The first argument in the ORA-600 is the OERR number. Unfortunately for you (unless you have a support contract),
Error:  ORA 2806  Text:   could not get background process to hold enqueue
Cause:  This is an internal error that is not usually issued. Action: Contact customer support. Cheers, APC

How to create database in 10g xe? could you please direct me to which documentation in 10g xe website? is it possible to create the db from the web console? if so, how? I can't seem to find a way to do it? Thanks

You cannot: there can only be one XE database per host and it's created when you install Oracle XE.

  • RAC: ocfs-option disabled when trying to create database with dbca.

    Hi everybody,
I have a really weird problem running dbca in my 2-node RAC installation on Red Hat ES.
The software version of both oracle clusterware and rdbms is 10.2.0.2.0, meaning the latest patchset has been applied.
I have installed and configured ocfs, and 4 different ocfs-partition are neatly presented to the operating system. I can save files and browse the ocfs file system, everything seems to be working fine.
Also, srvctl status nodeapps -n <nodename> shows that oracle clusterware is running nicely, all the components are up including the listener, which I used netca to configure.
However, when trying to create a cluster database using dbca, the option to use ocfs is not enabled, e.g it is "grayed out" in the Oracle Universal installer. So is raw devices option. The only option left is the ASM, which is selectable in the OUI.
In addition, I can indeed run scripts manually and create a single-instance database and use the ocfs-partitions for the datafiles, redo logs and archivelogs. No problems at all!
Do any of you guys have the slightest clue what can be causing this behaviour? Of course I have raised an issue with Oracle Support, but while waiting for an update, it doesn't hurt trying the forum.
I appreciate all suggestions, thanks for taking the time to read my posting.
    Best Regards,
    Vegard

  • How to Extract CREATE DATABASE for 10g?

I've seen utilities that will re-create the full 'CREATE DATABASE' syntax for a 8i or 9i database. I'd like to do the same thing for 10g that understands the features of 10g like SYSAUX and other new features. I looked at DBMS_METADATA but it doesn't really cover the CREATE DATABASE syntax.
Has any seen a routine to extract CREATE DATABASE syntax for a 10g database?

    Hi,
have you tried by using dbca?
Create a new template from existing db..

  • Problem while Creating Database in 10g

    Its very urgent.. Please Help..!!
After installing 10g (Standard Edition) on Windows 2000 Server, I started creating database through Database Configuration Assistant.
Instead of Oracle Home path, different path is specified for Database files.
In 'Step 11 of 12' of the 'Database Configuration Assistant' I specified the 4 new table spaces to create with respective memory sizes.
In 'Step 12' I selected 'Create a Database' and clicked 'Finish' button.
After 7% of the Database creation progress bar, it is giving the following error:
"ORA: 01092 ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced"
    And asking for Abort..
What could be the problem. Is it problem with installation or any other services to be started.
After 10g installation I restarted my system.
If required I'll provide some more information.
    Its very urgent...
    Thanks & Regards

  • Creating Database Manuallu

    Hello,
I'm trying to create database manually using the Create database statement, but i can't do that, because when i try to log to sqlplus i receive an adapter protocol error, so i can't start the instance after using the oradim utility, sp please if any one can give the steps to create db manually i will be thankful, the OS is windows XP service pack 2, database 10g release 2, thank u.

if you are installing on windows xp,
    1. please note that you have to create microsoft loop back adapter.
    2. set the environment variables ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME properly and then run the oradim utility.
    3. once the service is created and up and running, proceed with the db creation.
alternatively, use DBCA tool which is easy to use and takes care of everything.

I am getting following error when creating the database :

The error description is as follows :
Cause: An unexpected error occurred while performing a DIAG Group Service operation.

The setup is as follows :
    Database : Oracle 9i Rel 2.
    OS : IBM AIX 4.3.3
We are trying to create the database from sqlplus/dbca. It seems that in the database creation process it is throwing the error while it is trying to create the control files.

While installing the Oracle database software also it gave me a list of the 3 machines which are in HACMP cluster. We are not planning to setup RAC, but still it seems like while creating the database control files Oracle is trying to perform some group service operation.

Thanks a lot for all your responses. We found the issue. The issue was that when we installed 9i we selected Enterprise option which installed RAC also. And after that when we were trying to create database Oracle was thinking that we are trying to create database in RAC env. and most likely it was trying to create/sync the control files on all the machines in the cluster.
The sequence of events were as below :
    1. We have 8i installed on this machine
    2. We installed 9i (9.2.0.1.0) using the same ORACLE_BASE but different ORACLE_HOME. We didn't select "Custom Install". We selected "Enterprise install" option
    3. We installed new installer (2.2.0.18.0 ) and then 9i patch (9.2.0.4.0)
    4. While creating the database (manually & through DBCA) we were getting ORA-32700
    5. We tried to uninstall (using OUI 2.2.0.18.0) 9i (including the patch) completely but it never succeeded. We noticed that when we started uninstall it did show progress for about 20 minutes and after that it didn't show any progress. It was not taking any CPU cycles and It was not writing to the log file either. Basically we were never able to cleanly uninstall 9i. We tried almost 2 to 3 times.
    6. Then we installed 9i using a new ORACLE_BASE and this time we selected "Custom Install" and we did not install RAC. This is successful
    7. Then we installed new installer (2.2.0.18.0 ) and we tried to install the 9i patch (9.2.0.4.0) using this new installer but it never succeeded. Then we tried to install the 9i patch (9.2.0.4.0) using the old installer version (2.2.0.11.0) and it was also successful.
    8. Then we tried to create database using DBCA and it was successful and then we dropped the database which was created using DBCA and then we created it manually through SQLPLUS and this was fine too.
So basically what we learned from this exercise is that if we are installing 9i on a machine which is part of a cluster and if we don't plan to setup RAC then we shouldn't install RAC and we should do a custom install. I wish there was a option in create database stmt to tell Oracle that though we are creating database on a machine which is part of a cluster environment but we don't intend to setup RAC.
And other thing which is still a mystery is that why does the uninstall never completes successfully. One question on this : We were using the installer version 2.2.0.18.0 to uninstall the 9i software. Do we need to use the older version (2.2.0.11.0) of the OUI?

  • Creating Database Problem On WinME

I have installed Oracle8i Personal Edition on WinME. Its successful. Now When I am trying to create database I have problem. When I am creating a database with Typical Option and then copy existing files from CD there is no problem. But trying to create new database files then its taking too much time. It comes at 6% and I think it stuck... Anybody knows how much time it is taking in Creating new Database files? If this is the problem and by making any modification it can be solved, please guide me.
    Thanks in Advance

If you followed the instructions on setting the shared memory
parameters you may have a problem.
In the 'shmparam.h' file set SHMMAX to something smaller than 4G.
I just set mine to 2G or 0x7FFFFFFF and now it works fine.
I have done the Oracle 8.0.5 installation twice now on 2
different machines with success(1 Compaq Proliant 1500 -
    RH5.2/2.0.36 kernel and 1 GW2K - RH5.2/2.2.1 kernel) I ran into
several problems along the way but all problems were solvable.
