Trouble With Cookies

Question

I can't believe I'm having to ask this... cookies are so
incredibly easy to deal with, but I'm just stumped.
Basically, in my application.cfm file I check for the
existance of a cookie. If it's not defined, I set it to a default
value.
I then have a SELECT menu that passes a new value (different
for each option) to a page that overwrites the cookie I checked for
in application.cfm with the value from the form. It should be a
really simple thing, I've done it countless times in fact.
But it's not working today for some reason.
In my testing I clear IE7's cookies and watch as it creates
the default one upon loading my first page. I've opened the cookie
file and sure enough, the default value was set. I then submit the
form, open up the cookie file again, and it's still the default.
Here's the catch though... I can actually call the cookie
using CFOUTPUT on the page following the form, and it does reflect
the updated value from the SELECT tag, but again, the cookie file
on my computer still somehow registers the default value.
I've put a CFABORT inside the isdefined tag in my
application.cfm after the default cookie was placed, just to make
sure that it's not resetting it there (somehow). I've tried
alternate browsers. I'm only four or five cookies heavy on the
website, so I'm not exceeding the browser limit by any means. Maybe
I just need to step away from this for a bit, but I don't think
I've missed a thing.

Nevermind, a break is what I needed after-all. I had a
missing template error way down at the bottom of the page I wasn't
catching, and apparently ColdFusion doesn't successfully write the
cookie on a page with an error.
