Trying to converse thru webcams with PC user

I am using a mac IbookG4 laptop- my boyfriend has a dell PC laptop. I have the Isight webcam with microphone built into it. We can't reach a connection to each other, I am using IChat and he is using AIM. We can send invitations to each other, but when i get one from him and hit accept, nothing happens. A message appears that says "andra king (me) has failed to respond." Can anyone please help me and let me know what the problem could be? Thank you

I do video with PCs from my Mac/iChat AV/iSight almost every day. It works well for most of us the first time and with varying amounts of trials, configuration, and setup effort for others. A very few cannot ever make it work. Those cases are rare, though, so try all the suggestions you can find. You will most likely be successful.

My suggestions cover the entire range, so some may not apply to you, but try ALL that you do not KNOW they are not a part of your problem. There are suggestions in there for your PC pals to apply, too.
If you are new to iChat or iSight, be sure to consider the other suggestions linked there, like those in Using iSight with iChat AV. For instance, as recommended there, you should

update to Mac OS X (10.3.9). It resolves many significant issues with older versions, including (10.3.3), which you report using.
Both you
b and your chat buddies
should try connecting with several others to determine whose system is causing the problems. There is no need to try things at both ends unless you know that both ends have problems.

As far I can see your screenshot, there are two different ways you can do this.
a) We suggest when you use such custom webcam configurations, you should use your WebcamPublisher and WebcamSubscriber classes and your start/stop button instead of the pod itself. And in a WebcamSubscriber, you need to set the publisherIDs property to only the user stream you want to show.
By default, a WebcamSubscriber shows all streams , however if you set the publisherIDs property then you would see only those user streams whose ID you provided to that WebcamSubscriber instance. You can get more help of how to use WebcamPublisher and WebcamSubscriber component instead of the Webcamera pod component directly , in our WebCamera example in examples folder.
b) If you are directly using the WebCamera class, then you need to subsclass it ( to get access to the _sbsSubscriber value ) . _sbsSubscriber is the embedded WebcamSubscriber object that the WebCamera Class uses internally. Then set the _sbsSubscriber.publisherIds to the whose stream you want to show like i discussed in point A. It will then only show that stream.
The way currently WebCamera is organized is that it internally contains a WebcamPublisher and a WebcamSubscriber to publish and receive streams respectively. Whenever you are building custom UI with specific requirements, we suggest you to use WebcamPublisher and WebcamSubscriber components instead of the WebCamera pod component directly i.e. point a) above. With the WebcamPublisher and WebcamSubscriber, you can have more power and build any of your own UI according to your requirements

I can't start a conversation in iMessage with iPhone users (from iPad mini)

I can start a conversation with my friend that use iPad 2, but I cannot start a conversation with all iPhone users (I put their phone number). It says that the number that I inputted is not connected with the iMessage. So, I just cannot start a conversation unless they start the conversation first (they text me first by iMessage), then I can reply their message. Is there anything I do to solve this problem?

iMessage works with multipple emails and phone numbers.
If you dont have the correct iMessage ID (can be a phonenumber or email address) in your address boook you cant start the conversation.
When you create a new messeage and enter the recipient name you should see a blue bubble for the correct iMessage address.
If you dont see it check on your friends iPhone under Settings - Message - send recieve what address he is using for iMessage.
Sometimes it takes a few minutes until changes get registered at the apple servers

Portal trying to connect to syndicator with wrong user

I'm trying to create my first KM syndicator / subscriber. The problem I'm running into is when creating a subscriber. When prompted to enter the connection information I supply the URL and my username and password for the source portal server. When clicking the Get Catalog button I receive the below error.
What seems odd is that the error mentions the user Guest and not my username.

The current version of iTunes is 12.x.x and requires OS X later than Snow Leopard.

Is Screen Sharing with multiple users possible?

I am trying to discuss some documents with multiple users. It works very well with just two users sharing the screen of one of them, so I was wondering if there was a way to have a third user participating. If iChat does not allow this, does anyone know a different software solution?

Trying to access runtime services with admin user returns a "Authentication Denied
The username or password has been refused by Runtime Services. Please try again."
Credentials are correct. It seems to be some kind of lockout. I´ve copied this admin user entry in ldap and named it admin2, this "new" user can perfectly log.
As it could be a lockout I have unlocked the user although the proper tab said there was no locked user.
The realm is in a openldap.
Any hint would really be appreciated.

File system management when sharing photos/music with other users in Mac OS

I'm a new convert from the Windows world. I'm trying to setup multiple accounts for each user within my household. However, I'd like us to all share the same set of folders for photos within iPhoto and music in iTunes. Is it best to just used the "shared" folder instead of keeping them in the standard home directory and trying to share those folders with other users? What is the best approach to this. I would imagine most people do this for managing their music if not photos as well. Just trying to learn best practice on the file system management before I copy over gigs of files from my old PC.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. This might help with iPhoto.
There are two ways to share, depending on what you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. then:
Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. You could also use a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
Finally: If you’re comfortable in the Terminal, and understand File Permissions, ACL’s etc., some folks have reported success using the process outlined here . (Note this page refers to 10.4, but it should also work on 10.5). If you’re not comfortable with the terminal, and don’t know an ACL from the ACLU, then you’re best doing something else... Oh, and the warning about simultaneous users still applies.

there are standard EDI VMI messages likes orders/ ordersp/invrep
which can be used in all VMI scenarios in SAP and in non SAP env.
so in terms of multiple customers you should be using what your GS1 org or similar is proposing
in your country - so you can add other clients in the same way
if you use an EDI broker they usually have a predefined standard (EDI or XML)
which can be easily used

In trying to share music with multiple user accounts on one comp, I quit itunes, located my itunes media folder, moved it to a publicly accessible location. Problem is it didn't work and now I can't get it all back to the way it was.

In trying to share music with multiple users on one computer, I followed the directions on "iTunes:How to share music between different accounts on a single computer" (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1203). I did something wrong because i lost iTunes
Tried to put files back, but it is not the same. Plugged in my ipod and it is not recognizing my computer.
Can someone tell me where iTunes should be, and what sub files should be included with it. Thanks!

If you are seeing the "Connect to iTunes" logo, then your device is in Recovery Mode, and you will need to restore it:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

Now, my Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise server are running in the domain. It have problem about some one in my team have remote my server with the user administrator while I'm remote it now. It make my session loss. I tried to remote it again but I found
the message at the log on screen about "The task you are trying to do can't be completed because Remote Desktop Services is currently busy. Please try again in a few minutes. Other users should still be able to log on."
Now, nobody can't remote with administrator user into this server. I have check the application log. I found the error message like this.

The cause of unable to remote back to the server seems to be services hung, please try to reset session as the article below guides to see if it works:

You need to install Java for your Mac OS version, and/or make sure it's enabled in the Java Preferences application and your browser's preferences.

Can you give more details? What exactly is the entire error message text? there should be an error number too. Are you trying to finalize this to an external disk?
