Trying to load data 'Tues Aug 30 12:30:01' into a date field

I am having trouble loading data into a DATE field. The data is in the following format 'Tues Aug 30 12:30:01 2011'. I'd like to load it in this format if possible but I've had a lot of problems doing so. I'd be happy to get it loaded as dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.

The "s" in your Tues day abbreviation might throw Oracle off a little depending on your NLS settings.
If you drop the "s" off you could use the to_date function passing in your date format like this and it should work:
to_date('Tue Aug 30 12:30:01 2011', 'DY MON DD HH24:MI:SS YYYY')Easy to verify by selecting it from dual, but you can use it in your insert statement as well.
SELECT to_date('Tue Aug 30 12:30:01 2011', 'DY MON DD HH24:MI:SS YYYY') FROM dual
insert into atest columns(dates) values(to_date('Tue Aug 30 12:30:01 2011', 'DY MON DD HH24:MI:SS YYYY'));Do you have control over how the date is formatted prior to loading it?

  • Trying to load a javascript link from text file into a dynamic textfile

    Can anyone help me with this problem? Im trying to load in a
    newsfeed from freshcontent.net into my text field. If i put this
    javascript link on an html page, the page shows correctly, which is
    im supposed to get 3 dynamic links with news content headlines.
    Please view the link to see what i mean:
    http://www.freshcontent.net/directory/real-estate/real_estate.html
    Now, i cannot get this same type of display behavior in my
    text field if i just paste into my text file the javascript link
    thats supposed to bring up the 3 headlines. It is my understanding,
    that flash cannot do this without some sort of specific
    actionscripting, that involves asfusion, and/or externalInterface.
    Im not sure exactly how to go about setting this up to make this
    work. My current code looks like this:
    If anybody could tell me where im going wrong and what i
    should change in order to get the desired result im going for, Id
    very much appreciate it. Thanks

    well sorry there fanmap - but I don't think you're going to
    be able to get this to work. here's why: the link points to a php
    file - which gathers dynamic info from a DB - the return from the
    php is generating a string that is based on the DOM and
    'constructs' a javascript method that in turn writes to the html
    document. although we can embed html into a textField in Flash
    there are a limited number of supported html tags - and JS methods
    will not operate internally. in addition, (i'm not certain someone
    correct this if i'm off) there's no way to 'change' the output of
    the php call, therefore you will not be able to read the return
    because it is designed to use the DOM and write solely to the
    current document. Even if you were to access the JS method from the
    swf file (which one can) it will still only write the content of
    the php return to the html document - and the output is not
    compatible with the textField class.

  • Pulling Data from an imported web service into a data grid - Flex 3.0

    Hi all,
    I have created a web service from Oracle using JDeveloper and imported it into my Fex 3 project, and I am trying to populate a data grid with the data from the web service.  I was trying to emulate the example found in my Adobe Flex 3.0 for Dummies book (see http://dougmccune.com/flexfordummies/chapter14/srcview/index.html), and while the code from the book with that data service works fine, I can't get my application to work.  My issue is with the part of code mx:DataGrid dataProvider="(service)"  - I do not know how to specify what to use for the data source to populate the data grid from my imported web service.  Any suggestions or examples would be helpful, as I am a newcomer to Adobe Flex.  My code is as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"xmlns:webservices="
    generated.webservices.*">
     <mx:Script>

    </mx:Script>
     <webservices:PD_Pct_Web_Service id="service" />
     <mx:VBox>
     <mx:HBox width="100%">

  • Loading multiple text files from a folder into oracle clob field

    I would like to load about 300 word documents into a oracle clob field with each document inserted as a separate record.
    I'm not quite sure how to go about doing this. Is there a utility in oracle that would do this?
    I've looked at sql loader and utl_file but both require the name of the file. Is there a way I can do this?
    If its not possible using just oracle, does anyone know how I can do this in combination with perl?
    Many Thanks
    Sam

    I have no experience with this, but pl see if MOS Doc 73787.1 (How to Read A Binary File into BLOB Using PL/SQL) can help.
    Essentially, you will have to write code to loop thru all 300 files to load them into the database

    Another question I have is, how do we know how many records (0's) to specify in the control file? In this case there's only one but when real files are used we won't know how many are in the file.
    Thanks for your help!

    The concept was "Don't use SQL*Loader to parse XML".
    You can use SQL*Loader to load an entire XML document into the DB. That is fine. You can do the same via BFILENAME to read in files from disk as well.
    If you want to parse XML, do that from within Oracle via PL/SQL and/or SQL. The solution depends upon your version of Oracle and what is good enough for you in terms of performance.
    So the basics are
    a) How am I getting the information?
    b) How am I getting in into Oracle?
    c) How do I want to parse it?
    As I see the schema, it only allows for one ipo:purchaseOrder node in the document, since that is the root node. If you have multiple in the incoming file, you no longer have valid XML, both per the schema and because you have no single root node. You have an XML fragment, which must be treated different.
    Just trying to understand the question since I now realize it does not agree with what the schema in your initial example shows.

  • HELP Error trying to load XMLNode.class

    I am trying to load the Beta XDK for PL/SQL into the database. At first when I ran the command:
    loadjava -user ..... xmlparserv2.jar
    I got a whole lot of errors saying that it could not read the compressed format. So I decompressed the .jar file and tried to load each .class individually. This seemed to work fine until I tried the XMLNode.class file. I get this error when I try to load it:
    Error while opening or reading XMLNode.class
    Exception oracle.aurora.server.tools.ToolsException: file format error
    loadjava: 1 errors
    Anyone know why I am getting this or have any fixes? Thank you.

  • Load multiple parts of an XML file into one dynamic Text Field

    Hi I am trying to load text from an external XML file into a dynamic text box. I have so far managed to load single parts of the XML file into a dynamic text field. I now want to be able to load different parts of the XML file (something similar to a string with appendText) into the same text Field.
    I have so far managed to achive this using the String and append text properties, but would like to use XML file to do it instead.
    Any tips please?
    Thanks

    In essence you can just do:
    TextField.text = XML.node1 + XML.node2;

  • Data from 2 database blocks insert into the same base table?

    Hello,
    I have canvas C_NEW. On this canvas, items from 3 blocks are usable by the user.
    1. Block NEW_HEAD: 3 items say X1,X2,X3
    2. Block NEW : multi record text fields say Y1 thru Y10. Also a scrollbar.
    3. Block NEW_ACTION: 6 buttons say B1 thru B6 (One of them is N_OK which is the item in question)
    both the blocks NEW, NEW_HEAD are db blocks and have the same base table say BT. When the users click on the N_OK (after filling out the data in the NEW_HEAD block and then NEW in that order) I need the data from both the NEW, NEW_HEAD to go into the BT. Currently only the data from the NEW is going into BT. Fields in the BT table which correspond to the fields X1,X2,X3 in the NEW_HEAD remain null after clicking the N_OK button. I put commit_form in the N_OK code since both the blocks are db blocks( and as suggested by folks, it is easier to issue a commit_form than do a lot more work in writing my own SQL).
    How can I achive this?
    Thanks,
    Chiru

    I tried doing what you suggested by putting the following code in the program unit which gets called when_button_pressed.
    PROCEDURE P_SAVE IS
    v_lc_no number;
    v_lc_seq number;
    v_dmg_allow number;
    BEGIN
      Go_Block('B_new_head');
      v_lc_no:= :B_new_head.N_LC_NO;
      v_lc_seq:= :B_new_head.N_LC_SEQ;
      v_dmg_allow:= :B_new_head.N_LC_DMG_ALLOW;
      Go_Block('B_new');
    FIRST_RECORD;
    LOOP
         emessage('before insert'||v_lc_no||'-'||v_lc_seq||'-'||:B_new.order_no);
      INSERT INTO ct_lc_import(
        LC_NUMBER,
        LC_SEQ,
        DAMAGE_ALLOWANCE,
        ORDER_NO,
        QTY_SHIPPED,
        UNIT_PRICE,
        DRAFT_AMOUNT,
        TICKET_DEDUCTION,
        SHIPMENT_PENALTY,
        TOTAL_DEBIT,
        DEBIT_DATE)
        VALUES (v_lc_no,
                v_lc_seq,
                v_dmg_allow,
                :B_new.order_no,
                :B_new.qty_shipped,
                :B_new.unit_price,
                :B_new.draft_amount,
                :B_new.ticket_deduction,
                :B_new.shipment_penalty,
                :B_new.total_debit,
                :B_new.debit_date);
       commit;
      NEXT_RECORD;
       if :SYSTEM.LAST_RECORD='TRUE' then
             emessage('last record');
             EXIT;
       end if;
      --NEXT_RECORD;
    END LOOP;
    EXCEPTION
       when FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE then
          raise;
       when OTHERS then
          emessage(SQLERRM);
          raise FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
    END;But I can't see the records in the table eventhough the message pops up with the values before inserting the 1st record. It then exits. I would think it would atleast insert the very first record into the the table at the least.
    Thanks,
    Chiru

    I have forgotten my iPhone backup password. Is there a way of getting it as I am trying to load my old data from iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5?

    If on a Mac, and you elected to save such to your Keychain, you can recover it from your Keychain. Otherwise, you can't.
    While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups & restore the phone as a new device. Your data will be unrecoverable.

  • Sql@loader-704  and ORA-12154: error messages when trying to load data with SQL Loader

    I have a data base with two tables that is used by Apex 4.2. One table has 800,000 records . The other has 7 million records
    The client recently upgraded from Apex 3.2 to Apex 4.2 . We exported/imported the data to the new location with no problems
    The source of the data is an old mainframe system; I needed to make changes to the source data and then load the tables.
    The first time I loaded the data i did it from a command line with SQL loader
    Now when I try to load the data I get this message:
    sql@loader-704 Internal error: ulconnect OCISERVERATTACH
    ORA-12154: tns:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    I've searched for postings on these error message and they all seem to say that SQL Ldr can't find my TNSNAMES file.
    I am able to  connect and load data with SQL Developer; so SQL developer is able to find the TNSNAMES file
    However SQL Developer will not let me load a file this big
    I have also tried to load the file within Apex  (SQL Workshop/ Utilities) but again, the file is too big.
    So it seems like SQL Loader is the only option
    I did find one post online that said to set an environment variable with the path to the TNSNAMES file, but that didn't work..
    Not sure what else to try or where to look
    thanks

    Hi,
    You must have more than one tnsnames file or multiple installations of oracle. What i suggest you do (as I'm sure will be mentioned in ed's link that you were already pointed at) is the following (* i assume you are on windows?)
    open a command prompt
    set TNS_ADMIN=PATH_TO_DIRECTOT_THAT_CONTAINS_CORRECT_TNSNAMES_FILE (i.e. something like set TNS_ADMIN=c:\oracle\network\admin)
    This will tell oracle use the config files you find here and no others
    then try sqlldr user/pass@db (in the same dos window)
    see if that connects and let us know.
    Cheers,
    Harry

  • Getting an error while trying to load data into cube

    Hello,
    I am trying to load data into cube but it gives me following error:
    fiscal year variant not expected.
    Can someone tell what could be done on fiscal year
    Cheers
    Jim.

    Hi,
    May be you have not mapped anything to fiscal variant or not included fiscal variant in the cube but you have used fiscal period inside it.
    You should load fiscal variant if you wanna use fiscal period.
    Map fiscal variant to a constant K4 or from the source if present and then see the result.
    Generally it is K4 except for FI-CO cubes .
    In the transfer rules, select field '0fiscvarnt' 'Tp' click
    Enter K4 for Constant................Save and Activate
    Iam sure you'd fix the issue.
