Trouble with compiling

G-day.
I have been having problems compiling most programs. After running the ./configure as per instruction... then make. It will start compiling but will always seems to halt and display make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `all-recursive' as the last line.
This has happend when trying to compile apache 2, nmap, gnu gcc 4.2.1 and other apps.
Anybody have any suggestions??

  • Trouble with compiling packages

I ve posted this in other forums but most of the soultions that i got was problamatic. if there is a way to compile a application which has 3 or 4 sub packages without using any other tools other than what comes with jdk that's what im looking for
itried what was in this post but that didnt work
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=541081&messageID=2622943
    Thanks in advance

The other thread has the right answers if you're using a real operating system like a unix variety.
If you're using Windows, you can improve the situation by using cygwin. That will give you access to a tool like find (unix find) so you'll be able to do something like
    find . -name \*java > @files
    java @filesor
java `find . -name \*java`But seriously, the best solution is to use a build tool like Ant or Make. You can use Ant on Windows.
Windows isn't really designed for small independant tools (e.g., getting work done) like unix is. You're supposed to use a big monolithic application, one at a time. Once you've learned enough Java that you are developing larger applications like this, and if you insist on using Windows, then either get cygwin, or download an IDE like Eclipse.

  • Trouble with compiling class that contains "import com.sun.xacml.*;"

I think the package com.sun.xacml is included in j2sdk 1.4.2 (the one that I have)
but every time I try to compile a class that importes this package classes, the compiler dosen't recognize the package.
It's a problem of updating the CLASSPATH?
    Thanks in advance

I don't think this would be part of any standard java distribution.
But I found a couple of jars (versions) available for download at
    http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net/maven/repository/xacml/jars/

  • Trouble with OR in where clause

    Hello,
I'm having trouble with execution speed. The problem seems to be with using OR in my where clause.
Here's the meat of the function where i_pledge_number is an input parm:
    BEGIN
    SELECT /*+ INDEX (pp) */ SUM(pp.prim_pledge_amount)
    INTO return_amount
    FROM
    primary_pledge pp
    WHERE
-- Get total if multiple allocations
    pp.prim_pledge_number IN
    (SELECT pc.pledge_number
    FROM pledge_codes pc
    WHERE pc.pledge_code_type = 'M'
    AND pc.pledge_code = 'AC'
    AND lpad(pc.pledge_comment,10,'0') = i_pledge_number)
-- Get total if single allocation
    OR pp.prim_pledge_number = i_pledge_number;
    RETURN return_amount;
    END;
If I comment out either half of the OR statement (either the subquery or the pp.prim_pledge_number = i_pledge_number half) the function returns a value in .02 seconds. If I leave the OR in, it takes 2.764 seconds to execute?? Can someone please show me a better way (faster) to do this? I tried using nvl() around the subquery but couldn't get it to compile.
    Thanks

These things are difficult to diagnose remotely, but here is something you can try....
    SELECT */ SUM(pp.prim_pledge_amount)
    INTO return_amount
    FROM   primary_pledge pp
    WHERE  pp.prim_pledge_number IN (SELECT pc.pledge_number
                                     FROM pledge_codes pc
                                     WHERE pc.pledge_code_type = 'M'
                                     AND pc.pledge_code = 'AC'
                                     AND lpad(pc.pledge_comment,10,'0') = i_pledge_number
    UNION ALL
    SELECT i_pledge_number FROM dual)
       RETURN return_amount;
END;If that doesn't do anything (and it might well not) there are a large number of different ways we can recast this query. To save us further guessing please give us more details: execution plans, database version number, volumetrics.
    Cheers, APC

  • Trouble with RMI?

We have during the last month started to get problems where the Vadis application
stops working. We can't figure out the cause of this.
Recent additions to the application is that we have started to use RMI for our
client communication - currently we are both using CORBA (OrbixWeb 3.1c) and RMI
    - planning to get rid of CORBA. We have also some new features that increases
the amount of tasks to perform.
The system can hang both under heavy load and under off peak hours, when many
clients are connected or when nobody is using it!?! Strange...
This happens approximately once a week.
Today we managed to get a JRockit dump (with Ctrl-Break) - see attached file.
The main thread that should run all real tasks is Schemaläggare, but the stack
trace indicates a really weird place to stop. When looking at the code we can't
see how this could be either a deadlock or an infinite loop. Maybe you can make
some more out of the printout?
For example, we wonder what the timestamp row means. Almost all threads have a
timestamp of around 2200. But one thread has 1 and the other 346. What does this
    mean?
We are using the following version of JRockit:
    java version 1.3
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build "1.3.1_CROSIS_20011213-1316")
    JRockit Virtual Machine (build 3.0.1-CROSIS-2001213-1317)
    with nativeThreads activated.
Do you know of any troubles with using RMI for this version. Or the combination
    of RMI and CORBA/OrbixWeb?
    Best regards,
    Tomas L
    [ProblemReport_JRockit.txt]

Really don't know the answer to that question. I haven't analyzed the
problem in detail. I know that a lot of issues has been fixed since
3.0.1, and if the problem is with the VM it is likely to have been fixed.

    Alright,
However, before taking on the job of upgrading JRockit it would be nice to know
whether the problem is likely to be solved. Or put in other words: Do you think
the problem is in the JVM or in our application?

Well, as you noted, NT4 isn't a supported platform for 7.0sp4, but we

You have two choices the way I see it: 1) Use 7.0sp4 on NT4 and
hopefully it solves your problem. 2) Upgrade to W2K (but I guess that
    is
    hard).

    Hi,

    Hi Tomas,
JRockit 3.0.1 is pretty old at this time, so I would strongly suggest
that you upgrade to JRockit 7.0sp4 (if you need 1.3.1 compatibility),
    or
JRockit 1.4.2 (if you are ok with 1.4.2 compatibility). Both version
    are
    available for download at

  • Trouble with a If conditional using string methods.

    Hello Everyone,
I am having trouble with an If statement. I want to compare a string variable to two values using the or operator. I have found the || may not be applied to string.equals. Would neone happen to have a different method? Code below:
    check = ("C".equals(option)) || ("F".Equals(option));

    jverd wrote:
Please paste in the exact, complete error message.
One thing that's definitely wrong is the capital E in your second Equals. I don't know if that's causing the problem though. Also note that, once you get it to compile, if you don't remove the semicolon after the if statement, you won't get the behavior you want.

  • Trouble with a bindVar function in the reflection

    Hello everybody!
I have some trouble with using FXObjectValue.bindVar(...) function.
    I'm getting
    java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: unimplemented: bindVar
    exceprion :(
I loked up to source code of JavaFX and I can't find implementation this function, except one that throws this exception.
    Hence I have two questions:
    - Is this function implemented wherever really?
    - If one isn't implemented how can I conquer this trouble or will one be implemented soon?
    //Best regards
    //Alexander

    Hi again!
I have looked at this classes which you have advised me. Thank you very much!
But I can't understand what I have to do in the onChange method, when I realise FXChangeListener interface. Any values aren't passed into this method.
I have tried look up any explanation into source code of the JavaFX compilator, but I haven't found.
I have some ideas about some solution for this case:
to save source and destination objects into a class that realises this interface.
But I don't sure that solution is clear.
Could you please estimate this idea?
My be are some other solutions of this problem?
    Thank you in advance!

  • Troubles with attached libraries - Forms6i

    I'm working with Forms6i (6.0.8.8.0).
I have some troubles with attached libraries.
I have to modify an old forms project. All server elements are on the original
server computer (database, sources, libraries , ect..). Now I installed
on a new client Pc forms6i and I tried to open forms modules.
When I open modules I don't see attached library (pll and olb).
I reattached the object library and the pl/sql library but when I close and open forms6i I can see in module structure only
object library. No pl/sql library . I reattached pl/sql library too but i get errors like "identifier xyz must be declared" about functions and procedures defined in my pl/sql library .
First I try to add in registry the pll library path in FORMS60_PATH then I try following suggestion :
" just put all of your forms (*.fmx), menu (*.mmx) and PLL libraries (*.PLL or *.PLX) files into the same
directory, then change your shortcut (icon) that you start the Oracle Forms runtime environment from so it's
"Start in" (working directory) is set to the directory where your forms, menus and libraries are. "
    I get same errors.
    Could you help me ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Antonio

Are your computers running the same operating system ?
The pll file is a strange beast - although it contains portable source code, it also contains compiled code which has to be compiled on the right platform. plx files
are entirely optional, and are only really required if you want to ship an executable without giving away the source code.

  • Trouble with SQL Expressions

    Hello everyone,
I'm having trouble with this SQL expression that works in 8.5, and XI R2 runtime and designer, but I cannot edit the expression.  As soon as I open the SQL Expression and click the X-2 check button, the error following
SQL Expression I'm trying to run:
    (Select Distinct b1.CandEmploymentType
        from ceistaffing a1
        inner join ceisubmittal b1 on a1.submittalid = b1.ceisubmittalid
    Where a1.Staffingchainid = CEIHRPROJECTEDACTUAL."STAFFINGCHAINID"
        and b1.createdate in (Select max(b2.createdate) from ceistaffing a2 inner join ceisubmittal b2 on a2.submittalid = b2.ceisubmittalid where a2.staffingchainid = a1.staffingchainid))
The Errror I Receive After Clicking the X-2 button:
    Crystal Reports
Error in compiling SQL Expression :
Failed to retrieve data from the database.
    Details: ADO Error Code: 0x
    Source: SalesLogix OLE DB Provider
Description: The multi-part identifier "CEIHRPROJECTEDACTUAL.STAFFINGCHAINID" could not be bound.
Native Error:  [Database Vendor Code: 181797304 ].
    OK
This is the SQL statement passed to the database:
    SELECT (Select Distinct b1.CandEmploymentType
    from ceistaffing a1
    inner join ceisubmittal b1 on a1.submittalid = b1.ceisubmittalid
    Where a1.Staffingchainid = CEIHRPROJECTEDACTUAL."STAFFINGCHAINID"
    and b1.createdate in (Select max(b2.createdate) from ceistaffing a2 inner join ceisubmittal b2 on a2.submittalid = b2.ceisubmittalid where a2.staffingchainid = a1.staffingchainid))
If I reverse the order of the where clause as follows, I do not get the error
    (Select Distinct b1.CandEmploymentType
    from ceistaffing a1
    inner join ceisubmittal b1 on a1.submittalid = b1.ceisubmittalid
    Where CEIHRPROJECTEDACTUAL."STAFFINGCHAINID" = a1.Staffingchainid
    and b1.createdate in (Select max(b2.createdate) from ceistaffing a2 inner join ceisubmittal b2 on a2.submittalid = b2.ceisubmittalid where a2.staffingchainid = a1.staffingchainid))
This is the working SQL statement passed to the database.
    SELECT (Select Distinct b1.CandEmploymentType
    from ceistaffing a1
    inner join ceisubmittal b1 on a1.submittalid = b1.ceisubmittalid
    Where CEIHRPROJECTEDACTUAL."STAFFINGCHAINID" = a1.Staffingchainid
    and b1.createdate in (Select max(b2.createdate) from ceistaffing a2 inner join ceisubmittal b2 on a2.submittalid = b2.ceisubmittalid where a2.staffingchainid = a1.staffingchainid))
    FROM   "sysdba"."CEIHRPROJECTEDACTUAL" "CEIHRPROJECTEDACTUAL"
I figured I would just reverse the where clause statements, but then I came to this one that I couldn't get to work:
    (Select case when tmp.restartcount = 0 then 'F' else 'T' end from
(Select Count(b.restart) as restartcount from ceistaffing a inner join ceihrprojectedactual b on a.staffingchainid = b.staffingchainid
    where a.candcontactid = (Select distinct candcontactid from ceistaffing a2 where a2.staffingchainid = CEIHRPROJECTEDACTUAL."STAFFINGCHAINID")
    and b.restart = 'T'
    and a.createdate = (Select min(a1.createdate) from ceistaffing a1
                   where a1.createdate > (Select max(a3.createdate)
                                  from ceistaffing a3
                                  where a3.staffingchainid = CEIHRPROJECTEDACTUAL."STAFFINGCHAINID")
                   and a1.candcontactid = a.candcontactid)) as tmp )
I've burned an entire day trying to find some solution.  Are there any patches out there that will fix this?
    I'm running Crystal Report XI Release 2 SP2 - Version 11.5.8.826
    Thank you, ...Rob

Okay, to simplify the illustration of the problem Iu2019m facing, Iu2019ve created a bare bones example as described below:
I've created a report that returns all contacts from our "CONTACT" table.  On the report, I've created a SQL expression to return a count of all contacts with the similar last name, as shown below:
    (Select count(a1.ContactID) from CONTACT a1 where a1.LASTNAME = "CONTACT"."LASTNAME")
When I try to save the SQL expression,  I get this error:
    Crystal Reports
Error in compiling SQL Expression :
Failed to retrieve data from the database.
    Details: ADO Error Code: 0x
    Source: SalesLogix OLE DB Provider
Description: The multi-part identifier "CONTACT.LASTNAME" could not be bound.
Native Error:  [Database Vendor Code: 205193720 ].
    OK
This SQL expression works fine in CRW 8.5, but no luck in XI R2 SP4 - As mentioned above in the thread, this seems to be an issue solely with how XI R2 is parsing the SQL Expression.  If I remove the "A1" alias from my expression all is good, but that will not work for some of the more advanced SQL expressions I have that are using joins and sub queries.
What will it take to get this recognized as an issue worthy of a hot fix?  I'm at a stand-still here, facing the unfortunate possibility of having to re-architect many of my reports.  Please help.
    Thank you, ...Rob

I downloaded the sources of this (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/applet/clientExample.html) example and am trying to make them work. However I'm having trouble with the server program. It compiles fine but when I run it I get NullPointerException in QuoteServerThread class on this line:
packet = new DatagramPacket(buf, 256);buf is a byte array and it's set to null.
I don't have any experience with networking in java so if the problem is something really simple you'll know why I didn't find it.
Oh, and the code of the thread is here http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/applet/examples/QuoteServerThread.java

    Replace
    byte[] buf = null;with
byte[] buf = new byte[ 256 ];Other problems may happen if this sample was not tested properly.
The problem is that the DatagramPacket requires you to supply a non-null buffer, as per:
    DatagramPacket
    public DatagramPacket(byte[] buf, int length)
Constructs a DatagramPacket for receiving packets of length length.
The length argument must be less than or equal to buf.length.
    Parameters:
buf - buffer for holding the incoming datagram.
length - the number of bytes to read.

  • Troubles with save object in request

    Hi All!
I have trouble with saving EditCurrentRecord in request. In JDeveloper everything works fine. But when I try to run on iAS with Apache/Jserv I get jsp compilation error:
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.servlet.ServletRequest: method setAttribute(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/Object;)V not found
I have this problem with a lot of my pages.
First time I thinks problem is in my code. By after removing every line of my custom code and leaving only JD code, I get the same error. Some pages works fine, another no! They are looks very simillary.
I also take a look at servlet code. It's look great.
    Anybody have this problem?

    Hi Dev,
Please check the FG 'STRD', it should have FM for your requirement.
Like FM 'TR_OBJECT_INSERT' or TR_OBJECTS_INSERT etc.

  • Got trouble with the scope....

    Hi,
I have a program, and I have trouble with the scope.
I created two nodes, and I can print them out within that sort of proceedure say
    public void a();
    //generate nodes and such
    but when I do this:
    public void b();
    //search through the made nodes
it will compile, but will say that there are no nodes created, when i already did by another one, now I know this is a static scope, and I was wondering what to do here?

    1) You need to declare the nodes in the class, and assign them in a(). Variables declared outside a method are referenceable within all methods of that class.
    2) Get rid of the semi-colons at the end of your method signatures -- the code you've provided won't compile that way.
    3) Not to insult you, but you should really spend some time on fundamental programming concepts. Scope is fundamental concept, suggesting that there are some troublesome holes in your knowledge. The more you know, the more efficient you will be.
    Bueno suerte.

  • Trouble with interface class

    Hi there,
for a school project we're building a helicopter which can be controlled via the computer. We're going to connect some wires to the remote control of the helicopter and the wires we also connect to a LabJack (a digital/analog converter). Via java we can give signals to this labjack and control so the helicopter. Only one thing: I've downloaded the library for labjack for java. You can see this labrary, it called LabJackJava: http://www.teravation.com/downloads/LabJackJava.zip
    In it is a few classes and one of them is called LabJack (this is in fact a interface). In the interface there is a method called: void setAO(int channel, float value) throws LabJackException;
This method I'm going to need to set the voltage on the wires. For compiling I use the program BlueJ (which is a object-orientated compiler). But because the the class LabJack is a interface, I cannot call the method setAO(). How can I solve this?? I also had some trouble with the System.loadLibrary("ljackj"); in the class LabJackDriver. I copied the file ljackj.dll into the folder system32 (windows) and it still doesn't work... Is this dll essential for the working of the class LabJack??? How can I solve this???
    Please help me!!
    Thanks!
    Héctor van den Boorn

This is a forum for the Java programming language, not for every program and library ever written in Java. The LabJack site has a support area and forum, which should be the right place to seek a solution.
That said, the documentation indicates that you obtain a LabJack reference from the appropriate method of LabJackFactory. The reference returned will be that of a platform dependent concrete class that implements the interface.

edit Oh, I see you have a history of not replying to responses on your posts. This was exceptionally bad, 9 responses and not a peep out of you.

    Fine. One for the blacklist.

  • Trouble with examples from the website

    Hi
I was trying to down load couple of examples from your website - Motor
control, closed loop control system. But have trouble with it.
    I have Labview version 5.1 not 7.
It gives an error after I unzip the file.
Are they not compatible with 5.1??
    Pls help
    Krithika

When you download an example from the NI homepage please always have a look at the "Software Requirements" section. Here you will find the version of the development environment the example was compiled with.
Many examples are compiled with LV 6.x or LV 7.x thus it's probable that you can't open them with LV 5.x
