Trying to make sure my flash file doesn't require flash 11

im working in cs5.5 flash and i published my flash file with flash player 9 and then added it in a dreamweaver file; uploaded everything to my site and it asks me to download flash player 11.

i need it to work w/out flash player 11 cause so many ppl dont have that yet.

i'd use swfobject for embedding those swf and i'd replace the edited swfobject used by dreamweaver following the directions here:

shoo: if i had to do that for every file i get i would go insane, as scott said, post contract: files that they (sub contractor) supply you, presume them ok unless you KNOW otherwise, or a copyright flag pops up contradicting ownership.

Photoshop does not support the creation of PDF hyperlinks, sorry. You will have to use Acrobat or another application to add links after you have generated the PDF. If you google "adding hyperlinks to PDF", you should see a number of options to explore.

Back up all data now.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. You can demote it back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

There is no version of Flash for any iDevice. The most recent iOS version is iOS 5.1.1.

Windows 8: Flash File doesn't seem to be doing anything......?

I was trying to make a game work on my laptop and I looked online for help. A site said to uninstall Flash from my Programs and Features menu in the control panel and I did so probably a bit too willingly. The website said to re-install flash from the adobe website and when I tried doing this, the file downloaded, but when i clicked to open it, it brought up the screen that says " Are you sure you want to do this... etc." and when i clicked yes, the program proceeds to do nothing. I checked in the Task Manager and it shows "Adobe Installation Helper(x32)" as a background process. I just spent $100 on this game and I am thoroughly frustrated at my misfortune.

Does this program use the Flash Player ActiveX or the plugin.
The ActiveX comes preinstalled on Windows 8; the plugin installer you can download from http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player.exe
You may need to restart Windows before running the installer.

Moving files doesn't update Flash Skins in DW CS 4?

Hello,
on a page I've got a flash movie (.swf with skin (via
importing/converting a qt in adobe media encoder, then importing
video into flash, adding a skin, them exporting to site folder an
opening in DW CS4).
it works fine in the browsers.
now when I want to change the position of the page in my site
folder (move it into different folder) DW asks me if to update
links, I click okay, but it doesn't update the code/links whatever
(to show me the skin for controlling the movie). What have I
forgotten to consider? Maybe alsready at exporting the file(s) from
Flash?

The .swf that holds the url of the flv (let's call that
player.swf for
now) uses whatever link you give it. You can give it a root
relative
location so it will work from anywhere on your site.
/videos/flvs/film1.flv for example.
And, depending on the object/embed code generated, you should
be able
to edit that in the code view in DW. Something like
&streamname=/videos/flvs/film1
And you can then store player.swf in a different location.
/media/swfs/player.swf for example.
I think DW will update links to player.swf if you move
player.swf to a
different location, but I don't know if it will update
object/embed
code.
However, it seems that .swf files created with the
FLVPlayback
component are hard-coded to look for the skin file in the
current
location - that is, the location of the html file with the
object/embed
code.

Oops. I think I answered this above. I think it is the
FLVPlayback
component that creates a hard-coded path to the current
directory.

Again, you can store the player .swf files anywhere, and the
.flv files
anywhere, but AFAIK, the skin .swf files must be in the same
folders as
the .html files that reference them.
There's a chance that somebody in the Flash forums has
created a work-
around, but I haven't been there in a while.
I haven't tested, but you /might/ be able to set a BASE href
element to
get around it. Of course, all other links in that page would
need to be
root relative after doing so.
Another method (if supported by your host) might be using
.htaccess
with a rewrite directive.
If you're feeling adventurous, you can edit (a copy of) the
FLVPlayback
component or one or more of its actionscript files found in
the
Flash configuration folder.

i removed my windows VM because it got infected by a virus and even after scan and removal of infected files didn't want to run properly. i deleted windows VM via Parallels ( + one folder that could not be removed manually), but how can i make sure it is all clean?

Hi molend,
a Parallels VM consists of exactly two files on your OSX volume:
a. NameoftheVM.hdd which contains the VM itself
b. NameoftheVM.pvs which contains the preferences of the VM
If you delete (and empty the trash) these files, then your VM is gone for real.
And no need to uninstall Parallels itself. But if you want to, use the Uninstaller Parallels provides within the .dmg file from which you installed Parallels.

Trying to make video smaller but file size comes out larger

I'm not aquainted with how to reduce both the file image and keep the file size small also.
I start out with a 3mb file that has a window of 640 x 474.
I run it through streamclip and re-save export to quicktime with a window size of 320 x 240. I would think that this would cut the file size in half also, but the file, although it now displays in the smaller window size, which I need for placement in a web page, the file size has jumped up to 14mb. Apple Intermediate Codec and 50% quality setting. I don't see how the file has bloated in size to such a great degree.
Please help me discover the error of my ways.

Thanks for responding MartinR, I tried the H.264 codec with MPEG-4 ACC audio and that brought it down to about a 1.5mb filesize on one and 3.5mb filesize on the the other. I still don't know what the discrepancy is to make theme different in file size now, but I do now have two files that work fine on the internet at the new screen size. I appreciate your input and response to my question.

Flash file doesn't support all browsers

I have flash file which accepts data from Javascript using
swfObject.js and displays it dynamically(using addVariable). But
the problem occurring is it doesn't support all browsers. I have IE
6 and Mozilla Firefox 3 with Flash player version 10 installed in
it. I am not able to run the file on it. I can't understand why as
the code written in as3 and in javascript is right. Could you
suggest some solution?

Just as a thought,
Following are the reasons when you can't see a flash movie.
1. No flash player installed
2. Browser is not having Javascript enabled and noscript tag
is removed from HTML published from Flash.
3. Incorrect path for swf is inserted in the HTML page.
4. There is an error at the very begining of the flash file
which is stopping it to show properly.
5. Browser settings are disabling object/embed tags.
I am able to see your link in both IE7 and FF3 browsers. So
what I think is, in your case the reason is 5 or 2.

Linking button from one flash file to a different flash file

Hi All,
Wondering if anyone knows how to link buttons in one flash
file to open a specific scene of an entirely different flash file?
If it isn't possible to choose a specific scene, is there a way to
just open a flash file...in the same browser window, but not within
the flash file...if that makes sense?
I'm putting this on a website, so additionally, I will need
to know which file to link it to, the swf, html, or fla.

I would advise against using scenes for your website. You
would need to create a separate html which would load the second
swf file within the same browser window.

I would like Flash files to open in Flash after download but the only option is to save the file. I do not find flash in content type.

Flash is not listed the Content type list in the applications tab Firefox prefs.

You can uninstall the relevant extensions from Tools>Addons to remove those toolbars. Also there may be some unwanted plugins which you may want to disable. This should solve your problems.
If you still want a clean profile, uninstall firefox with the "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" checkbox enabled. Alternatively you may remove your firefox profile folder which (on Window7) is stored in C:\Users\<your-username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles folder with a randomly name. You may delete this folder before installing a new version to get a clean profile.
