory that holds both SSP files and the Catalyst folders. You know, the ones Catalyst publishes when you hit save to Web.
For Catalyst I use Beta 2. A clean install after removing and deleting Beta 1. I simly make a catalyst file and then hit import media type .swf file. And voila.
Then I publish to Web and when I do this I choose to publish all the Catalyst files into the directory that will get put to the server. Then I go to the server and delete the folder that says "run local." I don't need that on the Web.
If I had an overall suggestion It would be to save your Catalyst projects. Delete Catalyst entirely and re-install it. Then delete SSP and re-install it. This shouldn't take more than 15 minutes of your time. After that...reflect, repent and reboot.
    Peace,
    Jim

    Hi Kevin,
If you had applied Patch 15 earlier and imported the initial files, then no need to upload it again after patch 15.5 it will use same Patch15 initial files.
If you are going directly to SP15 patch5 from 14 or below, check if you are taking correct files. This issue comes when we import wrong files say ERM files into CUP or so.

  • Importing Video Files from DVD and the net onto final cut express 4

    2 questions:
1st: Ive imported a video file downloaded from the net to practice editing, but once I have done that, the video file has no audio? how do I get the audio for those files?
2nd: I had ripped some video files from my university film project onto my laptop, but I cant Import the files into final cut express to further edit it (because it was a group project), because its the wrong format and stuff. How do I fix this and allow it to be imported?
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Cheers

ohk cool, wat about my first problem with the sound not being imported?
Most likely the file is multiplexed. That means the audio and video are rolled into one. Same thing applies as the other post, the file needs to be in a format that FCE recognizes. Streamclip may do it, depending on the type of file of course.

  • Trouble importing .mxf files into Premiere Pro CS6

Having problems importing MXF. file types into my Premiere CS6 project. I will go to import the folder and the yellow loading bar will come up to say that it's importing. Then it will freeze and the color wheeled loading symbol will come up (I'm using a Mac) and will just sit there. From there I'm forced to do a force quit on my project and re-open it again. Is there any way to fix this issue and if so what is the problem causing this issue?
Also my mac is running on OSX v10.7.5 and Premiere is running on cs6 v6.0.2

Yes, MXF should play perfectly in PP CS6, but if you can't work this out at this point, you may wrap your MXF video to something intermediate. as a matter of face, Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 seems to work fine if you import your MXF clips directly from a camera or camcorder, but if have already copied MXF recordings your HDD or you downloaded them from somewhere else, the import error may occur.
So i suggest you convert the MXF footage to something mezzanine we would recommend DNxHD.mov (if you are on a PC) or Apple ProRes .mov (if on a mac). those two intermediate codecs are good mezzanine codecs that handle recompression well and standup well in other areas of post-production (color grading, graphics, compositing, etc,). You can see what I wrote about the solution. "Why Premiere Pro CS6 can't import MXF files?" i hope that it is helpful to you.

If I try to ingest the footage into Premiere Pro (CC/CS6) or use Prelude (CC/CS6) the conformed footage file does not start in the right place. Example, an interview with two takes once ingested (as one file) has the second take first.
    Has anybody else encountered this?

  • Having trouble importing video files

hi, look Im kind of new on this program so I have been importing video files to the project but when I watch them they appear without sound. If I open them in quicktime or any other player they do have sound but its like final cut does not recognize the sound on them. Do anyone know about this? it happens in different types of video files, even when I open the "item property" thing and I look at the format there is a list there but sound issues do not appaer. please let me know if you know something.

Importing from...where? What format are these files? FCP doesn't work with just any QT file...they have to be editable codecs. Not all QT codecs are editable.
