Trying to get columns to sit beside each other

Question

New to dreamweaver CS5. Not getting alot of things but plugging away.
I have 3 div tags that are in a column. Want to put them in a row with equal widths. Here is what I have so far....can anybody help in a way I can understand?

#container + #main_image + #left_column + #center_column + #right_column = 5 div tags, not 3 as you have said.
If you are wanting a 3 column layout, you should use the #container div as the surrounding "container" and within that you need to create 3 div tags. You can create a 3 column layout with each column with the same width using CSS Float technique.
