Trouble Starting Server Admin

So I am new to setting up a server, and I have come across some troubles already. I am running the Server Admin on the server itself, and we are using Mac OS X Server 10.5.3. I have gone through all of the Installation and configuration steps. When I open the Server Admin folder, it gives me the following message: There is no server at the address you entered. It tells me to contact the network administrator for troubleshooting (too bad that is me). It gives me the following options to click: Keep in List; Disconnect; and Remove.
Have I missed a step in the installation and configuration? Any advice would be wonderful.

Hi.
How are you trying to connect to the server? What I mean is, are you entering a full domain name for the server, or it's IP? If trying to connect via the name, its possible (likely) there is a DNS configuration problem.
What you'll find as you work more with OS X Server, is that a proper DNS setup is absolutely critical to making almost anything but the most basic services work correctly.
Click on Remove, then try re-connecting via the IP address of the server to see if it connects. If it does, you'll need to troubleshoot your DNS setup. Use the little + button on the bottom left to "Add new server…" then enter the appropriate info.
Also, make sure you're connecting using the admin name and password you set up during the server set up stage. I know, that sounds obvious, but just double-check anyway.

  • Server Admin 10.6 Tools Install doesn't work

    Hi All,
I've installed SL 10.6 on my laptop, Servers are still on 10.5.8, so I had to Download and install the 10.6 Server Admin Tools. Trouble is Server Admin and WorkGroup Manager fail to start, crashing with the following:
    Dyld Error Message:
    Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/PlatformHardwareManagement.framework/Versions /A/PlatformHardwareManagement
    Referenced from: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ServerFoundation.framework/Versions/A/ServerF oundation
    Reason: image not found
Looks like the install fails even though it reports a successful install. Have tried re-installing same download, with same results.
Any ideas (I can't manage the servers right now)???

We're left out in the cold, cold snow on this. We can no longer use Server Admin 10.5, or any other flavor outside of 10.6 server admin tools.
This means we can only administer 10.5.8 servers, and 10.6 servers.
10.6 installer works fine for me, but it can only administer specifically 10.6 and 10.5.8 servers.
Anyone that's a sys-admin administers multiple servers, this would be 10.4.x servers (Hopefully 10.4.11) 10.5.x servers (Sometimes if it's a "Critical" server and it's not broke, you don't mess with it. meaning leaving it at 10.5.4 because two other server updates to 10.5.5 you recently completed failed miserably) . You get the picture. Previously I kept multiple versions of Server Admin on my machine, 10.3, 10.5.3, 10.5.5, for compatibility, so now I'm dead in the water. And apple solution appears to be have multiple computer hanging around to complete this task. I'm not buying in.
they either now need to allow virtualization of 10.5 client, or get their act together with software compatibility.
Extremely disappointed, and will have to be going back to 10.5. Wonder if I can get a refund on my purchase.

  • Trouble starting Managed Server

I'm having trouble starting a managed server.
I have 'myomain' running on 7001, and attempt to start 'examples' on 7006

I've modified a copy of startWebLogic.sh to include the following -D parameters:

    weblogic.management.password = <password for mydomain>
    weblogic.management.username=system
When run, the 7001 access.log contains the following entry, so I know the reqest

3)An admin server myserver on the local machine at port 7001
4)In the admin tree under Machines a new machine is created 'Machine1' with Node manager Listen Address: 172.17.2.201
              5) The managed server 'BEAServerMan1 ' instance is created with listen Address 172.17.2.201 and port 7705. This Server is assigened to Machine1. The server also belongs to a cluster 'Cluster1' where the 172.17.2.201:7705 is part of the Cluster Address.

  • WSM Managed server starts in ADMIN Mode after upgrade to 11.1.1.7

We have just upgraded our 11g SOA Cluster environment from 11.1.1.4 to 11.1.1.7. The issue is after the upgrade, our WSM servers are starting to ADMIN state with following error.
    <Sep 25, 2013 7:14:35 AM PDT> <Error> <Deployer> <BEA-149205> <Failed to initialize the application 'DMS Application [Version=11.1.1.1.0]' due to error weblogic.application.ModuleException: Failed to load webapp: 'dms.war'.
weblogic.application.ModuleException: Failed to load webapp: 'dms.war'
    Caused By: weblogic.management.DeploymentException: Error: Unresolved Webapp Library references for "ServletContext@381802823[app:DMS Application module:dms.war path:/dms spec-version:2.5 version:11.1.1.1.0]", defined in weblogic.xml [Extension-Name: jstl, Specification-Version: 1.2, Implementation-Version: 1.2, exact-match: false]

Our cluster environment has one Admin Server, and two of each OSB, WSM and SOA managed servers. As our WSM servers are not coming up, we are not able to start our SOA servers too.
    Thank You

Same issue here :-)), Just playing around with policies configuration, the server was running just fine, I wanted to check if the policies are applicable during runtime even the WSM managed server is down. After restart, it started in ADMIN mode, well the solution is straight. It is exactly telling that the dms application is missing the jstl library reference

So search for "jstl" within the weblogic console in search bar, it is type of library, click on it and target it to the managed server where OWSM is running as weel. It was root cause in my case, somehow the library was not targeted to our WLS_WMS1 managed server. Now the server is back in RUNNING mode. Of course apply this in case of problem with SOA servers, target it to the cluster or exact nodes and it should work.
Still I don't know how the issue has been crated, I don't think that somebody removed it from deployment. Rather I think that somebody was applying patch or some artifacts to OSB or SOA managed server and this library was required as well, but as soon as we have separated WSM cluster, it was maybe assuming that it is running within OSB or SOA clusters and therefore didn't target the WSM cluster automatically. But this is just the idea :-))

  • Could not load Logmanager "oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLLogManager" error while starting the Admin server

    Hi,
I installed weblogic 12.1.2.0.0 with RHEL5.6.  After the installation, I tried to post the following class path in setDomainEnv.sh file under the domain home directory,
    POST_CLASSPATH="/prosun/jasper/jasperreports-3.6.0.jar:/prosun/jasper/commons-digester-1.7.jar:/prosun/jasper/log4j-1.2.15.jar:/prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.beanutils_1.6.jar:/prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.collections_3.1.jar:/prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.logging_1.0.4.jar:/prosun/jasper/iText-2.1.0.jar:/prosun/jasper/groovy-all-1.5.5.jar"
While i am  trying to start the Admin server, the server didn't started and following exception is reported in nohup.out file.  Please help me to resolve this issue.
The above library jars are required for our applications.

    Regards,
    Anand Krishnan

hi, you should not do nothing with user root.
please, don't use root again for weblogic administration.
list all files with root permissions:
move to Middleware Home, example: cd /u01/app/oracle/Middleware
    find . -user root
if there are files with root permissions, change it to oracle:oinstall
    I saw this:
    Could not load Logmanager "oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLLogManager"
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLLogManager
Please check in DOMAIN_HOME/bin/setDomainEnv.sh file if exist this:
    JAVA_OPTIONS="-Djava.util.logging.manager=oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLLogManager ${JAVA_OPTIONS}"
    export JAVA_OPTIONS
    MWCONFIG_CLASSPATH=${FMWCONFIG_CLASSPATH}${CLASSPATHSEP}${COMMON_COMPONENTS_HOME}/modules/oracle.odl_11.1.1/ojdl.jar
    export FMWCONFIG_CLASSPATH
    if exist, replace for:
    JAVA_OPTIONS="${JAVA_OPTIONS}"
    export JAVA_OPTIONS
if not existe, its necesary for you to use /prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.logging_1.0.4.jar in your classpath?. If it isn't necesary delete it, and restart the AdminServer.

I noticed it has something to do with security so I need to mention I modified the boot.properties file such that to have the same credentials used upon the domain creation.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
    Kind regards,
    Nicolas

    scanzano,
I was wondering if you ever received and answer to this question, becuase I am faced with the same problem when I attempt a signon to the 'admin server' I receive the following message:
    type Status report
message Invalid direct reference to form login page
description The request sent by the client was syntactically incorrect (Invalid direct reference to form login page).
This is displayed as an "HTTP Status 400 - Invalid direct reference to form login page!!??" It appears that this message has been around for a while so I'm wondering if this issue will ever get resolved??

  • Can not start Weblogic Server Admin

    Hi,
I am new to Weblogic and trying to install v12.1.1 on Windows 7 64 bit. The installation "seems" to have gone fine, however I cannot see User Projects under “start” =>”all programs” => “Oracle Weblogic” => “user projects” => “base_domaine” => “start admin server for Weblogic server”
I have tried to run the startWebLogic.cmd from the install directory, but I get the below error and nothing starts.
Enter username to boot WebLogic server:admin
    <07-Oct-2013 12:12:40 o'clock BST> <Error> <Security> <BEA-090782> <Server is Running in Production Mode and Native Library(terminalio) to read the pa

    C:\app\vicente\product\11.2.0\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain>
Could you please advise what the issue may be?
I have my Java home in the PATH variables and the machine is also running my Orcale Database 11.2.0.3
    Thanks

Hello, pay attention to: "to read the password securely from commandline is not found"
when you execute startWebLogic.cmd the terminal request you a password. You didn't type the password.
    Solution:
    Execute startWebLogic.cmd
    Type the password.

  • Errors starting Portal Admin Server after configuring RDBMS Security Store.

    Hi,
I'm using WLST to build and configure the portal domain. I've already had our DBA run all the necessary scripts on the Database.
We are using WLP 10.3 on RHEL 4 and Oracle 10G RAC. I read on some thread that RDBMS is only compatble with verion 10.3.2 but why is the feature in 10.3?
The error below seems to point to the URL; does this mean that the RDBMS config does not support RAC databases?
Hope someone can shed light on this as it's pretty urgent.
    Many thanks

Thanks, Ravi - already did all that. I have managed to stand the whole cluster up but two niggly things - one more so!
First, when I start any of the managed servers for the forst time, I get the error below; it's as if the managed server can't download the ldap config from the AdminServer - subsequent restarts work fine though.

Secondly, both managed server are starting in ADMIN mode because some of the libraries aren't getting deployed. Think this is due to clashes in the Implementation-Version. I get the errors below (loads of the libraries - approx a third but I just pasted this for brevity) although after starting them with nodemanager and they go into ADMIN mode, I can always click on resume which then starts them up. Any idea why this is the case?
    Many, many, thanks!

  • Quicktime Streaming Server - qtss - service does not start in Server Admin.

    Hi,
We're currently trying to configure a video/audio streaming server, but we've fallen at the first hurdle and the QuickTime Streaming service will not start (I am trying to enable it via Server Admin). Can anyone think of any possible reasons for this?
    Many thanks,
    Dave

It's probably not hugely relevant but are you trying to start it remotely or locally on the server? I know Server Admin can get a bit laggy and not always do what it should when starting services. Also can you check in the logs for the service (Quicktime Streaming>Logs>Error Log) to see if there's anything in there which gives and indication. Paste the output here if you need anymore help with that.

    Hi hrushi,
i'm not refering to the Weblogic console but your physical server console. You already did most of the tasks.
    Please do the steps below:
    1) Logon to your server Solaris console
    2) Get the PID of your Admin server Java process ex: ps -ef | grep java
    3) Execute the following command: kill -3 <pid>
    4) This will generate a Thread Dump within your Admin server startup log (normally nohup.out)
    5) Extract the Thread Dump and look at the Thread Stack Trace of the Weblogic start-up Thread
    6) The thread name you are looking or is: "Main Thread"
    7) Update this post with Stack Trace of the "Main Thread"

  • How to start the admin server on another WLS machine?

    Hi,
I have a weblogic cluster with 2 weblogic machines: machineA and machineB.
The cluster contains 4 managed servers (2 on each WLS machine)
The admin server runs on machineA (standalone).
I have a file backup of the domain directory on machineA.
              Suppose machineA crashes.
How can I start the admin server on machineB?
              Kind regards,
              Pieter

    Thanks for your reply,
I know how to (re)start the admin server on machineA. But in this case I want to start the admin server on machineB.
              The documentation says:
Restarting an Administration Server on Another Machine
If a machine crash prevents you from restarting the Administration Server on the same machine, you can recover management of the running Managed Servers as follows:
Install the WebLogic Server software on the new administration machine (if this has not already been done).
Make your application files available to the new Administration Server by copying them from backups or by using a shared disk. Your application files should be available in the same relative location on the new file system as on the file system of the original Administration Server.
Make your configuration and security data available to the new administration machine by copying them from backups or by using a shared disk. For more information, refer to Directory and File Backups for Failure Recovery.
Restart the Administration Server on the new machine.
Simply starting the admin server on the other machine does not work because it tries to start the admin server on the ip address of the old machine.

I applied CP4 patch also but no luck :(
    1. Am I missing something ?
    2. Is my environment supported ?
    Please provide your inputs.

    Best Regards,

Two things you may want to try
    1. It complains about libc.so.6+0x8316b. Check with your Linux administrator to see if they have recent version of libc.so file at the kernel and if not, upgrade and try to start admin server (Make sure you remove the cache, tmp folders under server folder)
    2. check your /etc/hosts and see if anything strange like duplicate host file, ip mismatch etc
Post your results after trying the above
    Thanks
