How do you install itunes on windows 7 its coming up as _exe instead of .exe  it doesn't appear to be a program file

    Are you sure it was error 0604 since I never heard of that error, it does not appear in the list of errors in the following and a search of Apple's support site gets no hits.  However, error 1604 is list and users have reported that error number.  If 1604 is the error number the following tell yu wnat to do when you click on that error number:

    I was able to fix mine. I went to software update and updated a few things. I did not update everything, but only what I thought were the essentials, which I believe was Safari, a security update, and a firmware update.
    Then I deleted and reinstalled Itunes yet another time. Now the itunes store is back up again.

    Let's try something relatively simple. Download and save a copy of the installer to your hard drive (don't run the install on line and don't start the install just yet):
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    Now right-click on the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) that you downloaded and select "Run as administrator".
    Does that go through any better for you?

    If you are having issues downloading and installing iTunes, or if your computer for some reason thinks you have already installed iTunes when you have not, you may want to try manually removing all of the associated iTunes files and reinstalling the application entirely from scratch.     Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
    Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
    Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
    The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
    Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  You may need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service.  This article has instructions for doing this:

    If you are not able to download or install iTunes due to insufficient priviliges, make sure that you are logged into your computer as an administrator:
    Make sure you have an administrator account.
    To install iTunes or QuickTime, you need to log in as an administrator on the computer.     I had the same problem with my phone, its a 3gs, out of no where my laptop stop recognizing it and wouldnt charge either, i got worried because i had all my pix and videos on my phone and didn't have a copy, so i started searching on the internet for an answer to my issue, bought extra usb cables, used different laptops and nothing worked .. Untill i took my cell phone apart and thought about replacing the (charge port assembly for apple Iphone 3gs) so ordered the part online and 3 days later got it and i just replaced it right now... and guess what/??? IT WORKED!!! YEAP.. NOW MY CELL IS CHARGING AND I JUST SYNC MY STUFF.. I HOPE THIS CAN SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM... AND ONLY COST ME 8 DLLS
