Select the photo(s) in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder (file menu ==> export) - see this user tip for export options - then be sure the card is not locked and in the finder verify available space and if it is adaquate drag that folder to it

No photos were copied because there is not enough free space
I only have one folder syncing photos to itunes and therefore the ipod. Only a couple of images in the folder.
I can sync when there is not much on my ipod and it says that the amount of space took up by photos is 2MB. I'm using an 8GB 3rd gen (2nd gen, whatever you want to call it...) with just under 150MB space left. The last time I checked, 2MB was significantly lower than 150MB, so why won't it sync photos? Does it need so much space free otherwise it won't even bother trying?try if this KB article helps: _*Photo Sync creates iPod photo Cache*_.

I get the message 'your startup disc us full' at random time points. I'm trying to import photos to iPhoto and get'iPhoto cannot import your photos because there is not enough free space on the volume containing your iPhoto library'. This is a new Macbook Pro and all my files were transferred from my old Macbook.
What size internal drive do you have and how much of it is used?

I keep getting the following error message despite only having about 4000 pics in my iphotos; iPhoto cannot import your photos because there is not enough free space on the volume containing your iPhoto library. I have tried moving my iphotos library to an external Hard Drive and starting a new library but still it will not allow any more to be loaded.
What version of iPhoto?
try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database

I can no longer import photos from my PC because I get this message: iPhoto cannot import your photos because there is not enough free space on the volume containing your iPhoto library. How can I fix this problem?
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

I have IPhoto version 9.5.1. I cannot export pictures since the following message appears: "iPhoto cannot import your photos because there is not enough free space on the volume containing your iPhoto library." What am I suppose to do? I have a Mac mini which properly used can perform any reasonable task, the problem is I do not know what to do.
Any help will be appreciated.Hmm... that was labelled:
As a Test:
In bold and all
Try repair the main Library:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I really need help because my ipod mini isnt working correctly my mom just gave it to me and The iPod “TAMI DUGARD’s iPod” cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the selected items (additional 146.5 MB required). it says this. Over and over when i try to sync it too my itunes what does this mean and its a 4gb
It means you try to sync an amount of content to your iPod Mini that exceeds for 4 GB, or the amount of space that is available on the iPod. See this article for more details.

"no photos were copied to the ipod because there is not enough free space"
i've been trying to download photos on my nano for weeks and i always receive this message :
"no photos were copied to the ipod because there is not enough free space on the ipod to hold your photos and albums."
the weird thing is that there IS free space; i actually made some (there are 18 available MB right now on my nano). and the folder containing the photos i am trying to download is far from 18 MB. but i still get the same message.
anyone knows what i could do?? thanks!!R U sure you have enough space? Double check to make sure you are only trying to upload the pictures you want on your ipod not all the pictures on your computer (more than 18 MB).

I cannot import my pictures and movies from a DVD - What does this mean when I get a computer message on my Mac -
"I photo cannot import your photos because there is not enough free space on the volume containing your I photo library"It means pretty much what it says - your HD is full.
This can arise because your HD is full - how big is your HD? How much free space on it?
Or it can be a mis-report due to to other issues.

annot sync ipad. statement "ipad cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the selected items (additional 157.3 mb required) There is 1.86gb available on ipad and i am trying to remove items. any thoughts...
If you haven't changed your sync preferences, meaning that you are not trying to add more content from the last time that you synced with iTunes, try quitting iTunes, restart your computer and then try again.
If you are trying to add more content to the iPad than what you had before, you can only use so much of the available storage capacity that is left on the device. You probably need to leave about 10% of the space free so if you have a 16GB iPad, you might not have enough space left to sync that content that you are trying to sync. -
bought drakes new album and connected my ipod to my computer. When the ipod was trying to sync, a box popped up that read Ipod cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the itunes library (additional 142.2 mb required)
Hi Terri 4514,
If you are having a "free space" alert when you try to sync, you may find the following article helpful:

I lost my contacts and calendar, and photos since the iOS update and and it states that my iPhone cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 1 MB required). Also it shows that I am over capacity on my Capacity ruler but how do I unload some of that stuff so that I can increase my capacity and perhaps get this synching to work again.
So frustrating!!On your iPhone go to settings>general>about and next to "Available" if you dont have much space then you will need to delete stuff on the phone to make room to take photos by deleting stuff on the phone.
In terms of syncing change what you are syncing and decide what you would really want and not want on your phone which would make what is syncing to the phone smaller. -
I try to sync my nano and get: the ipod cant be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the items library (need 100MB) - I have a new computer?? can you help me understand this message: what to do?
Hello pryan1012,
What this message means is that you have more music in your itunes library than there is free space in your ipod.
I had this same issue at one time. This is what helped me put my music on the ipod. I used manually manage.
Learn how to sync muisc here.
Hope this helps.

Recently downloaded new itunes when laptop upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. Tried disconnecting and resyncing but that does not work.
The bar across the bottom of my itunes is not full for either device & I don't have an unusually high amount of 'other' on either device. I am only trying to sync the same amount of music etc as I had before the new itunes, so it should fit onto the devices no problem. There are no duplicate songs in the new itunes.
Completely stuck!I suspect the upgrade has confused the mechanism by which iTunes compares what is on the device already with what your sync options imply will be added. In each case backup the device and then immediately restore the device from its backup. I take it all media is in the library and you're not getting erase & sync messages. Otherwise, or if you sync any contact information, then take a look at Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for some tips.
