Trying to create a table but being denied access

Hi everyone,
I'm relatively new to APEX. I've been building applications on the apex installation we have at my job, but this is the first time i've actually tried installing this stuff at home.
I was successfully able to get 10g XE installed at home, and i was able to upgrade apex to 3.0.1.
I logged into apex (i tried both the SYSTEM account and the extra workspace developer account i made) and i tried creating a table, but kept getting the following:
Creating table "TESTTABLE" failed.
Failed Creating Table ORA-01031: insufficient privileges ORA-00942: table or view does not exist ORA-06510: PL/SQL: unhandled user-defined exception
The interesting thing is that I was able to make the table if i chose NOT to have a primary key generated. But if i tried to make a table that had a primary key "Populated from a new sequence" then that above error resulted.
Anyone have a clue on how I can fix this problem?
Thanks!
-John

John:
I recommend that you login to the administration interface as the ADMIN user, and create a new workspace. Once you create a new workspace with a new schema, you should not experience the problem you describe. First, make sure you follow Step 3, of the How to Upgrade section of the following document:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.0.1_and_xe.html
This will change the password for the ADMIN account. Now go to:
http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin
Supply ADMIN for the username and the password you supplied following Step 3 in the document above. Click Manage Workspace, Create Workspace, and then complete the wizard to create a new workspace.
Thanks,
Jason

  • On a tabbed panel, I am trying to create a form, but...

On a tabbed panel I am trying to create a form, but I am having a couple of issues.
The coding on my form is yellow - I can't figure out what is wrong. Also, I can't see the tab on the browser, only in live view. I haven't loaded it to my site as I haven't finished it yet. I don't want to go any further, until I solve the issues I have now. Any ideas?
    thanks,

Okay, I loaded the page under a different name http://abilityaxis.com/test.html. Viewing the source code doesn't show the yellow.
For demonstration purposes I copied a small amount of the text and changed the colour of what is yellow in Dreamweaver to this pinkish colour (I tried yellow but you couldn't read it)

  • Trying to post my question and being denied, why?

I had an incident happen on my MacBook Pro and needed help with it. I created my question and clicked POST. After I clicked POST nothing happened and it appeared my question did not post. I thought something went wrong with posting my MacBook Pro question. I checked my activity page and looked for my new entry and it was not listed. I went back and tried to post again. This time I was sent a pink banner that read "You are not allowed to create or update this content." At the bottom of my question box it said "Auto-saved" with the date and time listed. I am confused now. I have searched all over looking for my question. It's no where. What has happened to my posted question? Why am I being denied access to it?

The Forum is haunted with glitches, you ran in to two. If you get the you can't post message first refresh the page if that doesn't work try a little later. If you get the message auto-saved versions etc,. tap recover or type a new question. If you find your question is in the wrong Forum reply to yourself and ask if someone will ask a host to relocate your post.

I don't know if that works on the iPhone, but....
View your SETTINGS and choose ICLOUD. That will give you your cloud settings. At the very bottom it has a delete button. Click it an see what happens. After deleting the account (and potentially loosing data connected with it) you should be able to log in to iCloud using your old id.

Thanks for your helpYou didn't add 2 to the space character, so is that to be treated special?
Anyway, you have a String. That String has a length() to tell you how long of a loop you have to do. That String also has a charAt(index) method to give you a character while you're looping thru it. And I assume you know how to add 2 to a character value, and append that character to a new String or StringBuilder or StringBuffer until you're done with the loop.

This is wonderful Peter, great advice. I got to have my latest version before I created my table of contents.
In Pages > Menu > File > Revert
    and see what you get.

    Thank you so much!!

  • Created a user with permissions to one table, but unable to access the table

I've tried to create a Login that will have access to a single table from a few different databases.
When I try and query the table, using the created Login I get the following error:
"The server principal "log_Reader" is not able to access the database "MyDB" under the current security context."
Here's the SQL I used to create the Login/User:
    USE MASTER
    GO
    CREATE LOGIN log_Reader
    WITH PASSWORD = '<password>'
    GO
    USE DB1
    GO
CREATE USER log_Reader FOR LOGIN log_Reader
GRANT SELECT ON dbo.logtable TO log_Reader
    USE DB2
    GO
CREATE USER log_Reader FOR LOGIN log_Reader
GRANT SELECT ON dbo.logtable TO log_Reader
    USE DB3
    GO
CREATE USER log_Reader FOR LOGIN log_Reader
GRANT SELECT ON dbo.logtable TO log_Reader
    USE DB4
    GO
CREATE USER log_Reader FOR LOGIN log_Reader

Does anyone have any ideas what I've missed ?

  • Error while trying to create a table in SQL

I am fairly new to Visual Studio. I am using the Visual Studio 2012. So I had to create a project in MVC. I made the Views and the controllers. I did add a Database from, _AppDate->Add->New Item-> SQL Server Compact 4.0 Local Database.
Now that I am trying to create a new table from the Server Explorer window. Right click on Tables->Create Table. I'm getting the following error.
"Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTDiagM, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
I have no idea how to resolve this. Any help in this matter would be highly appreciated.
    Thank You.

    Hi Charvi,
What type of database/application are you trying to connect? Are you getting any error message?
Missing primary key message is just a warning and is not related to the issue.

  • Trying to create repeating table headings

I am creating an Excel table with many rows. In Excel, I can "freeze" the headings so user can always see them even when scrolling far down.
Is there any way to duplicate this behavior in a pdf or to repeat the table headings on every page when the table is viewed in Reader or when it is printed?
    Thanks,
    John

You can also create the tables programmatically using the CatalogManager APIs - have a look at ftcmd=createtable.  There is a GSF facade over creating tables too which is really easy to work with:
TableCreator (Sites GST: Site Foundation 11.6.0 API)
and here's an example of how to use it (check out the install() method):

  • Trying to create custom theme but not able to find it.

    Hi,
I am using Oracle 10g Database Express and APEX 4.0 and am trying to create a custom theme based on an existing one.
I have created a theme_100 folder in the filesystem as a copy of theme_8 and have edited the css file & changed the colours of the images using Infraview graphics editor.
I then have uploaded them into the DB using the WebDav function and can see the files when I run http://localhost:8080/i/themes/theme_100/
However, within the application builder when I create an application and choose a theme, mine is not showing.
Can you help me with whatever steps I am missing?
    Regards
    Adrian

The templates used by your new theme in apex(that you created when you copied) would still be referencing your old css path.
So update check the templates used in your new theme for the referred css files
<li>In Your new theme's page templates check for the directory path that point to the old theme and modify that
For example(I am using theme2 here)
      <link rel="stylesheet" href="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/css/theme_4_0.css" type="text/css" />
      <!--[if IE]><link rel="stylesheet" href="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/css/theme_4_0_ie.css" type="text/css" /><![endif]-->
      <!--[if IE 6]><link rel="stylesheet" href="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/css/theme_4_0_ie6.css" type="text/css" /><![endif]-->
<!--[if IE 7]><link rel="stylesheet" href="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/css/theme_4_0_ie7.css" type="text/css" /><![endif]-->Change the string in the CSS file path from theme_2 to theme_10 , assuming that it is in the same directory as the other themes. Else modify it appropriately.
Do this for all page templates(or atleast the ones you use).

  • ODBC error when trying to create template table

    Hi,
I am a new comer to BODS and am facing this basic issue. Every time I try to run the job I get this:
    976    3612    CON-120302    12/23/2013 2:48:37 AM    ODBC call <SQLDriverConnect> for data source <srvdc344111> failed: <[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server
976    3612    CON-120302    12/23/2013 2:48:37 AM    does not exist or access denied.>. Notify Customer Support.
I can see that the server does have the native client installed and also has the dsn(srvdc344111) is created on the server and client systems(local and system) from where the jobs is initiated. I have checked the two notes but that did not help much:  1514119    1468283
When I try to open a table from the designer using the server name as srvdc344111 I am able to do that successfully.
Would appreciate if someone can shed some light on this please. Is it because I am missing something?
    Thanks, all help welcome .
    Regards,
    Manish

    Hi Arun,
Thanks for all your help. Issue is now resolved.
Basically I have a issue on our network where it was required for the fully qualified domain name to be mentioned in the DataStore as the BODS server itself and the test server with the test DB are on separate domains.
Once I changed the server name to have the fully qualified domain name the connection was successful and the job ran successfully. Thanks again.
Funny thing was, I did not require the FQDN when using it in the DataStore in the designer, and this was because the Citrix server publishing the designer was in the same domain as the test DB server, whereas the BODS server is in a different domain from which it could not reach my test server without using the FQDN.
    Hope it makes sense .
    Regards,
    Manish
