Trusted Solaris and Java sockets

Hello,
Sun has provided a very rich set of Trusted Solaris 8 socket calls.
But how do I use them from Java?
Thanks

Thanks. I'm a little bit confused. When I use the following code to display the input stream...
byte[] b = new byte[1000];
int ch = is.read(b);
while (ch > -1) {
   System.out.print(new String(b, 0, ch));
   ch = is.read(b);
}...I see this...
POST / HTTP/1.1

  • C# socket and java socket

    hello
i am a java programmer, recently we got a project, that need the c# app to communicate with java app ,i select the socket as intermediate.
i notice that java socket term is divided into " blocking" and "non-blocking",the latter come from jdk1.4, the c# socket is devided into "synchronized" and "asynchronized" and both of them are blocking,
in my project,i have tried synchronized c# socket coorperating to blocking java socket,it works well..but when i modify the c# app to ASYNCHRONIZED socket,my system DON'T works well,i don't know why? i can't find asynchronized socket in java,.i learn that nio socket is nonblocking, is it asynchronized?
who can tell me what's is the best solution for the socket communication between java and c#?

yes,i have read them, but it only tell me the communication between java apps, and DON'T tell me any clue about c# socket.

  • Trusted Solaris 8.0 socket calls

    Hello,
Does anybody have ANY idea on how I can incorporate the C TSOL calls into my Java program?
    I am truly lost here....
    -tx

I received the following reply from a Sun rep concerning this post.
"This is under active investigation and Sun does not yet know whether the Alert in question applies to TSol 8, nor what the potential vulnerability or impact will be in TSol 8. Even if TSol 8 contains the same affected code as standard Solaris 8 it does not mean that TSol is vulnerable to the same security exposure. If necessary a patch will be issued for TSol 8."
I will update this post as I find out more info. I am still interested If anyone else has more info.

  • Oracle on Solaris and JAVA app on Windows clients

hi im currently developing a JAVA app that accesses the data from an Oracle databse, these apps all running on windows clients. Im wondering the best way to access the database? is the JDBC the only way to do this.. thanks in advance

Yes, you can download a JDBC driver from Oracle. I think this site might do it:
    http://otn.oracle.com/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/content.html
I'm assuming that you're using the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver now to get into Access. You'll just have to change the name of the JDBC driver class and the database URL to connect to Oracle.
Once you have it, you'll have to make sure you put it in the right place for your app. If it's a Web-based app, it'll depend on the container you're running.

  • How to enable USB drive and CDwrite in Trusted Solaris.

    hello
I installed Trusted Solaris extensions in an X86 desktop and after that the cdwrite disappeared, the usb drive is not detected.
How do I enable the CD writer and the zip drive ? I have a file to be copied urgently, the USB drive doesn't work, the CD writer is not seen on the menu and internet / email is still not functional on this desktop
If there are some commands to be typed, please give me step by step instructions with command syntax and if there is a file to be altered please let me know where to find that file to be altered.
    Thank you.

    Hi Amit,
It's the same for Solaris. Take care about the line breaks in the document (sometimes one command seems to be two commands, it's one with parameters) and there is also a small bug: On page 6, step 5, it must read "Directory = topicmaps/example" (as printed in the screenshot).
    Hope it helps

    Hello,
Just a quick question: can we have an official position from Sun regarding support of earlier releases of Solaris with Java RTS 2.1? Our customer is currently running Solaris 10 Update 3 with current Recommended patches, and the 2.1 beta cyclic driver supported this version of Solaris. However with the official release version of 2.1, support for U3 disappeared (only U4 and U5 are now supported). Aside from "rubber stamping" the Solaris build via /etc/release, is there a technical reason why U3 is no longer supported? As long as our kernel is up to date, can we safely use 2.1? Or is it just a case of being unable to officially support and test so many releases of Solaris?
Is this a general rule-of-thumb we can expect in future: only supporting the last 2 updates of Solaris 10?
    Your advice is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dave.

  • JMS and Trusted Solaris

I have also posted this on the Trusted Solaris Forum, but I figured someone here might have an idea too.
Trusted Solaris 8 7/03 with application servers running at multiple classification levels. I can have single level producers and consumers communicate at each level, but I need a single consumer to be able to subscribe to topics at both levels.
    Thanks,
    Alan

Within Trusted Solaris, a port is a triple(ip:port:classification), not a tuple (ip:port). There are mechanisms within the C API to trusted solaris to bind to a MLS port. This is doable because the process is actually able to process multiple levels of data, however the JVM is running at a single level and is unaware that it is running on a MLS operating system. I am looking for either a clean way to tell the JVM to connect to a polyinstantiated port (and be able to read data whose label is dominated) or to communicate to a JVM running at a different classification.

  • Portal Server (JES1 version)  and Trusted Solaris

Federal Sales Opportunites are demanding more and more that Sun move to "Trusted Solaris" Does anyone know if the Portal Server that ships with JES would actually work on Trustes Solaris 8
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Adam

    hi sushmac,
I could start the portal server. basically it was a CACAO problem. I first checked whether my cacao was up or not. Actually the cacao was not up as I didn't had any JDMK home in my system . So, in the next step I downloaded SUNJDMK and then setted the jdmk home parameter for cacao as well as the Javahome parameter.. After this I rebuild the dependencies
    by ./cacaoadm rebuild-dependencies
and started the cacaodm. using ./cacaoadm start
after that I could easily run the configuration examples.
    thanks for ur help
I want some more details on cacao... from where can I get them..
    thanks

  • Java sockets and raw sockets

    Hello!
I have made my own file sharing program with Java sockets
and i have read a litle bit about raw sockets also.
What are the differences between Java sockets and raw sockets?

raw socket can have packet types which Java does not.
Generally if you need something useful which Java cannot do there is a utility already written which does what you want, e.g. ping and you can call that.

  • Java sockets and winsock

when I use java socket to talk to my proxy, without going through a winsock, my java applet runs fine. However, when I patch winsock in between my java gui and my other proxy, I dont receive anything in the gui. I snoop at packets coming from my other proxy through winsock to my gui and the data is all there. I just cannot receive it.
I use java class DatagramSocket() to establish a socket connection and use class DatagramPacket to get the packets coming. This works if I dont go through a ms proxy.
    Can anyone tell me why?

How can you snoop at packets comming? I need to know so bad. :-)
    Thank you

  • How to get a CA certificate installed in the web trust db from java servlet

    Hi all.
Hi, I have a web-app that requires a client certificate from a CA. The CA cert is in the trust db of the webserver. And I would like to get the CA certificate (X509Certificate) corresponding to the issuer of the current client certificate of the request. Is there an easy way of doing this from a java servlet?
I'm using Sun Java System Web Server 6.1
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for your quick answer.
I have to check the client certificate revocation status using ocsp protocol. I'm cheking ogro project ocsp library (http://dev.globus.org/wiki/Incubator/OGRO) to check this status against my CA validator agency. In order to use this library in my servlet to check the status I need both the client cert and the issuer cert. So that is why I need to get the CA cert from my trust db.
There is another way, I have the cert as file (the same I used to import the CA cert in my trust db), and I get the cert from the file. With this cert and the cert from the client I do the ocsp request and it works. But I trying to avoid having the CA cert in a file and recover the cert from the trust db.
    Thanks

  • Flex and Java on Desktop

    Hi
We are having this requirement , we want to develop a
application using flex for adobe AIR runtime which will communicate
with java in the desktop, we are not having any servers here, so
flex application want to communicate with java classes with out the
help of any server so I can't use httpservice, webservice or
    remoting .
I like to know the ways to communicate from flex 3.0(Adobe
AIR) to java files (java takes care of splitting PowerPoint
files and converting it into serious of jpeg files, and
creating ppt files from the objects returned from flex ).
Is there any other way to communicate form between flex and
java in the desktop ??? please give inputs
    Thiru

    Hi,
you could use XMLSocket or Socket classes depending on the
type of communication you want to stablish.
I have been testing this for a while although not for a
    project.
However my impression is that you need to install the AIR app
which is self-extracted and installed, but in second hand, you have
to install the Java app, that acts as a server, and it must be
executed every time your AIR app is, and the other way around.
Untill now I haven't got any idea on doing this without too
much work, but you can take a look at the Merapi project.

to configure acceptance of the ABAP (integrated ITS / WebGUI) saplogonticket on the java stack, just log into the java stack (http://FQDN:50xxx/nwa) and select configuration  THe last item in the list is Trusted System... click.
on the ensuing page, click on the add trusted system button --> by querying trusted sytem.
Enter the required data on the page:
    system type: ABAP
    host name: FQDN
    System Nr: your instance number
    client (of the productive client)
and a username and pw with superuser priveliges in the system (SAP_ALL/SAP_NEW, etc).
    the click next
On the final screen, click finish.
You have now SSO setup between the ABAP and Java stacks. To configure SSO to accept java saplogontickets on ABAP see:
