TROUBLE POSITIONING A POLL ON A WEBPAGE

I have created a poll with a MySql flash survey/poll script.  How can I control where I position this script on my webpage?  Do I need to place it within a table?  I tried doing that, but had some weird results.  So far, I can only place the poll on the upper left or right hand corners of the page, but would like to place it in the lower right hand section of the page or some other place on the page for that matter.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  I have been trying to look for advice online about positioning poll code, but have not found any advice on this.  Thanks!

Can you provide a link to the page?  It is hard to help you without seeing what you are dealing with!

  • Trouble positioning html objects

    I'm having a lot of trouble positioning html elements such as paypal buttons and video players (jwplayer).  They look fine in design mode but the exported html is completely unpredictable.  Is anybody else experiencing this problem?

    I haven't seen this problem personally. there may be some unnecessary positioning code in the HTML/CSS/PHP that is involved with the code that you are trying to paste into Muse.
    What would be needed to resolve your issue is the following:
    1) a screenshot of your positioning in Muse' Design Mode.
    2) a screen shot of the resulting position in Prieview or Publish.
    3) the actual HTML code that you are pasting in.

  • Trouble position image in share DVD menu option

    Anyone having trouble getting an image to fit on the share DVD option menu page. Does not usual apple mask to edit and position image. Spent many hours trying to get my image which contains text not to be cut off. There seems to be no guidance on what the image size should be.
    Thanks in advance,
    Susan

    It is a little confusing... but anything white will be interpreted as transparent.
    Make the text in photoshop a different colour, and use the colour mapping tools in DVDSP to get it to look white in the normal state. You can then change the color to be anything else in the different states.
    For example, if your menu background has white text as part of the background image, and your overlay has red text created in photoshop that sits directly on top of the white text, it will still show as white in DVDSP until you change the mapping. Draw a button rectangle over the text, make sure the button is selected and look in the property inspector, in the colours tab.
    Set the overlay style to be 'Advanced' and the mapping type to 'Chroma'. You'll see a black, red blue and white colour control. Set the button to be 'Normal' and move all of the sliders to the left. Set it to be 'Selected' and move the red slider all the way to the right. Make sure that the dropdown box next to the red slider is also showing red in it. What this is saying is "In the red channel, use red as the colour, and make it fully opaque". Of course, you can swap the red for any other colour in the dropdown. For the 'Activated' state this is exactly what you need to do - leave the red slider on the right, but change the colour in the drop down to be what you want when the button is activated - perhaps yellow, for example.
    You should now have no problem making the buttons change colour as you want.

  • Trouble positioning ul 's with CSS

    Hi guys!
    I'm having some trouble with positioning two <ul> tags on a site for a client. Click here for the test site.
    The unordered list for social networking icons at the top appear as they should, but the unordered list for the text links (about, news, links, contact) should be inline with them, just below them and over to the far right of the site. I've tried everything I can think of but to no avail
    Then, in the grey strip/bar should be the main navigation of the site - the code for the buttons is there but i don't even see them on the test site!!
    Would someone mind taking a look for me and letting me know their thoughts as to what I'm doing wrong please?
    Thank you and I hope to hear from you,
    SM

    Try changing the margin on this rule:
    ul#topNav {
        float: right;
        font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
        font-size: 11.5px;
        font-weight: bold;
        letter-spacing: 0.5pt;
        list-style: none outside none;
        margin: 73px 0  margin-top: 73px;
        padding: 0;
        text-transform: uppercase;
    so there is no bottom margin.
    You could also try giving the <ul> for your main nav a width and margin: 0 auto in line with other main centered elements.
    You might then need to tweak the padding on the <ul>
    Fingers crossed!

  • Trouble positioning a stepper motor accurately (to one step)

    I'm using a PCI-7344 with an MD7506 motor driver from RS. I'm testing angle sensors whose voltage output is proportional to (you've guessed it...) angle.
    I'm stepping the motor round by one step, checking that it's got there by reading the encoder, measuring the sensor voltage and repeating.
    My problem is that the motor sometimes 'hunts' around the target position. In closed loop (with an encoder associated with a motor) this results in sometimes not being able to reach the target exactly with the pull-in moves.
    Using open-loop and reading the encoder directly I get better results because I can loop more times, but the motor will still 'hunt' around a target point, changing direction a few times as it over
    shoots by a step.
    As there are a million MAX settings for this I won't list them all here, but I'm checking for a move complete when the InPos flag is set and I have a deadband of 0 steps too. I'm only rotating at 120 step/sec with a 10ms pause between steps.
    Do I have to accept that stepper motors are only accurate to +/- 1 step or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks,

    Mike,
    Maybe other people will have better suggestions, but in my case I can advise to either:
    1. increase the number of pull-in moves,
    2. increase the microstepping of your drive,
    2a... together with a higher precision encoder...
    Other than that, the accuracy is advertised to +/- 1 step, so maybe you would like to consider a stepper with more steps/rev.
    Good luck!, I hope other people will give other suggestions.

  • How to position a menu on a webpage?

    Hi all,
    I'm a graphic designer new to web design. I'm using Dreamweaver CS5 to design a site for work. I'm using a third party D-HTML program made my So Think to create a menu. It enables me to add the menu to the webpage using Dreamweaver. (It's like an extension.)
    My question is: How can I place the menu directly underneath the wording "Campus Planning and Construction? I have a hunch it has to do with adding a div tag, but I'm not sure. It's tricky because the menu only displays in webpage view, but not in design view. Thanks so much for any and all help!
    Here is the link:
    http://dev.cpc.vanderbilt.edu/
    Thanks

    Thanks for your help guys! I'd like to actually go without using the SoThink product. But if you go to my link again, now I have something similar to what my manager would like for the menu. It's for a thumbnail image to appear as one of the menu items. Can that be done within Dreamweaver CS5?
    Thanks!

  • Having trouble positioning text

    http://kurtesposito.com/contact.htm
    Looking for some help on how to position this text on this page. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Also looking for helping on that horizontal strip of white running along the top of my image.
    Thanks

    You have some errors.
    Line 136, you are attempting to merge html and css...
    <img src="images/hurtlogo_original.png" height="80" width="329" float=left />
    float=left is not valid html or css. If you want the image floated left, you need to put it in a style attribute and format it as css...
    <img src="images/hurtlogo_original.png" height="80" width="329" style="float;left;" />
    You also have several line items (the <li> tags around line 139) that are not properly contained within a <ul> or <ol> tagset...
    <div id="nav">
    <ul>
    <li><a href="index.htm">Home</a></li><li><a href="about.htm">About</a></li><li><a href="portfolio.htm">Portfolio</a></li><li><a href="http://kurtesposito.com/blog/">Blog</a></li><li><a href="contact.htm">Contact</a></li>
    </ul>
    </div>
    As far as your original issue, not knowing how to position text, did you have some more information on what you wanted to do?
    I'm also not seeing white space with your image (I assume you mean the KurtLogo?).

  • Trouble Positioning MenuBar

    I'm self-taught, so be bare with me. I research and do my best to implement what I understand. Asking on everything I don't. Which is where you guys come in, haha.
    I originally had my menu bar positioned by putting a certain amount of <br /> tags above or below it. However, after receiving advice on positioning it with margins to keep it looking similar cross-browser, I've attempted that.
    For the life of me I can't figure out how to get my menu bar to display above my box1 div. It just keeps latching itself in there. In my HTML I have it placed outside my box1 div, which holds everything in between the header and the footer. Yet it keeps showing up inside.

    Because we previously positioned your top navigation menu by using the 'float' attribute on the <li> tag:
    .menubar ul li {
    float: left;
    margin: 10px 0 15px 4px;
    we now need to clear the 'float' so your 'box1' <div> resumes its normal html position in the flow. We do that by adding overflow: hidden; to the 'header' css selector (see below):
    .header {
    background:#FFF;
    margin:0 auto;
    width:960px;
    text-align:right;
    overflow: hidden;
    What this effectively does is make the 'header' <div> wrap around the floated elements inside it which inturn pushes your box1 <div> back into its correct position.
    This will sort out your horizontal rule issue as well.

  • Trouble positioning ellipse in new layer

    I created  new layer in my document, and then a new ellipse inside that layer.
    I am trying to position the new ellipse at the top of the layer (vertically) and in the center of layer along the x axis (horizontally).
    Nothing I have tried seems to move the object left of the layers starting x position (I can move it right just fine!?!).
    I am confused because my top and height properties of the layer are negative numbers - but when I look at the ruler, all are above zero?
    What am I doing wrong in terms of positioning the ellipse in the layer?
    Here is a sample of my script:
    var childLayer = currentLayer.layers[j];
    var xmin = childLayer.pageItems[0].geometricBounds[0].toFixed(2); // top
    var ymin = childLayer.pageItems[0].geometricBounds[1].toFixed(2); // left
    var xmax = childLayer.pageItems[0].geometricBounds[2].toFixed(2); // bottom
    var ymax = childLayer.pageItems[0].geometricBounds[3].toFixed(2); // right
    var newBoneLayer = boneLayer.layers.add();
    newBoneLayer.name = childLayer.name.replace(OBJECT_MARKER, "");
    var halfOfWidth = parseFloat(childLayer.pageItems[0].width/2).toFixed(2);
    var boneGuideXPosition = parseFloat(xmin + halfOfWidth).toFixed(2);
    var boneGuide = newBoneLayer.pathItems.ellipse(ymin,boneGuideXPosition, 10.0, 10.0, true, false);
    boneGuide.stroked = true;
    boneGuide.filled = true;
    boneGuide.opacity = 40.0; // set to 40% opacity
    var newRGBColor = new RGBColor();
    newRGBColor.red = 204;
    newRGBColor.green = 255;
    newRGBColor.blue = 255;
    boneGuide.fillColor = newRGBColor;

    For example if I change your code to this I'm closer, but the circles end up on the far right hand corner of each layer (not centered):
    var TOmm = 2.83466796875;
    var AB = childLayer.pageItems[0].geometricBounds; //var AB = _doc.artboards[0].artboardRect;
    var x = AB[0]+(AB[2]/2);
    var y = AB[1];
    var w = 3*TOmm // ellipse Width
    var h = 3*TOmm // ellipse Height
    var boneGuide = newBoneLayer.pathItems.ellipse(y,x-(w/2), w, h, true, true);
    It results in this:

  • Trouble getting template from Photoshop to Webpage

    Hi guys,
    So, a few weeks ago I upgraded from Photoshop CS to Photoshop CS4 (big jump right?), and CS4 is wonderful! But I'm having some issues:
    First, ImageReady no longer around, so making image maps seems all but impossible to do in Photoshop now. Yes I've figured out how to make the image map in Dreamweaver, but I kinda miss just drawing a box in ImageReady and telling the map where to go.
    Second, I am trying to get into the "make the web site template in photoshop, its easier" trend... and they're right, making my web layout is cake if you know how to use layers and draw in Photoshop. I love it, it's wonderful.... but then again every tutorial I find on making templates in PS for DW & Internet say to upload after drawing to ImageReady to create image maps for your navbar and buttons (1) and to slice up your template to import to ImageReady, and then import it from IR to DW. Well... as I mentioned, CS4 has no IR!
    So, does anyone, ANYONE, have a nice tutorial explaining how to set your options in the slices you make for a web page in CS4? I've found plenty of tutorials and guides on how to use the slice to draw around your button and such, but nothing about what options to set. Right now my site is only one page, but eventually I may want to make multiple pages instead of just having my navbar link to specific places on my main page. Plus, saving each layer individually to use in my CSS has its downfall as well: for some reason my header, branding logo, and navbar all have spaces between them. http://secondlife.lift4ullc.com is the site I made... all of the graphics were made in PS CS4, but instead of slicing stuff up, I just hid all layers except navbar, or logo, or header, and saved the jpg's individually. Would really love to learn how to just slice the different image sections without having to do all that extra work. Thank you all for any help you can provide, I really appreciate it.
    Chance

    Hi Bart,
    Actually, I haven't really done much CSS with the template yet. Here's what I've done and where I'm at:
    First, created the template fully in Photoshop CS4
    Second, sliced up the template and then saved to web & devices, html & images
    Next, opened the new .html file in Dreamweaver
    This is as far as I've gotten so far. The template looks great, and its all in one table. I went back and forth with one of my professors in my online class all day yesterday. What he said was to nest another table within my main template table to position everything how I want it. I tried this for a few hours yesterday and always the text ended up somewhere outside of my template "content boxes". You can see the full code and all of its glory here.
    I'm really not sure how to properly nest a small table within the main table to get some header like "News" or "Current Events" to line up at the top of the gradient on my "content boxes" etc. My professor suggested Illustrator, but I do not know that program at all yet.
    I could go with pure CSS as I've done in the past, but then I get gaps, like the ones I have here. If you notice at the very top where the branding is, there's a gap between that and the header image, and then another between that and the navbar. My goal is to be able to put content in the two boxes like on the first link, and then figure a way to link those boxes to my CSS so that as I add content to them (like with the second site) the boxes repeat or scroll down without giving me gaps. I hope this makes some semblance of sense. I figure for my other pages (one for every button on the navbar except XStreet) I'll design another content box like the two on the front of the site, but combine them to one box instead of two.
    Once I can figure out how to start adding content properly, I'll be all set finally with creating and designing templates. Its just this wall that I've hit that's stopping me from going further. Should I take out the tables, use the slices in my CSS and link them to <div> tags instead? My business is wanting a capture or splash page like here. and while I know how to design that template with Photoshop to give them a white box with a reflection under it, I will run into the same problem of getting the content inside that white box.
    I appreciate the time and effor in this, thank you. Oh yes, one more thing... I've been trying to do some searches on google and youtube for a video tutorial of just how to get the content in there properly, but I'm not even sure how to phrase it right to get some decent results. If this is one of those thinks you just know how to do but cannot explain it, if you could give me a tip on how to phrase my search properly, I'd appreciate that too. =)

  • Trouble positioning image divs on page

    I'm preparing a photo gallery page for use with Lightbox2 by
    adding 145 x 145 divs to my page for my thumbnails. I inserted my
    first div and it ended up at top-left of my
    <div#mainContent>, then in the code, I just copy/pasted
    (duplicated) three more, right underneath each other. I now have
    four down the left side, that's fine. But I want 4 down and 4
    accross. Someone told me that I need to float them. I can't figure
    out how to do that, can anybody help?
    By the way, the page is a DW ".oneColFixCtrHdr ", the width
    is fixed but it's bottomless, my divs just keep going down the left
    side of the page on top of each other.
    Thanks, Julie

    Because someone suggested it to me, reason being, these are
    for thumbnails for links to larger versions for use in Lightbox2,
    and he said the caption and magnification link both require some
    special CSS. Placing them in their own container makes them much
    easier to style. He places every picture in a div with the class
    "image" and the additional class "fl" just floats the entire thing
    to the left. So that's what I did. Although I'm not sure I did the
    class' properly. I'm new to DW.

    Basically I have a left navigation table cell, and it

    <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/jquery-ui.css" />

    <script src="scripts/jquery-ui.js"></script>
    <script>
        $(function() {
           $("#datepicker").datepicker({ minDate: 0 });
    </script>
    <cfoutput> #repeatstring("<br>",100)# </cfoutput>
    <cfform>
    <cfinput type="text" value=""  id="datepicker" name="sale_date"  />
    </cfform>
    thanks

    tried this but didn't work when scroll down to the bottom of the page.
    <script>
        $(function() {
         $('.datetime').datepicker({
         dateFormat: 'm/d/yy',
         beforeShow: function (input, inst) {
             var offset = $(input).offset();
             var height = $(input).height();
             window.setTimeout(function () {
                 inst.dpDiv.css({ top: (offset.top + height + 4) + 'px', left: offset.left + 'px' })
             }, 1);
    </script>

  • Trouble positioning a stepper motor accurately

    I'm using a PXI - 7344 with an MID7064 motor driver for XYMR Microscope Stage(Danaher Motion) which has encoder of resolution 2000 (counts/rev).
    The motor is in 200 steps/rev configuration and microstepping by 10 (closed loop).
    So the motor and encoder are effectively in same resolution. So i expect it to be accurate to +/- 1 step(with three pull in moves ) because the motor and the encoder may not be in phase.
    But i get accuracy of +/- 3-4 steps. I didn't  have this problem previously (till a week ago), I had accuracy of +/- 1 step.
    Any ideas on what could be wrong?
    Thank you
    Prathyush

    Hy Prathyush,
    Here is another thing to consider.  You may be trying to stop the move in between physical poles on the stepper motor.  Since the motor has 200 steps per revolution, that means that there are 200 physical poles on the motor to step with.  You are microstepping at 10 microsteps/step.  So, if you try to stop a move after a number of steps that is not divisible by 10, then you are essentially trying to hold the rotor between two poles which are competing to magnetically attract it.  Essentially, the rotor is in an unstable "tug-of-war" so to speak.  Now your encoder has a resolution of 2000 counts/rev, each count being evenly spaced out.  If the motor is being held between two poles, there might be slight vibrations which cause the encoder feedback to vary slightly, thus giving you a 3-4 count error.  If you set up your moves where you never land in between poles, I expect you should have better accuracy.

  • I am working in a webpage form that reloads back to the top every time I save a change, is it possible to set its position, eg at the middle to avoid scrolling?

    I have to scroll down every time the webpage reloads and it is a waste of time. Is there any add-on to solve this? I tried Screen Surfer but it sets the size of the whole window and I need to fix the position (the section of the webpage) where it appears after reloading due to a change. Thanks
