Trying to configure printing preferences

Need help badly!
We are using Adobe Reader 10 over Citrix and I am unable to locate where the print preferences are stored. Used several registry capture tools in an attempt to identify how to force the "Fit" print option.
Can't find anything on the internet besides a ton of the same question.
Can anyone help identify where these settings are stored? Thanks you very much for your help!

Well I can start by saying that it should never take 2 weeks of searching to figure out how to configure your product. Adobe should be ashamed of themselves. These settings are not even in the configuration guide or the AIM for Acrobat that "supposedly" has all of the policy settings. Theres a bprintCommentPopups but no bprintExpandToFit, oops!
The settings that will force the print dialoge to "Fit" are these:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\AVGeneral]
"bprintExpandToFit"=dword:00000001
"iprintScaling"=dword:00000002
Thanks to my teammate who spotted it in an exported registry file.

  • Im trying to configure my printer 'Canon PIXMA MX3170' - however, I get Error during installation

Im trying to configure my printer 'Canon PIXMA MX3170'  -
I followed the following steps mentioned on some site:
"Follow below steps to setup Canon MG3100 printer to wifi using WPS function (by a button push on the wireless router/access point)
Press and hold maintenance button on printer. (button with screw driver and cutting pair symbol)
Now the LED should flash as '_'
Press and hold 'Fit to Page" button, now LED should flash as single dash moving vertically.
Once the LED flash is confirmed, press and hold WPS button on router/access point for about five seconds.
Printer should stop the flashing and LED should be back to normal displaying '1'.
This completes the setup and you are ready to use your printer wireless ".
    However,
1.LED on my printer flashes 1-2-3-E instead of a steady 1.
    2. Error message during installation : "An error occurred while communicating with the printer"
    3. Im using a netgear router - and I don't know what is an access point and how to configure it for the printer.
    4. I think I pressed the right button - (WPS button) - button with symbol  having a tower emitting waves.
My installation as a result - failed. Need your help.
    Thanks,
    Aditya

  • Where does Acrobat Reader store its print preferences?

I'm trying to print a file directly with no human interaction using Acrobat Reader. To do such, I'm using the command line arguments "acrord32.exe /t filename \\printerlocation\printer".
Printing works just fine except for one detail: some of my pdf files need printing with "Auto Rotate and Center" checked and "Page Scaling" to "None", while others need "Auto Rotate and Center" unchecked and "Page Scaling" to "Fit to Printable Area"...
I've realised that Acrobat Reader stores its last selected preferences (if you close Acrobat and re-open it, these two settings are still set as they were the last time you closed Acrobat) but the question is... where?!
I've noticed the bprintAutoRotate and the bprintExpandToFit keys in the registry under (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\AVGeneral) and they even change their values whenever I change the options in Reader and close the application, but changing them through my application seems to have no effect - I see the values changing in the registry but Acrobat still prints (and displays if I open the print preferences dialog) the last settings it had memorized before I changed them in my application...
Is there any other location where Acrobat stores these printing preferences? Is there a way to change these settings through the windows registry or any other configuration file(s)?!
By the way, I'm using Acrobat Reader 8.1.3.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Michael!
    Maybe
HD > Users > Your Account > Library > Preferences: com.apple.internetconnect.plist this one?
    Good Luck!

  • Adobe PDF printing preferences vanishing

We have Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 installed on Windows server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2 and Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 is also installed on it.Users work on citrix desktops and use the Adobe printer for converting their orders which would come in their Outlook mail to PDF before dispatching them. For some reasons the printing preferences from the Adobe printer under the printer and faxes are missing. I am attaching the sceen shots. Iam unable to configure the printing preferences as in Pic 1. The only solution we have is to reinstall adobe and it would restore the printing preferences as in Pic 2 but after a day or two it would again be like the one mentioned in PIC 1 .We also have trend micro antivirus installed on the Citrix servers. We want the Adobe printer to retain the settings as in PIC 2. We also tried upgrading the product to version 9 but in vain. I am not sure what is causing this to happen can any body help please....

Your use of Acrobat in this manner violates the Acrobat's License. You should check out the Livecycle products, they are licensed for use on a server to service multiple users.

  • I cannot install a Canon MX420 printer to my Imac.  It will not show up in the printer preference bar

I am trying to install an all-in-one printer CanonMX420 and the printer is not showing up as a printer option.  At a loss

Have you downloaded latest drivers from Canon web site ?
Have you tried setting the printer using its IP address ? (you can configure it either from the web interface embeded within the printer or via the config screen)
Mine is just showing up in the preference pane. My only issue (after having setup vuescan and removing it) is that I can not access it using default interface. I have to use VueScan and nothing else...
    But i's working fine.

  • Managing Printer Preferences

I'm new to OS X Server, to so please forgive my naivety.
What I wish to do is add a printer to the printers list for every user in a group, so that I don't have to sit down to configure each of the 60+ computers that these users use.
The network accounts are automatically imported to OS X server from an Active Directory domain (Windows Server 2008 R2) and added to groups on the Mac server. Two of the printers I'm trying to configure are hosted on a Windows server, and one is a network printer that I've added to the Mac server.
I've tried to manage the groups printer preferences via Workgroup manager: Always Manage, printers added to the User's Printer List, users are allowed to modify the printer list, printers connected via USB are OK, no admin password required. When I log in as one of the managed users, however, no printer is visible.
What is the correct way to do what I am trying to do? Thank you.

The various settings for iTunes can be managed - but the update check isn't one of them, unfortunately. You can use the Prefs Editor (Details) in WGM to add the iTunes preference manifest to your mcx settings and set the acceptable values for your site from there. I have posted a simple guide at my .Mac site to walk you through this - iTunes v7 has a few more settings than the iTunes v5 I used for the guide, but the steps still apply.
Also - as an FYI - prefs in the ByHost folder can be added to WGM and they become universally applicable. Only prefs with raw data cannot be used.

I am trying to install Create PDF.  I have reached a screen that tells me to put some information into the Configure Printer Port.  What Configure Printer Port?  Where??

    Hisami,
    I just tried that.
The printer preference on the control panel was set as  "p ortrait", so I changed it to "landscape", but it still created the pdf in "portrait".
So I changed the printer preference, and I checked the printer properties, and they both were set for  "landscape", but the pdf was still created in "port rait".
Is there any other setting , which may be the problem??
    Thank you.

  • Cannot change my printer preferences

    Dear Hp technicians:
Hi I'm from Mexico and I just loged in to my hp e-print center and it took me here. My problem is I find it really difficult to log in from my country coz' hp connected doesn't work, it simply just don't let my Log in.      I found that visiting hp connected-uk is the only way to log  in. But then,  I'm loged in, but I cannot change my printer preference coz' the button  doesn't exist, the one that used to say "Change setting"  is now just simple text.  How can I go back to e-print center instead of HP connected..... Please this is driving me crazy!
    I need your help

Hi there, if you've updated your ePrintCenter account to HP Connected you can't revert back. Check out this thread for more information on the change from ePC to HP Connected http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/ePrint-Print-Apps-Mobile-Printing-and-ePrintCenter/HP-Connected-Support...
Can you reply with a screenshot showing exactly what it is you're trying to change? Is it a setting of a printer in the Device tab or is it something in the "Settings" dropdown menu at the top right of the screen below?

  • How to allow domain users to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in Printer Preferences

    Hi
I am able to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in Printer Preferences in admin login but not able to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in domian users login...
can I have a solution to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in domin user login

WOW! I was amazed to see that within minutes of posting my initial thread, I tried something that works.
Apparently, the only way is will actually convert is if you select the regular Print option in the File tab. Then, change the Printer to Adobe PDF & the Paper Size to 11x17. It also worked for 36"x48" becuase I created a custom size named "Poster", so I changed the paper size to Poster & it worked!
I hope this helps someone. I searched for an existing forum on this issue off & on for MONTHS before creating this thread. If anyone has any suggestions why the Adobe PDF tab /PDF Maker wouldn't work, I'd like to know.

  • HP Photosmart Premium: can no longer see printer preferences

I have successfully used my HP Photosmart Premium for the past 2 years.  I am printing from a Win7 computer/64-bit.
Unfortunately, within the past month (?) I noted that I can no longer access the option for "Print Preferences"... which means I can no longer print photos, adjust whether I want color ink used when printing BLACK, etc. I am stuck with default.
I've seen other threads on this but didn't see my combo so just want to know what to do. I tried rebooting both the computer and printer and I still can't print photos or utilize preferences. HELP!

    Hello Miss_Understood,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to open the printer preferences on your computer. I will do my best to assist you! Please run this tool called the Microsoft Fix it. What it fixes:
You are unable to install a printer, connect to a printer, or print more than one job at a time
You receive an error indicating your Print Spooler service is experiencing problems
You receive an error indicating your <PRINTERNAME> is not the default printer
You receive an error indicating: <PRINTERNAME> cannot be contacted over the network
Identify if your printer is turned off
Identify if your printer toner is low or empty causing your print job to appear faint or it does not print at all
Identify if your printer paper is low or empty
Identify if the printer has a paper jam which is preventing it from operating normally
Identify if a print job that is in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing
Identify if you need to update your print driver
You receive an error stating that your Plug and Play printer %PRINTERNAME% has encountered a driver problem
If this doesn't resolve your issue, then try uninstalling the software by following this HP document here.
Next, you want to clean out your Temp folder by following this document here.
Now, perform a clean boot on your computer by following this Microsoft document here. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program. Once this is complete, please use the printer install wizard to install the software.
Please post your results. Have a good night!

  • Access Denied When Trying To Install Printer - Windows 7

    Good Day
I have a serious problem on a client's computer. All I need to do is connect the laptop to a network printer, but I am having a lot of difficulty in doing so.
First the details of the laptop: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit connected to network using ETH cable. Avira Professional antivirus running, firewall disabled on pc, user is member of administrators group only.
Details of the printer: Xerox Workcentre 3220, connect to network using ETH cable, but also shared on pc also running Windows 7 64-bit Professional.
I am able to ping the printer and have connected all the other pcs on the network to the printer without any troubles whatsoever. Printing, scanning - everything is working fine for the other pcs. I am also able to connect to shares from the laptop to any
    other pc.
So here is my issue with this specific laptop:
Firstly, when using the "Add Printer" wizard, the "Add a local printer" option is greyed out.
So I tried connecting to the printer using the"Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer" option, which seemed to be working, but during installation it gives an Access Denied error and undoes the installation.
Then I tried connecting to the share of the printer on one of the other pcs, which had the exact same result.
I then tried to modify an other printer, by firstly trying to add a new Local Port, but the I recieve the following error: "Specified port cannot be added. Access is denied."
I tried then adding the driver using the Windows Print Server, but the buttons were unavailable.
After reading on many forums, I accessed the Print Management console (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Print Management)m and tried adding the printer and ports there, but recieved an "Access Denied" error every time.
Basically whatever I tried, I recieved "Access Denied" errors. I created a new user, which is only a member of the Administrators group. Logged in with new user, without any success in connecting to the printer. I then tried adding security permisssions
for "everyone" to the folder C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS, as I read on another forum. I tried modifying the group policy using gpedit.msc and also using the Local Security Policy, although I could have missed some things in these two places,
but basically with a quick glance, everything seemed fine. I am sure there are no virusses, etc on this laptop and as I have said all the other pcs connected to the printer very easily.
How can it be that I cant install a printer on this laptop, while I was able to do so a year or so back?
I have gotten a few suggestions that it will in the end just save me time by formatting the pc and reloading all the data and programs, but this isn't an option I really want to take. And then I have previously had issues with the "Add a local printer"
option greyed out and unable to add printers, etc, but then I was able to solve the problem by creating a new user and then switching to that user - which indicated a possible user profile corruption. But in this case even that did not work.

    Hi,
    please check your below configuration:
1.Start the policy editor (Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Local security policy)
    2.Select “Local policy” item
3.Find the item “Devices: Prevent Users from Installing Printer Drivers” in the section Security Settings -> Security Options and change it to Enabled
4.Go to “Security Settings -> User Rights Assignment” section and check, that “Load & Unalod Drivers” option contains the active user group. It important, that even if it has “All Staff” already, it still could miss “Administrators” group, so it’s necessary
    to add it manually.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro: Printing Preferences display issue

    Hi everyone,
A user reported an issue with the PDF Printer Preferences drop-down menus running outside the window and that there should be more checkboxes below the three that are showing (see screenshots).
Here is a screenshot of this same window on a coworker's machine (same version of Adobe and Windows).
We are using Windows XP SP3. Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (version 9.3.1), and current video driver. The resolution is currently set to max, but I tried a few other resolutions but they made no difference on how the PDF Printing Preferences displayed. I've tried repairing, uninstalling, restarting, and then reinstalling but none have done the trick yet. I also have checked the DPI settings and it is set to Normal.
If you have any advise, please let me know.
    Thanks!

    SOLUTION:
The issue was somehow related to DPI (START > Settings > Control Pannel > Display > Settings Tab > Advanced button). Eventhough the DPI was set to normal, I switched it to LARGE, restarted the machine, logged in after the reboot, changed it back to normal size, restarted again, logged in once more, checked the Printer Preferences and PRESTO --- a properly displayed window.

  • I am on Acrobat DC trial. On earlier versions have no problem with duplex printing. Now with DC, it's impossible. I have tried downloading latest printer software, etc, etc. Nothing seems to0 work. Any ideas please?

Ralph, Thanks for replying. There where no received SIP messages at all just the INVITE being sent but I have made some more progress. The mini does indeed just work. I can do everything that you are supposed to do to other ichat users on the internet. Very nice.
The imac is still playing up but I have got further. I had peerguardian2 installed which unknown to me doesn't need to be running to prevent you for accessing 'barred' IP addresses. snatmap.mac.com is barred in the lists! I discovered this when I saw one of your other posts showed how to turn on terminal logging for ichat. Now that I have turned off peerguardian2 (using the disable filters option) I can make calls to the testbot and see the adverts. I have even done a video conference with the two testbots. I will just uninstall peerguardian2.
However, I can not get a AV chat working to a real user....
    In response to your suggestions:-
I have tried all the options for quicktime streaming but will try 1.5Mb/s again.
The ichat bandwidth limit is set to "none". I am in New Zealand and I have standard ADSL (not ADSL2+) 7.6M down 512K up. The mini config is also set to none.
    Internet sharing is off.
I have had parallels on the machine but the two interfaces that it installed "Parallels Host-Guest" and "Parallels NAT" are configured 'off' and show as not connected. Is this enough? I will uninstall parallels and see if that helps since I don't use it. I also have VMware's thing installed but that doesn't seem to add any interfaces.
I need to capture a full trace of the imac to other ichat user to see what is happening but will update when I have does your suggested changes or have a trace
    Thanks again

  • Problem with Printing Preferences Acrobat XI on Windows 7

I just upgraded from Acrobat X Std to XI Pro on both my Windows 7 desktop and Windows 8 laptop.  The laptop works fine, but on the desktop I'm not able to print to the Adobe PDF printer from Word or Excel or Chrome.  I noticed that the Adobe PDF Printing Preferences do not display any options for Default Settings or Adobe PDF Security.  I did find the Standard.joboptions file in the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings folder on both machines.  What could be the problem?

No files appeared in C:\Users\Pavilion\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings but they did appear in Distiller.
I tried to copied them from C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Settings, but found they were already there.  I copied them by adding -COPY before .joboptions in the name.  Now they appeared in  Printing Preferences with the -COPY added.
I tested a print from Word (using File / Print), but was not prompted for the filename or location.  I checked my entire system and couldn't find the PDF file anywhere.  I tried changing the Port to Desktop\*.pdf using Printer Properties, but that didn't work either.
I was able to successfully use the Acrobat menu item in Word & Excel to create a PDF but it automatically created the file on the Desktop without an option to change the filename.
After several days and hours, I gave up and installed Acrobat X on the W7 computer.  I can still use Acrobat XI on the W8 computer.  So be it!
Thanks anyway for your attempts to help.
