trying to download software from 3.1.3 to newer software can someone please advise?
He likely has a 1G (original) iPod touch. Those can only go to iOS 3.1.3. A 2G can go to 4.2.1.

The backup and restore from the iCloud was a little unnerving since the restore erased all information from the iPod. The iCloud backup and restore took a long time, but worked. I was very grateful.
Trying again to backup to iTunes locally proved to be the same challenging problem. The same backup to corrupt file was the message. The status bar showing backup seemed to move faster to start, but then slowed to a creep toward the end before the error.
When trying to restore a backup in iTunes, the "Restore" button is grayed out since it is looking for a local copy. Any restore would need to be from the iCloud which already worked but isn't the final solution.
Your suggestions were good, I am just in the same boat. Any thoughts about doing the following?
1) creating a cloud backup
2) resetting the iPod to factory defaults
3) removing all traces of iTunes from my computer and
4) installing iTunes and setting up iPod from scratch.
This is the next thing on my list. -
I just got a new iPhone 4 and i tried to download some songs from my itunes account onto my phone and it bricked my phone! So I can't use my phone, it's locked. It shows a plug going into an adaptor frozen on my phone. How can I resolve this problem? I got my phone at Verizon yesterday so I went back to see if they could help me today and they didn't know anything about it at the Verizon store. Theyy said to try IMac store here in town...
Ask the Verizon store to exchange your iPhone for a different iPhone 4.

I am trying to download my contacts from my iTunes to my new iPhone. I never did a back up on my old one. So I tried simply downloading whats on my itunes contacts list and that didn't work either.
iTunes does not have a contacts list and only stores contacts in a back up file. You need to check if there is a back up that was made when the contacts were on the phone. If you do locate one then you would need to restore from that back up to get the contacts back on the phone.

I am trying to download photoshop presets from online but can't seem to figure out how to open them in photoshop. Hi all, I'm trying to download a film from iTunes onto my iPad but downloaded the HD version instead of SD and don't have the room to download it. Have removed everything I can to make space but still need another 1.2 GB. Is there any way I can delete it so I can delete the version I wanted, or even better change to the SD version? The film is still queuing in the downloads list. I've tried edit and delete but that doesn't work. I also can't re-download the film from iTunes.

I deleted my iMovie from computer and from my purchases list in AppStroe. When I'm trying to download it again from App Store a pop up window comes up and says: "These apps were already assigned to your Apple ID and are available in your Purchases list". Please help me to reinstall it.
If new versions of iPhoto and the other iLife applications (iMovie and GarageBand) were purchased by the previous owner from the Mac App Store, then they will be locked to the previous owner's Apple ID and cannot be transferred to you. You will have to re-purchase them under your own Apple ID.
If this is an older MBA that came with Snow Leopard or an earlier version of Mac OS X, though, the system would have come with an installation disk that included the iLife applications, a disk which the seller should have provided to you. Those iLife applications would be older versions, of course, and may or may not work in Lion depending on how old they are.

If you have an existing ID, & you don't want to use a credit card, you'll have to redeem an iTunes gift card. If you don't want to do that, you'll have to create a new ID by following the directions here, EXACTLY:

Each country's governement sets the rules for commerce in their nation - so things like copyright can limit foreign use, plus tax laws and such. For any intellectual property (software, books, music, audio, video), it is mostly copyright restrictions that limit cross border retail sales. -
I tried to download some photos from a corrupted CD and now every time I try to open iPhoto the frame pops up but nothing will load. I just get the spinning color wheel. Any ideas???
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Trying to download a book from iBooks.
I'm trying to download a book from iBooks (latest version) on my 3Gs (latest software). The book is Matthew Reilly's "Seven Deadly Wonders".
When tapping on it to go to the download page in iBooks it takes quite awhile and then takes to a screen that says, "Seven Deadly Wonders is available for download in iBooks."
But no Buy button. Just buttons, "Learn more about iOS 4" and "Learn more about iBooks"

You need to contact Apple to get the questions reset, which can be done by clicking here and picking a method for your country, or if that's not an option, by filling out and submit this form.
