Trying to quit iphoto on my macbook pro but it wont let me?

i am trying to quit my iphoto but every time it tells me that I have to wait for my photos to import. I don't believe there are photos importing and do not know how to stop them. This started when I plugged my ipod in to my computer and has not gone away for about a week now. Any suggestions?

Use the Force Quit command under the Apple Menu.

Hey guys i got a macbook pro and this is the first incident that has happended to me sence i got it i cant figure out why it wont let me download pictures off my usb adapter it wont read it? help

So from your description, the drive isn't mounting on the desktop?
Open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities), and see if the drive appears in the left pane. If it does, but it's greyed out, highlight it and wait for a few seconds - eventually the Mount button should become live - click it and see if that clears the problem.
If not, it's possible that the drive has been damaged, usually by removing it without unmounting (ejecting) it first.
If you have access to a Windows machine, it may be possible to mount it on there, eject it properly and try again on the Mac. This has been known to work reasonably frequently.

That's because the Mac, OS X and the iLife apps that came preinstalled on the Mac all belong to the previous owner. The previous owner needs to call Apple care and have their Apple ID disassociated from the Mac. Then the hard drive needs to be totally erased and OS X and the iLife apps reinstalled using OS X Recovery.

  • What 3rd party companies are there that offer a photo printing service for ipad2 users? I suppose I am looking for a similar service to iPhoto on the MacBook pro but so far I've had no joy. I'm uk based.

Sorry I didn't realize the above was just a subject line.
I have been trying to download java for my macbook pro, but for some reason the function is not recognizing the internet.  I am on and have checked several times .... I have checked through both safari and firefox but to no avail.  Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Not really a reply just some added info:
This is the error message I get saying the internet is not on, but clearly as I can send this message it has to be:
To open “Java Preferences,” you need to install a Java runtime, but you are not connected to the Internet.
I am connected through Wi-fi if that makes a difference.

If the system won't boot from the new drive the OP bought and install OS X on it it certainly won't boot from the original drives Recovery HD partition.
Sorry genius.....but if the Recovery disk shows up that means the disk cable isn't bad.  Could be he did have a screwed up HDD and when he put the NEW HDD in (after putting the OS on it via USB) the computer didn't reconize it and therefore didn't boot the OS.  Just maybe right genius?  Don't rush to criticize someone's recommendations until you realize other possibilities.  (I did say "if it does")

  • I'm trying to download iTunes to an external harddrive but it wont let me change to this drive. WHY?

I'm trying to download iTunes to an external harddrive but it wont let me change to this drive. WHY?
There isn't enough room on my laptop and I have deleted all traces of previous iTunes

    I think you've misunderstood.
iTunes ONLY works on the C drive.  There is no moving it.  End of discussion.
The MEDIA can be house on any other drive (internal or external).
Install iTunes correctly using the default options.
Once it is installed and working correctly with everything on the C drive, close iTunes.
Follow the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1364 to move the iTunes media folder.

  • I am trying to access iPhoto from my MacBook Pro on my iPhone 5s

I am trying to access iPhoto on my iPhone 5s from my 2008 MacBook pro. I have synced both devices, have set up iCloud, have downloaded iOS7 and Mavericks, and have photo sharing and photo stream turned on on the iPhone. I am using iPhoto '08, version 7.1.5. There is a newer for purchase version of iPhoto. Could it be that I have to buy this update to connect from my iPhone? I just bought the iPhoto by Apple app but it only allows me to view albums and photos that are already on my iPhone.

Thanks for your reply. I am still ever-hopeful this can be done. Checking the iPhoto '11 site, I see this info:
-View and automatically import recent photos taken on your iOS devices
-Automatically send newly-imported photos to all your iOS devices
-iPhoto '11 works with iCloud Photos, so the photos you take on your iOS devices automatically appear in iPhoto,
I ask this respectfully. If indeed iPhoto version 9.5 is iCloud friendly, why would it not be accessible from my iPhone? It seems to me that the mission of iCloud is to effect the "commonality" between iPhone and the Mac - and other Apple devices. Do you know the technical reason for this or am I going to have to accept that it simply won't work? <grin>

I'm trying to open Cloud but it uses my earlier e-mail account and I don't know how to have Cloud recognise my current account.  Is there a way to fix that so Cloud will be available to me?

I'm trying to call my friend on FaceTime. She has an iPhone 4, and whenever I try to call her phone number, it says, "Name is not available for FaceTime" but it works on my iPad. I want to FaceTime her from my Macbook Pro. I know I have to call her iPhone phone number, but it never works. Can anyone help me?

Right click the printer in System Prefences -  Print & Scan and use Reset Printing System... and then reinstall the printer, should take less than 5 minutes. Here is a photo showing how to Reset Printing System....

  • Tried to install OSX on my macbook pro but install failed, now it won't restart

I Downloaded OSX onto my macbook pro and then I keep getting a message that installation failed. Now the machine is stuck in loop and won't go to my normal desktop screen.

To install Windows you can use Boot Camp Assistant or use a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox. You can't install Windows as you described in your post.

  • Trying to pick enough power in Macbook Pro but need to conserve on cost

There are so many flavors to pick from. Not just Vanilla. Basically I guess there are 2 main variations. Core2Duo and Core i3/5/7 series. Looks like the Core2Duos officially support 4gb ram and unofficially 6gb while the Core I-series support up to 8gb?
You can always upgrade ram and hard drives so not worried on initially what mine comes with. I'd like to be as futureproof as possible, but do I need one that will hold 8gb? Also there's bus speed, etc, etc. So many specs.
I anticipate I will be doing mostly things on Internet. Web browsing, online radio, maybe some YouTube videos though much less.
So whether to go with a Core2Duo system or an I-series? Help!

unibody design making you take your MBP into Apple to replace the battery which will eventually have to be replaced on any rechargeable device. But, it's only $129 for the 15" models and you can pay almost that much for a battery for pre-unibody MBPs.
And that $129 will get you a much longer-lasting battery than the $129 battery for my older MacBook Pro. That's what Apple gained by replacing all of the protective battery shell and latches with additional battery cells. It's not that hard to replace the unibody battery; if it fails under warranty, just have Apple replace it and if it fails after the warranty runs out, just buy one and replace it yourself. It actually isn't very hard.

As for your purchase in general, the uses you talked about are definitely within the Core 2 Duo's power. That's why I still use my "old" Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro with no complaints. Getting the i5 is merely for longevity, not because it will improve your experience any, but since you do want it to last a while the i5 seems like a good choice.

  • HT4534 I'm just trying to get facetime on my macbook pro, but I don't see any way to do it, I'm going round in circles here. This store is the pits.

How do you buy facetime and get it on your mac? I'm going around in circles trying to perform this task.

    Lezah,
There is only one Facetime Application available as a download from the App store.  Fortunately, it is the one you need for your 10.6.8. MacBook.  It is actually known as Facetime for Mac.  If you go to the app store and search for Facetime, you should see it as an available download.  The cost was 99 cents when I downloaded it last year.

Force quit Mail app. Apple logon in the menu bar select Force Quit. A dialog window will open select Mail.app and click the force quit button.
If that doesn't work hold down the power button until the system turns off. Then press it again to restart your Mac.
